"My, it's spectacular…" I sighed. Tonight was the night of the Star Festival, a wondrous display of shooting stars that happened but once every hundred years. To be able to behold such a marvel with one's own eyes… Truly astounding.
Samus and I were fortunate enough to have the balcony all to ourselves. She smiled at me suddenly, a smile so full of warmth. "We were standing here, just like this, the day you let me into your heart… Why did you?"
I chuckled. "Must I explain?"
"Hey, come on. Tell me."
Watching as a shooting star soared across the sky, I then closed my eyes. "I wanted to see the world differently, I suppose. That day, we discovered so much of it…"
"A fascinating new side to the world that wasn't there before…" she said fondly, the feeling mutual.
"And yet, there is still so much more to see," I finished, smiling right back at her. "In a way, you were always there, from the moment we first met, perhaps even longer. We've shared many a moment together, haven't we?"
"You were the best part of them, always," a hand lovingly found mine. As another shooting star flashed by, Samus then made a wish. "I wish we could stay like this another hundred years, and relive every moment all over again."
I interlocked my fingers with hers. "And discover even more along the way."
We spoke not another word that night, simply enjoying one another's company. We would go on to nurture that wish.
