"Hello sweetie," River says as removing the necklace crushing it in her palm.
The two Time Lords share a passionate kiss while ignoring DiNozzo clearing his throat they eventually step back, looking at each other grinning.
"Guessing you have some ideas?" River asks.
"A few, I need to think. Stay here, keep me posted and oh you wouldn't happen to have your vortex manipulator?" The Doctor inquiries.
"Oh, wow you really must have been out of it to actually want to know if I have that" River replies.
Shaking his head in amusement "Just be sure you have it; I have a feeling I'll need a quick exit plan. Plus, check with UNIT as I think Micky Smith is one of theirs" The Doctor says.
"Will do" River replies.
Placing three items from the bag consisting of a sonic screwdriver, psychic paper, and a key inside his pocket, the Time Lord walks to DiNozzo who looks on curious.
"Let's head to Lumic Industries and get answers," The Doctor says.
"Fine I'm driving though probie," Tony says.
"Suit yourself, I need to think anyway and do not use probie. If you consider us friends don't act like a juvenile young boy who never left an academy, or even if not, shut up for a bit. I need to think" The Doctor replies.
"I… okay, very well," Tony says a bit surprised at this rapid change.
The Doctor remains quiet while heading to the vehicle and is followed by an oddly silent DiNozzo.
Outside an office building
Having parked the car on the street DiNozzo exits the vehicle with putting some change in a parking meter before looking over to see his passenger exit. Only is surprised as The Doctor removes the sidearm, and badge placing both inside the glove compartment, with locking it.
Frowning "What are you doing McConfusing?" DiNozzo asks.
"I don't need them" The Doctor replies.
"We're federal agents, yeah we kind of do," DiNozzo says.
"And what do you think would give us better access, hmm? Saying we are here from the navy police or pretending to be somebody else, at least for the front door? You can keep your firearm and badge, but I have a different plan in mind" The Doctor says.
"And just what exactly do you suppose we go in as, the mail company?" DiNozzo inquiries in befuddlement.
Reaching into the back seat the Time Lord pulls out a long coat tossing it to the NCIS agent who puts it on and heads straight for the building.
"Hold up, I'm not just letting you walk in there with some half-baked scheme. I'm pulling rank and if you're going to act like a loony bin you can wait in the car. Not to mention get you reported to Gibbs for this probie" Tony says.
The Doctor merely ignores him while making his way up the stairs while DiNozzo catches up and blocks the alien's path.
"Are you not listening to me?" Tony inquiries angrily.
"No" The Doctor replies.
"What have you done with my probie? Is this like some Mission Impossible or body stealing?" Tony inquiries harshly.
"No, and you are wasting time. We've got an unsolved murder, yet you are standing here desiring to bicker like a juvenile ape" The Doctor says.
"Just who the hell do your spewing this to? And calling me an ape, screw you I am so much more. I am a very important agent" Tony explodes.
"I apologize I realize you are still associating me with Timothy McGee, and while he's around existing in the very back corners of my head I am not him," The Doctor says.
Quickly reaching out the Time Lord grabbing Tony's hand places it right over his right heart as the man's eyes widen in surprise. As DiNozzo pulls his hand back The Doctor merely brushes past him.
"What do you mean gone? I could almost get split personality McGee but how do you explain the second heart? How come Ducky has never mentioned that before?" DiNozzo asks in disbelief.
"Not a split personality, it's all me and because I was human" The Doctor replies.
"You've gone nuts, I'm taking you to the hospital," DiNozzo says catching up.
"Oh, I most certainly am a madman. Anyway, we're here. Be sure to keep your badge and gun obscured behind that coat" The Doctor says.
"And do you really think I'm going to let you just run things?" Tony asks in incredulity.
"Yes," The Doctor says.
Scoffing "And you complain I've got an ego" DiNozzo retorts.
"It's not ego, it's mere fact, and besides your curious to see what I'm up to" The Doctor replies.
"No, I'm really not and I'm pulling rank as a very special agent. I'm not letting a clearly unstable person take charge of this investigation" DiNozzo says.
Shrugging "Okay arrest me. Take me to a hospital or trust me that despite being different I still want what you do" The Doctor says.
"You don't get to use McGee as an excuse, whoever you are. The man was my friend" DiNozzo says angrily.
"One you should have treated better instead of acting like a frat boy" The Doctor replies icily.
Brushing past the agent, The Doctor pushes a door open entering inside followed by a grumbling and reluctant former Baltimore cop. Both men stop looking around to see various people dressed in normal clothes, mostly all wearing Bluetooth's, yet the strangest thing is various people have prosthetic limbs. Some limbs have flesh covering while others look like pure metal. Inside an ear is a blue tooth device.
"Just what is this place?" DiNozzo inquiries curiously.
"I'm beginning to have a few ideas," The Doctor says.
"And Mr. Crazy care to share with us?" DiNozzo replies.
"None I particularly like at the moment," The Doctor says grimly.
"Of course, and here I thought Gibbs could be a cryptic jerk" DiNozzo mutters.
Ignoring him The Doctor walks over to a receptionist's desk pulling out his physic paper and showing it to the woman.
"Hello, I'm John Smith, and this is junior Agent Lazenby, we are from the IRS. We would like to speak with Mr. Lumic regarding his tax returns. Some errors have appeared" The Doctor explains smoothly while smiling.
Eyes widening "Do you have an appointment sir?" the lady inquires.
Frowning "Mam we are the IRS, do we need an appointment?" The Doctor asks sarcastically.
"Quite right, top floor" the woman responds.
The Doctor nods, heading for the nearest elevator while DiNozzo follows behind unhappily.
"Really junior agent? And of all the Bonds you pick Lazenby, one of the worst?" DiNozzo quietly hisses.
"Call it me being petty for McGee's sake, and Lazenby's Bond was ahead of its time, somewhat until Craig. Got screwed over by the studio plus went off the deep end when one of the producers told Lazenby off for being too nice on needing to act like a movie star. Yeah, old George screwed himself over by listening to his agent who thought Bond would fade out" The Doctor explains "Roger Moore became a problematic situation though since he was a Zygon with amnesia."
Scoffing "Sure," DiNozzo says in disbelief.
"I was there" The Doctor replies.
"Right," DiNozzo says shaking his head.
"You'll wish quickly enough that I'm just making things up. I really wish you would have left to go get your boss" The Doctor says quietly, and apologetically "Because I can't protect you."
"Hey, I signed up for this, I know what I'm getting into. I can handle life-threatening weird" DiNozzo says defensively.
"Not like this" The Doctor replies grimly.
Any further conversation is ended because the elevator doors open with some people exiting while The Doctor and DiNozzo step inside.
Few minutes later
As an automatic door slides inwards The Doctor and Tony enter into an office for seeing an older gray-haired man confined to a wheelchair behind a desk.
"Hello, how I can help the IRS today? My taxes are perfect" John Lumic says.
"Mr. Lumic we are not from the IRS, we are or well I am an NCIS agent here investigating the death of a former employee by the name of Mickey Smith" Tony explains.
The Doctor rolls his eyes while John glares given this obvious intrusion, and being lied to.
"I wish you had not lied to me gentlemen; I might have been more helpful but now unless you leave my office you will be escorted out by security. Next time come with a warrant, my lawyers are going to be present" John replies.
"Actually, I highly doubt a man of your nature would have been helpful, and don't worry, we will be leaving regardless. We have all the information I need, so thank you" The Doctor says politely.
Frowning "Just who exactly are you?" John inquiries.
"I thought you would have known from those microscopic body scanners placed inside your doorway, well the basics are not invented yet by humans until the end of the twenty-first century when the America-China Wars occur. Of course, the idea and how advanced your particular model is has long since been around for other worlds. Or have your masters already figured out who I am while their computer circuits, that claim to feel no emotion, hit an error page" The Doctor says.
"Other worlds? My masters?" John inquires in confusion.
"Enough playing an idiot! You've got cybernetic limbs down there that don't belong in this time period or really anywhere! Smith had his brain fired with enough electricity far beyond anything humans can create right now. Guessing because he figured out what was really going on here, and when getting attacked fled out this building, or maybe metal jackboots followed him. Either way, a man is dead. And I wage you don't even know the man's name before DiNozzo told you. That above everything else why I'm going to burn your world to ash" The Doctor growls icily.
Shuttering DiNozzo feels a shiver run through his spine and his entire body as it's like the room's tempura drops. No not just drops but where this other man is standing there is no feeling of what would be human… Tony knows, rather a lack of. An emptiness to normal human senses, never mind a seething quiet rage which is very unsettling. Perhaps truly for the first time, Tony is fearfully starting to believe The Doctor's story.
"If you're referring to the fact of having two hearts yes, the scanners did pick that up. I must admit some surprise because your race is quite dwindled while in recovery from that Time War" John replies "My benefactor as you described arrived needing help from damage sustained in one of those battles, and in exchange have promised me my lifelong dream. Eternal life free of sickness."
"Yeah, I've heard it all before, what you'll get is a disease of evil. The Cybermen will strip your body apart, removing all emotions and forced to follow their hive. The only other race pursuing these same goals with such resources is the Borg and I know they are not here. Just from unable to be as quiet" The Doctor says in disgust.
"Not that overly worried only thing emotions have ever done is cause me pain. Have left me like this, I was a good man once. Had people who loved me, or I thought they did instead of just being selfish for what I could do for them. Tried doing good no matter what until eventually I decided to be the jerk everybody thought I was on a selfish planet" John replies regretfully.
"Or more likely you just gave up," The Doctor says frostily.
Glaring "Don't you dare, you weren't there. You didn't live my life" John replies angrily.
Nodding "Your right I have not lived your life, or suffered what you did. I know what it's trying to be good when it's not wanted. But your actions are hurting people, please if you were a good man once then help me now" The Doctor says.
"Surely you know the thing about good men is when they fall, there's no returning" John replies coldly.
Clenching his fists, The Doctor grimaces while looking off. Thankfully his senses more attuned compared to a human, picks up the electricity in the floor starting to charge The Doctor rapidly removes his screwdriver from his pocket.
Taping the button down on the gray cylinder tube, the red light at the end glows with cutting off the electricity to the floor, and sending a small emp burst throughout the room. Already running down in his head, the seconds, they have until the power comes back on The Doctor turns to DiNozzo while using his sonic to open the door.
"Don't just stand there impersonating a guest from Kirk and Uhura's wedding when vampires appeared for a feast, get running like a rabbit" The Doctor orders.
Briefly grabbing DiNozzo's arm the Time Lord and him run out the door into a hallway towards the stairs.
"Why are we moving like Tiger Woods getting chased by his angry wife with a golf club?" DiNozzo inquiries in surprise and confusion.
"Because I'd rather not be electrocuted right now and turned into a brainless troop who reminds me of Stalin's jackboots, would you?" The Doctor inquiries rhetorically.
DiNozzo and The Doctor bolt into the staircase with the Time Lord joyfully going down two steps at once. A seemingly infinite supply of energy only even despite all of DiNozzo's physical condition that he does maintain, and previous boasting is gone.
Just further unsettling proof DiNozzo knows this individual is not being human. When they reach the final bottom floor The Doctor stops looking up to see DiNozzo nearly stumbling down the stairs before catching himself and panting from exhaustion, quite heavily.
Shaking his head "Ah humans" The Doctor mutters in fondness.
Just then the door opens to reveal a man fully clothed in a sliver jacket, pants, boots with a chest piece, and a helmet having holes for the eyes along with the mouth. A flashlight type of device sits on top of the helmet, yet the Cyberman's hands remain bare. The Doctor looks on in surprise as not out of horror but from these models are very early.
"Wow, Lumic wasn't kidding in saying you guys were damaged. Did you just keep these models in a supply closet or something?" The Doctor inquiries excitedly.
Just as the Cybermen goes towards pressing his control panel a laser blast hits the modified human in his back causing the thing to fall lifelessly. A certain metal thud occurs just as River Song enters through the door holding her blaster handgun, while more Cybermen on top of the stairs kick the door in.
"Hello, sweetie, and did you have a fun drive over here?" The Doctor asks.
"Oh yeah, I broke at least four-speed laws after getting your text message in the car earlier. So Cybermen, I should have guessed. It was rather obvious" River replies.
Shrugging "Eh far too many other races out there, don't worry," The Doctor says.
"Wait you know about this alien inside McCrazy too and where can I get that gun Ziva delicious? Also do you two quit flirting for five seconds to focus on the other aliens coming down the stairs?" Tony yells or attempts at least.
"First, it's River if you're going to try pathetically flirting with me. Never mind your wasting time 'cause I've had entire galaxies offered for mere dinner, let alone solar systems for a marriage proposal" the dark-haired woman says causally "And have we forgotten about the tin heads? No."
"Your one of the" DiNozzo says in surprise like about to pass out.
"A Time Lord? Yes," River replies.
"Remember when I mentioned your vortex manipulator? Now would be a good time" The Doctor says.
"I only got one charge, given it's still damaged after the Kelvin incident," River says.
"What was the Kelvin incident?" DiNozzo asks.
"Let's just say it is in your far future involving a spaceship getting attacked and the birth of James T Kirk. We ended up repairing that tragic fixed point from some unhappy time-traveling obsessed lunatic who couldn't understand multiple timelines" River says revealing a wrist computer.
"One chance is all we need. Let's set the stop for a London storage unit, same time zone to maximize power" The Doctor orders.
Holstering her weapon River starts inputting the directions while The Doctor quickly moves over grabbing Tony's arm pulling him over. Before Tony can really protest River punches in a final key before grabbing her husband's hand. Within moments all three vanish.
Hope you all enjoyed this and let me know what you think.
Yeah, I decided to have a couple of Star Trek references on it really existing in this universe.
Unlike certain other people, I'm one of the few who does actually enjoy the Star Trek films branching off from the timeline created by JJ Abrams.
And yeah, I decided to use Cybermen as the main enemy.
Pretty much I modified the Time War for not completely wiping out the Time Lords but rather heavily damaged.
Until next time.
