A/n : Okay, so it's been a lifetime since I last updated this story. But to tell you the truth, I was insanely bored of it. And the lack of reviews didn't really help. So I'm posting this last chapter because I just want to end the story at the moment. If possible, I may post a sequel that would definitely be better written than this. I'm sorry guys, I'm really sorry to keep y'all hanging like this.
They were on the second floor, inside Moaning Myrtle's bathroom because that was the only place they could go to without the risk of being followed or overheard. The mood was grim and neither knew where to begin, resulting in a stony silence settling down on both of them.
'So the Dark Lord has returned' said Draco finally, unable to bear the silence anymore. Dumbledore had announced the real cause of Cedric's death and the details of Lord Voldemort's resurrection the same morning and though many students believed his words to be false, Draco knew that there was no doubting Dumbledore's words. Moreover, his father had sent him an owl the very next day after the third task, reading which had sent shivers down his spine.
Hermione made a small noise of agreement, unable to think of anything else to say.
'Father sent me an owl this morning. Things are never going to be the same for us again' He said quietly.
Her head snapped up at that.
'What are you talking about?' She asked.
He said nothing, just smiled sadly at her.
'The Dark Lord is back. Those who betray him must pay with their lives. That's not something that my parents can do. There's no escape from his services except for the obvious. As soon as I come of age, I'll be expected to join their ranks. I never had a choice. Would you like your name to be associated with a person like me?' he said resignedly.
'Draco, no! You always have a choice! Stand up for what you believe in! It's never too late, Draco. We have Dumbledore, he can protect you and your family. You don't have to become a Death Eater against your will' she said breathlessly, wringing her hands.
' I'm afraid I cannot do that, Hermione. To provoke the Dark Lord's ire is not something I'm willing to risk. No protection can possibly be enough when the Dark Lord is hunting you. Look what happened to the Potters. Moreover, it isn't really my choice anymore' he whispered, staring at his hands.
'If that is indeed the case, then I think it is time that we parted ways' said Hermione, her voice wavering.
Draco said nothing, but merely nodded sharply.
She stood up to go back to the library when a hand grabbed her wrist and turned her around and before she knew it, his lips were on hers, hands cradling her face gently.
As suddenly as it had started, it was over and his eyes were bright, looking down into her deep brown ones.
'I'm going to miss you, Hermione Granger' he breathed and she felt a sob rise at the back of her throat.
Throwing her arms around his neck, she hugged him close, trying to hold back her tears.
'Me too, Draco, me too. Someday, when all of this is over, I'll be waiting for you'
He answered not by words, but by tightening his grip around her and she understood what he intended to convey.
A/n : Phew! It's over. I'm not hoping for reviews because I know it was a crappy ending. Anyway, they are always welcome and if you liked it or hated it, do let me know.
