The Saiyan Devil
Chapter 10
Cabba and Vegeta stared at each other out of amusement or seriousness; you couldn't tell between the two. Vegeta wasn't expecting Cabba to come to challenge him so soon, but given the fact that this was a tournament, that was bound to happen eventually. Vegeta found this all too amusing, a bit laughable too.
"Seems you're serious, very well; I'll ring you out!"
Vegeta went first, charging at Cabba as he went straight into Super Saiyan 2. Cabba brought up his arms and quickly blocked Vegeta's punches, they were strong as always, but Cabba had been training for a long time before the Tournament, and if this was him from before that, Vegeta's hits would deal some more damage, but that wasn't the case anymore.
Vegeta hammered Cabba for a few more seconds before the young Saiyan managed to slap Vegeta's hands away and kick Vegeta in the chest as he needed to gain some leverage in the fight. The kick left Vegeta open for a few more hits, but the Saiyan Prince regained his bearings and elbowed Cabba in the face before flipping back, throwing ki blasts as he did so.
Smoke filled the air but was quickly evaporated as Cabba rushed out with a stern look on his face. Cabba landed an unseeable punch to Vegeta's stomach, followed by a vicious flurry of punches. Vegeta was surprised by this; given that he should be a bit stronger than Cabba, it still came as a surprise.
Before Cabba could land one more punch, Vegeta blocked it with his own. "You have certainly gotten better; I'll give you that."
Cabba tried to overpower Vegeta, but Vegeta was like a heavily built fortress. "I've been training nonstop ever since we last fought. Today I'll prove that I'm much stronger!"
"Heh! Then I guess I'll stop holding out!"
"Me too!"
Cabba jumped back and clenched his fist; veins popped around his forehead as he began to charge power. Vegeta watched with curiosity that soon turned into amazement. Cabba had sparks of electricity dancing around his body like flickering fireflies. His hair seemed to grow more, with his bang moving a bit more to the right.
"Super Saiyan Two…this ought to be fun!"
"Here I come!"
Vegeta hardened his stance, but Cabba sped past him in a shocking display of speed, getting Vegeta's eyes to widen. The next thing Vegeta knew was him skidding across the arena.
"Such speed," Vegeta commented with astonishment. "I'll have to keep a leg up if I want to match it."
Vegeta's hair suddenly went from gold to a vibrant red, causing opaque-like flames to surround his build. His body became leaner and more refined, keeping a bit of muscle. Cabba flinched, feeling this new pressure. It wasn't blue, but even Cabba knew that this wasn't stronger than blue; perhaps this is the form you take before blue.
"What's wrong? You look like a frightened cat!"
After Vegeta spoke, he dashed at Cabba, and both collided with elbows and punches. However, Cabba was overpowered again as Vegeta landed two blows to Cabba's face and a kick to his ribs. Cabba had blood trickling down his lips. He was still outmatched, it seems.
But he couldn't just walk away. Not with Universe 6 on the line.
Just as Vegeta was about to land another strike, Cabba blocked it with his hand and yelled as he gave a brutal uppercut that sent Vegeta stumbling back. The Saiyan Prince didn't have a chance to recover as Cabba was already on the attack; the tons of punches all packed power; it was a showing of his training.
Vegeta managed to duck under a punch and placed his hands on Cabba's chest as he released a giant ki wave that engulfed Cabba. Vegeta kept this up for a few seconds before stopping. That should've been enough to render Cabba unconscious…or so the Prince thought as a flash of purple entered Vegeta's vision.
It was a point-blank Galick Gun!
Vegeta didn't have the luxury of dodging the attack as it shot off just as he was about to move. Instead, the destructive purple beam swallowed Vegeta from head to toe and made its course to the ends of the stadium.
Cabba stopped shortly, taking a brief moment to straighten his breaths. He was expending more energy than he had hoped, but he knew fighting Vegeta would consume much.
The smoke cleared from Vegeta's spot, and the Saiyan Prince had his arms in a block form. A lot of smoke was lingering around Vegeta's arms.
"You didn't even move from that spot! Damnit."
Vegeta's arms moved to his sides; a contemplative shine was in his eyes as he stared at Cabba.
"If you think holding back to conserve your energy will work, then you have another thing coming, kid! You can't defeat me like that!"
"I have to try!"
"Then try harder!"
The battle between the two Saiyans began once again, with few spectators waiting for the opportunity to ring out either when the time arose. Celeon, in particular, was watching the fight with Hit. Both of them didn't wish to go all out now, so they opted to watch Cabba fight.
The abrupt sound of fists clashing could be heard throughout the arena, but Vegeta's and Cabba's were the ones the big players were inspecting carefully.
"You think Cabba is in over his head?" Celeon asked Hit, as Cabba had little leverage in the fight.
Hit didn't express it, but he was impressed with Cabba's showings. "Yes. It's obvious Vegeta is holding back significantly."
"I suppose so; he's using Super Saiyan God instead of Blue. However, it does irritate me that he isn't going all out against Cabba. It's disrespectful."
Hit's eyes moved to look at Celeon. "Cabba is a strong fighter, so we shouldn't worry about him."
Celeon knew Hit was right…as much as he would like to say otherwise. But, Celeon had to believe in Cabba to pull through and hopefully ring out Vegeta. If Vegeta is left in the Tournament, it will cause problems later on.
Cabba and Vegeta gave each other room to breathe, their fight was about to reach its climax, or so Vegeta had thought so. Fighters from different universes used the Saiyan's brief moment of reprieve to go in for a sneak attack, but Vegeta and Cabba both had a glint in their eye, telling the other to handle the scrubs.
Cabba and Vegeta jumped forward and went past each other, punching fighters from Universe 10 out of the arena in one shot and from Universe 4 as well.
"Damnit, they still have energy in the tank? I could've sworn their fight left them fatigued!" A fighter from Universe 10 shouted; it was a lobster face looking fighter.
"You dare get in our way! OUT OF MY SIGHT!" Vegeta quickly dispatched the fighter, sending them barreling out of the arena in one hit.
Universe 10 was now down to three fighters, and Universe 4 with four fighters. Naturally, the respective gods of those universes were shouting about how they brought shame to their universes and other demeaning words.
"Looks like no one else will bother us," Vegeta said, turning his attention back to Cabba with an unfailing smirk. "Let's get this over with!"
Cabba gulped, swallowing the stones that seemed to have been stuck in his throat. He wasn't sure why, but he was getting cold feet now, but he didn't know the reason for it. It didn't go unnoticed by Celeon and Hit. Cabba's stance was shaky, and his power was also beginning to waver.
Not a good outlook.
Vegeta rushed in with his fist cocked, Cabba flinched, and that cost him a fist to the face, so much so that it looked like Vegeta's fist went through his skull. Cabba was sent flying back after this. Vegeta continued his assault by firing a dozen of ki blasts that struck their target, causing a ripple of explosions.
Celeon felt every fiber in his being telling him to help Cabba; for as long as he knew the Saiyan, they would always help each other out, whether with little problems or helping out on missions. They always had each other's back, but now, Celeon could only watch. It would be rude to interrupt the fight between the two Saiyans. They both had chemistry and needed to settle the score with one another.
"We should prepare to attack," Hit spoke flatly as he had his back facing the fight. "We still need to handle Universe Eleven. They're the only Universe besides Universe Seven to have a full group."
"I only want to fight Toppo, but I feel like I'd still lose to him. So let me fight him first; then you join me."
Hit gave a rigid nod. "Roger that."
Celeon and Hit both wandered off, but Celeon took one last look at Cabba, seeing the young Saiyan struggle to evade Vegeta's harsh blows. Celeon felt his fist open and close. It was a struggle not just to go and help, but Celeon had to worry about the other universes.
Cabba wasn't a fledging.
Celeon needed to remind himself of that.
One last attack and Cabba was sent over by the arena's edge and fell to one knee, back in base form. Vegeta strolled up with a confident stride.
"It seems our rematch has come to an end, Cabba. I will admit, you have gotten stronger, but you're still nowhere near ready for this level of power," Vegeta said as he raised his hand with a red orb glowing in his palm. "This is the end!"
As Vegeta shot the red ki blast, something caught and dragged Cabba away. Vegeta's head snapped towards the new area Cabba was in, and his eyes widened.
"Sorry, but we still need Cabba," Celeon said as he had Cabba cloaked in his devilish ki.
"So, you waited for the fight to finish to make your move. I must admit, I was wondering when you would stop watching and take action," Vegeta spoke smugly.
Celeon looked at Cabba, who was surprised that he wasn't going berserk under the ki's influence; in fact, it was like it was restoring him to his former strength. When did Celeon learn to tame his ki!
"I did some personal training in order to change the properties of my ki. So instead of causing Saiyans to go berserk, I can give them vitality, boosting their power without the major downsides weighing it down."
"I can't believe it! I feel stronger."
Vegeta looked at the spectacle with narrowed eyes. "The Ki still feels ominous, but what if what he said is true? It is basically like a free Senzu Bean. Unbelievable!"
"We're retreating, Cabba; we must prepare for the other fights!"
"R-Right!" Cabba said, but he glanced at Vegeta. "Sorry, our fight ended like that. Once I'm back to full capacity, I will return."
"Hmph. Do whatever you want; it will end in my victory."
"CHACHACHACHA!"
"Whoa! Hey!" The childish voice of Goku said as he was busy dodging and rolling, avoiding Ki blast from a warrior from Universe 2 named Rozie. Her fists were moving so fast it was generating ki blasts, but a few of them seemed to have moved oddly and struck Goku in the face, leaving a red mark behind.
"HYAH!" A rowdy voice came in; it was Caulifla who kicked Rozie into a few giant boulders. Goku took on a more serious gaze as he saw Caulifla appear alongside Kale.
"Whew! Thanks for the save there…uh, Caulifla, right?"
"That's right! And now, We're goin' to fight."
"Sister…are you s-sure we should fight Goku? Even Celeon hasn't beaten him yet."
Caulifla gulped silently as she remembered that piece of information. "Yeah! If I beat Goku, I can prove myself to Celeon that I'm worth going all out against."
"Oh! You mean he hasn't fought you at full strength yet? Yeah, he does tend to hold back."
"Tch. It pisses me off!"
Goku furrowed his brows for a small second before grinning. "So, are you here to fight? If so, then let's start!"
Goku immediately went into Super Saiyan 2 and got in his usual stance.
"You ready, Kale?"
"Uh, y-yeah!"
"Hehe, let's do this!"
Caulifla transformed into Super Saiyan 2 as she rushed forward with a wide grin on her face. Goku's lips fell as he transitioned into a serious demeanor and blocked Caulifla's punch. To the female Saiyan's surprise, Goku didn't budge out of his spot, although his arms rattled from Caulifla's punch's impact.
Goku gave Caulifla an unexpected gut punch, making her eyes go blank. She took two steps back as she held her stomach. The hand Goku used to punch Caulfila went back to his sides.
"If you can't take that, then you're not ready for the next stage," Goku's tone was straightforward and harsh.
"Sister!"
Goku turned his attention to Kale, who seemed to flinch under the pressure exerted by Goku's teal eyes. "You're the one that Celeon talks about and how you pushed him to go into Super Saiyan."
"He talks about me? No, I can't let that get in the way! I have to help Caulifla."
Kale didn't respond as she clenched her fists. Goku was about to speak again, but Kale's power began to spike; a mirage of green colors came from Kale's wrists before expanding over the area. Caulifla looked utterly surprised by Kale's power. Sure, they trained for almost a year or so before attending this Tournament, but this was stronger than just training; Kale was going all out.
Desperate times are called for desired strength.
"Goku…I WON'T LET YOU GET AWAY FOR THIS!" Kale roared before her power fluctuated to untamed heights.
Goku's shocked face was shared with Caulifla as they watched Kale's body become more buffed, and her hair snapped, turning into a jet green; her eyes went blank as she did so, and a cynical smirk appeared on her face.
Across the stadium, the one named Jiren felt immense power. He was currently meditating, but the power spike interrupted him and caused him to stand on his two feet. Next to him was Toppo, who possessed a look of worry as he also felt the ominous power.
"Jiren…"
"I will intervene if they cause problems for our team," Jiren said coldly as he crossed his arms. He was interested in seeing the power behind the power spike. Should it get out of hand, he'll step in.
For now, he will leisurely wait and see the outcome of Goku's fight.
Back with Goku, the Saiyan was fighting off the ravenous number of Ki orbs that Kale sent toward him. Goku wasn't sure what this type of Super Saiyan was; it was more destructive.
Goku decided to respond in kind by turning into Super Saiyan God.
"Kale? Oi!" Caulfila's words fell on death's ears as Kale stomped toward Goku.
Kale was now on a destructive path.
Celeon and Hit, who were dealing with some fighters from Universe 3, stopped what they were doing to regroup on a standing pillar that formed from the damage they received.
"Kale's power is off the charts. It's higher than when we were training," Celeon said as he looked over to see Kale and Goku squaring off. "Should I step in?"
Hit pondered on the thought but shook his head. "No. I'm sure Kale will not hesitate to knock you out if we do. She only has one goal in mind: to get rid of Goku."
"I guess you're right. But, for now, let's observe."
"Hey!"
Celeon turned around to see three females with fury written on their faces.
Celeon blinked. "Huh? Me?"
"Yes, you! Incredibly handsome guy! You can't just stop fighting us to watch another fight."
Celeon nodded dumbly, ignoring the handsome part. "Right…So, You want to keep fighting?"
"You're my prey! So I'm going first. Ribrianne, Rozie, wait until I give the go!"
Celeon scratched his head. The one talking was Kakunsa, if he remembered it right. She had a feral appearance, and her teal skin added more to the appeal. She wore a black mask, a dark blue sleeveless bodysuit, green gloves, and green boots. She also possessed a blue colored tail.
Celeon looked at Hit for clearance, to which the Assassin nodded, getting Celeon to grin. Celeon jumped off the rock and into the small area where his next fight was about to happen.
"I have to warn you, I won't hold back," Celeon decided to go with his old stance, a hunched appearance, and dangling arms.
"Ha! Let's see what you got!"
Celeon and Kakunsa both charged at each other. Kakunsa had her arms out and hands in a cat-like style, most likely fitting in with her feral fighting style. Just as they were about to attack each other, they stopped and jumped back as a green ki orb passed them.
"Whoa, that was close," Celeon looked over to where Kale was and saw that her ki was burning brightly everywhere. The Omni-Kings were both delighted to see the show.
Celeon shook his head. He knew Kale would overcome the last hurdle. He needed to focus on his fight, and just as he went back to pay attention to Kakunsa, she was already overhead, getting the young Saiyan to bring up his right arm defensively and block her attack…which was biting into him.
Celeon muffled a shout and threw Kakunsa away.
"You…you actually bite?"
"I can do much more than that!"
"Why do I feel like she's messing with me?"
Goku was on defense, avoiding Kale's strikes, which were easy to grasp, considering her sloppy and predictable movements. However, getting hit by any of her attacks would cause considerable damage.
Goku shouted as he went to punch Kale, which landed on her face. Goku was expecting to do some damage, but his fist didn't even make Kale budge.
"W-Whoa…she's that strong?" Caulfila had fully recovered from the last punch and watched the fight intensely.
"Goku…THE UNDESERVING!"
Kale grabbed Goku by the jaw and began to squeeze; Goku was lifted in the air and thrown into the ground before Kale grabbed him by the legs and began slamming him on his back and face, breaking the floor beneath them.
"I have to put an end to this!"
Goku's energy flared, his once red hair now blue and his hair jetting upwards. Goku was able to escape Kale's sturdy grip and do some damage as he kicked her away. Goku quickly went for a Kamehameha, which struck. However, Kale's energy created an invisible barrier, allowing her to walk freely through the beam.
"Goku…WEAK!" Kale said in her mad daze as she struck Goku with a lariat-style attack and sent him flying into a few boulders.
Kale raised her head and gave a mighty roar that shook the entire stadium and stopped everyone that was fighting. However, it was briefly stopped as a ki blast struck Kale in the back, getting her immediate attention. Then, Kale's soulless blank eyes saw what attacked her.
A sniper was hiding in some rubble while a large, deep brown-looking man was sitting out of the open. Kale grinned instantly and shot a ki blast from her mouth, striking the two men from Universe 2 as they appeared next to their God of Destruction. They weren't the only ones who were hit as from Universe 7, Tien and Krillin were hit in the crossfire of Kale's rampage and knocked out immediately.
The Tournament was beginning to pick up the pace.
END
I think I'll end it there. We get to see Cabba and Vegeta fight, although it ends short. Then we get to Caulifla and Kale's brief moment fighting Goku, and when Caulifla got injured, Kale decided to stop holding back. I did things differently. Hoped you guys enjoyed it nonetheless.
I like to imagine Kale's berserk form from the manga instead of the anime. My biggest thing is how Kale goes from heavily tanned to fair-skinned. That doesn't make sense, so I also like to imagine Kale staying tan.
I know I haven't been doing much with Universe 7 and Universe 11 right now, but I will eventually; this arc will be quite lengthy as I'm focusing on a specific character/fight.
Feel free to leave a review; it helps!
AN (May 1st: So, it's been about 2 months since the last update, this was made in advance a month ago, and I already have up to chapter 15 done, but the reason for my absence is basically writer's block and lack of reviews. I want to see what everyone thinks of the story so far. I know it's fast-paced, but I'm more of a fast pace writer, but I still try to take things slow. I want to clear up things before anything. Super Saiyan God/Purple (Celeon's SSG) Is similar to Ultra Ego, and that was a mistake on my part since I read up some lore about it and is very similar than I thought, except I took out the damage rebuff, meaning Celeon does not get a boost in strength when he takes damage, just so it's not a rehash of Ultra Ego. However, Vegeta will get some inspiration from Celeon's SSG for the story's sake. Also, I know I had Celeon "Master" his evil ki, but remember, it only works on Saiyans, not everyone else, so he's not going to go around and vitalize the whole team, and I have a small arc planned for the repercussions for this, I don't want Celeon to seem overpowered without any drawbacks, that's usually a major problem with Saiyan OCs. One last note, if you're planning a story and need OCs, feel free to use Celeon and Crunch(Cerealean OC); just be sure to tell me in advance! Anyway, Idk when I'll release the next batch of chapters, so please don't expect it to be uploaded immediately.
