Hearts Entwined
"That was fun," Bella murmured against his shoulder as the train took them back to the city.
Edward took her hand, entwining their fingers and enjoying the current that traveled up his arm where his skin made contact with hers.
"I'm glad you enjoyed yourself," he said, planting a soft kiss on her forehead. "We needed a break from classes, projects and mid-terms."
"It was perfect," she whispered, her breath against his neck sending shivers down his spine. "You were perfect."
He smiled, remembering the date by the beach.
He had worked so hard to make it perfect for her and he felt pride that he was able to make her first time as special as she'd always dreamed. He had been gentle, taking his time to explore her body, to make her enjoy their love before the pain that was sure to come. He was sure he'd kissed every single inch of her skin before they were finally joined together, his lips kissing away the tears, murmuring words of love and comfort. She had trembled beneath him, her desire and need so palpable that his head had spun. He tried to last, waiting for her to enjoy it, but it was too much—too warm, too tight, too perfect.
He'd more than made up for his lack of restraint in the morning, though.
Twice.
"It was all for you," he confirmed. "I love you, Bella."
"I love you, Edward."
Their kiss was sweet and passionate at the same time; their mouths were closed, but the intensity of the kiss was not mistaken. Their lips pressed firmly against each other's, and when they pulled apart, they both took a deep breath, foreheads touching and eyes closed.
"You're my everything," mouthed Edward without sound.
A moment later, he felt her body relaxing more heavily against him, and he knew she was falling asleep. Without letting go of her hand, he pulled a blanket over them and closed his eyes.
Their hands remained locked together even after the train reached the station.
