Ch.5

Annabeth's Pov:

"ANNABETH, ANNABETH!" I turn and see my best friend Thalia running full speed towards me in the hallway. Hmm, I wonder why she's so exited to see me.

Then it hits me, shit she probably wants to bring Percy up, should I make a run for it now? I hear Mr. Oakley yell "Hey, you girl there is no running in the hallway unless you want a detention slip I suggest you stop this instant!"

he was clearly talking to Thalia. Mr. Oakley is an old pudgy man who teaches world history to the sophomores, I had him two years ago he was pretty nice until you got on his bad side then you can say things get ugly, sort of reminded me of the Greek god Dionysus.

"I'm almost there Oakley no need to yell!" Thalia responds.

Once she reaches my locker she grabs me by my shoulders and half yells

"Couldn't you at least called your best friend Annie, this is news, finally my best friend finds someone even if it is my cousin. Huh, who would have thought that Kelp Head would have befriended you and actually made you like him!

"Thalia, calm down I don't like him, I just met the guy. I mean yeah he is pretty nice and handsome, but that doesn't mean I like him does it?" I responded in a dreamy sort of way.

Thalia looked at me with an obviously your lying to me face. "Annabeth you practically gave me love sick eyes you like him just admit it."

"I mean ok fine I feel some sort of connection with him. But I haven't decided if there positive or negative feelings yet."

"Negative my ass, I know you like Perce and truthfully I'm so proud and happy for you, your finally letting go."

"That's the thing Thalia, I don't want to get hurt again, I don't want to get my hopes up and watch them disintegrate like a Greek monster." I responded sadly.

"Believe me Annabeth he isn't like that, he's a very loyal person, he's the type of guy who cares about people, who would do anything for that someone he loves. Plus Kelp Head wouldn't hurt a fly, well maybe if it bugged someone he cares about. Okay that sounds stupid. But as I was saying he's a good guy even if he is annoying I know he is starting to care about you even though you guys barely met. Oh I also heard about his little date thing on Friday." She gave me the "look"

"No its not a date, Thalia I just offered to show him around I think I'll take him to the beach I have a feeling he'll like it there because I'm pretty sure he won't want to go to the library.

"Ha, that's right Percy won't go in there for anything unless he absolutely had to. But he does love the beach I guess he feels a connection there he says the chilled air relaxes him, so that sounds like a perfect date Annie!"

I groan not liking that nickname "Don't call me Annie and Thals it's not a date I'm just showing him around as friends okay."

"Okay say whatever you want Annie." She responded and winked at me.

Just then the bell rings for sixth period. "Oh and Annabeth would you like a ride back today, Percy is taking us home." In my head I was totally screaming Yes! But I simply said "Umm, I'll think about it Thals, I can always just walk home you know."

"Annabeth you live like 15 minutes from here I'm pretty sure you need a ride."

"Not true Thals I actually like to take long walks."

"C'mon Annabeth I know you want to so just say yes" she insisted.

"Okay fine I'll get a ride from him today only because I felt like walking and didn't bring my truck."

"Got that right Annie, now c'mon we're gonna be late for sixth."

Percy's Pov

Wow the day certainly went fast. Last thing I knew I was already heading for my sixth period class.

Then I remembered that I was possibly going to see Annabeth after-school today and my inside's got really fuzzy and I started thinking of her beautiful grey eyes.

I was off into space thinking about her when I heard Leo, Frank, and Hazel yelling "Earth to Percy!"

They were the best I had met them today in first period and we got along so well as if we had known each other for ages. They asked me if I wanted to sit with them during lunch and I gladly accepted. Frank and Hazel were a couple and I'm pretty sure Leo had eyes for some girl named Reyna. That's pretty much all he talked about during lunch.

"Oh hey guys didn't see you coming." I responded dreamily

"Yo, Perce sounds to me as if your thinking of a special someone am I right, maybe a special senorita" Leo responded giving me a wink as well.

"Maybe, I mean she's just so perfect couldn't resist myself into thinking about her."

"Awe, how adorable Perce what's her name." Hazel asked.

"Her name is Annabeth I think Chase." I responded

"Oh we know her; she's a really smart girl." Frank responded. They all nodded their heads in approval. "Yeah Thalia and Jason introduced her to us. We met them at the homecoming game that was an interesting night." Leo said.

"No way well Thalia and Jason are my cousins!"

"Well then we're practically family Percy." Hazel said

"Yeah thanks guys I appreciate it, who would have known I'd be making really good friends in my first day here." I responded gratefully.

"Oh I know your part of the Leo Valdez's cool club." Leo said cheerfully. Hazel and Frank both groan "Please just stop Leo your embarrassing yourself! Now c'mon lets get going before we get late to sixth period wouldn't want that happening on your first day right Perce." Frank said.

"Yeah this is a fresh start I'm going to try to do good this year, so let's hurry." I insisted

My last class was a foreign language and San Fran offered Spanish, French, and Greek.

I decided to take Greek only because I had done three years at my old high school so I was pretty fluent. My dad also had been Greek so that led me into wanting to know about their traditions and customs. I was all for mythology. Plus I had that class with my new buds so I was okay.

We walked in and I saw Hazel and Frank take their seats, and saw Leo follow this pretty brunette which I'm guessing was Reyna because Leo was looking at her as if she were a million bucks. I guess I was alone this period, oh well I'd make a new friend.

I looked around and saw this red head with pretty green eyes and a slash of freckles covering her face. She looked at me and waved as if wanting me to sit next to her.

Well I thought that is the only seat available at the moment so I decided to take a seat with the red head. She spoke and said "Hi, I'm Rachel Elizabeth Dare and I've never seen you around here so I'm pretty sure you're a new students what's your name." Wow I wanted to tell her to slow down one question at a time, but I simply responded "Percy Jackson, nice to meet you."

She batted her eyelashes but I couldn't decide if it was a flirty sign or just a friendly gesture. I'm pretty clueless when it comes to these things.

"Well it's a pleasure to meet you too Percy you seem really nice and not to mention cute!"

Huh did I just hear that coming out of her mouth. I mean sure I was good looking but I had never been told that directly in person, she was very confident.

"Ohh uhh… thanks Rachel your pretty too." I hardly got those words out of my mouth with-ought blushing. I mean yeah she was pretty but I didn't quite see her that way I was more interested in curly blonde haired and grey eyed girls, meaning Annabeth. Rachel wasn't really my type but I didn't want to be rude and not return the compliment.

She looked at me with hopeful eyes and I decided not to compliment her like that anymore I really don't want to get this girl's hopes up.

"Aww thank you I'm really glad we met can't wait to have you all year in this class!" she squealed. I simply nodded my head.

Before she could continue the conversation this guy in a wheel chair and long beard came in the class. He shushed everyone and introduced himself "Hello class I am Mr. Brunner and I am introducing my self again for this young gentleman who is new here." He looked down at his attendance sheet and said "Percy Jackson"

I stood up and waved at the class. Mostly all gave me friendly smiles and Leo yelled "Go Perce!"

"Well Mr. Valdez thank you for your welcoming announcement, now everyone let's start today's lesson." Mr. Brunner replied.

I actually liked that class I mean all my classes were pretty cool but Mr. Brunner seemed so layed back and chill, plus we had a lot of class discussion which I liked.

The bell rang and Rachel stood up and said "Well see you tomorrow Percy!" then gave me a quick hug. I was pretty shocked about that even though it was just a hug.

My friends came towards me and Leo said "Wow, there Perce one at a time dude!"

I laughed and replied "Nah, she's just a friend, I'm more into this girl named Annabeth which I may see right now." He replied "Maaad game Percy!"

We all laughed and walked out of school me just thinking about a certain blonde girl which I couldn't get my mind off on.
