Magical Shot
I looked for a place to sit, spotting a bench a few feet from me. I dashed for it and sighed in relief when I sat down. It'd been a bad idea to wear heels to this art show, knowing I'd be standing for a long time.
"You know you're sitting in a piece of art, don't you?" I heard a man ask behind me.
I gasped and stood up like my ass was on fire. "Oh shit! I'm so sorry!"
The man laughed.
He was tall, at least six feet tall, and he was wearing a black sweater and grey dress pants. His hair was short on the sides, but longer on top and had a bit of a scruff on his sharp jaw. When he opened his eyes to look at me, they were a green hazel color, and his crooked smile formed a dimple on his left cheek.
He was shaking his head, his laughter dying down. "I was joking."
"Are you freaking serious?" I rolled my eyes and sat back down, letting out a grunt.
I heard him chuckling, and then he sat down next to me.
"Edward Cullen," he introduced himself, extending his hand.
I shook his hand, feeling a warm current run up my arm, making my breath hitch.
"I'm Is-Isabella," I stuttered, and then cleared my throat. "Isabella Swan."
"Isabella…"
For the first time in my life, I loved my name. The way he said it… damn! It came out of his mouth like slow meting chocolate and all things decadent.
"So, which one is your favorite?"
I shook my head, trying to clear up the sensual fog his voice had put me in, taking a look around the gallery.
There was one photo that caught my attention when I got here. It was smaller than the rest of the pieces, but I felt pulled to it. It was a simple photo, a forest path with light filtering through the trees. There was something peaceful and almost magical about it that I liked so much.
When I found it, I nodded towards it. "That one."
Edward hummed. "Why?"
I explained to him what called me to it. He regarded me with a smile while I rambled on about magic and fantasy.
"You're fascinating," he said after I finished rambling.
I blushed and looked down to my hands on my lap.
"I took that photo."
My head snapped up, my eyes wide. "You did?" He nodded. "It's beautiful."
"Thank you, would you like to visit the place sometime?"
"It's real?"
"Of course it's real!" he said, affronted by my comment.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean—I just thought you probably manipulated it with software or something…"
He shook his head. "No, I didn't. I only have really good filters and firm hands."
I bit my lip, looking at the photo. "I would love to see it sometime."
"Then it's a date."
I looked back at him, his eyes dark and intense.
"It's a date."
