Chapter 7: Realizations
Natsu looked out at the river, watching the night sky reflect on the water. He sighed.
"Why do I miss her so much?" He wondered aloud. "Yes, I thought she had died, but I lost Lisanna too, and it hurt, but not this much..."
Natsu closed his eyes and recalled a memory of his father.
Cue Memory
"Natsu, pay attention, boy, this is very important." The dragon sighed. Little Natsu sat down, looking to his father earnestly.
"Natsu, when you get older, you will meet someone. Well you'll meet lots of people, but this person is special. They will make you, and simultaneously break you."
"What does that mean?" Little Natsu whined.
"They will bring out the best and worse in you."
"Okay?"
"They will make your chest feel funny, and put butterflies in your stomach." Igneel explained. "You'll find yourself thinking about them a lot, and you'll always want to be around them."
"Like food? I like food."
Igneel chuckled. "No, child, this is a person. This feeling I'm talking about is love. It's more powerful than any magic on the earth, Natsu, and someday, you will discover it."
End Memory
Natsu ransacked his mind. Images of Lucy, Lucy smiling, Lucy angry, Lucy sleeping (the only time she won't yell at him), Lucy fighting. Natsu smiled, and noticed the warm feeling in his chest, and the butterflies in his stomach. He pictured Lisanna, and losing her. He felt sad, but it nowhere near compared to the pain, the emptiness he felt over Lucy. Do I love...Lucy? He wondered to himself. Love? Lucy? He never really thought about it, about love. He thought about it, and smiled.
Natsu was in love with Lucy.

"Yo."
Natsu looked up, past the fire, and jumped in surprise. "Gray?" He exclaimed.
"Natsu, you're an idiot. Did you really think we'd let you go alone?" Gray reprimanded.
Natsu looked and the entire guilewas standing behind Gray.
"Macao! Wakaba! Laxus! Lisanna! Nab! Erza! Laki! Mirajane! Jet! Droy! Master! Everyone! What are you doing here?" Natsu exclaimed.
"This guild declared war on Fairy Tail. They nearly killed Lucy, one of our own. This is unforgivable." Master Makarov explained.
Natsu grinned his signature grin, showing off his fangs. "Thanks guys!"

Natsu and Gray were sitting on the riverbank, not speaking, just watching the river.
"Natsu?" Gray broke the silence first.
"What is it, ice prick?"
"What do you think about Lucy?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well how do-what-the girls were wondering-how do I put this?" Gray answered.
"Do I love Lucy?" Natsu asked cheekily.
"Yeah. Because we all know how sad you were when Lisanna died. But it was nowhere near this bad." Gray answered.
"Yeah, I know." Natsu said quietly.
"So...Do you?"
"Why do you want to know?" Natsu replied.
"Because, flame brain, she's basically my little sister. I care about her and her well-being." Gray shot back.
"Oh. I thought-"
"You thought maybe I was in love with her? Not a chance dumbass." Gray snickered.
"Excuse me for not understanding what you meant, snow fairy!" Natsu shot back.
"You're excused." Gray snickered.
"Why you!-" Natsu sprung up, fists clenched.
"But seriously, Natsu, do you?"
Natsu was taken aback. He sat back down, and pulled his knees to his chest. Face in his knees, he murmured "Yeah, I do."
"You going to tell her?"
"Eventually."
End Chapter 7! Yay now we get the mush and fluff, lol.
