Chapter 4

George pov

We're sitting at the table. Drinking tea, eating biscuits, and reading. It feels weird to not do this by myself. But we are a team, right? "How far does this date back to?" I hear Lucy mumble. "I don't know but I think super early 1900s or late 1800s." I reply. She looks at me then nods.

Lockwood sighs. I turn to him as I notice him shuffling papers. He puts them in a different pile. "Lockwood, what are you doing?" I ask. "Nothing I just think those papers are important." I nod. Then Lockwood gets up and turns on the kettle.

"Hey… George did the Lockkeys always own the property?" She asks.

"Uh I don't think so, why?" I reply.

"Then who owned it? Maybe it's tied to all this?" She responds.

"Hm maybe… I'll need to investigate it…" I state.

"Great! Awesome! Do that tomorrow. We need to sleep." Lockwood declares.

"Why?" I ask.

"Because we have a guest coming tomorrow." He answers.

"Who?" Lucy questioned.

"Kipps…" Lockwood responds.

"Why?! He's a pain in the bum!" I whined.

"Because…!" Lockwood says. Lucy and I stare at him knowingly.

"Fine! Because he might help with the case." He states.

The room becomes silent until Lucy sighs.

"Ok fine whatever. Let's just rest. Lockwood can explain better after some sleep."

I nod and so does Lockwood.

--

"So, you ready to talk?" I ask. While picking up all the papers. Lockwood sighs and nods. "George its just that… he has intel on the situation, and he offer to help."

"So that all?"

"Yes,"

"So lucy has nothing to do with this?"

"Of course, n-"

"What? Do guys talk about me when I am sleeping or something?" Lucy asked as she made her way to the kitchen.

"No…" Lockwood said sheepishly.

"Whatever. When is Kipps coming?"

"Around 12."

"Ok…"

Lucy walked to the kettle and opened the led. Only to find it empty.

"George! Where's my tea?"

"I don't know! I am not your maid."

"Well, you sure look like one." Lucy mumbled.

"I heard that!"

"Whatever," Lucy said as she made her way back to the stairs.

I sit at the thinking table, thinking. That is until a sound breaks all my thoughts.

one knock

two knocks

three knocks

"LOCKWOOD!! GET THE DOOR."

"JUST COME IN!" Lockwood shouted to the door from the stairs.

The door opens revealing Quill Kipps.
