Chapter 7: I Need a Hero!
Before the impact came, a massive hand caught the helicopter! Jason and the triceratops separated and ran over to see Kong casually toss the helicopter away. "Jason, Kong did not listen", said an elated Lua. "Remind me to kiss that big ape for disobeying!", laughed Jason. What no one noticed was that Hunter had recovered. "Robots", he commanded, "Use the carnotaurs and take out Kong and his family!" The robots and carnotaurs soon surged over! Kong roared before punching one of the carnotaurs! But then, he was hit in the side of the head by one of the beast's tails! "They've damaged the device", said Dr. Jenkins, "It might be too dangerous to merge with Kong." "That's a risk we'll just have to take", said Jason, "Kong! Time for some team work, bro! Merger Sequence, engage!"
Kong and Jason then merged and went to work. When one of the carnotaurs struck, Kong punched it in the face before picking it up and throwing it into its other two companions! Suddenly, the T. Rex charged forward, knocking Kong over! Then, she kicked Kong into a pack of raptors! As Kong knocked the raptors away, he saw some of the robots aiming their weapons at his friends. He then rolled over them, crushing the robots before giving the T. Rex an uppercut that knocked the Cyber-Link away! Tiger Lucy and the T. Rex separated on impact as Kong grappled with two carnotaurs. She grabbed the Cyber-Link before running off.
Kong threw the carnotaurs away before turning to his friends. Just then, Hunter appeared with a bazooka! "Appreciate the soft landing", he growled, "But it changes nothing!" "Guess again, stagnant breath", said Tann as he kicked the bazooka away! But then, Hunter pulled out his knife! Lua threw a rock at him, but missed as Hunter leaped forward, only to be tackled by Tiger Lucy. "Take this", he said, firing the sonic laser at the T. Rex! The beast roared before attacking Kong! "Robots, help the T. Rex", commanded Hunter before Tiger Lucy kicked his knife away! Then, she punched him in the face! "That's for locking me in a cage", she growled. Tiger Lucy then grabbed a rock and tossed it at Hunter's watch, breaking it and rendering his sonic laser useless!
"Fool", Hunter growled, "Does it feel good to prolong my suffering?" Tiger Lucy stood still, which made Hunter smirk. He lost his smile when she began to laugh. "You're suffering?", she asked as Kong and the T. Rex grappled behind her, "Of course you're suffering, because that's just what you do, isn't it". Hunter growled with anger as the Tann and Lua picked up the robots' discarded weapons. "How has that worked out for you?", asked Tiger Lucy, "You thought you could take on Kong, but you couldn't find him without my help. Then, you tried to frame his friends for what you did under the mistaken assumption they wouldn't be able to prove you were behind this as a way to get all of your enemies together for a shot at revenge. It's not like anyone tried to warn you against such a miserable idea. Oh, wait, yes I did, but you just couldn't rest on your laurels. Couldn't just take the profits you were guaranteed". Hunter stepped forward. "You think you're entitled to everything just because you suffered?", asked Tiger Lucy as Hunter picked up his knife, "Boo hoo, you suffered. You suffered so much. Well I have news for you, pal: suffering isn't enough. You can't just be strong, you have to be smart; you can't just be deserving, you have to be worthy. But you're not worthy of being Kong's enemy, and you never will be! You're little more than a blight on the world, and everything you've ever done was for nothing"! "I'LL KILL YOU!", cried Hunter as he leaped forward. But then, Tiger Lucy dodged his stab attack and put the Cyber-Link on his ear. "Now you'll truly suffer", she smiled, "Merger Sequence, engage"!
Just then, Hunter merged with the T. Rex, turning into a massive reptilian monster. The creature roared as the robots surged forward. Kong used his forearms to block the laser shots, only for the creature to knock him back with his tail! Kong was then grabbed and slammed into the ruins of Madison Square Garden! Kong punched the creature in the face before kicking him aside! Just then, one of the carnotaurs bit down on Kong's arm! The creature took the opportunity to punch Kong, knocking him down! Before the creature could attack again, Tann and Lua shot at him!
The beast stomped down on their Jeep, forcing them to dodge! "It's not working", said Tann as he fired lasers at the creature's head! "Kong, help us!", cried Dr. Jenkins. Kong charged forward, knocking the beast over! But then, Kong was hit by lasers from the robots, allowing the creature to knock him back with his tail! "Let's cover him", said Tann as he shot at the robots. Kong grabbed the creature and forced him to the ground! They rolled over the last of the robots, crushing them in the struggle! Just then, the three carnotaurs attacked, overwhelming Kong! The beasts piled on top of him, snapping their jaws at him as he struggled to throw them off! The creature smirked before turning to the humans below. He raised his foot, ready to crush Tann, Lua, and Dr. Jenkins as they fired upon him.
Something in Kong snapped at the sight, and he let out a terrifying roar! Then, he grew to twice his height! "Oh no, he's become Mega-Kong!", cried Lua. Mega-Kong slammed two of the carnotaurs together before kicking the third one aside! The creature snarled before running forward and punching Mega-Kong in the face! He dodged one of Mega-Kong's punches and hit him with his tail! But then, Mega-Kong backhanded the beast, sending him flying into a building! Then, Mega-Kong grabbed a large piece of debris and threw it at the creature, knocking him off his feet! But then, the creature dodged Mega-Kong's slamming fists and climbed onto his back! The beast bit down on Mega-Kong's shoulder, but was then thrown off and slammed into the ground! The creature kicked Mega-Kong in the face before sweeping out his legs with his tail! Before he could attack further, Mega-Kong got up and slammed the creature into the ground before running dragging the beast along the concrete! He then threw the creature into a building before punching him! Mega-Kong threw another punch, but the creature blocked it before kicking him away! The beast tried to run off, but Mega-Kong grabbed him by the tail and threw him into the ruins of Madison Square Garden! The creature weakly tried to attack, only for Mega-Kong to throw him to the ground and stomp on his chest!
"He's going to kill him", cried Dr. Jenkins. "Jason", cried Lua, "You have to stop!" Just like that, clarity formed in Mega-Kong's as and he pushed the button on the Cyber-Link to separate from Jason. Kong pulled the Cyber-Link off of the creature, reverting them back to their true forms. Hunter quickly ran over and grabbed his bazooka! "One shot left", he said before pulling the trigger! Kong dodged the attack, which hit the T. Rex in the jaw! "Ouch, now that has got to hurt", quipped Tann. The T. Rex groaned in pain before falling over. "TIMBER!", shouted Tann. "Is he…?", asked Jason. "No", said Dr. Jenkins, "But when he comes to, he'll have quite the headache." "Well", said Jason as he turned to Hunter, "looks like you'll have to fight your own battles now". Hunter tried to shoot again, but Kong flicked the bazooka out of his hands! "That one's not just out of the park", said Tann, "It's heading for Jersey!" "No more robots, sonic laser, or T. Rex", said Jason, "Still think you can take us?" "Oh, I won't have to", said Hunter as he fell to his knees, "People know about Kong now. Others will go after him, and you as well". Jason, Tann, Lua, Dr. Jenkins, and Kong shared a look. "How long until they know what I know?", asked Hunter, "What de La Porta knew? There's a lot of people who want to rule the world; Rastapopoulos, Cinder Fall, and V.I.L.E, just to name a few. They'll all be after the Primal Stones now, and that means they'll also be coming for your crown, Kong". "If it's a fight they're looking for", said Jason firmly, "then we better not disappoint". Hunter snorted, but said nothing as the police and Mayor Mitchell arrived.
"Take Hunter Stag III away, boys", said Mayor Mitchell quietly. The police slapped the cuffs on Hunter and drove off with him. "Tiger Lucy is still on the loose", said Jason. "Oh, don't worry about her", said Mayor Mitchell, "We need a way to remove these animals from the city. Any ideas?" "Kong is their king", explained Lua, "They will follow and obey him". Kong grunted to emphasize. "Hunter is right, though", said Dr. Jenkins, "There's no way we can keep this a secret". "So we don't", said Tann, "It's about time people realized the truth". "Yeah, that my big brother is a hero", said Jason with a smile. "From the reports I've heard, Kong went out of his way to help people in peril", said Mayor Mitchell, "I'm willing to honor him for that". "Glad to hear it, Mr. Mayor", said Tann. "Just one question, though", said Mayor Mitchell, "What should happen if someone finds him again?" Kong simply smashed one of the broken robots with his fist! "Point taken", said Mayor Mitchell, "Very well. It will be a pleasure to work with you, Kong". He then shook Kong's finger with a grin.
