Carly's POV

I opened my mouth to scream as Caius entered the room behind David. This wasn't supposed to happen it didn't even make sense. I had made so much space between us, how could they have tracked me from this far? My captor placed their other hand firmly on my mouth to muffle it as I looked at David with panic. No! No! This can't happen.

"You've been very disobedient Carly running away like that. I almost had a panic attack when I heard you were gone, do you realise the damage you've caused?" Caius said as he took one step closer to David. He had a grin so malecious on his face it made my heart sink as I leaned foreword, moaning in protest.

"I was very lucky I had Demetri here to track you down. Did you know he's the best tracker in the world? As long as he's met a person he can find them anywhere so there's no hiding." Caius added softly.I flickered my eyes back at the vampire he talked about. He stood proudly with his red eyes as they looked down at me. "Don't scream it will only make it worse."

Caius stepped around David who shook with fear. He was very confused and he didn't know what to do. Only that trying to run would probably end in his death. I wanted to burn all these vampires to death, but that would only frighten him more. David would avoid me and I couldn't handle something like that.

"I also have Chelsea with us, she's here to make you feel different." Caius said as he looked to the side at a brunette vampire. She gave him a small nod to acknowledge his words. It was confusing, how could she change the way I feel? I was set on my opinion and there was no way I would feel different.

"Now back to your disobedience, there's always a consequence for breaking the rules. Most of the time I would take your life, but sadly I need you for your gift." David turned his head back slowly as Caius stood behind him again. "Since there still needs to be a punishment this should suffice." At the end of his words he wrapped his arms around David's chest resulting in the most sickening sound of snapping bones. I could see blood begin to ooze out as bone pushed itself out the tender skin.

It was uncontrollable as I let out a painful shriek that not even Demetri's hand could cover. I pulled harder then ever making my arm let out a popping sound as it pulled out of socket and Demetri finally released me. David looked at me one last time, his eyes full of complete agony before he let out his last breath. Caius released the limp body as I nearly threw myself at him.

I lifted up David's head placing it in my lap as I stroked his cheek hoping he would wake up. He couldn't be gone this was too sudden. Besides, we still had so much to do, so much to learn. I couldn't loose him right now.

"David, please wake up you're going to be okay." I pleaded with him. I patted his head hoping it would stimulate some movement. He didn't reply to me at all creating a near panic. "Come on David stop, it's not funny!"

Caius chuckled darkly. "You're delusional." He commented as he looked at my tear stained cheeks. "Can't you see he's dead, he can't answer you."

"H-he's not dead, he's just really hurt. Maybe if I take him to a hospital everything will be all right and they'll fix him up." I said hopefully, I wasn't ready to let go.

"Let me rephrase this, do you hear a heart beat at all? Without his heart working, he is a dead man. You should know that better than anyone considering you've lost people before." Caius said folding his arms almost impatiently.

I placed my head on the bloody chest to hear no signs of life. He... He was dead... Everything began to feel numb as I looked back up at David's murderer. Sound was blurring as my ears seemed to tune out. I was in so much pain I couldn't seem to produce tears at this tragedy. My mouth dropped open as I spoke words that made no sense, I couldn't hear them.

I stood up giving an almost rebellious look to Caius as I snatched the sharp knife off the table. If David was gone then I was done, Caius could continue to play his sick game but I wouldn't. He was truly disgusting.

I sharply trusted the knife into the center of my chest standing there for a few seconds as blood began to drop down to the floor. I was going to follow David where ever he went.

Caius's friends seemed horrified at what I had just done. They stared hungrily as the blood dripping down my stomach yet knew they couldn't eat me. Caius's expression didn't change because he didn't understand my pain at all. As far as I was concerned, he thought it was some kind of human temper tantrum.

My legs collapsed as life began to leak out of me. I was dying and Caius would never get what he wanted. He would never have the satisfaction of commanding me. I stared up weakly at Caius as he stood over me with an amused expression, as if he knew something I didn't. He lifted up my limp head moving his mouth to my neck. A sharp stinging started as he bit down hard pausing as he injected venom inside me. Venom... No he can't!

A burning pain began to spread out I reached out to David's body. "No I want to go with you." I whispered softly.

Narrator's POV

Carly let out a soft moan as Caius released her carelessly to the floor. Her fingers twitched as they felt the full effect of the venom, changing her completely with no reverse. Once the transformation started, you couldn't change it because it destroyed any hope of becoming human again.

Caius looked at Chelsea. "Break every single bond she has. Make sure there's nothing left." He wiped dark red blood off his lip with a gentle finger. "Then bond her to the Volturi."

"You mean right now? During her transformation?" Chelsea asked as her eyes flickered back and forth. She seemed unsure about something.

"Yes, is there something wrong with that?" Caius asked even though it wasn't a concern for him.

"Master... Her mind is really weak at this time; if I do it now, she could be very unstable later. It's very unpredictable, and I don't know what will happen." Chelsea said in one breath as she bent down next to Carly's shaking body. "Are you sure you want that?"

Caius seemed to ponder her words for a second. If Carly was unpredictable, they could end up with a ticking time bomb. She could explode at any second for absolutely no reason. He nodded his head, deciding to risk it. "I don't care if she's angry all the time; I don't care if she's happy. The important thing is that she obeys orders without question."

"If that's what you wish," Chelsea replied quietly. She placed both hands on Carly's head to stare directly at her. Carly's eyes seemed to be rolling everywhere as she kept slipping back and forth in and out of consciousness. Her pain was forcing her to pass out, only to have her wake up from it. She couldn't seem to find an in-between for it at all, which was understandable. Every human reacted differently to vampire venom and each one was interesting.

"Look at me," Chelsea said to Carly as she tried to steady the body. Carly, who couldn't make out who anyone was, tried to focus on the figure. Her pained expression became something emptier. Her shaking stopped as her eyes hardened into ice, void of emotion. "It's done," Chelsea said, placing the head back down softly.

Caius nodded as he paced around Carly. "It should be interesting to see who she is once the transformation is over." He glanced at Demetri. "You can drink up whatever is left of that man; you earned it."

"Thank you Master," Demetri said with a bow as he walked over to the broken body. Chelsea stood close to Carly's body, almost perplexed by her lack of emotion as she continued through the transformation. But maybe that's what it was. Carly chose not to feel because that was better than the truth.

"I'm going out for a hunt," Caius said, stepping towards the door. "It's been a while." His voice trailed off as he glanced back at his group.

"It should be easy; this is New York after all," Chelsea added in. She watched Caius disappear out the door before turning her attention back to Carly. In one quick motion, Carly had gripped onto the collar of Chelsea's dress. Her expression switched back to a pained one as she gritted her teeth with a soft rage. "Impossible," Chelsea said glancing at her conflicted eyes. "You're trying to fight the bond."

"I'm going to destroy you all," Carly managed to mumble out. Her voice halted as she let out a loud gasp, gripping her head in pain as she crumpled down. She let out a weak scream as she wrinkled her eyes shut as if she was fighting a giant migraine. The screams continued as she rolled to her side trying to make the pain stop. Chelsea straightened herself up, looking at Demetri with worry. "You don't think she will do this again do you?"

"No, it can't be. Maybe the bond was weaker because of the change. It should settle down once she's done," Demetri said slowly. Chelsea nodded to agree with him, deciding they didn't need more trouble anyway.

Carly's POV

As I woke up on the cold stone floor, a feeling I would have felt at the moment was confusion, yet it wasn't there for some reason. In fact, nothing was there at all. I could feel nothing. Having no emotion was...numbing. I didn't care much for others. The only problem was, I didn't know what to do. My head was blank and there was nothing for me to do.

I pushed myself up, my head flickering side to side with an empty expression as I awaited a word that would spring me to life. I finally stopped on Caius's face, instantly knowing I should listen to him. He stared back with an excited expression; anything he said I would do. There was nothing I could think of to say no to.

"Eat," Caius said simply as he pushed a frightened woman into view. I tilted my head as the delicious scent wavered in my nose, its source letting out hysteric pants as she tried to accept her hopeless situation. I appeared quickly by her side, clamping down tightly on her neck to let the blood flow into my mouth. My hand gripped her mouth quickly to keep the screams down to a minimum as the woman struggled, only stopping when my force snapped her neck.

I shoved the corpse down, glancing at Caius as I waited for my next order. That was all I could think about—what he wanted me to do next. What I wanted didn't matter at all, especially since I didn't feel anymore.

Caius walked over to me, his expression which could only be explained as overjoyed as he took a few steps around me. "What's your purpose?" He asked with a slightly curious voice.

I gave him a look as if it was most obvious. "My only purpose is to do what you want. It doesn't matter if your choice is immoral or not. Your choice is always correct," I recited automatically. I stopped there, waiting for his next words.

"This is exactly what I wanted from you the first time." Caius said quietly. "It was so obvious at the time, and now you finally see it my way." I nodded to agree with him as I was obligated to.

He pulled out a grey clock, handing it to me as if it was a great honor. "Carly, welcome to the Volturi."
