Chapter 9
'What just happened?' Darcy asked. 'Icy, did you know this woman?'
'No, I have never seen her before.' The ice witch frowned.
'Are you sure? It seemed like she talked to you.' Bloom wanted to know
They were still standing outside. No one dared to move after the strange woman disappeared.
'Did anyone understand what she said.' Brandon looked at his friends.
'I don't even know what language that was.' Stella replied.
'Whisperian.' Griffin answered. 'She was speaking whisperian.'
'Did you understand what she said?' Bloom asked Griffin. The old witch nodded and translated the few words.
'She said, Give up, you can't win this fight. We are everywhere. You can't resist us forever.'
Icy visibly turned pale. More than she already was.
'Her eyes…were blood red…they looked like….like..' Icy stuttered. She wasn't feeling very well right now.
'Like Belladonnas eyes. Yes, I noticed.' Griffin finished her sentence.
'Was that Belladonna? That's not possible, right? Faragondas shield is supposed to be able to keep them out.' Bloom got nervous.
' We opened the shield to let the reporters in. We won't make that mistake again.' Faragonda walked over to them. She just finished making sure all the reporters were gone and activated the shield again.
'I think she took control over the poor womans body. She was inside of her head, probably a little trick Liliss came up with.' Griffin said
'Do you think she broke into our dorm room?' Flora asked both Icy and Bloom. She forgot the others didn't know about that.
'WHAT!' They simultaneously said.
'We will explain later.' The fire fairy replied 'That is possible. But what could she have searched for?' Bloom continued.
No one knew what to say.
'It's been a long day. How about we go eat dinner and then go to our rooms.' Timmy said.
They all agreed.
'Whose bunny is that?' Addy said excited
They just got back to the Winx suite. They barley closed the door when Addy spotted a little bunny on the couch.
'He's mine. His name is Kiko.' Bloom answered.
'He is adorable. Can I pet him?' Addy asked and waited until the fire fairy nodded. Right away, she started to play and pet Kiko.
'Is he even allowed to be here? I thought schools didn't permit students to bring pets or any sort of creatures.' Addy wanted to know.
'That was just Cloudtower.' Stormy replied.
'That's why we had to hide Knut inside a wardrobe.' Darcy said.
'What happened to Knut?' Addy looked at them.
'He is here in Alfea.' The ice witch told her
'Are you being serious?' Addy smiled. 'I haven't seen that ogre in years.'
'I don't want to interrupt your conversation, but maybe we should all go to bed. I have a feeling that tomorrow will be a long day.' Brandon said
'Are you staying in Alfea?' Stella asked
'Yes, Faragonda allowed us to stay in one of the empty dorm rooms.' Sky answered.
The winx girls all said goodnight to their boyfriends, before they left the dorm room.
'Guess what, sunshine, I will be staying as well' Addy smirked at the blonde fairy. She and Darko left the room as well.
Stella just stared after her and rolled her eyes.
'Great, now I have to sleep with my eyes open'
'Do you think Belladonna is able to take control of someone else?' Bloom asked her new roommate.
It was the first night all of them were sleeping in their new rooms.
'I don't know.' Icy said sleepily. She was laying in her bed.
'Do you think she could get inside our rooms?Again.' Bloom continued to ask questions.
'I don't know.' The ice witch just wanted to sleep.
'What do we do if she does?' Now it was starting to get annoying.
'Then you're on your own.' Icy held up her arm and showed Bloom her bracelet.
'What if she already is?' Bloom asked after a pause and looked skeptically at Icy.
'Then we better hope this bracelet is really able to keep me in check.' Icy answered. She had the same thought as Bloom. Belladonna could be in the room. Maybe her ancestor was already inside her head and listening to their conversation.
'You would tell us if you felt something strange, right?' Bloom wanted to know.
'Yes.' She said truthfully. 'Now, shut up, I am trying to sleep.'
They stopped talking until both of them fell asleep.

Icy was standing in the courtyard. Belladonna was in front of her. The ice witch tried to run away but she couldn't move. Red eyes were watching her. She tried to shout for help, but no words came out of her. It was a nightmare. The old witch started to float towards her. She had a devious smile on her face. There was no escape. Belladonna stopped when she was right in front of Icy. She put both hands on her neck and squeezed.
'We are everywhere. Stop fighting it.' Belladonna croaked. Her eyes were glowing.
Icy couldn't breath. Belladonna was making sure she couldn't. Her hands were burning on her skin. It felt like fire. Icy was about to give in. She faintly heard a voice she didn't recognize.
'Wake up. You need to wake up. Keep fighting her. Don't let her in. '
Wake up? She was sleeping? It felt real to Icy.
Keep fighting. Don't let her in.
'Why isn't it working.' Belladonna screeched.
Nightmare and reality started to blend together
'Why isn't it working!'
Icy was pulled back into reality. She tried to take a deep breath, but she couldn't. Something stopped her.
Red eyes. She could see red eyes. They were staring down at her.
She wasn't dreaming anymore. Someone was sitting on top of her.
Her eyes widened when she realized who it was. Bloom. She was strangling her. Her eyes were blood red.
Panic started to form inside the ice witch. Icy tried to fight her, but Blooms grip on her was too strong. It also didn't help that she felt like she was about to faint because of the lack of oxygen. She couldn't use her magic, the bracelet didn't let her. There was no way to escape.
She reached to her night table and grabbed the first thing she got a hold of. Without hesitation she slammed the bedside lamp against Blooms head.
The fairy immediately got knocked off the bed. Icy couldn't breath, her neck felt like it was on fire and tears started to form in the corner of her eyes. She tried to escape, but she only fell out of the bed. She wasn't strong enough and she felt how she was about to lose consciousness.
The witch heard Bloom let out a deep growl. The fairy stood back up and walked around the bed.
Blood red eyes.
Icy was certain that wasn't Bloom looking at her, it was Belladonna. It was a horrifying.
Flames started to dance around the fairy. The dragonflame, no doubt. The heat alone was almost killing Icy. She didn't want to get in contact with the fire, especially when she wasn't able to defend herself.
'What are you doing? Stop it ! HELP!' The loud noises must have alerted someone.
She could hear someone coming into the room.
'Bloom? Your eyes!'
Bloom started to attack them.
''Oh my god. Icy!'
''Go get Faragonda!'
Icy didn't know how long they fought, but at some point she felt someone kneeling at her side.
'Icy, you need to stay awake. Try not to move.' Icy identified her as Flora.
'Flora, her neck!' Stormys voice was shaking.
'I need your help. You need to hold her down. I need to put something on to the burn wounds.' Icy felt a her sisters hands on her shoulders. Her neck must look as horrible as it felt. Did she say burn wounds?
Whatever Flora was doing right now, it hurt like hell. A sharp pain went through her whole body. Stormy had a hard time keeping her down.
'You are hurting her!' Her sister was crying.
'I know. I know. But I promise it will help.' The flower fairy tried to soothe the witch. Her voice was quivering as well.
''We need to get her out of here.' That voice belonged to Darcy. She sounded concerned.
'I don't know how much longer we can hold her off.' Was that Addy? Someone must have woken her.
That's when everything started to get blurry. She could faintly hear Flora and Stormy telling her not to fall asleep. She tried, she really did. But at some point she felt how she drifted away.
Icy wasn't sure how long she was unconscious, but when she woke up again , she wasn't in her room anymore.
When her eyes finally got used to the light, she tried to stand up. Pain went through her whole body.
'Hey, no, don't try to stand up yet. You are just going to hurt yourself.' Flora again. She was in the infirmary.
Icy tried to say something. But the fairy stopped her. She helped the witch to sit up.
'You were hurt pretty badly. Do you remember what happened?'
Icy nodded.
'You scared us for a second. We thought you wouldn't make it.' Flora said. 'Bloom burned your neck when she strangled you. And your throat will be sore for a few days.'
Flora saw that the witch wanted to say something. She gave her a pen and paper.
-Belladonna inside Bloom. Red eyes-
'Yeah, we figured that out as well.' Flora read what the witch wrote. 'Bloom is currently being interrogated by Faragonda and Griffin. Darcy is trying to get inside her head. Addy is there as well.'
-Anyone hurt?-
'No, just you.' Flora answered ' And Bloom. You hit her pretty hard with that lamp.'
-I'll write her an apology letter.-
Flora didn't have to hear the witch. She knew that was meant sarcastically.
-Stormy?-
'She had a bit of a meltdown. I gave her something and now she is asleep.' Flora stood up and opened a window. 'She was terrified of losing you. Both of them were. And a few other people were as well.'
Icy didn't write anything else down.
'Listen, I have to go get a potion. Can I leave you alone for a few minutes. It won't be long. ' Flora asked and Icy nodded.
The fairy was about to leave when there was a knock on the door. Darko stood in the doorway.
'Maybe I should stay for a few more minutes?' Flora turned around and looked at the ice witch and waited for a reply.
-It's alright.-
Flora nodded and walked out of the room.
'If you want me to go that's ok. I just wanted to make sure you are still alive .' Darko said after staring at her for a minute.
-Still got a pulse. Stay?-
Darko went over to Icy and sat down on a chair. She saw how he looked at her neck.
- How does it look like-
'Crispy.' Darko joked.
-Funny.-
Darko was sure she originally meant that sarcastically, but he could see in her eyes that she did find it a bit amusing.
'It looks a lot better than before. The salves already worked a little.' Darko answered seriously.
-You were there?-
Darko nodded. He explained to her how Addy and him were woken up by the music fairy banging on their door. She shortly told them Bloom was attacking people. It looked like a warzone when they arrived. He took a short glimpse at Icy before someone told him to go get Faragonda, he didn't have any magic and couldn't do anything against Bloom. When he came back with the headmistress, the girls already managed to knock Bloom out and Icy was unconscious.
-Bloom normal again?-
'I don't know. No one is allowed to go there, until they know what happened.' Darko answered. 'Scoot over.' He took off his shoes and sat down on the bed next to the ice witch. Their shoulders were touching and there wasn't much space, but it wasn't uncomfortable.
' I checked on Stormy. Apparently the flower fairy gave her something pretty strong. ' Darko looked at Icy. There was something in her eyes he couldn't understand. 'What?'
Icy hesitated before writing down
-Magic = Emotion-
'Yeah, I know.' Darko answered. He remembered quite clearly how they argued and Icy directed her magic against Bloom when she was angry. She let her anger control her magic. Rookie mistake.
-Convergences need same source of emotion.-
Then he realized. That's what Darcy and Stormy argued about. Stormy and Flora were able to combine their magic.
'Could be hatred.' Darko thought out loud.
-Unlikely-
Of course. A fairy wasn't going to base her magic on hatred.
'She likes the fairy.' He concluded. ' You think Stormy is attracted to girls?' Darko carefully asked
- Darcy and I suspect it. Don't think Stormy is aware.-
That's why Icy stopped Darcy from saying anything further.
'You ok with that?' He wanted to know
Icy shrugged her shoulders. She didn't really mind and she certainly wasn't going to tell her to stop. Neither was Darcy. They didn't particularly like that she apparently had feelings for a fairy but they will get over it. The problem was that Flora had a boyfriend.
'You and Bloom managed a convergence as well' Darko continued
-Based on hatred.-
'I thought fairies didn't base their magic on hatred?'
-Should've noticed then something was wrong-
Belladonna had been inside of Bloom. The reason they found a way to combine their magic was because of the tiny bit of darkness inside the fairy. That's why their convergence wasn't as strong. There wasn't enough hatred. It seemed logical now that she thought about it.
'You know, it's weird, you're warm.' Darko said after some time. It was true. The ice witch normally was cold, but because of the bracelet her temperature was the same as Darkos. He didn't like it.
-Don't like it either-
Icy laid her head on Darkos shoulder. She ignored the pain her neck was causing for a minute. She was exhausted.
'You never were "just a girl" .' Darko looked at Icy and kissed her head.
-I know.-
Both of them fell into a comfortable silence. After some time the door opened and Faragonda stepped inside together with Flora. Without missing a beat Icy quickly scribbled something down on the paper and gave it to the old fairy.
-I want a new roommate-
