Chapter 12
Normal P.O.V
Natsu feel on his knees, grief written all over his face.
"No. It's not possible." He whispered, not believing that Lucy could be dead. Erza stepped around him, keeping a cool composure, and walked over to the coffin.
"We don't know if she's in here, or if she's dead yet." She said, lifting the lid. She gasped, immediately stepping away.
"What?" Gray asked, and went to have a look, followed by everyone but Natsu and Happy. They all had the same reaction.
"Natsu." Happy begged, trying to pull Natsu to his feet for a look. Natsu took a deep breath, and stood up. He shakily stepped over to the coffin, peering down into it. Lucy looked peaceful, her beautiful eyes closed, and her lips parted only slightly. Something seemed wrong, though.
"Something's not right." Natsu whispered, reaching down to Lucy, just to have his had swatted away by Erza.
"She's dead, Natsu! Of course something's not right! Damon killed her!" She said, her voice shaking, and her eyes blazing. Natsu just shook his head.
"No. Not that. Something else. She….. I don't think she's dead." He said, much to the shock to everyone else.
"What? Are you crazy Flame-brain?" Gray growled.
"She's dead." Juvia said, slightly happy, but ultimately sad about the situation.
"No. She's not. I can hear her breathing." He said, strangely calm for Natsu. Everyone froze in shock.
"What?" Erza whispered, stepping over to the coffin, and reaching to Lucy's face. She looked up at Natsu.
"Your right. She's breathing." She said, relief all over her face.
"Let's take her to Porlyusica-san!" Wendy exclaimed.
"Oh, I wouldn't do that." A voice said behind them. They all turned to see Damon standing in the door way.
"You!" Natsu said, glaring at him.
"The name's Damon, thank you." Damon said, stepping over to the coffin, and brushing Lucy's cheek with his fingers.
"Ah, Lucy, did you miss me?" He whispered.
"Creepy." Happy whispered.
"So, fairies, you found her. But what are you going to do. If you remove her from the coffin, she will die. And if you remove the coffin from the shack, it will lock forever, suffocating her. And magic won't work, sorry little sky dragon slayer." He said, patting Wendy on the head.
"What are you doing here?" Erza growled.
"I am simply making sure you don't kill my precious Lucy." He said, turning to them and smiling at them. They all had shock on their faces.
"Ok. Fine. Ready for a history lesson? Here we go. I met Lucy when we were five. Our fathers were good friends, and when we lost our mansion to reconstruction, they graciously invited us to their house. We stayed there for half a year, well, my parents did. I caught a terrible sickness. But, before I did, I and Lucy were best friends. We always played. And she was the one who stayed with me practically the entire time that I was sick. Through it all. Then her mother died. And I was the one that was there for her when she needed it. You see, I had developed a silly boy crush on her. I was always afraid that she never felt the same day. Until we were fourteen. She kissed me. On a night that we snuck up on the roof. Haha. What fun we used to have. We were engaged. Then, she did something terrible that ruined my life, then ran away." Damon said, then turning to Natsu.
"And then, I had the perfect way to get her back. Make her see that she wasn't loved by the one she loves. And make her run away so I could capture her. Which I did. And you, fairies, just happened to be the perfect opportunity to have some fun." He said, with a smirk.
"How do we fix her?" Erza growled, pointing a sword at him.
"You can't kill me." He said, grabbing the blade.
"And why not?"
"Because Lucy would never forgive you." He said, holding up a jar in his hand. Inside, was a small ball of yellow light.
"What is that?"
"My ticket to you not killing me." He said, smiling.
