Chapter 9
The moment Toga tells Inuyasha that Kagome's a priestess is unbelievable. "What do you mean she's a priestess?" Inuyasha asks as he points to the girl. "Oh, son don't be so childish. It's the truth." Toga comes to him. Kagome on the other hand isn't freaking out. "So he really fell for it?" Izayoi asks her. Kagome nods with a smile. "Yeah. And it was amusing." She crosses her arms with a wide smile. "Do you have any idea what you're doing to us? You expect me to have a priestess as a mate? Forget it." Inuyasha growls and slams the doors to the house.
Kagome now feels bad for what she did. "Don't worry about it, Kagome. Inuyasha always had a short temper. He'll be fine in the morning. Let's get you home." Toga assures the girl and offers her a ride. Kagome doesn't hesitate to accept the ride in Toga's car as he drives her home. "Were you aware about me being a priestess?" Kagome asks him curiously. "Yes. I've known a few great priestesses throughout my life. Hearing about you made me intrigued." Toga answers her honestly. "Who else were around?" Kagome asks him a bit more eager than she thought. "Well before I met Izayoi, I met Midoriko. She's the legendary priestess who ever existed. She had a mystical jewel within her body, which made her a target to enemies on a daily basis. Due to my own power, I made sure that no one would lay a hand on her. As such she and I became good friends. She knew about my mate and Izayoi. She made sure that we would live in peace with the rest of the land. As such she was one of the founding members of the council." Toga explains his backstory.
Kagome didn't see that coming. "She was one of the first members? I thought that only demons were allowed to be part of the group." She said calmly. Toga nods as he pulls up to Kagome's house. "Here, this will explain the history of the Council." He pulls out a small jump drive from his pocket. Kagome respectfully takes the device. "I'll make sure Inuyasha will come around." He said as Kagome gets out of the car. "Ok. Good-bye. Mr. Takahashi." Kagome waves and heads upstairs to her shine.
Inuyasha is in his personal bathroom, relaxing in his jacuzzi. Being a half dog demon, he has quite the six pack. He doesn't even care that his long silver hair is in the water as well. The day he had must've worn him out. "Damn. Why didn't my old man tell me that Kagome was a priestess. They're not supposed to be around at this time of age." He said to himself with a scowl. The door opens up to see Sesshomaru entering the room. "Hey, you can't just simply walk in here without knocking." Inuyasha glares as his older brother who just leans onto the counter where Inuyasha's products are located. "Oh, don't be like that. Father told me what happened when I got home. I must admit though that you got yourself a handful." He snickers in the end.
"Are you gonna lecture me like dad?" Inuyasha leans about against the pillow behind his back. "Nah. You've been though enough today. I just came in to check up on you." Sesshomaru said in his cold demeanor. "I'm not a kid anymore, Sesshomaru. I'm 17 years old. I don't need someone to look after me." Inuyasha tells him. "Oh I know that for sure. However, it's going to be the other way around." Sesshomaru said back as he checks his own claws.
Inuyasha grabs his towel and wraps it around his waist, and wringing the water that remained in his hair. "What are you talking about?" He asks he goes into his closet to get a beige short sleeve shirt and red checkered pj pants. "Even though it's not close to that point, you will have that urge to be with her nonstop." Sesshomaru informs his younger brother. Inuyasha begins to brush his teeth. "I could care less about her since I found out she's a priestess." Inuyasha said after spitting out the toothpaste from his mouth.
Sesshomaru shakes his head. "Say it as you want, but I can promise that it won't be that easy to resist it. Once it happens, you're done for." He said before leaving the bathroom. "Yeah, 'won't be easy to resist'." He mocks his brother's comment. "I could care less about her." He goes to his desk and tries to finish up any remaining homework he needed to do when he got home from school.
Kagome closes her backpack that has her finished homework. "At least that's out of the way." She smiles as she goes to her closet to put on pink and green flower pj pants and a blue short sleeve t shirt. She noticed the device that Toga gave her when he dropped her off. She gets her laptop from the slot by her bed and hooks it up. The file pops onto her screen. She clicks it to see it's a document. She clicks to open an app that it requires to show the information.
Once opened, Kagome begins to read the article it provided. "Back in the feudal era, there were constant wars between demons and humans with unique abilities. Among them was the legendary priestess Midoriko, and the Great Dog Demon of the West. At that point, they both decided to create an organization to maintains the balance between demons and humans. At that point, Midoriko and Toga both represented their own groups who were loyal to them. As such, they just call it "The Council". Time goes by and nothing violent happened. Along the way, there have been offspring who were known as half demons based on the demon's origin. When the news broke out, both humans and demons alike wanted to get rid of the species but Midoriko and Toga intervene and provide a protection program to keep them safe with the help of Shiori, a half bat demon with the capable ability to create a safe haven with an impenetrable barrier. Thanks to her, the half demons that lived there grew up with the powers their inherited from their demon parent."
As much as Kagome could read so far, she was interested to know more about this history. Knowing best that she cannot take this to school with her, so she leaves the hard drive in her bedside table drawer. She falls asleep before 11 and hopes that tomorrow will be ok.
