Chapter 15

Lucy's P.O.V

I opened my eyes from the darkness, blinking in the light. My first thought was surprise. I was alive! The next, was of the person that I saw first. Natsu. My heart quickened. Natsu. Natsu Natsu Natsu.

"Nat-su?" My voice didn't want to work. The word came out broken, and raspy. He turned. My mind barely noticed everyone else that was in the room, only Natsu seemed to matter. He looked worried, and relieved. I licked my lips. Strawberries and…wine? My eyes widened with knowledge. I tried to say something, anything, to ask what was on my lips. It couldn't be, could it? My eyes moved, looking at all the other people. My heart quickened. Damon.

"I tried to stop him, Lu." He said, crossing his arms.

"Stop what?" Natsu asked. I licked my lips again. The same results. I willed my words to form, but nothing came.

"You gave her the cure. Now she's on a timer. She will die now, even faster." Damon spat out, glaring at Natsu. Natsus eyes widened.

"What? How? When? Can we stop it?" He asked, now frantic.

"Yes. But only Lucy can tell us how, but her voice doesn't work, nor her body. Side effect of the Poison." Damon said. I looked at Natsu, willing him to understand what I was trying to say. His gave moved to mine, horror and something else deep within his black eyes.

"Lucy?" He asked, seeming to know that I was trying to tell him something. I willed my lips to move, for the bubbles of air to form words.

"Li-qui-" I tried. Something came out.

"Liqui? Liquid? Liquid what?" Natsu asked, frantic now.

"B-rn"

"Burn?" Now he was just confused. My body wouldn't let me say the word I needed to.

"Ma-gc."

"Magic?" He echoed.

"Liquid burn magic?" Erza said somewhere to my left. That was all I could manage. I closed my eyes, utterly spent.

"I wouldn't let her sleep if I were you." Damon said, his voice bored. But I could hear the anger and anguish edging his words like a knife. It killed me. I heard him draw something out of his coat, and I opened my eyes to see what it was. My letter. He handed it to me, looking down on me with anguish and fury.

"I promise, dear Lu, that you won't get out of this alive. And if you do, I will hunt you down till you either die, or feel the pain that I suffered through." He whispered into my ear. I stared at him, challenging him. He smirked.

"See you around, fairies. I have work to do." He said, and with that, he simply vanished, leaving me frustrated and everyone else confused.
