Sharon rushes home and is surprised to see the front door open of their house. She swallows, reaching into her handbag for her gun, instantly assuming the worst. She slowly makes her way through the house and inspects each room before noticing Andy's feet over the armrest of the sofa. She inches closer and is taken aback by what she sees before her.
Andy lies on the sofa resting, step-granddaughter sleeping upon his chest. He reaches a semiconscious arm up to assure her safety. He opens an eye, shocked to see his wife standing in front of him, "Hey..."
She pouts slightly, tears in her eyes. She knew how hard it was for him to look at the little girl, more or less willingly babysit for her. "Your phone was off." She smiles softly, "Now I know why." She returns the weapon to the place where it was before.
"She was tired."
Sharon nods slowly, "You look cute with a baby on your chest like that again." She's able to sit on the edge of the sofa, reaching a hand up to stroke his silver hair.
He smirks, watching her and placing a hand on her knee, casually. "I always look cute."
She quickly realizes that this is what needed to happen in order for him to start feeling like himself again. She nods, "Very true, Lieutenant." Her eyes drift to the chubby infant, face squished against her husband's chest. She hums a quiet laugh, "It's times like this when I miss Katie being this size." Her hand moves from his hair to rest on the infant's back as she snores softly.
"Yeah." Andy continues to watch his wife before she finally catches him looking at her, "You alright?"
Sharon nods slowly, quickly wiping her eyes. "Before we know it, this family we've built together is going to be..." She pauses, tilting her head to the side, "Where does that leave us?"
"Shar, we've never not had a child to look after. Not many relationships started the way ours did. It will be a nice change." He takes hold of her hand, "I swear it."
"You couldn't possibly swear that."
"No, that's true. However, Kate is still going to be under this roof for a long time, not to mention Freya and any other grandkids that come along. The older crowd will come and go too. Mac and Rusty..." Andy grins, "No one is putting us in a nursing home, yet."
"Couple more years for that, huh?" Sharon smirks.
"Just a couple." He watches her, "No matter what though, we'll be together." When she nods, but doesn't look entirely sure, he squeezes her hands, "You got it?"
"Yeah." She leans down slowly, kissing his lips tenderly, "Kate's playpen is still in the closet, would you like me to go retrieve it and set it up so that you can put her down?"
"We're alright. She'll probably be up in a little bit." Andy nods, "I mean, look how comfortable..."
Sharon smirks, "You're right."
"I can't bother her with a face like that." He motions her close, kissing his wife again, "I love you, Shar."
"I love you too." She gets up, silently taking her heels off as to not make any noise against the hardwood floor, "Did Eve say how long you need to watch her?"
"No, why?"
"Well, I just thought it would be an interesting idea to go for a walk." Sharon places her hands on her hips, "I left Mac and Kate at the office."
"Her seat is in the kitchen. I wouldn't mind going to help you-"
She smirks, "You just can't stay away."
"I'm fine, but I'm going stir crazy around here." Andy raises his eyebrow and gives her one of his smiles, the kind that she cannot possibly deny.
Sharon glances toward the kitchen, knowing where he usually sits for his morning paper and coffee. She hums her amusement as she retrieves the seat, setting it near him. "You've only been here for a day by yourself...and you aren't even alone." She motions to the infant in his arms.
"I forgot what this felt like." He smirks, bringing a hand to rest on the infant's diaper.
"Best part is the smell." She takes her seat on the edge of the sofa near them again, "Spoiled milk and baby oil."
"I never thought spoiled milk could smell so good." Andy chuckles softly, falling still his movements when the baby starts to stir on his chest. She pushes herself up on her arms, looking him in the face. "Hey." His voice is hushed as he reaches up to stroke the baby's back, "Sleep well?" The infant blinks, smiling groggily.
Sharon grins, "How about I take her and you go ahead and clean yourself up?" She carefully takes hold of the infant.
Andy slowly rises from the bed, taking a deep breath as he stretches, "I'll be right back, Freya. I'll save you from her." He teases, smirking when he hears a giggle from his wife as he walks away.
Sharon adjusts Freya, looking her in the eye. "So...You've finally gotten your claws into him." She smirks, seeing the baby laugh and offer her a gummy smile, "I knew it would only be a matter of time."
