After Ginny left with her family, Harry's failure to do everything that he was supposed to have done that day came rushing to his mind, and his mood had quickly soured.

All this time he'd been daydreaming about what it would be like to know more about Wandless Magic that he hadn't even stopped to consider the possibility that all might not go like he wanted it to.

Fortunately, there had been a Quidditch match going on that evening. Ginny had explained Quidditch to him earlier, and it did sound very interesting on the Wireless. It was a game between the Montrose Magpies and the Holyhead Harpies, and it was enjoyable, he supposed. There was just so much going on in his head that he hadn't been able to focus on it fully.

Tom the bartender had seen his vacant expression and suggested that he go to The Flying Broomstick for a better experience next time. He had no idea what it was, and frankly, he had no intention of going out that day, so he'd just nodded and went back up to his room.

He was getting bored the next morning, though, and he could only read the school books for so long before his head would start to hurt. So, he decided to check out Tom's suggestion, and boy was he glad that he did.

The Flying Broomstick looked spectacular. The outside building was massive, essentially like a small Colosseum. He hadn't entered the building yet, but he couldn't find a single kid his age who was sad or unhappy to be there.

Walking towards the entrance, a sign that read 'The Flying Broomstick' shone down at him.

The walls in the interior of the building were made of stone, as was the floor. There was a massive counter to the left with a board next to it that showed the timing of matches as well as some other information.

He read that people could see a live broadcast of a Quidditch match from this place. That was cool! Much better than hearing it over the wireless anyway.

"Here for the Flying compound?" Someone asked him. Harry turned to see a woman in all white robes smiling down at him.

"Yes," he replied, having no idea what that was. He supposed Tom had recommended this place to watch a Quidditch Match, but this didn't seem related to that.

"Go down the stairs to the right at the end of the corridor," she told him.

Thanking her, Harry quickly made his way towards the stairs that she had mentioned. There were several other children of various ages that were heading down with their parents.

It was a long and winding path, but eventually, Harry made it down into the basement of the building. His jaw dropped open when he stepped out into the compound.

In front of him, there was a massive, wide open area, covered with lush green grass that looked like it had been trimmed by someone at Privet Drive. There were four sets of three hoops supported high in the air with a massive pillar; two sets each on the left and right sides, one set to the front and one to the back.

That wasn't even the strangest part, though.

There were several people, mostly kids, that were flying in the air, zipping around on their Broomsticks. Some of them were performing feats that looked like they should have landed them in the hospital.

Harry was watching all of this with an open jaw, but suddenly, a flying golden ball came over right in front of his eyes and zoomed away. That must have been the Golden Snitch that Ginny had told him about.

He saw two people on brooms chase after it from where he was standing. A medium sized ball was speeding towards them, and they both barrel-rolled to the side to avoid it, never giving up their pursuit.

It all looked incredibly cool! Not just the teens chasing the snitch, but also everyone else that was performing acrobatic feats on the broom. He hadn't ever thought anything like this was possible!

Wanting to try his own hand at flying, he looked around for a broom that he could try out. He didn't even mind paying for it. An employee found one for him eventually, and Harry thanked him.

He made his way over to a relatively empty space, and he was relieved to see that not many people were performing any stunts here. He still thought they were cool, but he didn't fancy getting hit by one of them or anything.

How did one fly, though? All the kids looked like they'd been doing this for months, but he had no idea where to even begin. He was also, probably, late to the party, for there were practically no children on the ground.

He decided to lift a leg over the broom and keep it in between his legs. Maybe it flew on its own and he just had to guide it? But the broom didn't even react to him doing that, so he supposed that wasn't the case.

Maybe he could jump? That seemed reasonable. Somewhat. In a world filled with Magic. He shook his head, took a deep breath, and jumped, but that too, didn't accomplish anything.

"Harry!?" He heard someone say incredulously. He turned to the sound, and he was hit with the second surprise of his day.

"Ginny!?"

《••••••••••••••••••••》

Today was a strange day for Ginny.

Just that morning, she had talked to Bill about the Diary that she had stolen, hoping that he would have some insight. He didn't, and upon taking a look at it, he'd also told her to not tell Mum or Dad till he knew more about it.

This struck her as extremely odd, and she didn't understand his reasons, not that he told her them, but she could tell that he was disturbed by the Diary, and that made Ginny feel nervous.

Bill had gone to Gringotts, and after begging him to take her along, he had agreed. Unfortunately, he hadn't been able to convince the Goblins to let her into the Academy, and that was why she was here at the Flying Broomstick, waiting for him to come.

Bill had been beyond shocked to hear that she could fly. That was one of the highlights of the day.

But right now, she was watching a black haired boy try his hand at flying. He wasn't quite succeeding, though, sadly. He reminded her of herself when she first started flying. He jumped up, and she felt like laughing at their similarities.

She decided to fly closer to him and help him out. How easy would this have been for her, if she'd had a friend, or someone willing to help her? A bit of resentment crept up inside her, but she squashed it down as she got close to the boy.

His black hair, rather messy in a unique way, was the first thing she noticed. She'd only ever seen it on one boy before, actually. Wait, now that she mentioned it, he looked rather similar to…

"Harry!?" She asked, her voice turning incredulous.

He turned around, and those brilliant green eyes of his grew wide in surprise. He was obviously not expecting her here either.

"Ginny!?" He replied, suggesting just as confused.

"What are you doing here?" She asked with a furrowed brow. She slowly floated down and landed.

"I- I could ask you the same thing," he replied. She blinked.

"You could," she said slowly. "But I asked first."

He cocked his head and shrugged. "I was bored. The bartender at the Leaky suggested I should come here yesterday, so… here I am."

"My brother had some work to do and I asked him to bring me," she replied, nodding her understanding. She wondered if his parents were here as well, and how well they knew Tom the bartender.

"Are you okay?" He asked her, bringing her out of her thoughts.

"Hm?"

He waved a hand. "You know," he said. "After… well…" he trailed off.

Suddenly she realised what he meant. It was sweet that he was worried, she thought with a smile, but it was unnecessary. "I'm fine," she said.

Sure, she'd had nightmares about what had happened yesterday, along with one that her brain had made up about her getting caught, being turned into a Puffskein and sold to some obnoxious kid like Ron who would wipe his boogers on her (he shuddered at the thought), but she was alright.

He didn't look like he believed her, but she supposed the shudder must not have helped. She glanced about for a change of subject, and noticed his broom lying at his side.

"You need help there?" She nodded at his broom.

"Yeah, I think I do." He looked sheepish.

'You really do' Ginny almost said, but considering the fact that a few months ago, she had been where Harry was right now, she let it go.

"Watch," she said instead. And then proceeded to outline what one should do exactly while riding a broom. She then jumped up and hovered a few feet above him.

He put his broom between his legs, and pushed himself up with all his might. For a moment, she thought he would fall, but he hovered just like her. His grip on the broom was turning his knuckles white, but he relaxed it eventually. And still didn't fall!

"Brilliant!" She said, clapping her hands together, and Harry laughed, causing the broom to wobble a bit. She grinned at his panicked expression. She knew full well he wouldn't fall though.

"Can you teach me more?" He asked when the broom was back under his control. He was still grinning. She smiled wider and nodded.

"Lean forward to go forward," she said. Harry apparently didn't need any more encouragement and moved himself towards the handle of the broom.

"No, wai -" Was all she could say before she watched Harry shoot forward as though he were a professional seeker or something. She chased after him, worried that he would fall, but he managed to fly really well.

Someone flew in front of him, and she was worried they'd crashed, but Harry effortlessly swerved to the side to avoid the person. Her jaw dropped open. Was he pretending to be struggling or something?

The answer to her question was made clear when he suddenly sat up, causing the broom to lurch and nearly throw him off his seat.

"Bloody -" he began, as his bum slammed onto the handle.

"That was brilliant!" Ginny exclaimed, flying over next to him. He could handle a little bum slam. "I thought you were going to die, but you did good!"

He sputtered out a laugh. "Thanks."

She waved a hand dismissively. "Don't mention it."

Ginny couldn't remember having as much fun as she did in the last few minutes. Even Harry was laughing a lot more as she taught him a few of the tricks she'd learned from her nighttime adventures.

Now that she had seen him like this, she could see that he looked a lot more free than he did before. Before, he looked as though he had the weight of the world on his shoulders for some reason.

"You're really good at this," Harry commented when they took a break. A Quaffle had knocked into Harry and nearly thrown him off course.

She beamed at him. "Thanks," she said, feeling warm inside. "I sort of taught myself. Recently." She couldn't stop the words, even though she'd promised she wouldn't tell anyone other than Bill so soon.

"That's cool," he told her, grinning, and the warm feeling increased nearly tenfold.

The moment was broken when she saw the door to the compound open from the corner of her eye. She turned to it, expecting Bill to be there, but it was just a random person with a kid. Her good mood faltered a bit.

"You okay?" Harry asked.

"Oh, yeah." She shook herself. "Totally fine."

He didn't look like he believed her this time either, but he dropped it anyway. "Do you go to Hogwarts?" He asked instead.

"I will," she said, unconsciously reaching for the pocket of her robes where her Yew Wand was kept. "Starting this year, actually."

His eyes went wide upon hearing this information. "I start this year as well," he said.

She grinned at him. "That's great!" She replied. "We could sit together on the Hogwarts Express! I could save you a seat or…" she traild off, her cheeks burning.

"Wait, wait," he said, shaking his head and saving her further embarrassment. "What's the Hogwarts Express?"

Ginny blinked, but then she remembered that Harry saying that he was raised by Muggles. Wait, but Professor McGonagall should have explained this to him already if that was the case…

"It's the train by which we go to Hogwarts," Ginny said when she realised she hadn't really answered.

"We go by train?" He asked, furrowing his brow.

"Of course!" She replied. "We have a lot of trains in the Wizarding World."

He nodded, probably still processing that information. "How do you not know that?" She asked after a while. "Didn't Professor McGonagall tell you?"

"Who?" He asked. "Oh, the Deputy Headmistress?"

Ginny nodded. "Forgot about her already?" She had met the Professor once. Quite the intimidating woman, even though she had been perfectly polite, having come over to congratulate Bill on his admission to the Curse Breaker's Academy.

"I never met her," Harry replied, shrugging. "Professor Dumbledore told me about Magic. It was really cool."

"Oh, yeah, it must have been," she said, smiling. She hadn't ever heard about the Albus Dumbledore telling people that Magic existed, but she supposed McGonagall must have been busy…

She opened her mouth to say more, but a voice interrupted them.

"Hey, Ginny." It was Bill. "Who's your friend?" He asked.

"This is Harry," she said, standing up. She was suddenly aware of the fact that she'd told Bill a lot about Harry. A lot. She turned to Harry. "This is my brother Bill."

"The Harry?" Bill asked at the same time, to which Ginny nodded. Bill extended a hand for him to shake. "I've heard a lot about you." A smirk grew on his face, and he gestured to Ginny with his head. "This one wouldn't shut -"

"Are you done with your work?" Ginny interrupted the dumb, moronic, idiotic, git. Stupid brothers…

Bill nodded. "Yeah," he said. "Mum Floo called as well."

Ginny's eyes grew wide. "Oh," she said. Mum didn't know that Ginny was at Flying Broomstick, thankfully. But…

"I didn't tell her, don't worry," Bill assured her, and that did make her feel better. She took back everything bad she'd ever said about Bill. "But she does think that you're suffering from explosive Diarrhoea now, so you might want to prepare yourself for those Potions. Oh, and Mum hasn't improved the taste either."

She silently took back her takeback as she glared at Bill, who ignored her. "We've got to go, though."

His words made her realise that she had to leave now, and for the first time, she felt like she didn't really want to go home yet… she was grateful when he walked a bit farther away.

"Well," said Harry, drawing her out of her thoughts. "It was great meeting you again, Ginny."

He was smiling at her, and she smiled back, trying not to feel too disappointed. "Yeah, you too, Harry," she replied.

They were both starting Hogwarts this year, though! That meant she would see him soon. Sort of soon. It was two months away after all… She shifted her weight from one foot to another and back a few times as she made her decision.

"Are you free tomorrow?" She asked.

"Will you be here tomorrow?" He asked at the same time.

"Yes," they both said.

Ginny blushed again, but a laugh did escape her when Harry averted his eyes.

"Bye," she said, and he replied in kind, giving her a short wave as she walked towards where Bill was standing. They made their way out of the courtyard when she saw Harry fly up into the air again.

"Are you free tomorrow?" Bill asked in a horrible impression of her.

"Oh, shut up."
