Katara ran down the unknown street with tears threatening to spill. She replayed what had happened just moments ago. She saw Mai press her lips to Zuko's and her brain just malfunctioned. That must have been why she got the impression that Mai didn't like her. Why they had ordered the same drink at the bar. They must have been together at some point, if not still together.

Katara began to spiral as her run faded to a stop. She felt her heart sink to her stomach. It was unclear what her and Zuko were. Friends with benefits? Talking? Did she even have a right to be mad at this? She thought of how tangled their whole situation was. She was simply running away from her problems in Ba Sing Se. She met Zuko on a plane for La's sake! She felt like she barely knew him but knew everything about him all at the same time. They're few days together felt like a lifetime. She thought there had been something special between them and then this happened. What was this to him? Was she a side chick? Revenge? Katara had no idea where they stood and yet there she was. Running away from her problems once again.

"Katara!" She heard Zuko's voice in the distance. Footsteps getting louder as they approached. Katara froze in place, not wanting for face the Prince.

Zuko had finally caught up to her after she stopped under a streetlight. He slowed his pace as he approached her. She was looking down at her feet as he made his way in front of her.

"Katara, it's not what you think," Zuko said desperately grabbing her by the shoulders. She was still looking down trying to avoid him, "She came on to me. I know that sounds like an excuse, but it's true."

Katara shrugged her shoulders from his hold and finally looked up at him. He could see the tears welling in her blue eyes.

"Zuko, what is this?" Katara had said angrily, Zuko took a step back surprised that she had raised her voice."What are we even doing? Is this just some sort of game to you? Revenge on your ex? Am I just a play thing? Was I reading the situation wrong?"

The tears began to spill from Katara's eyes and Zuko just looked at her, dumbfounded. He didn't know what to say because he didn't even know what they were.

"I left Ba Sing Se to avoid my problems and I got tangled in- whatever this is," Katara said biting back a sob, "The worst thing is that I don't even have the right to be mad, but I am. Because I liked it," Her voice had trailed off. There was an uncomfortable silence between them.

"I liked us," Katara said quietly looking down at her feet again tears falling down to the sidewalk. Zuko closed the space between them and gently grabbed her face tilting it up to face him.

"Katara," He said her name so gently as if she was going to break. He wiped the tears running from her eyes with his thumbs, "Honestly… I have no idea what this is and you weren't reading the situation wrong. All I know is that I enjoyed every moment I spent with you," Katara looked into his eyes as if she were searching for something. His eyes locked in hers as tears continued to spill.

"When I'm with you, you're the only thing that exist," He admitted to her nervously, "Even when I'm not with you, you're the only thing I can think about… I liked us… I still like us."

"What is 'us'?" Katara didn't know what answer she wanted to hear from him. She didn't know if she was ready for anything serious, with the future Fire Lord none-the-less. She didn't even want to think about the complications that came with that at this moment.

"We can be whatever you want this to be," Zuko lied. He knew he wanted more than just messing around. He knew that the tightness in his chest and the butterflies fluttering in his stomach whenever he was with her was more than just physical attraction. But, he didn't want to push her into a relationship she wasn't ready for.

Katara didn't know how to answer him. She didn't know what this feeling was. What she wanted them to be. His warm hands were still caressing her face. She placed her hands on top of his and did the only thing she could to answer him. She kissed him. Zuko returned it in kind pulling her face closer to him and holding her firmly in place as if she was going to run away again. Katara let go of his hands and wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him closer. This just felt so right. They separated to catch their breaths, eyes never leaving each other.

"Let's go back to the beach house," Zuko said quietly.

"Okay."

Mai was squatting against the wall of the club smoking the last of her pack of cigarettes. She had remembered the despair on his face as he watched the water bender run away and the seriousness as he left to chase after her. In their whole four years of dating, she had never seen Zuko so expressive, so desperate. Azula and Ty Lee came tumbling out of the club to see Mai finishing up her last cigarette.

"You reek," Azula said as Mai stood up. She noticed Ty Lee looking around.

"Where's Katara and Zuko?" Ty Lee finally asked remembering she saw both of them walking out of the club.

"Katara saw me kiss Zuko and she ran away," Mai admitted flatly. Azula's eyes widened as Ty Lee gasped.

"Mai, you didn't!" Ty Lee said in shock.

"Well I got my answer," Mai said dusting off her skirt, "He chased after her."

"Mai," Azula walked up to her and was face to face with her, "As much as I love to see my brother squirm in awkward situations, this was not the right time," Mai scoffed and turned her face away from the princess.

"Azula-," Ty Lee tried to interject. Azula took Mai's face into her hand and forcefully faced it back to her.

"I consider you a friend, Mai." Azula said venom in her voice, "But toying with my brother is crossing the line. He's over it. Get over it and move on. He has other things to worry about besides you." Azula let go of her face just as forcefully as she had grabbed it. Mai looked away again, trying to hide the tears welling in her eyes.

"Noted," She said as emotionlessly as she could.
