Shine 9/10: Red Coins of the Windmill.
A/N: Crystal Spear's form names if you haven't notice are from the Greek Alphabet, this is so I can keep track of them easily while also giving me twenty four different forms without using generic stuff like form 'one' or form 'A'.
^Day 4 around five O'clock - Bianco Hills^
Mario appeared at Bianco Hills for the ninth time and saw Mr. Shades waiting for him. Mario rushed over and stood waiting for the Shine info.
"Hey Mario! I noticed that eight red coins have suddenly appeared up atop the tightropes that connects the smaller windmills to each other!" Mr. Shades explains.
"Smaller windmills?"
"Yeah, the ones that are always under attack by these weird wind creatures. If you need help locating it just head towards the huge windmill and look up."
"Oh okay, thanks Mr. Shades!" Mario shouts and ran off down the white, wet path.
Bastian stood with a Pink Orb that was his best minion. Below them they could see Mario and 'Mr. Shades' talking.
"My master isn't happy with me Crystal," Bastian growled as he held the sphere in his right hand.
'sorry master, maybe you can help?' Crystal Spear weakly suggests.
"No! Now go, be grateful I am much, much, much, more apologetic then my master. But fail me again and I swear upon Bowser's good name that I will make your life so unbearable that you'd want to end up like that Petey freak rather then see me again! Now be gone!" Bastian yelled throwing Crystal Spear off his vantage point atop a cliff, as he threw her he activated her so once she landed she was in her neutral form. (Not natural, neutral)
Mario stopped atop the metal bridge connecting the windmill mountain and the tree filled area, he was looking up at the really tall, wooden, wobbling windmills as glowing spikes of energy slowly arced across the many tightropes connecting them.
"How come everything has to be able to hurt me?" Mario asked nobody but FLUDD replied anyway.
"Because this would be boring if it were easy, also they are electrified by Iglimar when he made his grand lightning storm last time."
"Really? I didn't think he-ah hit anything but me? Weren't we in-da hole?"
"When he originally jumped up and down he had actually struck out arcs of lightning everywhere, since I was behind you I saw most of them hit the wires that collect the windmill's energy." Mario replied with a sigh.
"You again!" A female voice rasped and Mario spun around to see the crystal creature from yesterday.
"You aren't here to cause any trouble are you? Remember what-ah happened last time!" Mario stated as he pointed at Crystal Spear.
"You won't get the Red Coins before I do, not with this much at stake!" Crystal Spear yelled and jumped up into the air, her orbs glowed bright orange light. "ACTIVATING PROTOCOL GAMMA!" The light died down and huge rocky head with connecting arms appeared before Mario. (Bouldergeist but with the hands connected and made of pink crystal with orange orbs on the palms and eyes)
"WAAAH!" Mario screamed jumping with shock, he fell over and landed onto FLUDD painfully. "What is that thing?" Mario yelled standing up.
"I believe it gave quite the introduction, obviously protocol gamma." Mario ignored FLUDD and quickly ran across the metal bridge.
"Die Mario!" Crystal Spear yelled and flew after Mario, she formed a large chunk of crystal rock and threw it at Mario, it missed and tore through the bridge with ease. Mario rushed up the mountain and used some fancy jumps to skip some segments. A large group of crystal shards flew into the wall Mario was near and he heard some 'cling' sounds from his back.
"Keep running, your back is relatively safe when blocked by me!" Emile commands and Mario ran up the winding path and quickly found his way to the bottom of the windmill, a large rock smashes into the windmill above and broke the centre piece of it, this caused the wheel to break into multiple segments and collapse down towards Mario. Mario jumped off the ledge and used Emile's hover nozzle to stay afloat in the air, he waited until most bits stopped (and before he ran out of hovering time) before going back onto the stone path.
"You just broke an iconic building you know!" Mario yelled at Crystal Spear as she flew around the now windmill-less windmill.
"I don't think it cares about that." Mario looked at Crystal Spear as she stopped in the air not too far away from him.
"What's wrong? Unable to climb up now?" Crystal Spear jested and Mario ran forward and jumped off the ledge and with the use of FLUDD landed onto Crystal Spear's right hand. "Hey get off!" Crystal Spear shouts shaking her rocky arm. Mario jumped off and used Emile to reach a wooden platform. Just then a group of five Wind Duppies flew over.
"Eh lookie 'ere, some new toys ta play with! Come on boys! Let's get 'em!" A Wind Duppy shouts and the five began to circle Mario.
"Get lost!" Mario yelled squirting one, the water went through the living air. Mario ducked as one darted at him and it flew overhead. Mario got up and started to run across the tightrope that led to another small windmill platform but with a red coin on it. A blue spark of sentinel electricity watched Mario as he ran across the tightrope, it smiled devilishly and channelled itself towards his feet.
"Incoming!" Emile warns and Mario ducked with great difficulty, a Wind Duppy flew past him.
"Thanks Emile, almost halfway there- what is that?" Mario yelled watching the blue spark flow across the rope towards him, he was freaked out by the face on it. It was about to get his shoes when Mario simply hopped over it and continued on, unaware it could reverse direction.
"Incoming!" Emile warns and Mario looked back at the spark, he jumped backwards and it ended up in front of him. "Incoming again," Emile warns and Mario ducked, a huge chunk of smooth crystal slams into his back and sends him flying into a wooden pole holding up a platform, it cracked and he fell onto a lower platform.
"Hey! A Red Coin!" Mario happily shouts as he grabbing a Red Coin.
"Give that here!" Crystal Spear shouts flying in front of Mario, just then a Wind Duppy flew into Mario and he was knocked forward, the coin leaving his grasp. "Yes!" Crystal Spear shouts but the coin didn't fly into her hand, instead it angled away and fell into the water below with Mario. "It's not supposed to go at an angle!" Crystal Spear flew down but saw Mario take the coin and swim to shore. "Tough luck getting the rest!" Crystal Spear yelled and flew up to grab the rest, the Wind Duppies then spotted her.
"Great work on da fat guy guys, now how's 'bout we tackle this thingy!" The leading Wind Duppy shouts excitedly and the five start darting into Crystal Spear. While this was happening Mario was making his way across the tightropes they held the now broken bridge up. He got across and started his apparent daily run up the mountain, once up to the highest point he could get he looked over at Crystal Spear, she was being attacked by the five whirlwinds but it seemed they were mainly just an annoyance to her because they couldn't even move her. Mario took a few steps back and ran forward, he jumped off the edge and propelled himself towards a platform. Mario reached out and barely grabbed the wooden edge, suddenly a sickening crack comes from below him.
"What happened?" Mario asked as more cracking noises came from below.
"The Crystal beast threw something sharp and broke the wood," Emile observes as Mario pulled himself up, just after the platform toppled over and the whole upper half of the wooden pole smashed down into the water far below. . . Mario included.
Crystal Spear had nabbed seven of the eight red coins by the time Mario finally made his way back up to the windmill's top. "I see you have no way of reaching the mills now, and I have all seven extra coins so hand over your one!" Crystal Spear yelled flying in front of Mario, the Wind Duppies were still attacking her.
"Hey guys, try hitting those orange spots," Mario slyly says and Crystal Spear's eyes widen in shock once she realised what Mario meant. The Wind Duppies made some sort of sound in ecknoledgement and charged at Crystal Spear's weak spots, the orbs flashed and Crystal Spear screamed as her unstable energy exploded outwards making her return to her small, harmless, pink orb. Said pink orb then fell down into the water below with a splash, seven red coins also fell out.
"Why ah thanks man, we probably woulddent be able to take down such ah beast without ya help!" The leader of the five Wind Duppies says as the group flew over to Mario. Since Mario was close to them he could actually see small brains inside the wind and each Wind Duppy had a face (no nose).
"Your welcome, mind not hitting me anymore?" Mario asked.
"Ah sure thing matey, if we see ya we'll back off!" The Wind Duppy says.
"If you see any Shine Sprites could you let me know by the way."
"Sure thing, if we see any we'll give ya ah shout, come on boys! Off to Noki now!" The Wind Duppy says and all five flew off. Mario jumped off the edge and dived into the water below, he then got the red coins and collected his Shine Sprite.
Bastian recollected Crystal Spear with his mental powers, he now held her in his right hand tightly.
"What is wrong with you! Two years of perfect success and now you're getting beaten by a fat man with speech troubles!" Bastian yelled and electrocuted Crystal Spear.
'please forgive me Bastian, I don't know why but he keeps winning,' Crystal Spear quietly explained.
"Your imprudence has left me in trouble once again!" Bastian yelled.
'sorry Bastian.'
"Not yet you are, once I finish with you you'll be so afraid of defeat that you'll never lose to Mario again!" Bastian yelled and left his mountain to torture Crystal Spear with much worse things then electrocution. . .
