Super Luigi Sunshine! Part 14: Sewer Chasing!
Shine 10/11: Yell out for Toad.
A/N: A little thing that even the internet doesn't say (except one site) is that in Super Mario Sunshine once you get ten Shine Sprites and unlock the cutscene if you do NOT watch the cut scene the Yellow Toad is gone, yep, gone! No where to be found without AR or glitching into a certain room. That is what has inspired me to do this chapter and I originally found this out myself.
^Day 4 around six O'clock - Delfino Plaza^
Mario was about to head inside the house near the lighthouse to call it a day when Toadsworth's group of Toads rushed over.
"Hey Mario!" Green Toad yelled and Mario realised that only Green Toad, Blue Toad, Purple Toad and Red Toad were with him, Yellow Toad was gone.
"What is it?" Mario asked and moved Purple Toad aside to see if Yellow Toad was behind him.
"Yellow Toad (yes that's their names) is lost! He hasn't been seen for hours and he said he was going off to help you at Bianco Hills because he felt like a jerk for some reason!" Red Toad says.
"What are we going to do Mario?" Blue Toad asked.
"I'll rescue er um, find him!" Mario states and quickly ran off, he heard the Toads mumbling about him being their 'hero'.
Mario stood at the statue and was about to enter the goop when he heard a noise, it was a scream. Mario spun around and saw his clone holding Peach not too far away. The clone stuck out a long tongue at Mario and ran off, Mario was about to give chase when all of a sudden someone lunged at him and knocked him into the portal, they were lucky enough to not enter it with Mario. Shadow Mario then ran to Wes while holding Peach.
"Good work," The faker says sounding exactly like Mario. "Now come on, before he gets back!"
"HOLD IT RIGHT THERE!" Yelled someone threateningly and Toadsworth ran over holding a shotgun. "Release the Princess or I'll shoot!" He warned aiming at the fake Mario.
"Quick! To the sewers where he can't get us!" Wes yelled and back flipped away from the statue and landed onto a manhole, the manhole cover flipped and Wes fell through.
"Don't even-" Toadsworth began but was shoved aside, Mario ran forward and jumped down into the sewers with Peach.
"Toadsworth!" The four remaining Toads scream and run to him, he was on his back with a pained expression.
"I think that foul doppelganger broke my back, what a rude thing he is! Quickly now, hurry off after the Princess! Green Toad, you're the brightest so take my pistol!" Toadsworth yells and Green Toad took his 'pistol' (shotgun) and the four Toads ran off and jumped down the manhole, the poor cover still flipping. After they were gone Toadsworth stood up and began running around in circles panicked about the princess. . .
^Bianco Hills^
Mario landed face first onto the white path at Bianco Hills, he stood up slowly and looked around him. Mr. Shades wasn't there. Mario ran down the path and jumped across the log and entered the village, the 'club' making Pianta stopped him.
"Hey there buddy! One of your travelling buddies passed by me moments earlier, he was carrying a Shine Sprite but the poor lad looked like he hadn't the faintest idea on what to do with it! I think he went somewhere near the tree filled area!" The Pianta says pointing.
"How convenient, I need a way to leave," Mario mumbles and ran off to save the Toad. Once he got into the tree filled area a Pianta waved him over. "Yes?"
"Hey Mario, some Yellow Toad was holding a Shine Sprite so I directed him towards the Windmill where I last saw you battling a huge. . . uh um. . . thing, last I saw of the Toad it was climbing up the top," The Pianta tells him.
"Alright, thanks!" Mario shouts and ran towards the broken bridge.
^Delfino Sewers^
(in case you care Wes is human) Wes was far ahead of Shadow Mario and this was quite bad. Wes knew his way around the sewers and even knew how to enter almost any location by them but Shadow Mario hadn't even thought about their existence until now. Shadow Mario was walking while carrying Peach, he had no idea that the Toads were chasing him.
"Why do you look like Mario?" Peach asked.
"I have my reasons to save you from Mario, all will be explained once we reach our secret base," Shadow Mario explains sounding exactly like Mario.
"Our base?" Peach questioned but Shadow Mario spoke no more, instead he began running because he heard splashes from behind him and feared it to be the real Mario. "Who was your friend? From before," Peach asked as she carelessly waited to be saved, she didn't mind the fact she was being carried because it just saved her from getting wet.
"I'm surprised they have such clean sewers despite my graffiti," Shadow Mario says trying to change the subject and realised what he admitted. "Well, the real me's graffiti that is!"
"I know it's you, but why?" Peach asked and got no response. Shadow Mario turned a corner and saw four Toads glaring at him, one even held a shotgun.
"PEACH!" The Blue, Purple and Red Toads scream while the Green one just fired the shotgun, it missed completely and blasted the Toad onto its back. Shadow Mario turned around and ran off with Peach.
Wes climbed a metal ladder up to the secret Corona base and opened a manhole that led to one of the rooms, he climbed out and looked around. It was the only manhole that led into the base so unless Bowser Jr. wasted his time running all the way to Pinna Park he would have to pass by eventually, so Wes decided to call it quits and headed off to his room in the base.
^Bianco Hills^
Meanwhile Mario had just met with another Pianta up at the windmill's top.
"Hey Mario! I just-"
"DON'T BOTHER! Let me guess, you just saw a Yellow Toad carrying a Shine Sprite walking off into another tedious to get to location! Right?" Mario yelled and the Pianta crosses his head. "Oh, what then?" Mario asked nicely.
"I just saw a Yellow Toad earlier before and he asked me where's Mario so I told him to jump in a lake, he did and then swam into the small failure of a waterfall behind this mountain," The Pianta says.
"Why did you tell him to jump in a lake?" Mario asked angrily.
"Well last I saw of you was you jumping down into the lake below, I watched the whole fight from the window above our heads." Mario looked up and saw a window.
"Any idea where he went?" Mario asked.
"Just told you didn't I? Into the failure of a waterfall behind this hill."
"How'd you see that if it's behind the hill?"
"Because I jumped after him but couldn't jump up into the cave that he went in."
"SO IT'S A CAVE NOW!" Mario yelled pointing at the Pianta.
"Um. . . yes?"
"I knew it was going to be some tedious place! I just knew it!" Mario yelled laughing, he jumped off the hill carelessly while still laughing.
^Delfino Sewers^
Shadow Mario reached a four-way intersection and ran around a corner and pulled out his brush. He spun around and painted a red M onto the wall, he then backtracked and went a different direction.
"That'll fool 'em!" Shadow Mario mumbled.
"Not if they follow the dripping red pain coming from your brush," Peach says and Shadow Mario looked at the non-dripping brush.
"What dripping paint?" Shadow Mario asked, he stopping running to look at the crystal clear water behind him. (sure is clean for a sewer)
"HEY TOADS! HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLPP PPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!" Peach screamed loudly. Shadow Mario quickly started to run again and almost tripped on a Blue Toad as he rushed around a corner. He heard a bang and some bullets punctured Peach's dress but didn't hit her.
"Careful Green Toad!" A Toad yelled, Shadow Mario was too busy running to see or care which colour it was. He pressed the brush against the walls and drew a red line as he ran, Blobs jumped out of the line and started to merge with each other, they formed a large blob the blocked the route behind Shadow Mario. Said Blob died from multiple shells of shotgun fire.
^Bianco Hills^
Mario swam over to a small cave that had water flowing from it, in no way would he call it a 'waterfall' but he guessed it was the right place. Mario jumped out of the water and used FLUDD's hover nozzle to get up. Mario ran into the dark cave and expected something to attack him and probably steal FLUDD, he kept running confused at why he would expect something so ridiculous to happen.
"YELLOW TOAD!" Mario yelled while running, things got even darker so he made a fireball in one hand and used it as a torch.
"I am picking up multiple heat signals heading your way," Emile states and Mario squinted, he saw something in the distance but couldn't make out what it was.
"Is that {pauses} me and Princess Peach? It is!" Mario yelled and ran forward, the two Marios then collided with each other and fell backwards onto their backs. Peach stood up and brushed her dress down.
"Thank you Mario," She says and Mario stood up, he then saw the Yellow Toad off in the distance holding something bright.
"One moment!" Mario shouts and pushed Peach aside to run to the Toad, Peach fell over and landed into the clean looking water. Shadow Mario then picked her up and kept running. He ran further and further and jumped out of the cave and looked up at the large hill ahead, this was the last thing he saw before plummeting into the water. The water luckily didn't hit his transformer but did momentarily blind him, he swam up and broke through the surface and took some huge gasps of air, obviously not able to hold as long as Mario could have.
Off with Mario he reached the Yellow Toad and stopped puffing in front of him.
"I found you! Now can I have that {puffs} Shine Sprite?" Mario asked holding out his hand, the Toad whacked it away.
"NO! The real Mario wouldn't be tired by following me! And besides, the real Mario's cap is brighter so you and your cheap imitational hat can leave!" Yellow Toad says sternly.
"Give me that Shine Yellow Toad, it's me Mario," Mario states.
"Hey Mario! You found Yellow Toad!" Green Toad says running towards Mario with a shotgun, the shotgun was bobbing up and down dangerously. Purple, Red and Blue Toad were following it.
"Mr. Mario! A fake you has taken Peach away!" Blue Toad yells.
"Alright! I'll take this Shine and ambush him once he gets back to Delfino Plaza!" Mario says and the Yellow Toad handed him the Shine Sprite.
After Shadow Mario recollected Peach he began his long trip back to Corona mountain the safest way he knew. He reached the spot Mr. Shades usually is at and jumped off the cliff, he rolled down and veered away from Ricco Harbour and ended up on a flat-ish spot. He stood up and ran across the base of Corona Mountain and accidentally slipped going up a steep part, both Peach and Shadow Mario fell down the hill and ended up in Delfino Plaza near the Shine Tower somehow. Mario then climbed out of the nearby water.
"YOU!" Mario yelled and threw a fireball at Shadow Mario, the faker quickly dropped Peach and started to retreat. Mario chased him and the clone reached the Boathouse and quickly drew a portal into it and jumped through, Mario followed. . . [Cliff-hanger of sorts]
