Enjolras' POV

Today was prom. The least I could say is that I was sure I wouldn't enjoy it. Turns out I was wrong. First we found out about prom last week, when 'Ferre announced it at the school assembly. Then this morning, 'Ferre woke me up extra early because he was excited for prom. "Wake up, Enjolras!" 'Ferre said, shaking me wildly. I rubbed the sleep from my eyes and sat up in my bed. "What the hell is going on?" I asked, a little grumpy. 'Ferre frowned. "You don't know what day it is today? It's prom! Now wake up both physically and spiritually and let's eat breakfast." He said, running to the kitchen and after he went into the kitchen, I heard some pots and pans clanking and then I heard a glass smashing onto the floor. I face-palmed myself and went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and comb my hair and everything. When I came out of the bathroom, I saw 'Ferre running in place in the living room with a cup of coffee in his hand and the TV was on. Some coffee was splashed onto the floor already. He would slip and spill the coffee all over himself anytime soon. "Seriously, 'Ferre. Stop running. What is this all about?" I asked. He stopped and put the coffee down on the table. He took a deep breathe and exhaled. "Okay, so here's the thing. I just asked someone out yesterday and she said yes." He said as calmly as possible. I stopped breathing. "You WHAT? Are you even telling the truth?" I screamed.

"It's the real deal! Don't scream either because nobody knows about this." 'Ferre said. I nodded and said, "Okay, okay. I'm going to stop..." I paused. "Oh my gosh, 'Ferre! Why didn't you tell me?! This is great! You'll finally have a date and stuff and then oh my gosh. You fucking asked a girl out?! Oh my gosh! You can't be telling the truth, can you?! CAN YOU?! This is crazy! What's her name? How does she look like? What-"

"PIPE THE FUCK DOWN, ENJ!" He shouted. I stopped rambling and apologized. "Just chill. I'll tell you everything. Got it?" He asked. I nodded. He motioned me to sit on the couch and we sat down. "So her name is Marie. I started having a crush on her since the start of this year and-"

"Hold on. You had a crush since the start of this year and you decided to keep it until the very end of it?!" I interrupted.

"Yesterday, I crashed into her and she accidentally kissed me when we fell and then-"

"YOU KISSED HER?! I never knew you were like this!" I exploded. 'Ferre looked annoyed but seriously, if he was going to give me information, I would need details anyway and I would have to bug him to get them. "Yes, we kissed. And then after we got up, I asked her to prom as our first date and I confessed. She said-"

"What did she say? Did she accept? Did she deny?" I screamed again. 'Ferre groaned in annoyance. "Will you stop interrupting please?! Thank you. May I continue?" He said and I nodded. "OK. So she said yes and-" He stopped when he saw that I was about to interrupt again. I was about to ask what venue they were going to but I shut myself up. "And I asked her if she could go to prom with me tonight. She agreed and I guess...that makes us...a couple now." He said. Just then, someone knocked on the door. "Coming!" I shouted as I ran to open the door. An unknown girl was standing in front of me with a bunch of movies in her arms. She had dark flowing hair and blue eyes. "Are you Combeferre's...um...roommate?" She asked. I nodded. "Are you Marie?" I asked her. She nodded and smiled, showing her pearly white teeth. "Come in and make yourself at home." I said, opening the door wider so she could go into our room. She thanked me under her breathe and walked in shyly. Her face lit up immediately when she caught sight of 'Ferre. They hugged each other and started chatting away. I decided to leave them alone for a while and walked out of the room. Then I bumped into someone in the hallway as I was walking towards Courf's room. I got up to my feet and tried to see who I bumped into so I could apologize but I couldn't because a huge box was covering her (at least I thought it was a girl because she had long brown hair) face and I couldn't see any features that would have reminded me of anyone I knew. "Sorry. I didn't see you there." I said, grabbing her hand and helping her up to her feet. She removed the box from her face and smiled. "Oh, hi, Eponine." I said.

"I never knew you were so clumsy." She said, putting the box on the ground. Her arms were red from carrying the heavy box and she started rubbing them. "What's inside the box anyway?" I asked. Her eyes trailed from her arms to the huge box and said, "Oh, I'm helping the student council decorate the gym...you know, for prom."

"Oh, okay. By the way, I was wondering...Will you go to prom with me? As friends, though." I asked, trying to sound calm when my insides were whirlpools of anxiety. I've never felt that way before in my life and I never thought I would feel that way. I gulped, waiting for her answer. She blushed furiously and sighed. "Yes. I'll go with you." She said and smiled. I smiled back, not knowing how else to respond. "Well, catch you later. Gotta bring these decorations to the gym." She said, walking away slowly. "See you at the gym?" I asked. She nodded over her shoulder and disappeared. I sighed. I finally have a date to prom. YES! "Awww. That was super sweet. Love is in the air." Jehan suddenly piped up behind me in a sing-songy way. I scoffed. "We're just friends, Jehan. There's really nothing more." I said, leaning against the wall between the doors of my room and Eponine's room. Jehan looked unconvinced. "Why do you keep denying when it's completely true? I know how Eponine feels about you, actually. She likes you and she said that she can't wait to actually date you but she thinks you don't feel the same way she feels about you." Jehan said. My lips twitched. So she actually likes me and she can't even wait to date me?! God, why is life so hard?! "Sometimes, Jehan, I wonder why I can never tell her, 'I really like you and I was blind the whole time. Would you go on a date with me at a very fancy restaurant and dance our hearts out there? I love you to the moon and back. I'm sure we'll have kids together, too, when we grow up.'" Jehan made a disgusted face. "Hey, hey, hey. Whoa, there, guys. What was that? Is this a bro talk or is this bromance that I see?" Bahorel suddenly spoke up from nowhere. "Have you been eavesdropping? Get out of here. We need our bro talk time." Jehan said and Bahorel went back into his room. "Okay, so where were we? Oh, right. Your can-I-go-on-a-date-with-you line really sucked, I tell you."

"So how do you expect me to come up with something better? I never had a girlfriend before and the so-called girlfriend I had asked me out. I didn't ask her out. She asked me." I said. I suddenly felt like I wanted to impale myself on something. I was totally hopeless with everything in my life and out of all things, I was trying to ask a girl out. FUCKING TRYING TO ASK A GIRL OUT! This is way harder than I thought. "Are you still there?" Jehan asked, waving a hand in front of my face. "Sorry...um...Would you help me write a poem telling her to go out with me?" I asked. He smiled. "Anything for my friend!" He said.

"But I already kinda asked her to go to prom with me." I added. His smile grew wider. "Then you're on your own because you've come this far already. This proves that you are capable of doing this. Let's face it, you asked her out to prom. Asking her out on a date is the same thing."

"But it's not!"

"How is it different, then?" He asked and put his hands on his hips. "Well, uh, I honestly don't know."

"Then there's no difference. There's a difference in things only when you know what exactly it is. Since you don't have the 'what', nothing between asking her out on a date and asking her to prom is considered different." He said. I nodded. "Okay, I'll consider that. Thanks." I said, giving him a quick hug and ran back into my room. The sight before me made my jaw drop completely. 'Ferre was making out with Marie on the sofa. They were moving around dangerously on the couch and they seemed like they wanted more of each other. I shrugged the thought away as I quickly entered my bedroom, grabbed my wallet and my phone and ran out of the room. I had a new suit to buy before eight o'clock tonight.

Eponine's POV

It was three hours until prom night and we already finished decorating about an hour or two ago. I was sitting on the couch, watching TV and drinking apple juice when 'Sette and 'Chetta came bursting through the door of my and 'Sette's room. "What's going on?" I asked them. They were panting, like, crazy and they were carrying a couple of bags. More specifically, shopping bags. "Don't tell me those are clothes." I said, getting up from the couch. I peeked in one bag, then the other, then the other, and then the last one. All that was inside were clothes. "They're for prom. We bought these last-minute but they look pretty good." 'Chetta said, taking off her shoes and carried the shopping bags into the room. She put all four of them on the couch, took each dress out and laid them on the couch. One dress was a strapless one with a black top and a long and puffy pink skirt and glitter was spread across the waist. The other one was a simple purple low-cut V neck open back dress. Another one was a strapless dress with a black glittery top and a long green skirt with a black bow tied to the waist. But there was one that really caught my eye: The last one. It was a strapless dress with a glittery capri blue-colored top, a long and flow-y sky blue skirt and a dark blue waistband. I ran my hand over the soft and silky cloth and smiled. "I'm taking this one." I said, not taking my eyes nor my hands off the blue dress. "Oh, then it's all yours." 'Sette said, smiling widely. "I'm really glad you like it. I picked it, by the way." She whispered the last part as a smug grin spread on her face. I laughed and carefully took the dress in my arms. "Thank you. It's really pretty." Then a thought hit me like a bullet. "How do I pay-"

"Stop right there, Eponine Thenardier. I'm not going to hear any of your ramblings about paying me back. It's my duty to share and buy you stuff." 'Sette said but I opened my mouth to protest. "No buts!" She said and I close my mouth, knowing that she would win anyway. "Fine, Cosette wins." I said as 'Sette giggled. "I'm so choosing this one." 'Sette said, picking the pink dress up. "I'm pretty sure I'll look like Glinda from the Wizard of Oz." I and 'Chetta laughed as I pictured 'Sette being the Good Witch of the North floating in in a big bubble. "But you won't. It would look pretty on you and since you're obviously a fan of pink, this would totally fit you." 'Chetta said, eying the purple dress adoringly. "You should take it." 'Sette told her.

"Huh? What?" 'Chetta asked, whipping her head from side to side, not knowing what was going on because she was too distracted by the dress. I choked out a laugh. "'Sette said that you should take the purple dress." I said as 'Sette nodded. 'Chetta smiled a wobbly smile and held the dress up with the very top of her fingertips, as if she didn't want to ruin it. "You won't damage it by just touching it, would you?" I said as 'Chetta nodded then shook her head. She was way too carried away by that dress that she was hardly listening anymore. "We should hurry up and get dressed, though. Or we'll be late." I said and all three of us rushed into different rooms to change. 'Sette ran to the bathroom, 'Chetta stayed in the living room and I went to the bedroom. After a few minutes, we finished changing. As I came out of the bedroom, my jaw dropped. I first saw 'Sette in her pink dress and honestly, she looked far more prettier than Glinda. 'Chetta seemed really happy with her choice and she was stunning, too. I didn't get a chance to look at myself in the mirror and I didn't plan on doing that either. "YOU...LOOK...GORGEOUS!" 'Chetta squealed. I looked down at my dress. I guess it doesn't look too bad on me...or maybe it does. "You guys look breathtaking, then." I said, smiling. I was being honest, actually. "We are definitely forgetting something. Oh, I know what we're forgetting, jewelry!" 'Sette said as she ran into the bedroom. She came back out with a bunch of boxes, all shapes and sizes. One of the bigger boxes that I recognized was the make-up box. 'Sette put down all of the boxes on the table and started picking out jewelry for herself. 'Chetta was also looking for her own stuff. I stood behind one of the chairs, not knowing how to pick out the perfect earrings and bracelets. "Here." 'Sette said as she pressed a pair of silver earrings shaped like water droplets and a silver bracelet in my palms. Then she told me to follow her to the shoe box. She picked out a pair of glittery silver stilettos and handed them to me. "Thank you so so much!" I said, giving her a hug. She laughed as we pulled away. "That's what best friends do." She said and winked. Today was the day I wanted to thank Maman for getting my ears pierced. If it weren't for her, I wouldn't have been able to put the gorgeous earrings on at all and I would have regretted that. I put on the earrings, slipped on the bracelet and the heels and made my way uncomfortably to the couch. I sank myself down on it and sighed. It's going to be a long night tonight. "How do I look?" 'Chetta asked, twirling around. She was wearing the purple dress, a silver bracelet, a pair of silver earrings and her shoulder-length red hair was curled into ringlets. She had put on silver eyeshadow and she had red lips. She looked like a movie star. Then it was 'Sette's turn to show off. She was wearing the pink dress, a black bracelet, black earrings and her blonde hair was put up into a bun. She had light pink eyeshadow and red lips. "Well, now there's only you we have to work on. Let's get to it." 'Chetta said to me as she and 'Sette pulled me to the table and let me sit down on one of the chairs. 'Sette started working on my make-up as 'Chetta worked on my hair. A few minutes later, they finished. 'Sette handed me a mirror and I almost didn't recognize myself. I was completely speechless. 'Sette had put on some black eyeshadow on my eyelids and some red lipstick and 'Chetta had put my hair up into a loose bun. I stood up and hugged both of them all in one hug. "I love you guys so much!" I said, almost squishing them. They hugged me back as tightly as I hugged them and we pulled away, literally gasping for air. Then I waited for 'Sette to put on her black pumps and 'Chetta to put on her silver ones. We soon headed off to the gym and waited for the guys to come. First came Jehan and another girl I didn't know. He introduced her as his date, Veronica. Then Courf came with 'Zelma. He wasn't supposed to come with a junior but he did anyway. Then Bahorel came with Bossuet as friends, of course, and Grantaire came in with Feuilly. Then the surprise came. 'Ferre came in with a girl called Marie. I never knew someone like 'Ferre would have a crush at all. Then Enjolras, Marius and Joly came in. All of the Les Amis guys were well groomed. With the tuxedos and ties and everything, they looked professional, which was not like them at all. 'Sette grabbed Marius' arm as soon as he came into the gym and they walked away without saying another word to any of us. 'Chetta and Joly were already gone by the time I turned around to see where they were. So I decided to just grab Enjolras and go somewhere else. "So what do you think? First prom. Isn't it nice?" I asked him as he looked around in wonderment. Gosh, he looks so cute when he does that! The prom was winter-themed. Snowflakes were everywhere and we also set the air con so it could be extra cold. We set up some ice statues and a fountain in the middle of the dance floor. The beverage table was in the corner and it was long enough to fit about 20 different kinds of food. "I think it's really neat. How did you guys manage to do all this in, like, eight hours?" Enjolras asked. I scoffed. "It took us more than a week to make those." I said, gesturing towards the ice statues. He mouthed a 'wow' as Madame Fantine tapped the microphone. "Good evening, students. This is your first prom. Not that there's going to be a second or third but it's still your first. Anyway, I'm really happy to have had all of you as students here at VHHS and I can't believe you guys are graduating already! Time really flies. All of you will be going to college and then you'll all have work then maybe kids... Well, have fun everyone and see you again tomorrow." She said and everyone burst into a huge wave of applause. Then some really upbeat music started and everyone began to dance. Enjolras just stood still. "Oh, come on! Do I need to go through this again?" I said and started dancing in goofy moves. He was holding back his laughter so hard that his face began to go red. "Aren't you going to dance?" I asked him. That said, he just lost it. He almost started rolling on the floor, laughing his ass off. "I will unless you stop dancing like that." He said and pointed at me, still laughing. I stopped dancing and put a hand on my hip. "Are you just going to stand there and do nothing?" He asked between laughs. "Oh, sure, unless you stop laughing your ass off like that." I said. He tried to stop laughing and finally calmed himself down. "Hey, Pony. Wanna dance?" Grantaire suddenly slurred from behind me. After he finished asking his question, he turned around to some girl and sucked her face, causing the girl to splash some punch on the floor. "Ewww. Gross!" I said. I squeezed through the crowd, pulling Enjolras behind me. I was trying to get out of all the mess Grantaire made over where we were standing before so I got to the beverage table. I saw bottles and bottles of wine littering the top of the table. "Oh my God. There's wine here?!" Enjolras screamed. I nodded. "Apparently. Well, what are we waiting for? Let's do it!" I said, reaching for a bottle but he grabbed my arm. "Whoa, there, young lady. Do what?"

"Drink that." I said, gesturing towards the wine bottles and tried to reach for a bottle again. This time, I succeeded. I grabbed the bottle and opened it. I put the bottle to my lips and pretended to drink from it. Enjolras was watching me with horror in his eyes. I laughed. "You think I actually drank from it? You're totally wrong. I just wanted to scare you, that's all." I said, putting the bottle back down. He was laughing sarcastically and rolled his eyes. Then I spotted the prom photo booth. I dragged him toward it and we took some pictures. Both silly and formal. After an hour had passed, I was starting to get tired. Just as I wanted to walk back to the dorms, a slow song started and I couldn't just leave. Enjolras pulled me to the dance floor. "Okay, I never knew you were so enthusiastic about this stuff." I said, putting both hands on each of his shoulders. He put both of his hands on my waist and smirked. We danced for a while in comfortable silence. Suddenly, Enjolras spoke up. "I can't believe I'm saying this but...Gosh, I can't do this. Not here. Okay, I'm sorry but...God! Why is it so hard to do this?!" He mumbled. Can he seriously be any cuter? He took a deep breathe and kissed me. I didn't know how to respond. I just stood there, wanting to literally melt. I snaked my arm around his neck as his grip on my waist tightened a little. "Awww... That's so sweet." 'Sette said, prancing on me and hugged me from behind. We pulled away as quickly as the kiss happened. "Oh, shit." Enjolras mumbled and grabbed me by the arm. He started running out of the gym and my instincts told me to follow him so I ran. We finally got to the parking lot. We were both sweating and panting heavily. "Okay, would you care to explain what that was for?" I asked him, still panting. "Well, I was embarrassed. You should be, too, after that." He replied. I started pacing around. "I have an idea." He said, pulling me towards his car. We both got in and I looked down at my dress first thing when we got in. "Um..." I said, gesturing toward my dress to him. "It doesn't matter." He said and drove off. Then we stopped in the middle of nowhere and it was about midnight. It was a full moon and stars scattered the dark sky. I stepped out of the car and stood still, not knowing what exactly was happening. I looked around for Enjolras and he was nowhere to be seen. "Enjolras? Where-Oh." I spotted him on the roof of the car. He motioned me to join him but I shook my head. "Uh...No. Thank you but no thank you. I don't like heights." I said. He extended an arm out to me and I felt like I had no choice but to take it. I climbed up to the roof of the car and felt cold. He must have seen me shiver because he took off his jacket and put it on me. I smiled at him and continued watching the stars. Then I saw a shooting star. "A shooting star! Look!" I said, shaking him slightly. He crossed his fingers and closed his eyes. He was probably making a wish. I did the same. I wish he'd ask me out or ask me to be his girlfriend or something. Then I felt his lips on mine. I didn't open my eyes. I put my hands behind his head to deepen the kiss a little more. He snaked his arms around my waist and his hands went up my back. His hands got to the zipper of my dress. I stiffened up a little but I didn't stop him. He slowly zipped my dress down but left it half way for some reason. I pressed my body deeper into his and, without breaking any contact, I slipped off his jacket. He continued zipping down my dress until I could take it off but I didn't. He put his hands on my face and pulled me even closer. I finally had to pull away because I was almost out of breathe. I zipped my dress back up and panted heavily. He was panting, too. There was a moment of awkward silence before he spoke up. "Uh...Will you go on a date with me?" He asked nervously. I smiled. "Of course. I've been waiting for that for years!" I said, hugging him. We pulled away after a couple of seconds and I asked, "So does this mean I'm your girlfriend now?" He smirked and gave me a quick kiss. "If you aren't, we wouldn't be here at all." He said with a huge grin plastered on his face.
