Through the stone tunnel they pass another oddly-placed typewriter in an alcove. A while later, Chris noticed a flame-thrower hanging on the wall. "Now this is one helluva gun." he said as he picked it up. "It's got a nice feel to it, but I'll bet it burns through fuel like a Humvee. Gonna have to be careful with it" Right as he finished speaking, a rumbling sounded from down the tunnel, and a boulder came hurtling towards them at dangerous speed. Moving quickly, the team was safe from the boulder as it smashed into the wall several feet from their hiding place, dislodging massive chunks of rock from the walls, ceiling and boulder alike. Further down the passageway, they came across a man with "Lt. Enrico Marini" printed on his S.T.A.R.S. vest. He was bleeding badly, his back pressed to the stone wall covered in moss and smeared with his blood. He was groaning in pain, and barely able to hold up his arm to cover the door with his pistol. Sonic, the first one to go down the passageway, shouted to the members of the Special Tactics And Rescue Service. "Hey guys, there's a guy down here!" Enrico stirred, his vision obscured by blood and by him being too weak to open his eyes. "Chris?" He asked, attempting to move one of his legs and failing. "Chris? Is that you buddy?" Wesker holstered his gun as he entered the room. "Rico!" His eyes were noticeably wide behind his shades in some combination of relief, horror, and shock. "Rico, what happened?" Enrico tried to stand again, but his legs collapsed under him, causing him to stumble forwards awkwardly, a moan of pain escaping his mouth as Wesker caught him and eased Enrico to the ground. "Take it easy man." Enrico started hacking, his chest heaving, and finally coughed up a disgusting mixture of phlegm and blood. "Captain. Good, I knew you'd be here" Wesker started a rudimentary medical examination, from checking pupil dialation to looking at the tongue and feeling for broken bones. "Easy buddy, you're in pretty bad shape." He turned his head to the door. "Jill! Rebecca! Enrico needs medical attention!" Enrico winced at the noise, but continued speaking. "You've seen the zombies, right? I got bitten a few times... Wasn't able to patch myself up after the first few times. Those damn dogs split Bravo up almost the moment we crashed. There was this Jeep out a ways from the chopper, on its side. Had the transfer papers of the guy we were looking for in it, along with the bodies of the guards he killed. Coen was as much of a monster as the zombies. But even he couldn't get away from them." Rebecca, who had entered the room along with Chris, Jill, and the others looked down nervously. "I don't know what's happening to me, but I'm too weak to move my eyes. But you gotta know something, there's a traitor in the RCPD, someone who's been informing on us and sabotaging our ops. I was able to find proof that someone was being paid off by Umbrella, but I passed out, or was knocked out, or something... I woke up here, and the file was gone." Wesker gulped and opened his mouth to speak. "We know, we've got pictures proving that's it's the Police Commissioner." Sonic flipped a ring in his band and passed it to Enrico; "Here you go, this should fix you up dude" Golden-green light enveloped Enrico's body, healing his wounds and soothing his coughs. "Thanks Chris, whatever that was helped." He paused for a moment. "Um, Chris? I still can't open my eyes. The pain is gone, but I can't feel my whole body." His skin began turning red, and his fingernails grew, curling into menacing claws. Wesker stood up and waved his men back. "Stand back guys, this doesn't look good." Enrico groaned as he stood to his feet, his arms and head hanging limply. "What's happening? I feel so hungry." As the last remnants of his humanity slipped away, he opened his eyes. His blood red eyes. And with a rattling, bone chilling growl, he charged at the members of S.T.A.R.S. Moving as fast as lightening, Wesker drew his Samurai Edge and fired a single shot into the crimson head of the monster that used to be Lt. Enrico Marini, commander of the S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team. A light glow appeared at the edge of Wesker's sunglasses, and then vanished as fast as it appeared. He turned around and holstered his gun as he walked away. "I don't care how long it takes, we're finding out what's really going on here"

Sonic fell in step behind him and the rest of S.T.A.R.S. "Something's wrong here" Jill scoffed. "And when'd you figured that out?" She asked him, sarcasm dripping from her voice. "Well, about the time that a Chaos Ring, which should have completely healed him turned him into a zombie." Rebecca pulled out a test-tube and started filling it with blood from the decapitated corpse. "I'll take some samples and we can analyze them..." Wesker began thinking aloud, cutting her off. "He said he was bitten by one of them. That means it transmits through bites. Or through fluids. Rebecca, stop. Be careful, and dump it out back on the body. We should burn it so whatever this is doesn't spread." He pushed back past the members of S.T.A.R.S. into the room and removed Enrico's gun, radio, flashlight, and remaining stock of ammunition. "Chris, you've got the flame-thrower." He ripped Enrico's name from the S.T.A.R.S. vest and tossed his gun to Chris. "Burn him. We don't want this spreading if we can help it." Chris nodded, and then hesitated. "What's wrong?" Jill asked. Chris grimaced. "Enrico was my friend... They were all my friends, Joseph, Kevin, Forrest, Mark... And I... Can't stand seeing them all die like this..." he leveled the flame-thrower at Enrico's body and pulled the trigger, burning, and burning, and burning.
