A week went by, and Jane and Maura had spent as much time together as they could with Maura's work schedule being so hectic.

Tonight, was Maura's first night off in a week so Jane decided to cook her ma's lasagna. She left the door unlocked for the blonde and told her to just come up.

"Honey! I'm home!" Maura calls from the front door with a laugh.

Wiping off her hands Jane quickly made her way over to her now girlfriend. Yes, her girlfriend. It had been made official when Maura let it slip to a nosey coworker a few nights ago.

Jane smiled as she wrapped her arms around Maura from behind, making the other woman giggle. She placed a soft kiss on her cheek. "I'm glad you're here."

Maura hummed in response as she turned and loosely wrapped her arms around Jane's neck. "I'm glad I'm here too." She said with a smile before standing on her tiptoes to kiss Jane.

"Something smells amazing." She remarked against Jane's lips.

Jane grinned, "Wait until you taste it."

"Mmm," was all Maura managed to get out before Jane captured her lips again.

Taking in a deep breath through her nose she slightly pushed Jane away. Sure they were together but they both agreed to take the next few steps slowly. But with every kiss Maura felt her resolve slipping. Putting some distance between them she walked into the kitchen.

"Oh, you opened a bottle of wine too?" Maura asked, surprised. She knew Jane didn't really care for it.

"Yup." Jane said with a smile as she once again checked on the dish in the oven before turning back to Maura. "Here, you sit and let me cater to you. It's your night off." She said stealing one more kiss before doing so.

Maura's heart melted. She had never been with anyone who was this attentive to her needs and wants before. This was new for her, a little scary but worth it nonetheless.

Jane came back around the counter with a glass of red wine and a beer for herself.

"Thank you. I think I'm the luckiest woman in the world." Maura said with a smile as Jane sat down next to her.

Jane shook her head. "I'm going to have to disagree with you there doc. I'm the luckiest, hands down."

Maura smiled affectionately and gently stroked Jane's cheek. She leaned in, leaving a short kiss on her lips before leaning away.

"We will have to agree to disagree."

Jane chuckled slightly as she leaned in for another kiss only to be interrupted by her cell vibrating on the counter. She quickly moved to answer it leaving Maura to almost fall from her chair as she too was leaning in for that kiss.

"Jane!" She remarked as she caught herself.

"Shit! Sorry babe." Jane said as she set her phone back down and made her way over to Maura. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, expecting an important call?" She asked with a grin to further prove that she was in fact okay and not mad.

Jane turned right back around when the oven dinged. "I'm waiting on a call from Izzy." She said as she pulled the pan out.

"Oh?" Maura remarked she wasn't the jealous type but that had changed when she met Jane.

Jane caught the slight jealous tone. Anyone else would have missed it but her brain was trained to pick up on subtle changes in people's words and actions. Grinning, she placed the pan down and looked at Maura. "Do I detect a bit of jealousy there Maur?"

"No." She replied, taking a sip from her glass. She could already feel her skin getting hotter by the second as Jane eyed her.

"Okay, yes. I might be a little jealous. I don't want to be one of those girlfriends. I know we've talked about it. I know she's your ex and that you two are only friends now. But she's been calling you excessively for days." Maura hid her face as she became embarrassed of her own admission.

Jane chuckled as she walked over to Maura. She spun the stool the blonde was sitting on around to face her. She gave her a soft but reassuring kiss before looking her in the eyes. "You're not one of those girlfriends, one. And two I think it's cute that you got a little jealous." Jane remarked with a smile. "But you don't have anything to worry about. Alright?"

Maura nodded but felt the need to apologize anyway. "I'm sorry."

"You don't have to apologize for your feelings Maur. If you really want to know why I'm waiting for her call I'll tell you."

Maura smiled at the sentiment. "No Jane, you don't have to do that. I'm okay, really."

"Alright, you forced me into it I'll tell you." Jane remarked with a smile as she moved around the counter. She pulled two plates and set them down, doing the same for the utensils.

"Do you remember me telling you about my little brother Tommy and how he got himself into some trouble before I left?" She asked as she cut into the four layered lasagna.

"I do. Have you heard anything else from him since?"

Jane turned and grabbed a plate. "Actually no, that's why I'm waiting on Izzy's call. He went to see the judge today. Since she's an ADA she will get wind of what happened at court before anyone else. " She said as she slid a generous amount of food onto the plate.

Maura felt a little silly now that she thought about it. Jane and Izzy had a past and they did and would continue to work closely together. She would just have to deal with it. After all Jane didn't strike her as the unfaithful type.

"I'm sorry Jane, I didn't mean…."

"Babe." Jane said, setting the plate down in front of the blonde. She didn't know where the pet name came from, but she liked how it sounded and so did Maura judging by the smile that appeared. "You gotta stop apologizing. It's not a big deal. You didn't offend me or anything like that. I think it's cute that you got a little jealous." She remarked with a wink.

Maura chuckled before leaning in for a quick kiss. "Dinner looks delicious…babe."

Jane smiled herself before making her own plate and grabbing the salad she made to go along with dinner.

"Here." She said handing off the salad as she grabbed two clean wine glasses and the already opened bottle. Maura watched confused.

"Follow me."

"Where are we going?"

Jane opened the door to the stairs that lead up to the roof. "After you."

Maura smiled hesitantly. "Are we allowed to go there?"

"I know a few people. Trust me Maur, this is the best view in the whole city."

"Clearly you haven't been to the top of the Eiffel Tower." She remarked with a grin as she passed Jane and headed up the stairs.

"I actually haven't had that chance yet. Maybe that's something we can do together."

They made their way up to the roof where Jane had set up a small table and two chairs. "Shall we?" She said with a smile when Maura stopped in awe.

"How did you get all of this up here?"

Jane shrugged, "Like I said, I know a few people." Truth be told she couldn't have pulled this off without Jackson's help.

Maura giggled like a schoolgirl. Jane was what she could only imagine in her dreams. She was well mannered, sweet and charming. Went above and beyond to make everything special for her. Holding a conversation with Jane was vastly different than her past relationships. Most of them would dominate the conversation vs Jane who focused on what she had to say and added her own witty jokes or remarks but made Maura feel like the center of attention.

Maura smiled when Jane pulled out her seat.

"Are you planning on sitting or will you stand and eat? I heard that's really not good for your digestion."

Maura chuckled.

"Some state that standing while eating may burn more calories but there really is not sufficient evidence to support that standing while eating is bad for you."

"Hmm, well you're the doctor so who am I to argue with you?" Jane said with a grin as she took her seat. "But my ma sure has some explaining to do."

Both women laughed as they started on their meals.

Later, back at the penthouse. Jane and Maura were cuddled on the couch.

"I think this is my favorite part of the day." Maura said as she raised her head from Jane's chest.

Jane smiled and kissed Maura's forehead. "I would be lying if I said it wasn't mine too."

"Thank you for tonight. Everything was amazing."

Jane stretched before wrapping her arms tighter around the blonde. "Well, I hope you saved room for dessert. I picked up a chocolate mousse pie from that little bakery you like."

"Oh my, Jane I don't think I could eat another bite."

Jane chuckled. "It's alright, ma's food always hits bottom pretty heavy. There's always tomorrow but as comfy as I am right now, I should probably get started on the clean-up."

Maura groaned, "Do you have to?"

"Jane kissed Maura's lips before they both moved from their positions. "Unfortunately, ma's food doesn't only sit heavy it also takes over the kitchen. I mean did you see the mess I made?"

"Well, I'll help then." Maura remarked as she went to stand.

"Nope." Jane said as she pulled Maura back down onto the couch. "You stay put, it's your night off. Why don't you find something to watch and before you know it, I'll be finished and then we can watch something together."

"But Jane, it's only fair. You cooked after all."

Jane waved her hand to dismiss Maura's comment. "Fair smair. You relax. I got this."

Maura laughed lightly. "You know that's not an actual word, right?"

Jane laughed as she tapped Maura's knee and headed into the kitchen.
