Chapter 5: Rescued

Dunesurfer sat on a grassy hillside overlooking a beautiful fall valley. The sun was shining brightly overhead and the winds rustled the grass and leaves on the looked to her right and saw Maxin sitting by her,his warm smile and handsome face emphasized by the sunshine. He took her hand in his and looked in her optics. He leaned in and tenderly pressed his lips to hers. She gasped slightly in surprise and wound a hand around his neck. After a minute,Maxin pulled away and both his servos grasped her shoulders tightly.

"Wake up." he said.

Dunesurfer looked at him puzzled. "What?"

"Wake up!"

Dunesurfer jerked awake . Her vision was blurry and she shook her helm groggily.

"Ugh..."she moaned.

"Good. You're awake." said a smooth cocky voice.

"What? Dunesurfer opened her optics and looked up to see the face of a red mech with red optics. "Who are you?"

"The name's KnockOut. Vanguard and I saved you from those wretched humans called MECH." he said.

"You did what? Wait,you're Decepticons." she said as she quickly sat up.

"Correctamundo." said Vanguard. "And you are an Undecided. Am I right?"

Dunesurfer froze a moment. "Yes. Why? You going to try to turn me to the Decepticons' side?"

"Maybe," KnockOut said. "And yet again,maybe not."

"Maybe not?" she asked. She then looked around and saw they were in a cave in the middle of nowhere. "Where are we?"

"Somewhere where hopefully no one will notice." Vanguard said. "We have a proposition for you,Dunesurfer."

"You know my name?"

"Of course,"he said, "Hard not to when you have known you since we were sparklings."

Dunesurfer froze again. "Since we-? Wait." She leaned in and looked closer and Vanguard. "Have we met?"

Vanguard smiled and leaned closer,his mouth brushing against her audio receptor. He whispered softly. "I am Maxin."

Dunesurfer gasped. "M-..."

"Sh." Vanguard said,pulling back and placing a servo against her mouth. "Not a word,"he whispered.

"KnockOut,we're leaving. Forget the proposition. She was unlikely to accept it on."

KnockOut shrugged,transformed and drove away. Vanguard turned to Dunesurfer and smiled. He walked over to her and kneeled down. He leaned in and pressed his lips to hers. Dunesurfer gasped in surprise and smiled,wrapping her arms around his neck. His arms wrapped around her waist. A few moments later,they pulled apart and smiled at eachother.

"I..." Dunesurfer said. "I thought you were dead." A lone tear flowed down her faceplate.

Vanguard gently wiped away the tear and smiled warmly. "Ah,I would never leave you,you know that. I'll always be here for you. My advice:Go back to the Autobots. Join them. I promise I will be with you as soon as I can."

Dunesurfer opened her mouth to reply but he transformed and drove away. She stod up and walked to the entrance of the cave.

Maxin was alive.
