Summary: Well here we are, this chapter will conclude the Mission 06: Second Chance part of the story. In other words Dante and Vergil can see the portal back to earth but they've got one last roadblock standing in their way.

Chapter 12: Exit Hell Right Turn
"So how did you know which portal to take?" Vergil asked his brother as they effortlessly jumped from one platform to the next.
"It's kind of strange but it's like I could sense where the portal we wanted was and which route to take to get through it. I've been getting that feeling for a while though." Dante answered. "Any ideas why?"
"Several actually." Vergil jumped off a tree branch to the roof top of garden shed. "I think after years of getting pulled into Limbo you're starting to develop the ability to sense your own way out of alternate dimensions."
"Where the hell was that power when I needed it before?" Dante grumbled to himself leaping past Vergil.
From where they were they could see the portal; the double gates to their home was the portal that they needed. Between them and it demons began sprouting from the ground and dropping down from the sky.
"What'd you say, rush 'em?" Dante chuckled drawing Rebellion.
Normally Vergil wouldn't have agreed to such a reckless idea but he was feeling better than he'd felt in a long time. His hand went to his heart and sure enough he could feel it beating nice and strong. As more demons surrounded him he drew Yamato and slammed it into the ground activating his Devil Trigger. His Doppelganger appeared right beside while he was engulfed in a ghostly blue aura. Dante activated his Devil Trigger as well flooding the area with ominous white light and a howling wind.
"Let's party!" He shouted running head long into the mass of demons with his twin right behind him.
Kat had been in the car with some crazy drivers over the years, but none of them had anything on Martin. The boy had shown her he had a learner's permit and ten seconds after he took the wheel Kat wondered how stupid the idiot who gave him that permit was.
"Hang-on!" Martin shouted turning so hard to the left Kat practically slammed into the side. He drove like a madman; wild and completely caught up with the thrill of the drive. "Are you alright?" he asked noticing Kat was looking a little green as he zig-zagged through the upturned field.
"Y-Yeah, just could you drive a little slower?" she wheezed watching the landscape fly by. She knew they had demons on their tail (some of which met their end when Martin decided to turn their car into a battering ram) but with Martin's hectic driving fighting didn't seem so bad.
"Don't worry we're almost there." Martin hit the gas as hard as he could just as the mansion gates came into view. They blew right through the gates, adding more damage to the sports car but not enough for its engine or tires to be damaged.
He pulled up right at the foot of the mansion and opened both doors. Together they ran into the aging mansion that once belonged to Sparda and his family looking for a rift they could use. They searched high and low but they couldn't find one big enough to pull the twin Nephilim back into the human world until…
"Martin! Over here in the fireplace!" Kat called to Martin who was searching the upper levels. He bounded down to see the Wiccan standing before a bluish-green portal about the size of a basketball in the center of the fireplace.
"Will it work?" Martin asked sensing the portal's fluxing energy.
Kat held out both her hands to the portal and like tearing paper she spread them out enlarging the portal only for it to shrink back to its original size.
"We're going to make it work." Kat said with determination in her voice as mystical blue energy filled both her palms. "You take the left side I got the right."
As crazy as it was Dante and Vergil laughed as they sliced through demon after demon while making their way to the platform that housed the portal. Dante grinned from ear to ear every time the empowered Rebellion cut down a squadron of demons with one swipe. Vergil cracked a smile as he swiftly moved from one set of demons to the next with his doppelganger in though, hell it might had been smiling too.
Once they got to the gate they deactivated their Devil Triggers thinking they were done at long last.
"Sorry boys but I'm gonna have to take you both on a little bit of a detour." A booming voice shouted from the skies.
Without warning a ball of light slammed into the spot before the gate blowing Dante and Vergil back. Neither could see as the dark light was brighter than before, it was like looking at a literal black sun. Dante felt his exposed skin begin to sizzle from the intense heat making him growl.
"Oh great. Who the fuck are you?"
"I'm glad you asked Dante," the ball of light faded away to reveal a well-built figure in dark shiny armor. He was about 6'4 covered from head to toe in demonic Greek-style armor that glowed with a surreal black light that reminded the boys of Beowulf, only much stronger and darker. His face would have been handsome with the golden blond hair and well-toned skin expect for one thing; his eyeballs were miniature black suns that held nothing but malice and evil. "I'm Hyperion."
"Like the sun titan?" Vergil asked. "Or…Bune's enforcer?" his hand shot to Yamato realizing they were in for one last battle.
He laughed light heartedly despite the glare both boys were giving him. "The latter I'm afraid. He held out both his hands in an easy manner giving Dante and Vergil a good view of some of the blood stains on the black armor that was adored with spikes, scales, and bone fragments. "You see my boss wants you two taken in. Listen we've all had a long day so how about we do this the easy way, give up and I promise no one gets hurt."
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Ebony and Ivory's bullets bounced off the demon's armor but left a few small, small dents.
"Or we kick your ass and then go home." Dante said aiming his dual guns at the demon's exposed face. "That sounds way better."
Hyperion gave a dark chuckle before disappearing in a flash of light then reappearing behind Dante and Vergil to their shock. "Oh trust me you can try but you're not going to like the results."
He swept both his hands forward and Dante and Vergil were launched into two boulders each shaking their heads in pain. A skull-like helmet appeared covering Hyperion's face expect for his two sun-eyes and his hands burst into demonic fire. He came down on Vergil first attempting to crush him but the white-haired youth rolled aside firing Summoned Swords at him. The swords shatter against his body as he rushed forward swinging both fists at Vergil face. The younger son of Sparda went on the defensive, ducking and using Yamato to guard against the demon's empowered fists. Finally he caught Yamato and used it to lift Vergil off the ground. He kicked Hyperion in the chest, using the impact to leap away from the sun demon.
Vergil's feet burned with slightly pain as he'd felt the heat of Hyperion's body the moment his shoes made contact with the demon's body. Dante leapt at him from behind swinging the Osiris in a wide arc but Hyperion threw up his arms causing the scythe to bounce off. Dante tried again getting the same results and so began the deadly dance as Dante swung Hyperion countered. Vergil rushed forward with a Rapid Slash but Hyperion teleported aside to avoid the attack. A glowing ball of dark light manifested in both his hands, he shot them forward releasing beams of dark light at both boys.
A whistling sound erupt from the Osiris as Dante spun it in circular pattern creating a reflective shield to which the beams bounce off. Once Dante stopped twirling Vergil dashed past Hyperion giving him a few cuts on his left side while Dante charged him with the Arbiter.
CLANK!
Dante expected the collision to end in Hyperion's favor but he didn't expect the shockwave to cause pain to shot up through both his arms. Hyperion dashed forward giving him a solid kick to the gut then two knee blows to the chin followed by putting him in a choke-hold. "I promise you Dante this time will be different. No one's going to…violate you, I promise."
Dante could hear the false sympathy in his words and that only made him angrier. His whole body erupted in flames making Hyperion lighten his grip enough for Dante to throw him off and into Vergil who performed a Divorce on him. Vergil aimed Yamato directly for Hyperion's head but he caught the blade then drove his fist directly into Vergil's stomach, knocking the air out of him. From behind again Dante came in with the Arbiter but Hyperion blasted him with dark light again. Placing both hands around Vergil he began to engulf him with black light that started burning his clothing and skin.
"Just give in to the darkness Vergil. It's easy; all you have to do is let go." Hyperion said as he started attacking Vergil's mind.
Vergil could hear Hyperion digging around in his head and he hated it. "That's exactly why I'm not giving in!"
Crystal clear ice began to spread on Hyperion's hands, divine ice. He howled in pain letting go of Vergil to burn the ice off but giving Vergil the opening he needed to stab his katana into Hyperion's right side. He withdrew the blade then gave him seven cuts and followed up with an upward slash knocking him into the air.
While in the air Dante latched the Hunter Claw on Hyperion's foot and brought him down. Summoning the Eryx he got in three good punches before Hyperion started countering his blows. The demon gave a swift uppercut followed by a right hook but that didn't shake Dante who started charging up his attacks. Sparks exploded from where their fists clashed and the ground began to show signs of cracking. After one exchange of fists Vergil slid between them ramming his elbow into Hyperion's gut then hitting his chin with the butt of his sword. Together the twins rained down physically blow after blow on Hyperion who only grunted in response. Finally they knocked him off the ledge into the abyss below.
"No way it was that easy." Vergil muttered just before Hyperion rocketed back up then slammed his fist down on his skull. A ball of black light appeared before his stomach and all Vergil could do is steel himself before the blast turned into a beam that blasted him all the way onto another platform.
Turning to Dante Hyperion caught both his fists, kneed him in the gut then threw him across the ground. Before he could get up Hyperion stomped on his chest leaving a good size burn mark. He grinned evilly before creating an entire black sun around them burning Dante even more.
"Get off my brother!" Vergil shouted hurling boulders at Hyperion. The boulders disintegrated in contact with the demonic light leaving not even a speck of dust behind. The white haired twin launched himself at the demon bringing Yamato against the orb of black light.
"How cute, you really do care for your brother." Hyperion said using Dante as a launch pad deliver a rocket uppercut to Vergil who countered it with Yamato.
Now suspended in the air Hyperion flew after Vergil, flightless but still cable of fighting. Yamato met Hyperion's harden fist as Vergil descended downward toward the platform but his opponent had other ideas. Transforming into an orb of dark light Hyperion rammed Vergil threw three floating boulders and into another platform.
"Ready to give up?"
All the demon saw was a bright blue light before he was shot back onto the same platform Dante was on. When he turned around he felt two angelic shurikens bury themselves in his forearms earning a cry of pain from him. Dante assaulted him bear handed but non the same, his blows hurt. Taking the Aquila out he spun them in his hands like buzz saws generating a divine wind around each. Throwing both of them creating a whirlwind so powerful and divine it blew Hyperion off his feet.
Like a falcon Vergil flew towards him delivering seven demonic slashes across his torso before stopping next to Dante. Using the excess momentum Vergil released a twenty-foot wide slash mark that completely covered Hyperion. After that Dante began firing Ebony and Ivory with both demonic and angelic energy running through both of them giving the bullets a boost in power.
BOOM!
For a few seconds all was silent expect for the brothers' rigid breathing. Then several black fireballs erupted from the smoke and homed in on them. Dante deflected the attacks while Vergil caught them and absorbed them.
"Let's see you two handle this." Hyperion creating a gigantic ball of dark sunlight the size of a trailer before hurling it at them laughing gleefully.
"Aw fuck how do we block that?" Dante questioned spinning Osiris.
"We don't, we use it." Vergil said holding up his left hand.
The attack grew closer and closer but as it did it began to veer towards Vergil more than anything. Once the ball was within ten feet of them it began to vanish into rays of black light that were quickly absorbed into Vergil through his arm.
"Is that a little too much energy for you absorb Vergil? Demonic energy at that?" Hyperion joked watching Vergil's forehead break out in sweat from all the energy he was absorbing. "Have some more!" Faster than the eye could see Hyperion fired another beam of dark light directly at Vergil.
Seeing the attack coming Vergil quickly absorbed the rest of the attack then put up a barrier around him and Dante. His entire left arm burned with pain, searing some of his coat and shirt off but he knew the wounds would heal in time. Hyperion sliced through the barrier easily, kicking Vergil aside but taking a sword swipe to the back from Dante. Once again the two clashed bare handed to weapon but Dante clearly had the advantage. After performing two back to back Drive moves he roundhouse kicked Hyperion then ran Rebellion through the demon's left shoulder.
Cosmic blue energy began to wrap around the sword making Hyperion cry out in real pain. Dante's eyes glowed the same color running the blade deeper with the intent to completely severe the demon's left arm. Painfully gripping the sword Hyperion pulled it out and flew backwards into the sky. From the ground Vergil launched a storm of Summoned Swords at him taking off small pieces of his armor.
Bringing both his hands together Hyperion formed a massive spear that glowed black at the tip. "You boys are starting to make me angry." He said before coming down with a shockwave that blew both boys backwards. Grinning he watched them come at him with their swords raised. In each hand a five-foot long sword appeared blocking both attacks. "Finally getting down to sword play, this was always Sparda's favorite form of combat!" he laughed as he began pressing both youths back with his flurry of slashes and sun beams.
Focusing on Dante Hyperion brought both swords down watching steam explode between the three blades. "My boss said I can bring in both of you or either of you. You know what that means Dante, just give up your lunatic of a brother and you can walk away free of harm."
"Will you shut the fuck-up! I never thought I'd meet a guy who liked talking as much as I did in a fight!" Dante screamed pushing Hyperion off him then firing the Revenant.
The shots bounce off Hyperion's twin blades. Vergil ran at him swinging Yamato towards his right shoulder but was stopped by a cross guard from Hyperion. He glowed white then a black object shot forward towards Dante.
CLING!
Dante's locked blades with a second Hyperion.
'Physical hologram, great.' Vergil thought trying to avoid Hyperion taking off his arms. He blocked a sword swipe aimed at his right side with Yamato however his left side was wide open. With no choice he brought his sheath up to block the second sword.
"Just think about it Vergil, you could have all the power you want. You'd be in control." Hyperion taunted leaning in close.
Vergil kept his anger in control looking into Hyperion's black orbs. "I am in control, I just want to make sure your kind never get control over me or anyone else." Without breaking his focus Vergil rib kicked Hyperion on his right side.
Hyperion nearly skunk to the ground in pain as the attack was right where his worst wound was still healing. 'Damn you to hell Amon.' He growled in his head.
Using both Yamato and its sheath Vergil performed a powerful Rising Star followed by knocking him right next to his hologram and Dante. Wind and ice curled around Dante and Osiris then exploded when he ran the blade along the hologram and the original. Once they were both down Dante unloading round after round into the demon watching the bullets penetrate leaving small wounds in Hyperion's body.
Rearing back up he charged through the gunfire spinning like a top until he was literally a whirlwind of razor blades and demonic light. Stepping up Vergil summoned a ring of swords around them.
CLING! CLING! CLING! CLING!
A blinding light hit both brothers' eyes followed by stings of pain in their arms and legs. Gusts of wind knocked both of them face first into the ground tasting blood and dirt. Hyperion stabbed both his swords into the ground to grab them and lift them up.
"End of the road boys but you fought well." Hyperion said summoning chains to bind them.
"You should really think about getting shades for your eyes. Glowing fireballs of doom are kind of turn-offs for the ladies." Dante smirked looking directly into Hyperion's puzzled eyes.
"ARG!" Dropping both of them Hyperion shrunk back feeling something powerful slam into his eye sockets nearly crushing them. "You little bastard!"
Dante switched to the Eryx while Vergil summoned his Beowulf. Roaring they slammed their respective fists into Hyperion's body knocking him through five platforms. Rather than stick around to finish the battle they made a bee-line for the portal but once again Hyperion wouldn't have any of it.
Reappearing before them he blasted them with more sun beams. "Telekinesis eh Dante? I would have thought Vergil would get that with having the bigger brain and all."
"Trust me it was a shocker for me too." Dante said getting back up. He launched a series of telekinetic blasts at Hyperion but the demon shrugged them off.
"You still have a ways to go."
Re-summoning both his swords Hyperion unleashed a barrage of beams and light orbs at the twins. Tensing up Dante called forth his angelic side creating a barrier of blue energy around them. Calling up his demon side Vergil fired a series of energy slashes that chipped the armor off of Hyperion.
'"Looks like we really are going to have to do this the hard way boys. You should have listened to me." He sighed before doing something neither Dante nor Vergil expected.
The air around Hyperion became distorted then began to be sucked inward along with everything else within a two hundred foot radius. Platforms that were adrift suddenly began crashing into the one they were all on and anything not heavily bond was drawn towards him and crushed into oblivion. If it weren't for their swords or resistance Dante and Vergil would have been sucked in too.
"Gravitational pull of a black sun sure is something isn't it?" Hyperion laughed watching the two struggle to keep from being sucked in. "Don't worry since you're wanted alive I'll only crush half the bones in your bodies."
Grunting Dante glared at Hyperion. "Just try it." His entire body flared up as a red aura bathed Dante. Vein-like cracks spread from his chest and neck up to his face, his hair changed from black to chalk-white, and his eyes became red with white around certain parts.
The entire world changed colors to simply black and white and a black wind swept through the area completely negating the gravitational pull Hyperion had summoned.
SWOOSH!
Rebellion left a black and white trail behind it while its wielder's foot prints became fiery imprints. Hyperion's arms hurt from the impact, shaking it off he brought both swords down on Dante. In matter of seconds Dante overpowered the sun demon and dragged Rebellion along his abdomen then slashed his right shoulder.
SWOOSH! SWOOSH!
Two blue blurs passed Hyperion's legs before he felt blood spray from them causing him to collapse. Looking up he saw Vergil standing alongside his doppelganger, both bringing their swords up against his chest launching him into the air.
Dante appeared above him performing a Helm Breaker that would have fatally wounded Hyperion had he not brought his swords up in time to counter. From below Vergil and the doppelganger jetted upward cutting him on the back. Ignoring the pain he hit the ground hard in standing position with his swords raised.
CLING! BOOM!
Hyperion grunted at the collision between his two swords and Dante's Rebellion. A cloud of black dust kicked up behind him due to the fierce exchange and grew when Dante threw another slash at him only to be countered. Instead of fighting him he pulled back to avoid the combined attack of the white haired Nephilim and his doppelganger. The two unleashed a barrage of attacks with Dante jumping in for a heavy swing forcing Hyperion to stay on the defensive.
'Aim for his right side ribcage!' Vergil mentally informed his twin breaking off from Hyperion along with his doppelganger.
Taking his advice Dante swung low at their enemy's right side and indeed he howled in pain when Rebellion drew blood.
'They're working together.' Hyperion realized fending off blows from one only to be attacked by another a moment later, each attack growing in strength. 'Heh, reminds me way too much of Sparda and his brother back in the day.'
Hyperion cut through the doppelganger only to watch it fade away to reveal Vergil swinging an empowered Yamato directly at his chest.
SWOOSH!
Black light and blood sprayed form the wound but that wasn't the end of the assault.
Roaring in supernatural fury Dante brought Rebellion down diagonally crossing Vergil's slash blowing Hyperion back, leaving a trail of broken earth behind him.
"Get out of our way." Dante snarled feeling power surge through him and Vergil.
"I can't do that, if I do I'll be in for it from my boss." Hyperion smiled darkly then threw both swords at the sons of Sparda. They shattered before they could even reach them courtesy of the reformed doppelganger. "Know despair." He said before throwing both his arms wide creating a massive dark sun around himself.
Once the dark light hit them Dante and Vergil fell to their knees, even in their super-powered state. They could hear voices calling to them, telling them to give up and just accept defeat. For a split second they almost did.
This world is under my protection now.
It's never too late for a second chance.
Getting to their feet Dante and Vergil raised both their swords together so the blades formed an x-shape. Cosmic blue energy wrapped around Dante and dark red energy wrapped around Vergil. With iron in their blood they ran forward disregarding whatever wounds they received along the way.
Seeing them Hyperion summoned a gigantic axe to counter. Too late.
BOOM!
Simultaneously their Devil Triggers deactivated leaving them drained of nearly all their energy. Still they pushed forward towards the portal not stopping until it was within arm's reach. First it was Vergil then Dante. All they saw was white, pure hazy white.
"Um I think something's coming through." Martin said watching the portal ripple and vibrate.
Kat stopped concentrating to see two lights appear in portal; one blue and the other red. Immediately she poured all her strength into making the portal grow so large it was the size of a queen sized bed. Martin joined in expanding the portal creating a rope that he hurled into the portal.
THUMP!
The twins slid to a stop in front a winded Kat and Martin. Their clothes were torn, they were bleeding in various places, their bodies covered with dirt and ash, and were each glowing a slight purple color. For a minute neither moved then came a groan from Dante followed by Vergil. Wearily they sat up using their elbows to see Kat and Martin staring at them. Behind them the portal crackled and vanished leaving them alone in the empty fire place.
Sitting up Dante glared at the fireplace. "Last time I take portal express." Turning to see Vergil he grinned then he saw Kat who looked close to tears. "See? Told ya' I-"
Whatever he was about to see was lost due to Kat practically bear hugging him and Vergil while crying. It took a moment but the sons of Sparda brought their hands up to comfort her. To the side Martin smiled at the reunion of friends.
Looking at each other over Kat's shoulder the brothers grinned. "Jackpot."
AND CUT! Writing this chapter was really fun for me, maybe because in it Dante and Vergil finally escaped. How was the Hyperion fight? It may have been a little vague but I want this to be known; all three of them weren't at full strength but I wanted Dante and Vergil to have to push themselves and Hyperion to get serious towards the end. Next chapter's going to be the final one with Dante, Vergil, Kat, and Martin making their escape from Limbo City, I'll have it out by Friday.
