show details Mar 18
Do you remember when your life was a show at the circus?
Walking through your life on a tightrope so high.
It was intoxicating.
In turbulent times, you were a trapeze,
swinging past a haze of faces.
Each act was so false, hidden by layers of pretenses.
You were on display all the time
while they laughed and made merry around you
oblivious to your pain behind the glass.
And they said, " Oh its that the clown boy?"
Knowing nothing of you or your world.
They could put you in a suit,
dye your hair, and paint your clothes.
They could make your nose round
and your shoes enormous.
But they couldn't take away your pain
behind the mask of the clown.
And your audience, clapped and laughed
as you made a fool of yourself.
You laughed with them.
Though inside, you were ready to cry.
Then your second act would come.
You were scared, as you walked in the ring.
The chattering babble around you
couldn't drown away your fears.
They whipped you with cruel words,
The pain stinging you through your fatigue.
Then something changed your world...
and the trapeze was finally still.
Your cage was broken.
Your mask was off.
For she saw you, underneath
the lies.
She saved you from the hurt.
She pulled you from the ground
where you lay, invisible to the world.
And that day, when she walked into your life,
everything froze.
You stopped, your chains coming free
and dissolving under her gaze.
But you weren't sure why she was looking at you.
You didn't know, though she held your gaze.
You walked to her in a trance, though this was more real than anything you had ever known.
And suddenly everything was all right.
You could feel the lavender in her eyes bringing life to your dead body, awakening your heart.
She wrapped you in her arms, and you felt for the first time an emotion that you could not name for this girl who broke through your circus.
You felt love.
