Dave POV:

"Again."

"But Balthazar-"

He cut me off with a glare. "If you can't manage to levitate a stuffed animal you most certainly won't be able to manage your tesla coils."

Well he had a point…."Fine…"

After about, oh I don't know, five hours of trying to levitate a stuffed tiger, I finally could hold it a foot off the ground for six minutes at a time.

Maybe now Balthazar would let me go see Becky. I haven't taken her on a proper date in weeks!

"Dave, I need to talk to you."

"Yes almighty master?"

He rolled his eyes at my sarcasm before continuing. What, it wasn't worth a sharp jibe back? I'm losing my touch…

"Veronica and I have something very important to attend to-"

"You're finally getting hitched?"

He pretended not to notice my interruption. "And we cannot take you with us. Since you would most likely burn down my house, shop, and your lab if left alone we are leaving you at a school. A school for wizards and witches."

"Wait a minute! Wizards and witches? I'm a sorcerer!"

My master looked at me with a bored expression or a moment before replying. "I am very much aware of that Dave, and I never said you were a wizard. But if you don't stop interrupting me I will be forced to leave you here at Horvath's mercy."

3RD PESON POV:

After waiting for his apprentice to nod in assent, Balthazar continued. "You will be going to Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

You will be the only sorcerer in the school so you need to know a few things. First off, students at Hogwarts use wands to focus their magical energy. Since you use a ring you will not need a wand. The level of training you are at leaves a lot to be desired, but you will be starting at roughly your 4th year. "

Balthazar paused to give his apprentice time to let all this information sink in. On his many travels, Balthazar had met Albus Dumbledore. He was a fine man who knew what he was doing with his school.

But even he would have his hands full with Balthazar's apprentice. Dave was…special? There really isn't a good word to describe him. Trouble maybe, or clumsy, or maybe just eccentric, but Balthazar could usually keep him in line.

After a few seconds Balthazar turned to his apprentice and prompted," Well?"

"Will I get to meet Harry Potter?"

Balthazar groaned.
