I just wanna thank those who have read and already favorited/subscribed to this story. I know the first chapter was really short, which is why I'm posting this one now. It's a little longer, not that much longer, but yeah... and I know the chapters will be longer as they go on. So a quick shout-out to the reviewers! AFlawlessBeauty, nangelgirl923, Constantinox3, Mr BC, GallagherZammieBlackthorne, and Channyforeva87 - thanks for the reviews!

I hope you all enjoy! :)

7/8 years old - The Tree

Summer once more. The summer before Zora started 3rd grade. It was only two years ago that she started Kindergarten, and last year she started 1st grade. Not two months into the year her teacher recommended she skip to the 2nd grade, as she was already reading at a higher level and was ready for more challenging material. The same thing happened to her brother when he started 1st grade, so it was no surprise his little sister would do the same.

She sat on a branch from her favorite tree, not too high off the ground as she wasn't that great at climbing yet, just staring out at the park. She watched kids of all ages playing on the playground and in the open grass.

She suddenly felt something move near her. She didn't look, as it was probably a squirrel or a bird. It wasn't until she heard a voice that she turned around.

"Hey, this is my tree!"

Zora held the urge to roll her eyes. Shayne, again. She should've known that it was too good to be true that she hadn't seen him in the park at all.

"Your tree? This is my tree!" she said to him, crossing her arms. "This is the first tree I ever climbed."

"Yeah, well it's the first tree I ever climbed too!" Shayne said. He inched closer. "And 'cause I'm older I climbed it before you. I probably climbed it when you were still sucking your thumb like a baby."

"You're not even two years older than me," Zora said. "I learned to climb trees the same time Jordan did."

"Whatever," Shayne said. "It's still my tree. I'm older."

"I was here first!"

"I climbed it first!"

"How do you know?"

"'Cause I'm older, and learned to climb before you!"

"No you didn't!"

"Yes I did!"

"Did not!"

"Did so! It's my tree! Get off!"

The next thing Zora knew, she fell to the ground, breaking her fall with her arms, mostly her right. She sat up, cradling her arm. Holding back tears she looked up at Shayne, who stood on the branch he just pushed her off of.

"I told you to get off," Shayne said. "What's a matter? You gonna cry like a little baby?"

"N-No," Zora said, wincing. "It doesn't even hurt that much."

Before Shayne said anything else, she stood up and walked away. She continued to cradle her arm; pain shot from her wrist to her shoulder. She wanted to stop, fall on the ground and cry. But she didn't. She held back tears from the excruciating pain until she found her parents.

Then the tears fell.

What a little jerk I made Shayne! Haha.

So again, I posted this chapter early 'cause the other one was so short.

Until next time my faithful readers/reviewers!

:)
