Okay, so this chapter is longer, like I promised. So thanks to the readers of this one! I have over 200 hits on it. Not as many reviews, but still, I'm glad to be getting the hits. And of course I really appreciate the reviews, so I wanna thank Channyforeva87, nangelgirl923, MiiMyselfandTime, GallagherZammieBlackthorne, Ace5492, AFlawlessBeauty, and TheDarkLordNwitchpire for reviewing! I think what's cool about this fic is when you see some references to it in my other fic - Facebook Official. Trust me, you're going to be seeing Zora and Shayne reminiscing on their past quite a few times, hehe :) Anyway, I'm gonna stop so you can read!

9/11 years old - The Bet

Shayne sat on the branch of the same tree he and Zora had been arguing over for the last two and a half years. He sat there staring down at the kids in the park, the younger kids played on the playground without a care. The kids his age weren't playing though. They were all gathered around Zora.

He smirked. She was leaving at the end of the week. Some talent scout had been at their school's talent show the month before and asked her to audition for a new show - So Random. Sure, it was cool someone from their town was going to Hollywood, but he was more happy that she was leaving.

At least, he thought he was.

The thoughts came to him earlier that day when he realized this was one of the last times he'd see her. At first, he was happy. He soon realized thought that he'd have no one to pick on. Sure, he picked on other kids younger than him, heck, he even picked on Levi sometimes because he was two minutes younger than him. But Zora was his favorite to bug. Because she fought back.

"Did your brain turn off, or did your face always look like that?"

He looked down to see that Zora had escaped the crowd of kids congratulating her and was now looking up at him.

"Funny," he said. "If you have to know, I was just thinking."

"That's a first," Zora said, smirking. "I thought Levi did all the thinking for you."

Shayne narrowed his eyes at her. He looked away, not bothering to respond. He heard her let out a laugh before hearing the familiar sounds of her climbing the tree. She stood on the same branch he sat on, leaning against the trunk. He looked at her with a smirk.

"You know, since you're leaving, the tree is all mine now."

"Nice try. I'll be coming home once in a while," Zora said. "And you can bet I'll be spending a lot of quality time with my tree."

"Well, the tree will forget who you are by the time you come back," Shayne said.

Zora shook her head at him. "Yeah... sure."

"Well... I guess I could allow you to sit on the tree for about, 2 minutes when you come back," Shayne said. "After all, I'll have to go to the bathroom at least once."

"And while you're away I'll have my Hollywood body-guards keep you from coming back onto the tree," Zora said matching his smirk. Shayne's smile fell.

"Yeah right. You'll probably come home in a few weeks because you'll be homesick," he said. "That's right, you'll come back crying... like a baby."

"Oh yeah?" Zora said crossing her arms. "I might not ever come back. I'll become so famous that I'll forget all about this place. In a few years, I'll forget about the tree, school, you, and everything else in this town."

"You won't," Shayne said. "I bet you won't."

"And I bet I will."

Shayne sat up straight. A smile came to his face. "Oh yeah? Well, let's make it official. If you do forget about everything here eventually, then I'll become your personal butler or driver or something when I'm older. I'll work for you."

"Fine," Zora said.

"But," Shayne said, postponing the "official" handshake. "If you don't forget about everything here, you have to kiss me."

"Ew! No way! That's gross," Zora said. "Forget it."

Shayne smirked. "What's the matter? Not so sure that you'll win?"

Zora narrowed her eyes. She wasn't one to back down from a challenge. Especially from Shayne. But she couldn't bear the thought of having to kiss him if she lost the bet. She was only nine after all. Who thought about kissing at that age? Then again, she may not ever come back, so she wouldn't have to worry about it. That would mean she won the bet.

"No, I'm gonna win," she said. "There's no way I'm gonna kiss you. Ever."

"We'll see about that," Shayne said. "You'll lose and then you'll be humiliated when you have to kiss me."

"I don't think so," Zora said. "Let's just shake on it. I gotta get home and start packing. I need to make sure I take everything I need for my new life."

They shook hands and Zora climbed down. Without looking back she yelled up to him.

"I'll have my people find you when I need you to start working for me!"

Shayne rolled his eyes as she watched her walk off and disappear in the crowd of children. He sat there, alone with his thoughts once more. His brain thought about the possibility of her winning the bet. What if she really forget all about the small town of Pine Hollow, Oregon? Would she really forget all about her friends just like that? Would she really forget about him? And possibly their bet?

It was then that Shayne realized he would actually miss her when she left.

Not that he'd ever admit it.

Hehe, what do you think of that bet? Honestly, this chapter just kinda wrote itself after the first paragraph.

So thanks for reading (and reviewing ;D)!
