Arizona couldn't sleep the whole night after her conversation with Callie. She tossed and turned in bed, reviewing their interactions from the previous day. The blonde knew she couldn't be in a relationship with the Orthopedic surgeon, but she also knew she said the wrong things.

She needed to apologize.

It was Callie's second day, and the morning was starting with a department head meeting. The Latina wasn't excited to see the blonde, especially after finding out the real reasons why Arizona didn't want to go out with her.

Truthfully Callie thought Arizona was different, but clearly, she was just another woman who wasn't open to being in a relationship with a woman with a penis.

Which was usually fine for Callie. She's met other women before who genuinely didn't have an interest in having sex with her. It didn't upset Callie or make her insecure about her body. Some people's interests just conflicted.

But Callie saw firsthand how much Arizona enjoyed having sex with her. She felt Arizona's walls spasm around her length. She watched as the blonde arched her back and moaned for more.

Callie was a confident woman who knew when the sex was good. She knew she wanted Arizona, so it was hard to accept when Arizona didn't want her back.

"How did your first day go, Callie?" Derek entered the boardroom and sat beside the Latina. He reached for the coffee and poured himself a cup.

"It was great. I'm excited to work with everyone." Callie smiled genuinely.

The brunette watched as Arizona entered the boardroom, mid-conversation with Ellis Grey. This morning, the blonde was in her navy blue scrubs, her hair braided into a low bun. She looked adorable.

"Good morning, everyone!" Arizona smiled at the heads of departments. "I hope everyone is having a great day so far." The blonde sat down.

All the surgeons nodded in agreement.

"I wanted to start today's meeting by introducing our newest Head of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Calliope Torres." Arizona beamed her smile at Callie and prompted everyone to start clapping.

"Thank you, everyone… really, but only my father calls me Calliope. I go by Callie." The brunette smiled at her coworkers. "I can't wait to work with you all and be a part of the talent here." Callie nodded politely.

"Calliope Torres. As in, your father is the founder of Torres Incorporated? He's the businessman who influences every hospital administration in America, including the Avery Foundation." Cristina Yang looked over at Meredith and Derek, seeking confirmation.

"Um, yes, he is. That hasn't really impacted my performance as a surgeon, though." Callie nodded.

"We've got another nepotism baby." Yang shrugged.

"Alright, Dr. Yang, thank you." Dr. Webber voiced in.

Arizona watched her coworkers respond to Cristina's comment. It seems that no one linked Callie to her father other than Mark, Addison, Derek and Meredith. But now the truth was out, and understanding Callie's true status as a surgeon was out there.

Arizona stood up before any whispers could start, "Callie was working at New York Presbyterian as an attending. She was top of her class like the rest of us and has many outstanding outcomes. Like all of you, people come from all over the country for her operating skills. Dr. Grey and Dr. Webber sought her out and offered her the position here along with the research grant. She will be doing big things here, and I want this to light a fire under the rest of you. Think big, and then do more than that. I want you all to do more - strive for more. I'll be doing the same."

Callie couldn't help but smile as Arizona addressed her staff. It was obvious that she was respected as everyone in the room, including Ellis and Richard, grasped onto every word and wanted to prove they were the best.

"As for Dr. Robbins, I coordinated for her and Dr. Sloan to operate on an obstetric teenager today. It's a high-risk, high-profile surgery, so please don't need them today." Ellis stepped in.

Arizona continued the meeting going over all departments and their goals for that week. The meeting ended after an hour, and all the surgeons left the room.

"Listen, Dr. Torres. I didn't mean to call you out like that, but I thought knowing your God status was necessary. You're not to be messed with. I got your back." Cristina nodded toward Callie before walking out.

"Uh, right. Okay, thanks?" Callie sighed, getting up from her seat to walk out.

"Dr. Torres? Do you mind if we have a quick word?" Arizona spoke from her spot at the top of the board table.

Callie was about to walk out of the room, but she stopped in her tracks as Arizona called her. She sighed and closed the door before turning around.

"Yes?"

"I wanted to say... I'm sorry for yesterday." Arizona stood up.

"It's fine, Arizona. Really, don't worry about it." Callie looked towards the door.

"No, it's not fine because I wasn't telling you the truth. What I said to you was wrong. " The blonde stepped forward.

"Arizona, if you don't like having sex with me, it's okay. I get it—" Callie started to ramble.

"No, shut up." Arizona took Callie's hands and looked up into her dark eyes. She wanted Callie to understand her clearly. "I really, really like having sex with you."

"But you said-" Callie started but was interrupted.

"What I said yesterday about.. not being interested.. in penises. I meant to say... I'm just not used to it. I was nervous. But you.. made me feel better than anything I've felt before." Arizona looked down from Callie's eyes down to her lips.

"Arizona.." Callie's breath hitched. She leaned to kiss the blonde with the want they both obviously had right now.

"But I can't, Callie.." Arizona sighed and stepped back. "I want to. I really do, but once I start taking things further with you, I won't be able to stop."

"So don't stop…" Callie whispered, squeezing Arizona's hands.

"I don't think you realize the magnitude of your birth line…" Arizona chuckled. "Your father is Carlos Torres, the businessman who influences most hospital organizations in this country, including this hospital."

"Please don't tell me my father is why you won't let me have you." Callie groaned.

"Callie, if people found out we were sleeping together, my credibility as the Chief would be tarnished. Sleeping with one of my surgeons, specifically the surgeon who realistically can have a lot of say and influence on the policies and function of this hospital."

Callie looked down and sighed, taking her hands away from the blonde. She knew Arizona was right. Realistically her last name had impacted her whole life. She's always been considered a high-profile family. Callie knew she would be affected when she decided to be a surgeon, but she didn't realize it would be to this extent.

"If we take things further.. it will be harder for me to advance my career." Arizona sighed.

"Okay." Callie looked over Arizona's face, knowing she was regretting her words.

"I'm sorry, Callie. We can be friends. We don't have to.. not talk" Arizona stepped back, gathering her papers.

"Right.. friends." Callie straightened out the scrubs she was wearing.

"As your Chief, I do have to ask.. are there any specifications I should know about you and your work here?" Arizona asked the brunette.

"Specifications?" Callie asked.

"Well, Addison sometimes has a security guard or escort service here when her mother is in town. Catherine Avery often stops by the hospital and usually has a team following her at all times. Ellis often has press here asking about her next medical revelations." The blonde rolled her eyes playfully. "I was wondering if there is anything I need to be prepared for." She shrugged.

"No.. nothing you need to prepare for. I occasionally have security if my father is in town, but they don't make themselves known. If my father ever does come here, you'll know about it." Callie sighed, remembering having this conversation with her previous Chief.

"Understood. Thanks... Cal... um, Dr. Torres." Arizona smiled softly.

"Well, um, good luck on your surgery this afternoon Dr. Robbins." Callie nodded and walked out of the office. She didn't realize being around Arizona and not being able to have her was this hard.

"I have a problem." Arizona sighed as she entered the NICU with her pink gown over scrubs. She picked up a baby and looked over at her best friend and, technically, student.

"Does it have to do with Dr. Torres?" Alex put his stethoscope buds in his ears as he listened to a baby's heart.

"What? How did you figure that out?" Arizona's eyes widened.

"Because I know you. And I see the way you look at her this morning." He chuckled.

"I did not look at her any differently." Arizona defended.

"Robbins, I know you." He scoffed, checking the IV fluids being administered to the baby.

"Fine. What the hell do I do, Alex?" Arizona whispered, making sure no one around them could overhear their conversation.

"Well, she must be a good lay if she has you stressed like this. I say you keep going at it." He shrugged.

Arizona groaned and looked up at the ceiling. How did Alex make everything seem so simple? "Alex, she's Callie freaking Torres."

"And you didn't know that when you first slept with her?" Alex looked up at his boss before moving to the next baby and checking their vitals.

"She never told me her last name. I didn't know she was.. who she is! And I sure as hell didn't know I would be her boss! But at this point, I'm not even her boss because her father is the boss to my bosses. He might as well own every hospital in America."

"Dude.. you slept with an heiress," Alex smirked.

"I slept with an heiress…" Arizona put down the baby she was holding, smiling as she noticed the NICU babies were doing well today.

"And you don't want to stop sleeping with her.. do you," Alex looked at Arizona in deep thought.

"I'm screwed, Alex."

"Listen. Just take it slow. One day at a time. I know you. You don't make mistakes. Everything you do is well thought out. Whatever you decide to do will be for a good reason." He nodded. "Now go scrub in before you're late."

Arizona nodded, not knowing what she was going to do about Callie. She was used to pushing her feelings aside, but her feelings for Callie were overwhelming and confusing. All the blonde knew was that she had to go save the lives of a mother and a baby.

"Thanks, Alex."

Arizona watched the operating tv screen displaying the senator's pregnant teenage daughter's uterus. She was in a car accident and the neonatal surgeon was repairing the baby's heart without opening the mother up.

Arizona was in her element, making quick decisions and acting faster than she could think.

"How does it feel to operate instead of doing paperwork today?" Mark asked as he was repairing a skin graft on the same patient.

"Amazing.." Arizona smiled from behind her mask at Mark. "So I hear you, Dr. Torres, Dr. Montgomery and Dr. Shepherd go way back."

"Oh yeah." Mark nodded. "Derek and I go back to high school. But Callie, Addison and I met in our first years of medical school."

"And now here, all of you are on my surgical floor." Arizona continued to operate.

"Some may say that's a blessing.." Mark smirked from behind his mask.

"And what would the others say?" Arizona chuckled.

"Watch out." Mark smiled.

"Well, as long as you all get along and follow the rules, my rules.. then we're good." Arizona shrugged.

"Don't worry, Chief. We got your back. All of us. We want this place to be the best just as much as you do." Mark nodded.

"Great. And being the best means operating on high-profile patients like this one. Which we have successfully done. So good work Dr. Sloan." Arizona smiled and observed her work. It took her four hours to repair the tiny heart valve of the unborn baby. This is what Arizona loved doing, saving lives.

The young Chief scrubbed out of her surgery, and she still had a full day ahead of her. She went straight from scrubbing out to updating the patient's family, who happened to be the senator and his wife.

Once she calmed the nerves of loved ones for the millionth time in her career, Arizona went on to her budget meeting. She wasn't the biggest fan of budgets, but they were necessary to understand and keep on top of when being an excellent Chief.

"What's next on my schedule Pamela?" Arizona walked over and asked the administration clerk, who had a desk outside her office.

"You have about thirty minutes of free time for lunch. Then you have a board meeting." The older woman smiled.

"Thanks, Pam." Arizona nodded.

The blonde thought she would go see her new Orthopedic hire. She felt like she left things on the wrong foot, and she really did want to be Callie's friend. So naturally, Arizona thought to bring the woman coffee.

She grabbed two hot cups from the third floor and went down to the Orthopedic wing on the fourth floor. The floor was colorless and not nearly as cheerful as her pediatric unit, but Arizona still managed to spread the pediatric cheerfulness wherever she went.

Arizona stood at the entrance to Callie'a new lab. It was an impressive size, and Arizona was slightly jealous she couldn't use it for her own research. She smiled as she saw the Latina deep in concentration.

"I brought a peace offering," Arizona spoke up.

Callie looked up from the resumes she was reviewing to the coffee in the small pale hand.

"You brought me coffee…"

"I didn't know what lunch foods you like, so I thought coffee would supplement well." The blonde smiled, stepping into the lab and placing the coffee in front of the brunette.

"Why are you bringing me coffee?" Callie raised her brow.

"Because you and I are going to be friends." Arizona smiled.

"Really? Why?.." Callie said disbelievingly.

"Because I'm an awesome friend. And I like talking to you. So we are going to be friends." Arizona sipped her coffee before sitting down opposite Callie.

"Listen, Arizona. We really don't have to do the whole pleasantry thing. You're the Chief of Surgery. I don't expect this—"

"Just drink the coffee Calliope." Arizona raised her brow, not taking no for an answer.

"Fine." Callie sighed and sipped the coffee. She needed it after all the reading she had done today.

"So, how is everything going? Does everything meet your expectations so far?" Arizona smiled, knowing Callie must be impressed with their hospital so far.

Callie smiled, putting down her pen. "It's impressive here, Arizona. Even your interns are impressing me. Your residents are talented, and you have an attending team with Ellis, Richard, Meredith, Cristina, Teddy, Alex, Mark, Addison, Derek, and Amelia. You have a fully stacked team."

Arizona leaned back in her chair, smiled proudly, and sipped her coffee, "thank you."

"Not to mention you have Jackson, Addison, Meredith and Ellis Grey, Richard Webber and me in the same hospital... and you are, technically the boss of us" Callie snickered, knowing that she and her friends were high-profile individuals.

Jackson Avery is a resident whose family is known for the Harper Avery Foundation and the famous surgical innovation award.

Addison Montgomery is a world-class surgeon whose family is known for Montgomery businessmen. The fetal-maternal surgeon herself is worth more than the hospital and had previously started many private practices independently in New York.

Richard Webber and Ellis Grey had made a name for themselves as surgical titans. Both have pioneered surgical techniques that have never been done before. Meredith Grey is Ellis Grey's daughter, who inevitably walks in her Mother's shoes.

Callie Torres is the daughter of Carlos Torres and next in line to be head of her family's empire. The 34-year-old made a name for herself in New York as a kickass Orthopedic surgeon, but she is known in the business world as the daughter of someone who was not to be messed with. No one came close to intimidating Carlos Torres. He is one of the elites in the business world. He regularly has security to protect himself and the information he holds. Callie had been lucky to stay away from that lifestyle and focus on her medical career. Still, it was inevitable that her financial status would be a part of her identity.

Arizona shrugged her shoulders and looked into Callie's eyes, admiring how expressive they were. "I guess you all must enjoy working under such a great Chief."

"So humble.." Callie chuckled. "You were amazing in that surgery this morning, by the way."

"You were watching?" Arizona asked.

"Of course. I had to see what my Chief was bringing to the table." Callie winked and smiled, loving how easy the conversation with Arizona was.

"Well, it's good I didn't make any mistakes." Arizona blushed slightly, standing up. "This was fun. We will do it again soon, I hope. I have a board meeting to get to, though."

"Thanks for the coffee Chief." Callie picked up her pen again, silently admiring the blonde's ass as she walked towards the door.

"Bye, Calliope." Arizona smiled before leaving the room.

Callie noticed how Arizona would call her Calliope, not Dr. Torres or Callie like everyone else. She liked how the blonde said her name, but she questioned why she did it.

Two weeks passed, and Callie was falling into a natural routine at SGMW. She worked with her ortho team on the unit in the mornings, completed any surgeries by late afternoon, and finished her research work until she left in the evening. The Latina had secured her research team, and everyone was starting to refine their methodologies and hypotheses.

She loved seeing her friends here. Having lunch with Addison, Mark and Derek felt like home. The Latina didn't celebrate family holidays and occasions because her parents were always gone. But her three best friends were always there and wanted to celebrate together. Seeing them again daily felt right, and Callie enjoyed updating them on her research progress.

The brunette was also getting along with Cristina and Alex, who were proving they were just as talented as their friends.

Arizona had made an effort to find Callie for casual conversation or to compliment a surgery she had performed. The blonde would often bring coffee or an occasional pastry for the Latina.

Callie didn't mind seeing the blonde. But whenever she saw Arizona, she couldn't help the want that took over her body. The brunette figured out that Arizona only operated on Mondays and Thursdays. Every other day she was doing other things. The brunette noticed she loved when Arizona wore her scrubs on those days, but she also salivated when the blonde walked around the hospital with a skirt, high heels and a blouse. When the blonde smiled at her, Callie couldn't help but picture the smile on Arizona's face when she came.

It was Monday afternoon, and Callie was at the nursing station in the ER. The brunette reviewed the new admissions, seeing if she needed to sign off on anything.

"Odd seeing you down here.." Arizona wheeled over to the nursing station where Callie and Teddy were sitting.

Callie looked up as the blonde wheeled over. "Um, yep, been here all morning. You're the one usually not here."

"She only operates on Mondays and Thursdays. If she doesn't have anything scheduled, she looks down here for a cool surgery" Teddy chimed in, reading her own charts.

"Exactly." Arizona smiled.

"And.. did you wheel over here on something?" Callie stood up, trying to understand better what Arizona could be standing on.

"She wears wheels for shoes on surgery days." Teddy chuckled, again answering for the blonde.

"Why?" Callie looked at the blonde.

"Because heelies are awesome, Dr. Torres. I get places quicker." the blonde said simply.

"Are you sure that's allowed? That screams so many injuries to me." Callie looked at Teddy, to which the trauma surgeon shrugged.

"It's allowed." Arizona reached over and took one of Callie's charts. "Anything interesting today?"

"Not really. There's not usually a lot of pregnant people down here." Callie looked over at Arizona. Her hair was braided again on one side and the rest was pulled into a ponytail. She looked beautiful.

Teddy chuckled at the remark.

Addison and Mark entered the emergency room and approached the nursing station. "Anything interesting?" Mark asked.

"No. And if there is, the appropriate people would be paged." Callie sat down in her chair again. She felt the blonde was watching her, and it was hard to focus on the discussions.

Arizona smiled at how flustered she could make the brunette. It made her feel the control she secretly needed. "So, Dr. Torres, how is the research team Ellis compiled for you?"

"They're great, actually." Callie smiled. "I was planning to get them together informally to get to know each other better as a team."

"That's a great idea! We should do a small gathering at your place Callie." Addison stepped in. "She has a similar penthouse to mine, it's beautiful. That's a great place for people to get together, and you can meet the rest of the staff."

Callie nodded, "I'm sure I can make some calls to get that to happen."

"That sounds fun." Teddy smiled.

"Great. Let's do it this Friday. You're all coming. You too, Chief." Addison pointed at Arizona.

"Oh no, you guys have fun." Arizona smiled politely.

"Oh, cmon, Arizona. You used to always come out with the attendings." Teddy pouted at the blonde.

Callie raised her brow towards the blonde. She wondered what she was like when she wasn't the Chief.

"I have things to do." Arizona chuckled, putting another chart back on Callie's pile. "Bye, everyone! You all better save a life today." The blonde beamed her prize-winning smile before she rode away on her heelies.

Arizona had just finished scrubbing out of her last surgery for the day. She felt amazing. She just completed another amniotic reconstruction on a 24-week mother. But it was now almost 8 pm, and the surgeon was tired. She wanted to go home, have a glass of wine and fall asleep watching trashy tv.

She was rolling down the hospital hallway in her heelies, looking at her phone to ensure she answered any last-minute emails for the day. As the blonde turned the corner, she bumped into Callie and almost lost her balance. The brunette instinctively grabbed Arizona's arms to keep her upright.

"Holy crap, Arizona!" Callie looked down at the blonde. "You seriously shouldn't be wearing those."

"Sorry, I wasn't really watching where I was going.." the blonde smiled sheepishly, putting away her phone and looking up at Callie.

"People were right about you, you know." Callie smiled back and let the blonde go. They walked side by side down the hallway and into the stairwell, both walking down the stairs.

"What do you mean?" Arizona walked beside the ortho surgeon.

"You are unbelievably cheerful.. and perky." Callie chuckled. "It's cute."

"I know you did not just call me cute.." Arizona pouted, stopping on a stair. She now had a height advantage as she was on a stair that made her taller than Callie.

"You are... but if you rather me call you hot, I can do that too." Callie looked up at the blonde and glanced at her lips.

Arizona took a deep breath and watched how the Latina's demeanour was trying to change. She pointed her finger towards Callie, "No. There will be none of that."

"What?" Callie looked back up into the blonde's eyes.

"The flirting." Arizona squinted her eyes slightly, letting the Latina know she wasn't falling for it. "I know your game, Calliope Torres."

Callie laughed, "You have no idea.. and why do you call me Calliope?"

Arizona shrugged, "Because you're my friend, and that's your name."

"Well, if I'm your friend.. then you'll come to that get-together I'm having on Friday." The Latina smiled.

"Dammit." Arizona made a face as she was caught in her words. She decided to walk past Callie down the stairs to avoid further conversation.

"Are you actively trying to avoid me outside of the hospital?" Callie followed the blonde down the stairs.

"Maybe." Arizona shrugged.

"Arizona.."

The blonde ignored her and continued down the flight of stairs. But she was suddenly stopped as Callie pulled her by the arm and pushed her against the wall.

"Arizona." Callie held the blonde's wrists, making the smaller woman look into her eyes.

"Callie." Arizona breathed.

Callie thought she would take a chance because Arizona looked at her with what looked like want. The Latina didn't want to hold back anymore, so she leaned in a brushed her lips against the pink lips.

When Arizona didn't pull back, Callie reached up to cup the blonde's jaw and deepen the kiss.

Their lips were moving slowly against each other. Eyes were closed, and the taste of exploring each other's mouths was overwhelming for both women. They had wanted this since the last time they kissed each other back in Cleveland.

The blonde felt herself melt into Callie's embrace. She let her hands rest on Callie's hips and smiled as the brunette explored her mouth. Her tongue felt like velvet, and Arizona was getting lost in Callie's touch.

Callie pulled back as she needed air. She leaned her forehead against the blonde's, "Come on Friday.. ok?" She whispered breathlessly.

Arizona's eyes opened slowly, and she hummed in response. "I will think about it.."

"Good," Callie smirked, knowing the blonde wouldn't decline her offer.

She stepped backwards and opened the door to the first floor. "Goodnight, Chief. I'll see you later."

"Goodnight, Dr. Torres.." Arizona took a deep breath. She wondered what just happened. How did Callie do that to her? Why didn't she stop it? Why did Arizona want it to happen again?
