LeoniusDong: don't worry, they'll be plenty of Dumbledore ass kicking throughout the story. My Dumbledore isn't going to be "intentionally created Voldemort to increase his fame" level, but he will be "the ends justify the means no matter how catastrophic for the greater good witch may only be my greater good(haven't decided which)".
Jsp986: I know, the reasons I did it were: 1. I needed an explanation that wasn't either super evil Dumbledore, or paper thin like wanting to be able to invite people over without leaving the house or putting the secret on a piece of paper that could be stolen. And 2. I wanted to set up a almost likable Peter for later, forced through his own cowardice to betray his friends, and everyone he ever held dear while stuck obeying the same dark lord who killed them. I decided to remove the contract.
Guest: considering how it took me around two months of writing info dump chapters for war of tragedy war of sorrow before I got to the actual first contact, that probably won't be a problem. I'm probably not going to get to the actual books until my schoolwork taking up all my time is replaced with my camp work (proud member of valley mill camp staff speaking) takes up all my time, or even later.
Potter Keep, November 4th, 1988
Harry stared at the wraith in shock, then anger. He shouted "You are family, you are family and you left me with the Dursleys! Why didn't you take me, why did you let me suffer!?" Tears begin to form in Harry's eyes.
Helena was shocked at the reaction, but that shock soon turned into confusion "Dursleys? Who are the Dursleys?" Then she remembered a minor, long forgotten conversation with Lily when she was crying like Harry about explicitly being not invited to her sister's wedding where the name came up "Lily's sisters family? What were you doing with those muggles?!" Her confusion and indignation were evident in her voice.
Harry began to tell her all he knew, of how he believed his parents died, of how his aunt and uncle told him that they were a worthless drunk and a disgraceful whore respectively, of the nightmare that was his life, of how he didn't know his name till he started school, how he was beaten and yelled at and mistreated and how no one ever tried to help him. By the end of it all Harry was weeping on the floor, and Helena was filled with pure rage. The rage almost consumed her until she saw the weeping form of her descendants.
She moved closer to Harry and hugged him. The hug gave Harry a unusual sensation, the touch was hollow, as if being held by clouds, but a warmth came with it that surpassed even the warmth he gained when he entered the wards of the Potter's land. "Don't worry, young one. They may never hurt you again, you are safe here and forever will be." She said in a calm and soothing voice that made Harry feel as if all his worries and anguish and sorrow were in the past, never to return.
Harry wiped the tears off his cheeks and asked "Why did you never search for me?" in a quiet voice, almost a whisper
"Since my son died, the keep has been in lockdown, no one could enter and no one could leave. Only the heir or lord of the most noble and ancient house of Potter could enter and with your father losing the chance of ether title after he gave the cloak to that bumbling Light Lord, only you could control the keep. It prevented many attempts to tamper with or claim the keep for many years, but it stopped me from learning of what happens in the outside world." Helena said , she then gave harry a soft smile, and said "You must be famished, with all that has happened to you and all those days on the run. It's slightly late for dinner but I'm sure I can get the elves to cook something up."
Harry was slowly guided to the dining room as Helena moved swiftly to her chambers, with Harry now here, the lockdown had been lifted, giving her the chance to contact the outside world for the first time in a decade, and learn what the hell happened that lead to a Potter being raised by muggles.
Later
Helena entered her bedroom, though the bed had been gone for the better part of a century when it became too much of a waste of space, considering her lack of need of it. She stopped for a moment, remembering something, and said to the house self who had been by her side, all these years"loopy, could you grab one of our guests from the dungeon, I am in need of a body."
The ancient house elf, a gift for her 5th birthday who had stayed by her side since the beginning said "yes mistress" and aperated to the dungeon. Moments later he reappeared with a woman, her tattered death eater robes and unkept hair only emphasizing her hollow eyes, the mind that once dwelled within long lost from isolation.
With not even a moments hesitation, Helena possessed the broken death eater, destroying what little was left of the sycophant who murdered countless innocence for her Lord, and replacing it with herself.
Taking a moment to look at her new body, she asked Loopy "wand" and soon received her ancient tool, Yew, springy, 14 1/4 inches, with a runespoor heartstring core. With a quick movement of her wand she changed, not only her clothing, but her new body, shifting it into the form her original had been in when she first gained her immortality on the banks of the river Somme, it's water filled with the blood of a million muggles which she used for her own purposes. Her hair turned from the bright blonde that was indicative of the Noble and Elder house of Forrestal to a lighter vibrant brown. Her skin turned from the unhealthy shade that formed in captivity to a darker shade, though still light by most standards. She lost 3 inches of height, becoming 5 foot and 2 inches.
Her clothing turns into a magnificent blue and silver dress. She stares at her bracelet for a moment before putting a glamour on it, making it appear to be silver, not daring to attempt to transfigure the artifact that binds her to this world.
She stops for a moment to admire her original form, before thinking for a moment of the first times she held her darling children and says "Expecto Patronum "
From her wand a ghostly raven appears, and she said to it "Helena Potter has returned, Brian O'Neill, and you shall heed my call. The password for the floo has not changed, I expect you within the hour" and send it off to it's predetermined recipient, only stopping in its journey to ensure that no others will hear It's message.
it was less than 20 minutes later when the fireplace lit with brilliant green flames and a plump man entered the room. Helena originally met Brian O'Neill 50 years ago when his grandfather, one of her previous classmates and chief contacts for purchasing rare tomes or information, introduced her to him when he was just 15 with the intent of Brian being his replacement. Brian spent five years as her primary contact after his grandfather died in a death eater raid. Now, almost a decade since her imprisonment, she calls for him again in order to learn what has occurred in the outside world.
"My lady" Brian says "It is good to see you after all these years. From what I understand of your families wards, you being able to contact me means you have the boy-who-lived within your possession, am I correct in that assumption?"
"Boy-who-lived, what are you talking about?" Helena asks in confusion.
"Harry Potter, of course. Seven years and a few days ago the Potters were attacked by he-who-must-not-be-named. James and Lily died, but when the Dark Lord tried to kill Harry Potter he was instead vanquished. Since that day, Harry has been a hero to the wizerding world, though no one knows where he is. Dumbledore has claimed he put him in a safe place until he is of age to go to Hogwarts." Brian says to the shock of Helena.
Helena shock then turns to rage as she shouts "What right does Dumbledore have deciding the fate of a Potter?!"
Brian cowered from the rage of a woman 8 inches shorter than him, but infinitely more powerful " The Potters will made him third in line after Harry's godparents for custody, and with Alice being incapacitated and Sirius being in prison for his crimes, he took custody."
These words did not decrease Helena's rage, but increased it "The house charter states that no one without recent Potter blood can take regency over the house without the previous lords explicit permission in their will!"
"But he does have permission" Brian says "He was able to convince the wizendgamot that being given guardianship was implied consent for him to hold the regency."
"But James never was Lord of the house, meaning that guardianship would have been given to his closest blood relatives, the Bones' through my daughter." Brian was shocked by this previously unknown (or silently buried) information.
Realization came over Brian and he said "Dumbledore's been using the Potter votes and Harry's fame to increase support for the progressive light faction like Malfoy has been using the Black votes, Most Noble and Ancient houses have a lot of votes themselves and many smaller houses unify behind them. The war has significantly decreased the traditionalist light factions power while the house of Black moving to the progressive after Malfoy took regency after Lord Black's death, which in itself, was under strange circumstances that were never investigated, probably at great expense to Malfoy, and a great fattening of the ministers vault, has decreased the traditionalist dark factions power." This revelation increased Helena anger tenfold.
Helena thought for a few moments before saying "Bring me the current head of house Bones."
Brian acknowledged this and went back to the floo, disappearing in green flames, leaving Helena to contemplate all that had gone wrong since her imprisonment and the old man who caused many of the problems.
To explain the wizengamot I have created has five factions: traditionalist light, traditionalist dark, progressive light, progressive dark, and neutral.
The dark factions are more magical supremacist while the light factions are more human supremacist. The progressive factions on reality just those seats under the direct or indirect control over their Dumbledore or Voldemort/the death eaters. The traditionalist factions are everyone else. The traditionalists are generally significantly less polarized on issues than the progressives.
The neutral faction has 2 subtractions : those who have a mixture of views between the light and dark factions (like Umbitch who is playing bigotry bingo by hating everyone who is not a magical human and several other people with mixed ideologies that I wouldn't like to see in excruciating pain like the potters used to be before Dumbledore moved them to the progressive light faction), those who see their seats and votes as a business opportunity, and will vote for whoever "persuades" (gives them beneficial business deals or outright bribes) them the best.
