Bella's out fit: cgi/set?id-89517137
After a very long night of tossing and turning I decided to get a lift in with Jimmy to work. Even if it did mean going in early. It was now a month since the under cover mission and just my luck my face was scarred. It wasn't noticeable unless you stared at me. And Lets be honest who would do that. I covered it with make-up but the fact that I knew it was there still bugged me. Of course Tony blamed himself for not stepping in sooner. But it was my fault. I hadn't heard any more from the Cullens. But I know they all know I'm here and wouldn't be surprised if the second Alice and Jasper got home Edward read their mind or she shouted it and they all started packing and left the next day. That was another thing being with the M.C.R.T means I have got over my fear of their names. I am no longer upset. At least not so much.. No now I'm angry I still love Edward. Probably always will. Who can compare to the Greek God of a vampire. But at least I'm willing to try. Even if I have to get Abby to do background checks on them.
At the moment I'm sitting on one of the autopsy tables one leg crossed over the other at the knee. I had a black vest top on and a blue skirt that had black buttons on going down it. I had learnt my lesson and as a result had black shorts on underneath. On my right wrist rested gold and black bangles. I had black sandals that buckled up round my ankles and had a gold strap across the tops of my toes. I had black triangle earrings in. on the bed beside me sat my black blazer and my black shoulder bag. Ducky and Jimmy were in the usual scrubs. Jimmy was stood to the side washing some of their equipment whilst Ducky was sat at his desk telling me a story about when he was a boy and how he did just fine with out technology.
"Bella, it's 8:25. We might want to head up." Jimmy said interrupting Ducky's story.
"Ah. Yes. Jethro might not appreciate me stealing his agents." I giggled slightly getting of the table and putting my blazer on.
"You'll have to finish the story another time then Ducky," I said picking up my bag and putting it on my shoulder, "But until then. Good day Ducky." I nodded to him.
"Good bye Doctor." Jimmy said before we both left. Getting into the elevator my mind couldn't help but wonder what we would be doing today. Jimmy got off first considering he had a dentist appointment, I continued up to the bullpen. As I stepped of the elevator and made the small walk to the bullpen I heard Gibbs ask,
"And number two is what?"
"You know, I was a little fuzzy on two." he said
"Always wear gloves." I said sitting down at my desk and unlocking my bottom draw putting in my handbag and pulling out my gear. Gibbs was getting his badge and Gun out. I noticed a cup on my desk, guessing from the fact it was still hot, Gibbs had got it for me on his last coffee run. Which he probably only just got back from.
"Very good Swan. Good answer but I have an even better question. Why are you late?" Tony asked walking over to my desk and sitting on the edge.
"Bella couldn't have been late when she arrived here at 7:30. Grab your gear. We're going Quantico."
As we all made are way to the elevator Tony grabbed my arm to stop me.
"Bella what would you say my butt was on a scale of 5." Blushing I replied
"Why do you want to know?"
"Just rate it please. Then I'll tell you." He pleaded. I just pulled out of his grip and walked to the elevator were Gibbs was glaring at Tony for holding us back. As we got out of the elevator I turned to Tony.
"A two." I said before walking over to the car
"A two? How come everyone says I'm a two. " he cried from behind me.
I turned around "I took three points off for excessive hair." I told him honestly before turning around and getting into the back, sliding in to the middle. Tony got in on my left as McGee got in on my right.
"I don't have – that's a five." Tony said gesturing downwards.
I started laughing. "Only if you Shave." Tony's face made me and McGee laugh harder.
We were walking through the trees to the place the legs had been found. I had left my blazer in the car and switched to my NCIS jacket. It might have been a woods so I saw no point in putting on restricting trousers on. Even If I knew what Gibbs was going to ask me to do. There was a Marine leading us to the Crime Scene. Followed by Gibbs and Tony, who had the orange carry gurney. Then it was Ziva, me, Ducky and McGee at the back.
"Marines run tactics through these woods every day, Sir." The Marine told us.
"What time yesterday?" Gibbs asked.
"Nineteen hundred." he said sparing us a glance.
"Ducky, Bell, Where's Jimmy?" Tony asked after having to switch the hands the board was in.
"Dentist." I replied not wanting to take my eyes off of the trail. I knew the second that I did I would fall over.
"Having a root canal." Ducky added. "Allow me." he said coming up next to me and holding a branch back for me and Ziva to get past.
"Thank you." we chorused I heard the branch whip back not 3 seconds before I hear Tim sarcastically say "Thank you."
We walk a bit more before reaching a log to get over, "Oh, watch your step." he said helping Ziva over.
"Toda." she said to him
"Al lo davar." he replied before turning to help me over.
"Caballero." I said. Obviously I hadn't got that far in teaching him yet as Ducky just nodded his head. "Gentleman." I said as we reached a river
"Oh, let me give you a hand." he said going over to Ziva and trying to take her hand,
"No, no, no." she said, pulling her hand back. "It's lovely that chivalry is not dead, Doctor. But in the Army, I swam three miles across the Red Sea after scaling rough cliffs without safety lines." she put her hands on either sides of his face "I believe I can manage." she tapped his nose before turning to the rocks. "Oh!" She took one step before falling. Ducky leapt forward to try to steady her and ended up getting pulled in.
"Ah!" I bet Gibbs and Tony could hear their screams from the crime scene.
"How refreshing." Ducky said as they sat up "An independent woman." the two of them laughed before standing up. "Right then Isabella. Give me our hand." Ducky said offering his hand. I gratefully took it. Ziva jumped over the rocks to the other side.
"Bells can't walk on a flat surface. And I don't think Ducky wants another swim." she teased. After very nearly swimming a few times we made it across the stones rather quickly. We arrived to here the marine still talking about the 'body'.
"They were under this bush here, until I…uh… moved one to here." gesturing from the bush to the leg where it lay.
"The teenagers?" Gibbs asked taking a photo with his small silver camera.
"Said they never noticed the legs." he told us.
"Tony, shoot. Ziva, bag and tag. McGee, samples." He said turning round to look at me, "Bells, do your thing." he said, gesturing to the clearing.
"Got it." I said. Tony and McGee sent me looks as if to say 'in-that-skirt'. I winked at them before moving to the tree directly opposite the bush the legs were under. And started climbing. It started a 2 weeks into being at NCIS. Gibbs told me to get a bird's eye view sketch of the crime scene I sarcastically replied 'How should I do that climb a tree.' of course Gibbs said yes so I replied 'How about I profile our unsub as well.' he shoot me a disbelieving look but yes. So I did and when we caught the murderer and he fit my profile Gibbs told me to do it at every crime scene. I didn't but no one minded as long as we caught the guy.
I was sat in the corner of Abby's lab. This was the area I did my profiles. I used the walls to tack the pictures up and from there I just thought and brainstormed. I once did it up stairs using the walls surrounding Gibbs' desk but Tony made fun of me so he moved me to Abby's lab. Then Chip came and well... I don't know I just stopped coming down here. He kind of creeped me out.
"It's an evidence showcase showdown, Chip." I didn't have to turn around to see Chip following Abby around with a confused face "What do you prefer? Possible prints, sticky stuff, or name that blood?"
"Uh… well, I aced serology. I was a dilettante with fingerprint identification… so …" Chip stuttered.
"Name the sticky stuff for a hundred, Chip." Abby said in a monotone voice. Obviously she didn't like her assistances rambling.
I was walking into the bullpen to tell them my Profile to see Ziva standing behind Tim with an open book in her hands.
"For a Caucasian female, a factor of two point nine oh is multiplied by the tibia length." She said, I sat on the edge of Tony's desk sharing a look with him.
"Okay, autopsy report says tibia is thirty-eight point three four centimetres." Tim said before typing at his computer.
"What are you doing?" I finally asked.
"We are calculating our Jane Doe's probable height and weight." McGee said sparing us a look.
"Why didn't you ask us?" Tony asked
"Tony, these are complex equations we're dealing with. And Bella was busy."
"Whatever. She was what –" Tony said sharing a look with me
"Five eight." we said together
"So she's like a hundred and twenty-five," I said,
"Hundred twenty six pounds." he said as we shrugged "Hey…" he said into the phone and started to speak to the states morgue to see if any body's had been brought in with no legs.
"Okay. One eleven point one-eight six for adipose. Density of musculature…" Tim said inputting more numbers into his computer.
"Let's add sixty-one point five three." Ziva said looking down at her book
"One seventy-two point seven two centimetres for height." I tapped Tony on his shoulder and nodded to the duo.
"Ducky estimates fifty-seven point zero eight kilograms in weight." Ziva said shutting her book.
"Converting to imperial… and we're done." the computer made a beep and the duo's faces turned to looks of pure shock.
"She's five foot eight." Ziva said in disbelieve
"One twenty-five and a half pounds?" Tim said in a similar tone.
"Hold on a second." Tony told the person and looked over to the duo and put on his best innocent smile.
"Any way..." I said sliding of Tony's desk as Gibbs came round the corner. "With out a full body I'm limited with what I can profile but I got that it's a he. He probably has deep-seated psychological problems and commitment issues. Probably tends to date a lot, objectifies women and tends to treat them as sexual objects. Probably bit the women because he's angry, and immature and likes control"
"Basically Tony's twin then." Ziva said.
"You're grumbling." I was back in Abby's lab. Gibbs had sent me back here to see if she had anything and she didn't so I have to wait till there is. Chip and Abby were stood with their backs towards each other.
"Well, I know. I can't read Ziva's writing." Chip said putting his pen in this mouth.
"Here." I said opening my hand on the other side of the table so he passed it over. "It looks perfectly clear to me." I said passing it back with an apologetic face. "You've got to loosen up, Chip." Abby said punching him in the arm, "Evidence is fun. Fun. You know, fun? Fun, Chip!" she said jumping in a circle "You're a tough case, Chip."
"Yeah, I know." Chip nodded.
"Gibbs! All this evidence and a CAFF-POW! Is it my birthday?" Abby said as Gibbs came in and gave Abby a CAFF-POW! And gave me a cup of coffee.
"Pretend it's mine." Gibbs said.
"Okay, here's what I have for you." she said moving to her computer.
"Are you all right?" I whisper-asked Chip.
"I'm fine Bella." He whispered back with a small smile.
"The blood on the calf is different from the victim's. I sent both off for processing. But here's your real gift. I found a smudged print on the tip of the glove finger and clarified it into a partial print. Happy birthday." she said
"Get a match?" he asked ever impatiently, walking in front of the computer towards the big screen.
"It's running through AFIS now." Abby said proud of her self.
The computer started beeping and an unexpected face turned up.
"Whoa."
"No. That ain't right." I said moving over to Gibbs.
"Bells. Go get the others." Gibbs instructed, "Run!" he prompted when I didn't move. And run I did. Running up the stairs and in to the bullpen did get me funny looks. But I didn't care.
"Belly." Tony said as I ran in, standing up in concern.
"Needed in Abby's lab now! Very important." I told him before bending over with a stitch.
"God. So many stairs." I grabbed is hand and dragging him to the stairs. Ziva and Tim following.
"Bella, Elevator." Tim said pointing to the elevator.
"No time." I said pulling Tony by the hand down the stairs, Ziva and Tim following. Arriving at the lab I noticed the tension had risen so much you could cut it with a knife.
"What's so important the Bella just dragged me down the stairs at light speed?" Tony asked. Normally I would have blushed and said sorry but at the moment her was being framed for murder. And I knew he was being framed.
"That DiNozzo." Gibbs said grabbing his shoulder and dragging him to the screen which still had his ID card on.
"I must have ripped a glove at the scene, Boss." Tony said shrugging. Abby shoot him a look before instructing Chip to grab the red and white hazard box, where we put all the waste we use at the scene. Gloves, contaminated swabs and pieces of paper with our finger prints or DNA on them.
Tony quickly counted the gloves. All 10 of them still intact. Abby stepped back and crossed her arms, giving Tony 'the look'.
"Like I was saying, I must've ripped a glove at the crime scene sometime before yesterday." Tong shrugged
"When was the last time you worked a crime scene at Quantico?" Gibbs asked walking from the big screen to the computer screen.
"Napalitano case, Boss." Tony said. You could tell this was starting to settle on him as his normal cheery self was damper then usual.
"The computer only found three points from your fingerprint to the sample. Most prosecutors want eleven." Abby said looking at the flashing green dots on the computer screen.
"Well, technically, Abby, the minimum to go to court is one." Chip said Gibbs and Abby gave him looks as Tony just stared at him.
"Well, he has a point, you know, people have been convicted on less." I said backing him up.
"Well, that's great, Chipper, Belly. Team players." Tony said in a grumpy voice.
"I'm going to redo this by hand." Abby decided before tapping away at her computer.
A few minutes later the computer beeped again with the same results.
"You set this up, didn't you?" Tony said pointing at Ziva but for a second I saw a panicked look on Chip's face.
"I would never….okay, maybe I would, but I didn't." she replied but I didn't take my eyes off of Chip.
"It matches Tony." Abby said resignedly. Tony didn't say anything but walk over to the big screen.
Chip looked over and saw me staring. He walked over and stood by me.
"You ok?" he whisper-asked as I looked down and blushed.
"Fine." I whispered.
"Put a rush on those blood samples." Gibbs said
"I did. But it's a sixteen hour turnaround." Abby said eyes never leaving Gibbs as he walked over to Tony
"Make it twelve." he said turning to Tony "When's the last time you were at the dentist?" before taking out his mobile.
I leaned onto Chip to hide my laughter as I watched Tony get a plastic mould stuck into his mouth. Chip put his arm around me. Which was unusual as Chip would normally push me away if I happened to fall over something (usually air) and land on him.
"Hold still." Ducky said as Tony started moving.
"Cooon't yooo haaa uuuued my een-al ray-corss?" which I guess was 'Couldn't you have used my dental records?'.
This is far faster and more accurate than your x-rays." pulling the mould out of his mouth as Tony started to make faces.
"You're not known for your bedside manner, are you there, Duck?" his lips still pulled back. Like a duck.
"You're just upset that I didn't have peppermint. McGee." Tim moved forward from his place next to Ziva, who was also trying not to laugh,
"Here's Tony!" Abby said as the 3-D image appeared on-screen.
"The program uses laser scans of 3-D objects to create 3-D images for comparison."
"Computer generated hollow volume overlay. Measures inter-tooth spacing, dental arch, tooth thickness." Chip said earning us attention. I quickly stepped to the side and blushed looking to the floor. I looked up through my lashes, to see Ziva's indifferent face, Tony's and Tim's confused ones and Gibbs' and Ducky's amused ones. Abby hadn't seen us so was confused about the stares and not our positions.
"All right, enough of the geek speak." Tony said
"Here's Ducky's muscle tissue scan." Abby said pulling a picture of the bite up "A little 3-D magic for clarity. And I give you… the killer's incisors. Next step… and don't worry, Tony, the chances of even one of your teeth matching are like a hundred thousand to one."
"Do it, Abby." Gibbs prompted.
We watched as the jaw opened and sunk down on the 3-D picture of the bite mark. We all had our fingers crossed that it wouldn't match. Unfortunately every tooth turned green with 'Match' written on them.
