A/N: Told you I would make it up to you!
Disclaimer: Nope- not mine. No sir, really not mine.
Kakashi, just like his mentor's wife (who really was more of a mother to him) enjoyed his days, spent with his student, in good humor. Laid back against a rock, he giggled at his book, but more at the frustrated youngling Uchiha before him. Honestly, there is nothing more amusing that ruffling his favorite chick's feathers and joyously evading his sharp tongue and kunais.
He has just introduced his lovely piece of art to Sasuke and the boy took quite a liking to it, even going as far as to aim at the rock Kakashi claimed as his own.
"Now, Sasuke-kun, what would your mother say if you accidentally maimed your sensei?" He nonchalantly said, side stepping the Chidori easily and turning a page in his book. Sasuke's glare told stories; stories that were mostly about if successful, his mother or anybody wouldn't need to know what really went down this day. Kakashi smiled, not that Sasuke noticed.
"All righty!" The white haired man exclaimed after the fifth time Sasuke tried to electrocute him. "I believe you got your Lighting release covered for now. Remember, don't try to overpower Chidori, two is you maximum!"
The boy was muttering something in his chin, something that suspiciously sounded like murder plans. And as much as Kakashi defended his jutsu, he too knew Chidori wasn't a perfect assassination technique; for one, it was too loud to try it in the sneak attack.
"So I think we should move on to your Taijutsu. Tsk, tsk, you've been neglecting it for quite a while Sasuke-kun."
The boy's cheeks colored rose and he turned his head to the side sharply, refusing to say anything.
"Kakashi-senpai, if I may add."
The shadow atop of the rock spoke for the first time since it stationed itself there, about three hours ago. Kakashi turned his one eye towards his former ANBU kouhai, Itachi Uchiha. Sasuke, who only noticed his brother now ('How foolish Sasuke-kun, your senses are getting rusty'), started seething.
"Aniki! You're supposed to be with Naruto!"
Itachi's eyebrow rose, his expression failing to change with it.
"Naruto-kun is in capable hands outoto. I can hardly stalk him on your behalf currently."
Kakashi is certain the boy was foaming at the mouth by now.
"What?! Who the hell dares to… !"
"Yondaime-sama and Jiraya-sama left this morning, with Naruto-kun, to their secret training grounds."
"Ah.." Kakashi's input interrupted Sasuke's anger shout that threatened to deafen them.
"And that means you probably won't be seeing Naruto-kun until the third round, outoto." Sasuke's eyes widened to non-proportioned limits and Kakashi, for all his lack of tact, could see the beginnings of a panic attack. Sasuke clutching at his chest was just a tiny bit helpful to his observations.
"So, what did you have in mind Itachi-kun?" Itachi's lips quirked just a tiny bit.
"Water techniques."
Kakashi will admit, he fancied the thought of teaching Sasuke, who will be fighting against Gaara (and isn't water sand's ultimate nemesis?), some water based jutsu, but dismissed it, knowing how hard it would be to teach a mere genin manipulation of a third element, which even isn't his primary one.
Sasuke was still frozen solid in his stupor and after glimpsing at the sun, Kakashi reached a decision.
"How about this: You teach him water manipulation and some beginners' kenjutsu and I'll continue to work on his lightning release and make him flourish as a budding taijutsu?" Oh great, now he was beginning to sound like Gai.
A note to himself: avoid the green beast for a while.
The sadistic glimmer in Itachi's eyes that mirrored Kakashi's, told him everything he needed to know.
Itachi elegantly took his place beside his little brother, bringing a hand to Sasuke's shoulder. There was a small chakra influx and Sasuke woke up from his nightmare.
"Let us begin dearest outoto."
Sasuke had a bad, bad feeling in his gut. The last time Itachi used this tone on him was when he was teaching (read 'torturing') him the ways of Sharingan.
He still had mental trauma, and no doubt, he will have some fresh scars to compliment the old ones.
He managed but a whimper before he was swept away in a Fire Shunshin.
