Emily looked around as the four students showed her the way to Gryffindor Tower, the ghosts that been to Hogwarts did tell her of what the school was like in their time. Each ghost or spirit had something different to tell her, but it still didn't fully prepare for her for how old the castle was nor the moving portraits or paintings. There was a couple of times that the four did tell her to jump over a step for apparently would break or something, making it a trick step. There were Ghosts that did start come down their way and it was clear that they were giving a wide berth to them already when they noticed Arabella was among them. But as soon as the ghost saw Emily that the ghost would turn around and float back down the way that the ghost came from.
Emily was so close of laughing when each ghost she saw did that, when she learned there were ghosts here that she knew that they would give Arabella a wide berth. But it seems that the ghosts realize who Emily was and they decided to avoid her at all costs, of which amused Emily to no end. Emily has nothing personal against ghosts for she was used to having ghosts around her half of the time. But at the same time it was a bit annoying that there were ghosts no in the underworld. Though she has no plans of bringing any of them to the underworld for there was no real reason and it would be like setting a restart button in the wizarding world or to a certain extent.
It didn't take long for them to reach the Gryffindor tower, upon reaching the common room that the other Gryffindors had bunch of questions of who she was. She answered the questions to the best of her ability and made sure she implied that she was older than she looked but not as old as she was really. So Emily made sure she implied that she was in her thirties or close to it when they asked of how old she was. Emily didn't give them straight answer to that question for she felt it would be better to let them guess her age. She only did that because it amused her once of the magical world can be like the demigod world or the muggle/mortal world.
After about ten minutes of questions that Ron decided to teach her to wizard's chess when she admitted that she never played the game before. The seem to surprise the Gryffindors till she told them that they didn't have the game when she went to school and she wasn't informed that she was a witch till she was eleven. But she made it clear that her father was a wizard but he wanted to raise her in the muggle world to understand that world and thar she chose to live in the muggle world after she left school. So when Ron brought out the board and set it up that she was surprised when Ron called out a position and the piece moved to that position. Emily could feel some of the eyes on her as she looked at her pieces just as the knight called out to her.
"It would be better if you moved the pawn in front of …." That snapped Emily out of her slight daze and without much of a thought she once more went into Lieutenant USA mode.
"Are you telling me of what to do with my pieces."
"Yes … no."
"If I want advice, than I will ask for it. Till then I don't want you to tell me of what I should do." She could feel all eyes turning to her as she spoke to the knight of who looked utterly surprised but nodded none the less. Emily ordered one of her pieces to a position after five moves that Emily moved her final piece. Once the piece was in place that she spoke. "Checkmate." There was silence that followed, it was so quite that if a needle dropped that it could be heard though Ron recovered first.
"I thought you never played this game before?"
"I haven't but I have been in a muggle war and I gained the rank of Lieutenant. I seen battle as well as fought in many battles in the war. Wizard's chess is closer to what war is like as oppose to muggle chess. I have played muggle chess before and the only difference between Wizard's chess and muggle chess is the you have to move the pieces by hand as oppose to telling the pieces where to go."
After she said that, that Ron was determined to beat her, but Emily beat him so easily that some of the games could be considered a joke like when she won in three moves. There were some games of where most of their pieces were gone but even than Emily still beat him. The longer games was when Emily was trying hard to lose on purpose but her battle ready mind kept on coming back. After a hour of playing and losing about 50 games that it seem to sink in Ron's mind that Emily knew battle strategy and that she was better at it than he was. It seem to sink in better when she switched with Fred Weasley of who lost to Ron quickly, Emily switched again for Ron wanted to figure out her strategy but it seems that Ron couldn't figure it out.
It was during the time she was playing with Ron that the pieces learned to obey her and didn't question her on her orders. Despite that, Emily felt like she was a weak strategist and she knew why she felt like that, though it wasn't till she played Wizard's Chess that she realized of how good she really was. But she will still say that Steve was the better strategist than she was and she filled in any holes that she noticed in his plans. During the games that Emily did her best to have Ron think better as a battle strategist as oppose to a chess player. As a result that the games went on a little longer but despite that, Emily was still able to beat Ron easily. Soon it was time for the first years to go to bed, Emily promised to play some more wizard's chess with Ron but she also told him that she wasn't going to play the game all day long. Once the first years went to the dorms that Emily left through the portrait to go find Severus. It was just as Emily left though the portrait that Emily heard a shout from her left.
"Rachel!" Emily turned to her left as Severus walked over to her in what he usually wears, of which makes him look like an overgrown bat. Emily pointed that fact to Severus before but it seems like he never bothered to listen or even fix it since in Emily's opinion that it makes him look stupid or that he is trying to get blowed over by the wind. Emily barely noticed the other two people with Severus.
"Hi Severus. I assume you were looking for me right?"
"Yes. I assumed you went to Gryffindor Tower when grandfather told me that you were coming to Hogwarts. I was coming to show you where you will be sleeping. Also the headmaster and deputy headmistress wanted to meet you as well when I told them that you were Arabella's half sister and were to make sure to keep up with her other training."
Emily looked at the woman at Severus's right, the woman was in her sixties or seventies. She was tall and looked severe looking, in other words Emily wouldn't want to cross the woman if she was her teacher. Her expression was prim and her black hair was combed back into a tight bun, even though she has the prim expression and severe looking that there was a lively energy coming from her. The woman was wearing emerald green robes and a pointed hat that was cocked to one side, the woman spoke.
"I am Minerva McGonagall. I am the deputy headmistress, head of Gryffindor and Transfiguration teacher." Emily nodded.
"I am Rachel Blackthrone."
"So I assume while Arabella gets her last name from her mother that you have your last name from your father? That is assuming that you two share the same father as oppose to the mother."
Emily jerked her head to the other voice that spoke, Emily felt some panic as well as some relief. For the man on Severus's left was a man that she knew even though he aged unlike Emily since they last spoke, for it was none other than Albus Dumbledore. He was still tall and thin, he still has his beard but his heard and hair were silver instead of auburn like she last saw it. She wasn't sure if it was her mind playing tricks on her but it seems that this beard was longer, so long that the beard could be tucked into his belt. His nose was long and crooked, however it seem like it was a little more crooked than she remembers of which Emily figured that Albus had his nose broken at once more since she last saw him. His fingers were long, like she remembers and his eyes were still a brilliant soul piercing and sparkling shade of blue. His eyes still twirled with kindness and mischief, he was wearing half moon spectacles and purple robes.
"Yes, Arabella and I share the same father but we have different mothers. Arabella uses her mother's maiden name. I once used my mothers maiden name till I was married myself." Emily stared at Albus as he stared at her and he lowered his head and glass slightly, Emily knew what he was doing and allowed all of her memories forward. It didn't seem to take long for Albus to find what he was looking for, when he blinked that he looked like he wanted to say something but seem unable to find the words. Emily looked over at Severus. "Where am I sleeping?"
"Follow me! You are actually on the seventh floor." Emily followed Severus leaving Minvera and Albus standing near Gryffindor tower, Emily barely noticed Minvera entering to Gryffindor tower as she walked away. But she could feel Albus's eyes on her.
