Chapter 24

The good, the bad, and what was that?

Lynn walked up to the Hogwarts gates. She was extremely nervous at the possibility of working at the school. After receiving the letter, talking with her father, then with Sirius and Remus, she decided to see what the offer would be. It was unfortunate that Sirius was unable to reach Harry the night before to let him know what was going on. Lynn just hoped she didn't run into Harry before meeting with Headmaster Dumbledork. She really liked the name that Harry had given to the old man.

Her father, Ragnok, Sirius and Remus all thought it would be a good idea if she took whatever was offered. It would give them a second set of eyes in the castle and she agreed. Now that she had her Mastery in Potions she wasn't as attached to St. Mungo's as she was before. Her dream had been and still was to teach. Teaching at Hogwarts was just a bonus, the Salem Institute would have been nice but Hogwarts was supposed to be the premier school in the world.

From what Sirius and Remus told her, that was far from the case. Hogwarts had been slipping in the school rankings for the past few decades and needed new blood. Of course Sirius and Remus hadn't known that until they had looked through the original Hogwarts: A History that Harry had. Now she was being offered an interview with the school, maybe she could help it become what it once was. She was sure that Harry wouldn't have a problem with her teaching there.

Lynn was still working on her private research into the Quick Silver that Harry had given her. She was sure that she could make many breakthroughs with it but she also knew that eventually, years and years from now, that Hedwig would no longer be around to produce it. Harry had informed her that he was collecting the Quick Silver each month during the full moon and storing it for the future. She could only smile at the fact that the potions she came up with based on the Quick Silver would be worth a fortune and the raw Quick Silver would be worth even more as Harry was the only supplier. Harry told her that he didn't need the money and that the potions recipes she created would be hers and the Quick Silver would be given to those that showed a true need for it, like the werewolves.

The gates to the castle opened as she approached.

The following day Harry attended his classes as usual, after the weekend he had and the dust up with Hermione, he wasn't in the greatest of moods. Yes, Hermione's problem had been solved for now but he knew that without constant re-enforcement, Hermione would start to slip back in to old habits. There were other issues with Hermione but Harry really couldn't find the energy to care about them today.

Herbology class went by in a flash followed by his other classes. Hermione was quiet during the classes, but Harry could tell she was bursting at the seams to answer every question the professors asked because her hand would twitch whenever the class was asked a question. Neville was smirking all day at the way Hermione was acting and at the same time trying to cheer Harry up. He wasn't having much success though. He just couldn't get Harry's eyes to turn from dull green to their normal bright green. Harry had been in one of these moods before and he knew that Harry would pull out of it sooner or later. So Neville played interference between Harry and the two girls most of the day, he had Harry's back.

The day ended with Harry alone in the Founder's Tower. He had dinner there with Tula, avoiding the Great Hall again. After finishing the assignments that where handed out during class, Harry did some of his mundane studies for the classes Remus had assigned him before going through the first year spells, practicing them in the dueling area. By the time he fell into bed he was exhausted again.

Professor Flitwick checked in on Harry shortly before curfew, finding the boy sound asleep. With a smile and a nod to Tula who was in the corner of the room watching over her master, Flitwick returned to his quarters for a nightcap before settling in. He was worried about Harry; he could see all the signs that Harry was stretching himself too thin. Flitwick had no doubt about Harry's intelligence or maturity but the young man was still just that, young, eleven years old and with the weight of the world on his shoulders.

Amelia sat down at her desk in the Ministry dropping her head into her hands for a moment. It had been a long couple days and she still had a lot to do. She had several problems at the moment, Albus Dumbledore, Severus Snape, one Lord Harry James Potter, and Trelawney/Lockhart to name just a few. Harry really wasn't a problem but he was definitely making life interesting for the head of the DMLE. If this had been the old Ministry under Fudge, she knew for a fact that Harry would be facing charges of some kind. Fudge just didn't care about the law, only his own reputation and gold.

Trelawney and Lockhart were still being interrogated in the Ministry interrogation rooms. She couldn't set a date for their trials because they both still had charges piling up on them, the list was just that long. The only person, or thing, that she thought could have a longer list was Voldemort. Still neither of those two had killed anyone, unless you count the indirect deaths of James and Lily Potter and the tortures of Frank and Alice Longbottom. Yes, those were on Trelawney's list. The listening charms that Trelawney had placed everywhere were still being listed and removed. The Goblins were not happy to find out that there were some in Gringotts; the one outside Ragnok's office had the head goblin calling for Trelawney's head.

Lockhart wasn't in as much trouble as his accomplice, oh he was still in a world of hurt but if his solicitor played it right he could still avoid a long stay in Azkaban and only have to pay a fine and settle the lawsuit with Harry. His reputation was completely ruined; he would be homeless, broke, and a pariah on society. Azkaban would probably be better for him. Each count of unlawful Obviation cared a mandatory one thousand gallon fine and five days in Azkaban, right now he was at four hundred and eighty three counts or six and a half years. To top it off Lockhart had seven lawsuits filed against him, including Harry's.

Draco had come through for her like he said he would but Lucius Malfoy still escaped after a lengthy battle that saw two of her Aurors dead by killing curse and three in St. Mungo's in critical condition. Where Malfoy was now was anyone's guess. Amelia didn't think he would be stupid enough to remain in Britain. An order had been sent to Gringotts, locking down all of the Malfoy vaults and a general capture, dead or alive, order had been issued to every Ministry of Magic in the world, but there were many places in the world that the ex-Lord Malfoy could still hide.

Malfoy Manor had been searched again, this time including Malfoy's hidden floor. Curse and Ward breakers were brought in to dismantle all the magic in the Manor. Nothing else was found but they could tell that there had been some very dark objects there until recently.

As for Draco, he was back at Hogwarts in a private suit under Dumbledore's care. He was waiting on Sirius to make a final decision about being brought in to the Black family before returning to his classes. That had been the deal made between him and Sirius after Dumbledore had notified her of Draco's change of heart. She had then notified Sirius and played intermediator between the two as Sirius was not going to set one foot in the castle and risking falling into a trap set by Dumbledore.

Severus Snape had been transferred to St. Mungo's on Monday. The mind healers were still working on him. They had had to give him the Draught of Living Death to put him in a coma while they worked on identifying, recording, and removing all of the Compulsion charms he had on him. His mind was still broken and until the compulsions were removed they didn't know how to help him rebuild his mind. They did find the dark mark on his forearm, knowing what you have to do to earn that evil mark would most likely see Snape in Azkaban for the rest of his life, but… and this was a big but, did the Compulsion charms influence his taking the mark? That was the big question.

Amelie finally considered the parchment in front of her. Dumbledore's magical signature was all over the Compulsion charms. Once the healers had identified it and how it was masked they were quickly able to verify the signature. This just added to Amelia's already growing file on Dumbledore. If after the healers identified and removed all the compulsions from Snape, it was found that they lead to Snape taking the Dark Mark or any other crimes performed by Snape, Dumbledore would be standing trial for those crimes instead. Compulsion Charms were not the Imperious Curse but they still fell on the darker side of gray and the intent behind them made all the difference. Dumbledore was in deep water and Amelia suspected that he knew it.

A knock on her door pulled Amelia out of her thoughts. She called to whoever was there to enter. It was Minister Crabtree….

Sirius was sitting behind his grandfather's desk in Black Manor, across from him was his cousin Narcissa Black. He was looking down and re-reading the parchment he had just finished writing.

"Narcissa, I do not know what changed your son's attitude, I am still a little suspicious of him, but I will not hold the sins of the father against the boy. After what he did I am willing to accept him into the Black family. He is your responsibility; I have enough of my own right now. One mistake, just one and he will be forever banished from the Black family." Sirius spoke.

"I understand Lord Black" Narcissa replied.

Sirius nodded his head and handed the parchment over to his cousin after signing and affixing the Black Family seal to the bottom. Narcissa took the parchment and rolled it up. She would deliver it to Gringotts herself after writing to her son. Sirius pulled another blank parchment over in front of him and started writing again. After he finished he handed it to his cousin. "Deliver this to the Daily Prophet. It is the official announcement."

Narcissa took the parchment and stood ready to leave. She knew a dismissal when she heard one. She was raised a Black, Sirius was now Lord Black and she would respect his wishes. She knew he held the family power now and she wasn't going to push it. He had given her a small Manor not far from London, one of the Black family estates, plus a very handsome stipend from the Family accounts.

"Oh, Narcissa" Sirius spoke up before his cousin could leave the room. "Tell Draco to stay away from Lord Potter unless Harry makes the first move and that I expect him to live up to the Black family name. None of that Blood bigotry, if I hear that the word Mudblood has come out of his mouth he will not like the consequences. Teach him our ways Narcissa, the Black family way."

"Thank you My Lord Black" Narcissa bowed and left the room.

Sirius sat back in his chair as Arcturus Black stepped out of a shadowed corner of the room, his cane supporting him. "You did the right thing Sirius. The Black family cannot afford to lose blood right now. There are too few of us left. You will make the Family strong again, put us back where we rightfully belong. Follow your heart, put family first, and all will work out." Arcturus spoke with an old, gruff voice.

Sirius looked up at his grandfather; he knew he wasn't talking pureblood bigotry, just old money bigotry. Sirius could live with that. This was after all the Most Ancient and Noble house of Black. "I will be allying our house with the Potters. It is time we stepped out of our dark past and into the light." replied Sirius.

Arcturus nodded his head. "Young Lord Potter holds a lot of power Sirius, more than anyone has held since the time of Merlin. Teach him well and together you will be able to change the face of the wizarding world." Arcturus then turned to the door and left the room. He was off to his retirement home now.

Sirius left shortly after. Black Manor was empty for now, someday he hoped it would be full again, its halls full of laughter, not the screams of pain and suffering that the past was full of. "Lockdown" Sirius spoke as he left the Manor.

-oo00oo-

Tuesday morning Harry was feeling better. With double charms first, his favorite class, how could he not be in a better mood? As he sat down to breakfast with Neville, Susan, and Hermione, they could all tell he was doing better. Harry's bright green eyes were back to their normal vibrancy. About half way through breakfast, the mail started to arrive with the all-important Daily Prophet. Hedwig did her normal entrance; the students of Hogwarts now used to the Moon Owl's display, barely paid her any attention. Landing on Harry's shoulder she dropped the paper, it landing on Harry's plate of food.

"Hedwig!" Harry exclaimed. To everyone else in the Great Hall Hedwig just gave out a loud hoot and bark, in Harry's mind she was laughing. "You have spent way too much time around Sirius and Remus. You're supposed to be on my side." Harry said out loud for his friends to hear.

Another hoot and bark from Hedwig as she took to the air, her wing just barely missing Harry's head. Harry's eyes had turned yellow as he yelled after his familiar. "I will get you Hedwig. Just you wait!"

Harry turned back to his ruined breakfast a smirk on his face. Saying to the table in general "I will get her for this…" He then picked up the paper and looked at the headline. The failed raid on Lucius Malfoy had top billing, the article going over the aftermath. It made Harry sad that two people lost their lives but he knew it wasn't his fault or problem. He decided though that he would make a donation to the DMLE family fund to help out the family of the Aurors.

One of the smaller articles on the front page caught his eye. It was the announcement that Draco no-name had been reinstated in to the Most Ancient and Noble house of Black and was now Draco Black. Harry wasn't sure if what his Godfather did was the wises thing in the world but he was not the Head of the Black family, only the Heir Apparent and no one knew that except him, Sirius, Remus and the Goblins. He would talk to Sirius about it later to learn his reasoning.

As people were reading the paper the chatter in the room was increasing, especially at the Slytherin table. Harry knew he was being watched by a few members of that house, not just now but since the opening feast. A couple of the watchers openly showed loathing in their eyes but hadn't tried anything or said anything openly. Hogwarts watched all the students and Harry knew she would warn him if anything was being plotted against him.

The other group watching him was just showing curiosity, getting a feel for him as a Lord. That was the true Slytherin way, cunning. He was keeping an eye on them too but they would never know it. He knew he would be approached at some point about alliances and friendship some genuine, some not.

The thing about the Slytherin table that not many knew unless you were a pureblood from an old family or in Harry's case was told about by Sirius was that the students arranged themselves at the table by Family rankings. They then arranged by standing in Slytherin house and year group. It was an old custom that Slytherin himself had started except back then he did take muggleborns. They were treated fairly then, by order of Slytherin, and learned the wizarding customs from the other house members.

At that moment the doors to the Great Hall opened and Draco Black walked in. He was back in his expensive robes with the Slytherin crest and the Black family crest on them. He wasn't showing the same arrogance as before. He was holding his head up high but not with his nose in the air. As he passed Harry on his way to the Slytherin table he gave a slight nod of his head. Harry as was custom gave a slight nod back but not so much that anyone not looking would notice it.

Draco took his place at the head of the table as was his right being a member of a Most Ancient and Noble house as everyone at the table shift down to make room, Marcus Flint did not look happy but as was custom he moved being only an ancient family not yet noble. His family had been up for vote in a few years but with the last war they lost their chance after dropping out of good standing.

-oo00oo-

Up at the head table Dumbledore watched the unfolding events with a lighter heart. He had helped a student that was heading down the wrong path find the light. As breakfast was ending he stood from his place behind the head table and waited for the students to notice. It didn't take that long after he cleared his throat.

"Good Morning everyone, I have a couple of announcements this morning. First, I regret to inform everyone that Professor Snape's illness was more sever then we first thought. He has been taken to St. Mungo's for treatment but it is not likely that he will be returning this term. We all hope he makes a speedy recovery and can return to teaching as soon as possible." Dumbledore paused.

"Now, I would like to introduce your new Potions professor. She recently obtained her Potion Mastery by finding the thirteenth use for Dragons Blood and is a graduate of the Salem Witches Institute. I would like you all to give a warm Hogwarts welcome to Professor Stuart." At that moment Lynn Stuart walked into the Great Hall from a side chamber next to the Head table. She had a beautiful smile on her face and was waving to all the students.

Harry jumped up from his table and started clapping, Neville and Susan a second behind him. Hermione took a second longer but stood and started clapping as well. The rest of the hall followed suit, the Gryffindor table becoming the loudest as it dawned on them that Snape was gone. The Slytherin table politely clapped but no one stood up.

"Yes, yes, everyone, that was a most enthusiastic welcome." announced Dumbledore. "I have one more announcement then you all should start heading to your morning classes. Professor Sinistra will be taking over as Head of Slytherin house. Make sure she is shown the proper respect." Dumbledore was pointedly looking at Slytherin house. The students of Slytherin house started clapping again being led by Draco who was standing.

"Now off to class." announced Dumbledore. Dumbledore turned to the side door to head to his office but was stopped before he could take more than a couple steps.

"P-P-P-Professor Dum-Dumbledore," Stuttered Professor Quirrell.

Professor Dumbledore turned to the DADA professor. He had left the Great Hall just after the mail arrived, Dumbledore remembered. "Yes Professor Quirrell?"

"C-c-could y-you c-c-cover m-my c-cla-classes to-today? I re-received an ur-urgent m-mes-message a-and nee-need to l-l-leave-leave the C-Castle." Quirrell stuttered out his request.

Dumbledore gave Quirrell a piercing glance but with everything else going on, he just didn't want to argue with the stuttering professor.

"Yes Professor I would be happy to cover for you. I do have several other things on my desk though. I believe you have a free period first this morning?"

"Ye-yes, H-Headmaster."

"Very well, please return as soon as you can Professor." Dumbledore replied.

"Y-y-yes, H-He-Headmaster, I-I w-will be b-b-back t-this e-e-evening."

Quirrell quickly turned and exited the Great Hall through the side door. Dumbledore stared after him for several moments wondering what he was up too. He still had suspicions that Quirrell was possessed by Voldemort but he still didn't have any proof. He was worried that if Quirrell was possessed that he would be a great danger to Harry, especially with all of the revelations in the past couple weeks. The stone was safe and he didn't have a way to trap Voldemort now that the third floor had been dismantled. 'Is it worth the risk to the students? I have risked too many people's lives in the past. No the risk is to great now. I must know though." Dumbledore thought to himself. A new plan formed in his head to get the answer then remove the threat.

-oo00oo-

If there was one good thing Harry could say about Albus Dumbledore it was that he was a great teacher, he held the room on the edge of its seats. Defense that afternoon had been enlightening to say the least. Dumbledore had not tried to single Harry out or play any games. He taught the entire class more in that one double period then Professor Quirrell had so far and Harry figured it would tally up to at least twenty more class with Quirrell.

"Good afternoon class, let's see, we have Gryffindor and Slytherin, first years." The Headmaster looked around the room then nodded. "Everyone is here I see."

"Now who can tell me the difference between Light and Dark magic? … Anyone?" he looked around the room. Harry was at the back of the class having not expected the Headmaster to be teaching. He liked to keep his distance from Professor Quirrell. Ron Weasley tentatively put his hand up.

"Mr. Weasley?" Dumbledore asked.

"Light magic is for good and Dark magic is evil." Ron answered. Dumbledore gave a slight nod to Ron before replying. "That is partly true Mr. Weasley, but not quite the answer I was looking for. Anyone else?"

Harry raised his hand.

"Lord Potter?" The Headmaster acknowledged him.

"There are actually three categories of magic, light, gray, and dark. Most magic falls into the gray area. There are very few spells or rituals that fall into the Light or Dark magic categories. While light magic is considered good and dark magic is considered evil they share one thing in common, emotion. Both true light and true dark magic require an emotional component to the casting. Light spells requires love or happiness, while dark spells require hate and the want to cause harm. Everything else is gray and only the intent of the caster can be considered good or evil, light or dark." Harry answered.

"Thank you Lord Potter, that was absolutely correct. Can anyone give me an example of a light, gray, and dark spell?"

Draco raised his hand this time. Dumbledore pointed to him. "Mr. Black?"

"The Killing Curse is a Dark spell." Draco answered. Harry raised his hand again.

"That is correct Mr. Black. Lord Potter?"

"The levitation charm would be considered gray as it only requires intent. The Patronis Charm is a light spell as it requires love as an emotional component. The current version of the Killing curse is Dark requiring hate as a component but it was not originally created with that and was gray at one time." Harry answered again.

Harry saw quite a few shocked expressions to his description of the killing curse. Ron looked like he was going to start yelling. Dumbledore smiled and gave the information a moment to sink in to the young minds. Harry was of course correct again.

"How can the killing curse not have been dark?" Ron blurted out.

"Lord Potter, do you care to explain?" asked Dumbledore

"The Killing Curse was originally created to be used in slaughter houses as a painless way to slaughter cattle, and other livestock; it would not work on humans. It was perverted in to its current Dark version by a Dark Lord in the early 5th century. The original Killing curse did not require an emotion component, only the intent to painlessly end the life of whatever beast was to be slaughtered." replied Harry.

"Twenty points to…" Albus paused. "…Slytherin Lord Potter. You are correct. In fact the original version of the killing curse is still in use by wizards on farms every day."

Harry wasn't called on again during that class. The Headmaster had forced the other students in the class to answer his question by randomly picking people. Harry had noticed that Draco just listened to his added reply to the Headmaster's question then got a thoughtful look on his face before taking notes on what Harry had said. It was a big change in Draco's attitude in Harry's opinion.

Harry had dinner in the Great Hall that night with his friends; the twins even join the table for a short time, made a few comments about pranks, which Hermione frowned at. Harry kept her from saying anything about it with a look. It was her other vise, Rules. During dinner a small brown owl swooped in and dropped a note on Professor Stuart's plate. He read the note then looked in the direction of the Founder Table and gave a nod.

After dinner Harry and friends went to the tower to relax for the evening. Twenty minutes or so after they got there Professor Flitwick walked in followed by Professor Stuart. Harry jumped up and ran to her, giving her a big hug. She was family to Harry considering everything her and Scott had done for him. Lynn returned the hug.

"Been taking your potions every morning Harry?" Lynn asked

"Yeah like, Tula wouldn't let me get out the door without taking them." Harry replied sarcastically

"Harry!" Hermione yelled "You can't talk to a professor that way." Harry spun around and looked at Hermione.

"There you go, jumping to a conclusion without all the facts again." Harry looked at her sternly. "Professor Stuart, Lynn, is my personal healer, very good friend, and is like family to me. So in the tower that is how I will treat her." Harry looked over his shoulder at Lynn, she nodded. Professor Flitwick was smirking.

"Hermione, what did we talk about?" ask professor Flitwick. Hermione looked down at her feet for a minute.

"I am sorry Harry. I shouldn't be so quick to jump to conclusions." Hermione looked up at Harry.

"It's okay Hermione, we all know that you mean well, that you are just following the school rules, and that you are a work in progress." Harry smirked at that last part.

Hermione smirked back at him. "Thanks Harry." Her voice was dripping with sarcasm. Neville and Susan then came over and greeted Lynn as well after which Hermione got formally introduced. Lynn was shown around the tower. After the tour she told Harry that if she didn't already have her own quarters she would have loved to move into the Hufflepuff rooms. She loved the colors. Unfortunately none of the other professors knew about her connection to Harry and that was the way they wanted it to stay for now.

-oo00oo-

It wasn't until Thursday that Harry had his first potion class with Professor Stuart. The rumors going around the school by students that had already had class with her were that she was brilliant, fair, and from the boys of the school, she was hot.

Rumor had it that there had only been one incident in her class so far. In the sixth year Slytherin/Gryffindor class, apparently Marcus Flint had asked her point blank what her blood status was since he didn't know of any purebloods named Stuart. The other students in the class were all shocked at his stupid question and at how un-Slytherin it was.

From what Harry heard, Professor Stuart walked straight up to Flint, grabbed his hand, turned it palm up and then sliced it open with the silver knife she had. Flint had screamed like a little girl. She flipped his hand back over and let some blood drop on Flints work table. She then did the same thing to her own hand, letting the blood drip on the table as well.

"Mr. Flint" she addressed him. "Look at our blood on the table. Do you see a difference in it?" she asked him. "I will not tolerate pureblood bigotry in my classroom," she informed the entire class. "Well Mr. Flint, do you see a difference?" She then grabbed Flint's hand again, healing it with her wand.

The rumor was that Flint got a detention with his Head of House for being an idiot and that he was going around saying Professor Stuart was a pureblood because no mudblood would have ever done that to a pureblood. Harry just shook his head at the rumors, he would have consulted Hogwarts's book but Flint wasn't worth the time or effort to get the book out. He was sure Lynn would tell him about it if any of it was true.

Harry was early to the class room so stood outside the door. It wasn't long before the first year Slytherins and a few of the Gryffindors arrived as well. He spotted Draco toward the back of the group just as Draco spotted him and gave him a nod. Harry returned it.

When the last of the Gryffindor students arrived, Ron Weasley was in the lead, chatting with Dean Thomas. "You hear about that Slytherin, Flint? They are all evil I tell you." Several of the Slytherin students turned scowling eyes in his direction. Harry just shook his head and pretended to ignore Ron. He had heard it a few time come out of the boys mouth before or after a class that Gryffindor and Slytherin shared.

As bigoted as the dark pureblood houses were against muggleborns, half-bloods, and the so called blood traitors, the light side, of which Ron was supposedly a part of, was just as bigoted.

Mr. Crandall had explained to Harry that the western and far eastern countries didn't have the same problems that England and Europe had with pureblood bigotry. They had their own issues but nothing like this. Harry was totally in the gray on the matter. It was his opinion that the whole thing was just stupid and from what he was finding out many of the students were of the same mind as him. The light and dark sides combined only totaled a third of the school and general population of Britain. The rest just stood back and let the two fight it out.

Harry could see that several of the Slytherins were gearing up for a verbal fight with Weasley again. It wouldn't be the first time. But before anyone could open their mouths the door to the potions room opened and Professor Stuart stepped in to the hall. She looked in both directions then motioned for them all to enter. The potions lab had change considerably from what Professor Snape had set up. The room was brighter and the smell of potion fumes was gone. Harry found a workstation toward the middle of the class and pulled out his books.

"Good morning class, I am your new Potions teacher, Professor Stuart. I have gone over what Headmaster Dumbledore and Professor Snape taught you. I will be continuing where the Headmaster left off." Professor Stuart stated then took roll.

The rest of the class was amazing, except in Harry's opinion… Oh he loved it just as much as everyone else, but every time the Professor asked the class a question and Harry raised his hand she would look at him, tell him to put his hand down and then call on another student. Harry's eyes where a mischievous yellow by the end of the class.

-oo00oo-

After History of Magic in which Harry was still trying to figure out how to get rid of Binns, and then lunch, was a double Defense. Professor Quirrell was back at the head of the class so Harry took his normal seat at the back, as far from the man as possible. He was not looking forward to the headache he would have at the end of this class. The bell rang and the Professor Quirrell started his stuttering lecture. Harry just groaned then pulled a defense book from his bag and started reading. Almost as if on cue the shade was back prowling around outside Harry's mind defenses. He was one hundred percent sure that it was Quirrell but he had no way to prove it.

One part of Harry's mind kept a constant watch on the shade; it wasn't getting close to the mist at all so Harry couldn't attack it, but he was ready if it so much as touched his outer defenses. By the time the bell ran to end the class, Harry had his headache. The structure that Hogwarts had built in his mind to store the possessed book would shake constantly while the shade was probing, that was what gave Harry the headache.

Harry, with Neville at his side, went to dinner in the Great Hall with the rest of the Hogwarts students. Neville had told Harry about how some of the students where starting to voice their opinion about the Founders Heir. That he didn't eat with the common folk. Neville was concerned that Harry wasn't spending enough time in the company of the rest of the students. So that was where he was going to eat his meals from now on.

After dinner Harry, Neville, and Susan went to the tower to do homework or just relax. Hermione would join them later as she wanted to look something up in the school library. Harry sat down in the lounge area with his original Hogwarts: a history, there was a staff meeting that night and he wanted to listen in.

Susan settled in to the study area and pulled out her assignments. She really loved the study area the Founders had in the tower. Everything she needed was there; the never-ending roll of parchment that Rowena Ravenclaw had created was especially nice.

Neville walked into the dueling area pulling his wand as he entered. He needed to practice a few charms and a couple counter cures. All in all it was shaping up to be a good night for the three friends.

Hermione entered the tower about thirty minutes later. She had found a book that contradicted what she read from another book on the levitation charm. This looking at multiple sources and coming to her own conclusion was contrary to her normal way of thinking but she was driven to succeed and become a better person.

"Harry is that the original Hogwarts: A History you had when the Professor found those books in the Hufflepuff suite?" asked Hermione as she sat down in the lounge area with Harry.

Harry looked up from the book where he had been watching the staff meeting. Nothing really important was going on yet, Dumbledore hadn't asked about him yet so Harry was a bit bored. He may own the school but he really didn't want to have to run it yet, maybe a few years after he graduated.

"Yeah, it was left to me by my grandfather, Godric Gryffindor." Harry smirked at Hermione then winked.

"So it has the true history of the founders?" asked Hermione

"It has a lot more than that, its self-updating, so it has everything that has ever happened in Hogwarts recorded in it. We could even read this very conversation in it if I asked for it. Hogwarts hears and sees everything. It's all recorded here. I am only telling you this because I know you won't tell anyone about it, am I right?"

"Yes Harry, it's one of your big…" Hermione didn't get to finish her sentence as the whole castle shook, knocking her off her feet. At the same time Hedwig appeared over Harry's head, hanging in the air, her talons out and ready. Tula appeared almost as quickly along with fifteen other elves, taking up defensive positions around Harry.
