Sarah Jane Adventures X Doctor Who Crossover

Lost Ones

Part Eight

Materializing in the backyard of house number thirteen Rani, Luke, and Clyde ran out of the Tardis and proceeded to play in the back yard like teenagers should. Their laughter like many others scorched the skies for it was finally over and life could go back to normal.

Back in the Tardis the old girl hummed happily thought out the ship. As The Doctor walked along one of many corridors in his vessel a smile crept across his features the moment a familiar scent whiffed pass his nose. With a nod The Time Lord turned the corner to see his best friend sitting at a white table with a Tardis blue tea set in front of her.

Sitting down Sarah Jane poured him a cup of tea then pour her self one as well. The citrus aroma tickled his nose as he added some sugar and cream before taking a sip. Another smile spread across his lips which made Sarah Jane smile as well.

"I'm glad you like it." Sarah Jane said.

"I always like your tea."" The Doctor commented.

"Hows Clara?" Sarah Jane asked.

"Resting, I believe she will have a very sizable headache when she wakes up." The Doctor replied.

Sarah Jane nodded lightly as she took a sip from her cup. The Doctor took another sip from his as well. Soon a silence erupted between them that nether seem to mind. Sarah laid her hand over her friends as she stared into his eyes and he vice versa. The both of them smiled when the Tardis hummed loudly. The old girl always loved to interrupt them.

"Odd Bob?" The Doctor asked curiously.

A sigh escaped Sarah's lips before she gave her answer.

"Gone for good this time." Sarah Jane replied.

"Fear will always linger" The Doctor added

"Indeed it will, but I wont let it consume me anymore." Sarah Jane said.

The Doctor smiled as he gave Sarah's hand a light squeeze. The two continued to sit and enjoy their tea in silence as the Tardis hummed away. Time had stopped for the both of them and the couldn't be happier. A chuckle here a giggle there, peace had finally reached them but they knew such a thing never lasts.

A groan from the old girl brought The Time Lord and his journalist back to reality. As the two of them finished their last cup of tea The Doctor rose to his feet. He extended his hand to Sarah Jane who gladly took it.

The two walked hand and hand down the long corridor and back into the console room. Before either of them had a chance to speak a loud bang on the Tardis's main doors interrupted them.

"Mum!" Luke yelled through the door.

"Sarah Jane we got a problem!" Another voice yelled.

A sigh escaped Sarah Jane's lips as she let go of the Doctors hand she turned to him with a smile.

"Duty calls." Sarah Jane could only say.

Glancing behind him The Doctor noticed Clara leaning on a rail by the console.

"The same goes for me...oh and be on the look out for Victor I don't think we have seen the last of him." The Doctor informed her.

"Oh I will in fact he's at the top of my list….safe travels." Sarah Jane said blinking away a few tears.

"Ditto." The Doctor said.

After a brief wave the Tardis doors open and Sarah Jane stepped outside. The Tardis moaned as the doors shut behind her. The Doctor forced himself over to the console and with a deep breath he pulled down the lever.

As a familiar sound sailed through the air Clara stood by The Doctor's side.

"She means a lot to you doesn't she?" Clara asked.

"You have no idea." Is all The Doctor could say.

Sarah Jane watched as the Tardis disappeared before being dragged away by her son and Clyde.

Good bye Doctor….well time to get back to work.
