Okay. I have no excuse for getting this chapter so late than when I normally intended to.

Over a course of the year, I was distracted by many things. Among those distractions were the schoolwork at my college was piling up on me, suffering a long case of writer's block, suffering from a stressful, nerve-wracking case of social anxiety, and becoming depressed at life to the point where I perceived as life not being worth living. It's not fun, it's sad to think about it. My folks (my divorced parents) and my counselors thought it best to have me take the fall semester at my college off to work full-time to achieving a few life goals for myself, and I had to reduce the amount of time spent on the computer for a while. Things at work have changed drastically, so I won't have any time during the weekdays to work on my fanfictions until the weekend comes.

Not to mention that for a few months, I couldn't work on my computer because the hard drive went faulty, therefore my computer went laggy. I took to the liking of playing my Nintendo games for a while (my favorite all-time games in my opinion being Super Mario World and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D) until I recently acquired a new hard drive and now my computer works fine. Now all I have left to do is readjust back to my old habit of typing on a functioning computer and getting the chapters of every fanfiction that I am currently writing.

So, I am sorry for having you guys wait over a full year for this chapter to come out. I hope that the wait was worth its weight in gold (ha, ha), I hope that the fandom did not die over the year and I hope you enjoy reading it because it was hard trying to come up with the rest of this Duel, not to mention what happens after the Duel is finished! Next chapter is where the fun begins, so stay tuned, and keep a weather eye on that Last Updated list of your favorite and followed stories!

Domino City - Under the Kaiba Dome

"Seto! Seto, can you hear me!?" the long-haired boy screamed into the communications speaker. "This is Mokuba, do you copy!? I repeat, this is Mokuba! Do you copy!?"

Mokuba meddled with the frequencies to his brother's Blue-Eyes White Dragon Jet, receiving nothing but static on the other side. After the communications to Kaiba's jet went down and his radar was suddenly snuffed out, Mokuba tapped into the many different frequencies so he would try and establish contact with his brother. No matter how much the young Vice President of KaibaCorp tried, he couldn't reach to the jet. It was as if someone was using military grade signal jammers to block out every signal in the area.

The lack of communication to Kaiba's jet wasn't what worried the boy. What worried him was that a moment ago, he heard a muffled yet distinct noise from the outside of the manmade hill; first it was a dull drawn-out splash followed by a large explosion like a bass drum. Mokuba knew deep down there was only one vehicle that would make an explosion that big, and in order to confirm it, he desperately worked to find the frequencies to Kaiba's jet but ended with many unsuccessful results. Mokuba became increasingly worried if Kaiba made it or not, but he couldn't stop trying to reach out for his brother's sake.

"Seto! This is Mokuba! Can you hear me, Seto!? I repeat, can you hear me!?"

Mokuba continued to adjust the connection between his base and his brother's jet, but it was all in vain. There was nothing but static on the other side, and much to the boy's complete dismay, it could only mean one thing. Riddled with despair, Mokuba quit adjusting the controls and dropped his head down and held himself up against the keyboard, eyes glimmering with building moisture.

Mokuba took his hands and slammed both fists on the control panels out of frustration, squeezing his eyes shut as the moisture was forced from the corners of his eyelids. "It's no use. I can't get through to Seto," the younger Kaiba lamented. "If something has happened to him, then I don't what to do! He could be badly hurt for all I know, or maybe even lost! I can't bear to think of what might have happened to Seto! I can't think of what he's going through right now! If my brother is gone, then... then..."

Mokuba's card pendant swayed like a pendulum as its owner fought to fight back the tears. A few drops fell from the boy's eyes before he wiped them away and slammed his control panels again, this time hitting the keyboards. Unbeknownst to the boy, the computer he was at opened a few screens, more specifically the security cameras placed all around the city. The speakers were also currently active as they picked up a conversation that would bring the younger Kaiba out of his saddened state.

"Now I pay 500 Life Points so that I can free my 'Blue-Eyes White Dragon'!"

"Kaiba!"

At those exact sounds, Mokuba shot his head up, his tearing eyes widening as they gazed at the security footage from the surveillance cameras in the Domino City Plaza. The images showed his brother, standing in the middle of an Egyptian courtyard, his arm held to his side with his Duel Disk strapped to his arm as his mighty "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" released a mighty roar. A relieved chortle escaped from the boy's throat upon seeing his only living relative alive and well.

"It's Seto, and he's okay!" Mokuba cheered. "Yugi and his friends are with him as well! And so are a number of people that I've never seen before."

Mokuba looked over the footage until his eyes fell on a man wearing a mask, a cloak, and armored limb attachments. His field contained two monsters, both different Egyptian-styled Spellcasters with the bigger one more powerful than both the smaller one and Kaiba's Dragon. "And that must be the guy who's behind all this," he said, his eyes narrowing. "He's made a mistake trying to take my brother on in a Duel. Too bad for him, he's gonna get beaten by Seto real bad!"

"So what's with the silent treatment? Has the overwhelming power of my 'Blue-Eyes Dragon' left you speechless?"

"Speechless no... but the overwhelming power of your Dragon is another story... and I shall illustrate... with the true power of my 'Pharaonic Sorcerer'..."

"You what!?"

"He's gonna do what?" Mokuba questioned.

All of a sudden, the screen emitted a bright light, causing Mokuba to cover his eyes out of reflex. When the light dissipated, Mokuba opened his eyes and gasped to the sight of a familiar-looking monster on the cloaked man's field. "No way! That looks like my brother's 'Blue-Eyes White Dragon', but much different!" he shouted as he shot up from his seat. "This is not good! At this rate, my brother is going to lose this Duel! I've got to get down to the plaza so I can see this for myself, and help Seto!"

Without a moment lost, Mokuba turned and darted towards the door, the automatic function opening up for the departing boy. The revolving chair he bumped into spun until it slowed to a complete stop, right in front of the active computer screens. There, the footage revealed Kaiba being outnumbered and overwhelmed by the Controller's monsters and strategies.

Domino City - Domino City Plaza

Turn 7: Seto Kaiba (1500)

A few of the materialized "Security Orb" Trap Cards flew around and over the Domino City Plaza.

The rest of the crimson mechanical spheres hovered around the area and the heads of everyone in the plaza, watching and recording the Duel between KaibaCorp CEO, Seto Kaiba (LP: 1500), and the mysterious masked figure, the Controller (LP: 2400). Standing aside of the field with an amalgam of fear and concern in their eyes, Yugi, Jaden, Yusei, Yuma, and Astral could do nothing more but watch the Duel unfold with the match unfortunately turning in the Controller's favor. Joey, Tristan, Tea, Tori, Syrus, and Alexis were among the spectators to know how the Duel might end at first glance, but how it would end was an entirely different mystery all on its own.

The "Pharaonic Highruler" (3500/2100), and the "Pharaonic Sorcerer" (1000/1000) on the Controller's field stood as silent as statues, their Millennium Items glowing at the eye. The shadows of the previous "Pharaonic" monsters used to Summon the "Highruler" stood behind the latter, the glowing shape of their respective Millennium Items giving the silhouettes perfect contrast with their shadows. In the fitting scenery for the Egyptian-themed Spellcasters, the "Spirit Tablet Sanctuary" Field Spell was still active, as was the "Spiritual Release" Trap Card still face-up in his Spell/Trap Zone, and one face-down card as well.

The "Dragon Spirit of White" (2500/2000) stood completely opposite from the original "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" (3000/2500), both of them emitting a low growl as their owners facd off against each other. The only thing that Kaiba could think of at the moment was to sic his "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" on the Controller's "Dragon Spirit of White" and get rid of the copycat, but even he knew that only 500 points of battle damage wouldn't be enough. He would have to go with the Controller's weakest monster, his "Pharaonic Sorcerer".

"Do you see now, Mr. Kaiba?" the Controller asked the CEO. "For each turn that you play... I will always be one step ahead of you."

"I hate to break it to you, pal, but I'll be the one who's one step ahead of you soon!" Kaiba responded, pointing his finger at the weakest monster the masked man controlled as his Dragon built up its signature raw energy in its mouth. "Now, 'Blue-Eyes White Dragon'! Attack with White Lightning!"

With a mighty roar, the "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" expelled its devastating white beam towards the "Pharaonic Sorcerer", only to fall short. "That is not good enough, Mr. Kaiba..." the Controller declared. "I activate my Trap Card, 'Spiritual Battle'!"

A Trap Card flipped open, depicting "Pharaonic Sorcerer" with a monster resembling "Swordstalker" in front of a blank tablet, battling the rearview shot of the "Pharaonic Highruler" with the "Black Luster Soldier" battling alongside it. "This card forces any monster we Summoned on our turns... to attack each other this turn... so now your attack on my 'Sorcerer' becomes null and void..."

"Oh no!" Kaiba shouted. Suddenly, the Millennium Items worn by both of their respective "Pharaonic" owners glowed, enveloping the "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" and the "Dragon Spirit of White" in the same aura. The two Dragons wriggled and writhed, like they were moving in the aura against their own free will. Kaiba's Dragon once again built up and expelled its raw white energy towards its future counterpart, which was caught in its blast and exploded as an end result. The explosion was caught in the Controller's path, him not being fazed by the attack or his Life Points dropping by 500. (The Controller: 2400 = 1900)

"A good try, Mr. Kaiba..." the Controller said to his opponent as the smoke cleared to reveal his "Dragon Spirit of White", unscathed much to Kaiba's complete, "but not good enough either... for you see... not only have you failed to reduce my Life Points significantly... but you have also overlooked the special ability of my 'Pharaonic Sorcerer'... and while I have my 'Sorcerer' in play... my "Dragon Spirit of White" cannot be destroyed by your 'Blue-Eyes White Dragon'... nor can it be targeted by any of your card effects... so in other words, Mr. Kaiba... I am all but untouchable..."

Kaiba jolted with surprise, and the Legendary Duelists and their friends gasped as the Controller was once again a step ahead of his opponent's moves. "However, there is a price... for bringing out such a monster with this effect..." the Controller said. "For you see... the player with the monster still standing from this battle... must destroy that monster

The Legendary Duelists gasped with confusion then shock as they saw the Controller's glowing white Dragon bellowed out a roar before it exploded into fine gold dust. "Now why would he do that?" Syrus asked from the sidelines. "With that 'Dragon Spirit', the Controller would have been able to beat Kaiba down in one move?"

"I don't know," Alexis said, "but whatever it is, it can't be any good, especially for Kaiba."

Kaiba growled as he looked down at the cards in his hand. "I really hate to admit this, but that mystery man has it all figured out. He knew that I would go for his 'Pharaonic Sorcerer' because it was the weakest monster on the field. That move might have given his 'Pharaonic Highruler' an added 200 Attack Point bonus, but I would've hit him with ten times that amount in battle damage," he thought, looking at the Controller's field, "but now that he has his 'Spiritual Battle' Trap Card in play, any monster that we Special Summon on my turn must attack; and thanks to that 'Pharaonic' combo of his, he can seal off any attacks from my other two 'Blue-Eyes White Dragons' from my Deck."

"Your Dueling has begun to show flaws, Mr. Kaiba... and I was expecting more from a Duelist as skilled as yourself... a Duelist whose nearly-unrivaled skills took place among others in history... but if this all that you can do... if this is the extent of your skills as a Duelist... then I suggest that you surrender this match. It will not harm your already damaged reputation any further... it will only save you from the humiliation of the inevitable defeat..."

The CEO of KaibaCorp growled, his frown twisting into a snarl. "You really think I'm gonna give up this Duel? Just because you've somehow managed to outmaneuver my attacks?" he growled. "Listen pal, I'll admit that you've got me twisting and turning with that strategy of yours; but once I find a way around your little head game combo, then I will make you regret the day you threatened my city, just like all the other psychopaths before you!"

"You have spirit, Mr. Kaiba... quite admirable in someone like you..." the Controller commended, "but it will be that spirit that will bring you defeat and destruction... so if you have any moves that you wish to make against me... now would be the best time..."

"There's only one thing I can only do right now," Kaiba grumbled with a growl as a face-down card appeared in his Spell/Trap Zone. "I place a monster in face-down Defense Mode. With that, I end my turn."

Standing helplessly on the sidelines, Yugi, Jaden, Yusei, and Yuma could do nothing more but watch as Kaiba struggled to keep his ground against the steadfast Controller. Astral, his expression quiet and calm, closely observed the Controller's tactics, calculate his possible Dueling strategies, and came up with fifty possible scenarios of the masked man's next move. Yuma felt a nervous lump form in his throat, and he swallowed it down as he and the others talked amongst themselves.

"This doesn't look too good for Kaiba, guys," Yuma finally said.

"Yeah, no kidding," Jaden said. "The Controller's been backing Kaiba into a corner, left and right! There's no way he can bring out any new monsters, thanks to that Field Spell!"

"That's right," Yusei agreed with a nod. "Thanks to that 'Spirit Tablet Sanctuary', any monster that he Summons are automatically sealed into a Spirit Tablet while being stuck in Attack Position without any of its Attack Points; and at the cost of 500 Life Points, Kaiba can free his monsters from those Spirit Tablets and have them regain their Attack points and effects, but even that wouldn't be enough to stop the Controller."

"Yes," Yugi concurred, "and with the combined powers of that 'Pharaonic Highruler' and that 'Pharaonic Sorcerer', Kaiba is forced to add any monster the Controller so chooses from his Deck to his hand, and then he'll take advantage of that by forcing it to be placed on the top of his Deck. If Kaiba manages to take the risk and give up his Life Points to free his monsters, then the Controller will Summon another monster with the same status as the freed monster, and force them to attack each other. It's a formidable, if not perfect setup for Kaiba's defeat."

"Indeed, but take a look at Kaiba's face-down monster," Astral pointed out. "When Kaiba Summoned that monster in face-down Defense Mode, it was not forced into Attack Position and sealed by the effect of that 'Spirit Tablet Sanctuary' Field Spell. Therefore, any monster that he Summons will automatically be sealed off by those Spirit Tablets, but since he laid down a monster face-down, the effect of that Field Spell becomes null and void"

"I see," Yusei realized with a nod. "So Kaiba must be building up a defense until he can get the comeback that he needs."

"That's right," Yugi said, "and I can guarantee that Kaiba will survive by the skin of his teeth until he can make that comeback."

"Assuming that the Controller doesn't have any other plans for him," Jaden replied.

Yuma felt a bit depressed, his forehead purple and mouth all squiggly. "Wow. That was way more depressing than what Astral would normally say."

Astral smiled and closed his eyes. "I shall take that as a compliment."

Turn 8: The Controller (1900)

"It is my turn then..." the Controller said, drawing his card and revealing it, "and I shall increase the power of my 'Pharaonic Sorcerer'... with the 'Spiritual Spellbook' Equip Spell Card."

As the Controller laid down his card in his Spell/Trap Zone, the Equip Spell card appeared behind the "Pharaonic Sorcerer", a purple aura forming around the outline of the Spellcaster. "This card allows my monster to deal battle damage to your Life Points... even when your monster is in Defense Mode..." the Controller said, flinging his arm out. "But first, my 'Pharaonic Highruler' shall destroy your Dragon! Go, my Pharaoh! Attack!"

The "Pharaonic" Fusion Monster took its sword and gave it a powerful swipe, releasing a glowing, green shockwave that collided with the "Blue-Eyes White Dragon", causing it to explode and the shock that made Kaiba cover his face with his arms. (Kaiba: 1500 = 1000) "Now I shall weed out your defenses by destroying your face-down monster..." the Controller said. "'Pharaonic Sorcerer'... use the power of your ancient magic... and destroy Mr. Kaiba's last line of defense."

The "Sorcerer" took his Millennium Rod and pointed it at the face-down monster, emitting a dark beam towards the Set card that automatically flipped face-up. The monster that appeared on the Defense Position card was a masked, redheaded clown with a big red hat with a pink feather, a blue vest, yellow-and-green striped ruffle and pants, pointed shoes, and cuffed clawed hands. The clown made a small chuckling noise, then screamed as the beam shattered it into oblivion, throwing the smoke into Kaiba's face. (Kaiba: 1000 = 700)

"You may have reduced my Life Points with that last attack," Kaiba said, "but since that last monster you destroyed was my 'Peten the Dark Clown', I can activate its special effect, and Summon another copy directly from my Deck." Kaiba slapped a second "Peten the Dark Clown" on his Duel Disk in face-up Defense Mode (500/1200). A duplicate of the same jovial jester appeared on the card while its sat on its heels, giving a formal introduction by bowing down and taking his hat off. The Dark Clown looked back up to the Controller, pulled its left bottom eyelid down and blew him a raspberry with its wriggling, red tongue out.

"Amusing, Mr. Kaiba... you are one of the top Duelists in this timeline... and the only thing you are hiding behind... are the clowns you originally intended to use for your 'Crush Card' combination..." the Controller said, point his finger at Kaiba. "...not that it matters anyway... for my 'Spirit Tablet Sanctuary' Field Spell shall render your harlequin into a harmless etching in stone..."

Kaiba grunted as another stone tablet appeared behind "Peten", pulling the clown into the stone and merging it together so the original artwork of the card was shown. (500/1200 = 0/0) The Control placed two fingers on the top card of his Deck. "...and since I have rendered your last defense useless... the effect of my 'Spiritual Spellbook' now activates... allowing me to draw one card from my Deck."

The Controller drew his card and briefly peeked at it. "You have done poorly in this Duel, Mr. Kaiba... so permit the indulgence of giving you a brand new start... with the Spell, 'Card of Compensation'..."

The Controller slapped the Spell Card on his Disk, depicting a wounded soldier among fallen soldiers, reaching into the glowing heavens for a bunch of cards raining from the sky. After the effect was resolved, every card on the field, from the Field Spell, to the face-up Spell and Trap cards on the Controller's field, to the monsters still lingering on the field was caught in a majestic glow. "The display is quite beautiful, isn't it, Mr. Kaiba? The heaven's light allows you to draw a card... for each card left on the field since a monster was destroyed in battle this turn... and with seven cards left on the field... we each both draw that many cards..."

Kaiba huffed. "Gee. You're quite generous for a psychopath wearing a metal mask."

The Controller and Kaiba simultaneously drew the seven cards drew his fourth card when his eye widened at a familiar card face-up at the top of his Deck. "There it is! My 'Blue-Eyes White Dragon'!" Kaiba thought to himself. "Once I add my favorite card to my hand, then I'll finally be able to gain the upper edge. And the timing couldn't be better, because I've got the right cards to get the job done, and two of them happen to be my 'White Dragon Ritual' and my 'Paladin of White Dragon'!"

In Kaiba's hand, there was the "White Dragon Ritual" Spell and its corresponding Ritual Monster, "Paladin of White Dragon", along with "Silent Doom", "Vorse Raider", and his own "Polymerization". "Once I am able to use these two cards, I'll be able to Summon my 'Blue-Eyes White Dragon' from my Deck! Sure, it'll cost me 500 Life Points to free my 'Paladin' and I can't afford to pay the rest to Summon my 'Blue-Eyes', but that'll all change once I use my 'Plomerization' to fuse them all together! Then, once I Summon my all-powerful monster, he'll regret ever coming to my city and threatening the safety of my company in the first place!"

As Kaiba proceeded to draw his card, there was a split-second pause. Then, out of nowhere, an electrical surge ran throughout his body, causing him to growl in pain the voltage ravaged the inside of his body at a non-lethal level. Yugi, hs friends, and the rest watched helplessly in surprise, witnessing one of the most famous Duelists in Duel Monsters history get electrocuted before it stopped, leaving him slightly burnt and smoking. Kaiba dropped to one knee to keep himself from falling down over the pain.

"Kaiba!" Yugi shouted.

Kaiba struggled to move, his voice hoarse and raspy. "My Duel Disk... it shocked me..."

"Hey, what's goin' on!?" Joey snapped. "Why did rich boy get da shock treatment when he was about ta draw his favorite monster!? That looks like cheatin' ta me!"

"He's right," Jaden agreed. "There's no way that drawing Kaiba's 'Blue-Eyes' would shock him into submission like that!"

"Not unless it was necessary for the Controller's victory," Yusei suggested.

The Controller chuckled to the sight of Kaiba's expense. "Alright, wise guy. How about you tell me why my Deck gave me the shock treatment?" the CEO asked with venom.

"I... may have neglected to inform you... of my 'Pharaonic Soulgazer's' other special ability..." the Controller said, showing his armored hand towards the silhouette with the glowing let eye behind the "Pharaonic Highruler". "You see... since the power of my 'Soulgazer' has revealed your 'Blue-Eyes White Dragon'... you are prohibited from drawing your favorite monsters... and thus you must draw the cards underneath it..."

Kaiba's face grew into a shock. "But that would mean...!"

'Yes, Mr. Kaiba... you will not be able to use your monster... to Summon your 'Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon'!"

"Oh no!" Yugi shouted. "He's even found a way to stop Kaiba from Summoning his best monster!"

"This guy's not just one step ahead of Kaiba, he's a whole mile ahead of him!" Jaden yelped.

"He knew Kaiba's move before he was going to make it!" Yusei said. "No matter how much we try to figure him out, the Controller always finds a way to one-up us!"

"So then... all is lost!?" Yuma squealed.

"Not quite," said Astral. "Kaiba has three more cards to draw from his Deck, thanks to the effects of that 'Card of Compensation' Spell. If he can draw a card in his Deck that could counter the Controller's strategies, that might help put an end to his game."

"Let's hope you're right, Astral, for all our sakes," Yugi said. "This isn't just a Duel to win, this is a Duel that will decide the fates of our own timelines, and the fate of Duel Monsters as well."

When Kaiba's body finally regained all the energy it lost from the sudden shock, he stood back up on his feet, swaying as he glared at the Controller with pure hatred in his eyes. "Great. Not only can I not Summon my monsters, but I can't even draw my 'Blue-Eyes White Dragon' to my hand. Now I can't be able to use my three Dragons to form my 'Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon' and use it to defeat that creep. All this time, he's been playing me like a puppet, and I've let him tug my strings for far too long. Unless I can draw the cards I need to win this Duel, then my pride as a top-ranking Duelist will be no more."

Kaiba slipped his fingers underneath his face-up "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" and drew his three cards. As he looked to the cards drew, his eyes widened at the sight. "Wait a minute! These cards... they're the cards I need!"

The Controller oversaw Kaiba's expression as he looked at his seven new cards. "Mr. Kaiba... do you know what the theme of this Deck is?"

"Gee, I don't know," the egotistical Duelist remarked. "Maybe it's an Egyptian Deck that keeps your opponent from even getting one step ahead of you?"

The Controller let out an amused chuckle. "Not quite, Mr. Kaiba. Although your assumptions about my Deck's stratagems are not far off... this Deck... these forty cards stacked up in my Duel Disk... are based on the ancient Shadow Games played in Ancient Egypt. Every move I've made... every combination I've used against you... they are all reminiscent to your past life as one of the Pharaoh's six trusted sorcerers... and their power are just as potent as they are now...

"During each Shadow Game taking place in the Pharaoh's court... the six sorcerers... the Sacred Guardians as they were called... they used the magic of the Millennium Items to battle the monstrous souls of the guilty... and seal them away in stone tablets. My 'Pharaonic' monsters... my 'Spirit Tablet Sanctuary'... even the two Continuous Trap Cards that reside on my field... they are remnants of the rituals and the mystical battles that took place in Egypt... thousands of years ago... and now here we are... reenacting the earliest form of Duel Monsters the same way the members of the Pharaoh's court did... and I owe it all to you... Mr. Kaiba..."

"Oh, so you used me for an exhibition match so you would turn this Duel into an ancient Egyptian exhibit?" Kaiba asked.

"Of course..." the Controller answered. "You are a unique soul, Mr. Kaiba... you emanate a certain type of air that unmatched by anyone else... an air of power and prosperity that no other power-wielding Duelist can hold a candle to. You control three copies of one of the most iconic card in Duel Monsters history... you have an intense rivalry with Yugi that spans to over five millennia... and despite your egotism and your lust for power... you make a considerable ally if the situation looks dire and grim...

"But this Duel has proven to me... of what everyone knows about you..." the Controller carried on. "You rely on the use of power too much... and you will never stop anything to achieve what desire... fame... glory... even the fourth 'Blue-Eyes White Dragon' you stole from Solomon Muto... and that is exactly what began your conflict with the Pharaoh... and the many incarnations that followed later on. Face facts, Mr. Kaiba... every strategy you've made... every choice in your life that you have chosen... was always centered around power... and that is why you won't win this Duel..."

Kaiba drooped his head down under the Controller's words, his facial unreadable with his brown hair covering it up.

Yugi's face grew with concern as he silently said his rival's name. "Kaiba..."

Suddenly, the white shoulders of Kaiba's jacket bobbed up and down, jerking repeatedly as shaking, shuddering breaths reverberated from Kaiba's throat. At first, it sounded like Kaiba was crying, as if he was finally accepting that his Dueling and his entire life was based around raw power and nothing else. As the breaths grew louder, it became apparent that Kaiba was laughing his signature laugh. The throaty laugh was almost psychotic, mixed in with the intense focus of a power-hungry conqueror and a sly business acumen. It was only moments after several laughs and egotistical chuckles that Kaiba grew a twisted smile that cracked along his cheeks.

"Is there something I should be informed of, Mr. Kaiba?" the Controller said, tilting his head slightly out of curiosity.

"As a matter of fact, there is something you've managed to overlook," Kaiba said, jabbing his pointing his finger at his opponent. "It's usually hard for me to admit when the people I'm up against aren't wrong. It's true that I'm not the nicest guy around. It's true that I'm what Wheeler would call a sleazy little rich boy who would force his way up to the top of the world. And maybe I don't care much for the people around me; but you're wrong about one thing. There is something in the world that drives my ambitions as a Duelist and as the CEO of my company!"

"Oh? And what would that be?"

Kaiba gave a single chuckle. "That's easy. It's my brother, Mokuba!"

Yugi perked up in intrigue. "His brother?"

Joey, Tristan, and Tea each looked on with different variations of surprise and interest on their faces as the Controller bowed his head slightly in acknowledgement. "Your brother, you say? Tell me, Seto... how has your brother influenced you to become a winner and a powerful figure in the world... when all you did along the way was push him down... like the bullies from your old orphanage?"

"You don't get it at all!" Kaiba snapped, clenching his fist at his chest. "My brother and I have been through too much together for you to even comprehend!"

Kaiba closed his eyes and thought back to the moments as a boy in the household of his stepfather, Gozaburo Kaiba, the first moment that popped into his head being the one where forced to study every book stacked. The young Kaiba's eyes drooped heavily down as fatigue and exhaustion was finally taking its toll before Hobson forced him awake with a raised voice. "When my brother and I were taken in from the orphanage by my snake-in-the-grass stepfather, I have endured nothing but hardship and pain for nearly nineteen hours a day! The work was brutal, my tutors were all merciless, and there was barely any time for me to regain my strength!"

Next came the familiar memory of young Seto spotting Duel Monsters cards hidden inside a textbook given to him by Hobson, smuggling his first few cards and a five-year-old's sketch of a "Blue-Eyes White Dragon". "But just as I thought that my life couldn't get any worse, my brother pitched in and helped me change my entire outlook for the better! Soon, my entire studying life seemed like child's play to me, and I was able to make it near to the very top of the world! And all I had to do..."

Finally, Kaiba's takeover of KaibaCorp from Gozaburo flashed through his head, with his younger self, Mokuba, and the Big Five standing against the now late CEO. Then, with newfound determination, Kaiba's eyes flashed open and clenched a fist up. "...was take over my stepfather's company and rebuild it from the ground up!"

The Controller sighed. "But to accomplish such a feat... you had to manipulated your brother... by toying with his emotions like a puppet..."

"Yes, I had to be rough on him, and there's not a day that I don't regret doing what I did" Kaiba said, "but thanks to what I've done, not only have I thrown that tyrant of a stepfather out of my company, but it brought Mokuba and I closer than ever before. We changed KaibaCorp from a multimillion dollar arms manufacturing business into the multi-national gaming business we are now! We've been in situations where delusional freaks like you have tried to take the world for themselves, but they've failed to complete what they set out for!"

While Mokuba ran through the streets to the Plaza with little gasps of breath in between his footfalls, Kaiba pointed his finger at the Controller. "And just like those other times before, your little 'master plan' is going to fail, and this time, it's going to fail by my own hands instead of Yugi's!"

With those mighty words of newfound determination, Yugi, Jaden, Yusei, Yuma, and each of their respective friends fell silent with wonder. Even the Controller himself paused himself for a moment as he soaked in Kaiba's current emotions, quietly calculating the next few words to counter his opponent's speech. While everyone in the plaza was still for a moment, the only three people sealed outside the plaza cowered under the threat of the three "Security Orbs" hovering dangerously close with their electrified probes. Chazz, Hassleberry, and Crowler huddled up to the corner of the "Gate Blocker" and the building, everyone none the wiser of a young shadow sprinting towards the plaza.

The Controller placed his hand on his hip, lowered his head, and chuckled. "You are quite something, Mr. Kaiba. You really are..." he said. "You have finally mustered up the courage to admit your mistakes... and declared that you would become this city's hero... just like Yugi. None of that will matter now... because you are quite close to failing this Duel... and once you finally lose in shame and utter disgrace... you will realize too late that your selfish intentions and desires... will lead this city... and everything else that you perceived that revolved around you... into total annihilation..."

While the Controller talked, the sprinting form of Mokuba leapt up in the air, did a mid-air flip, and smashed his foot into the armor of the first "Security Orb". The impact was so great that Mokuba's foot smashed through the armor and stamped out his circuits, causing the mechanism to smoke and fall to the ground before it exploded into fine dust like a common Duel Monsters card. Chazz, Hassleberry, Crowler watched agape at the sight as the younger brother of Seto Kaiba himself and heir to KaibaCorp rubbed the underside of his nose triumphantly. Upon viewing their fellow animated Trap Card being destroyed in front of their viewing scanners, the other two "Security Orbs" charged up their stubby taser "arms" and descended onto Mokuba.

The young Kaiba smirked confidently as he performed a roundhouse kick to the security drone's side.

"Face it, Mr. Kaiba... you were in too far over your head in this Duel... and now you have fell too far behind. You may have some skills that are quite legendary... but I have a better insight to your Deck... than you already do. No matter what move you will make... no matter what stratagem you try and conjure up... I will always be three steps ahead of you... and there is no chance that you will emerge victorious..."

"That's what you think, tough guy!"

The young shouting voice resounded through the plaza, the source of that voice coming from on top of the "Gate Blocker" behind Kaiba. Everyone looked with their own surprise as the voice belonged to a long-haired brunette kid, standing on the top with his arms crossed. He stood next to a young adult with a black jacket and dark, spiky hair, and a muscular man with dreadlocks while wearing a sleeveless yellow vest. Everyone native to Domino City and everyone who attended Duel Academy gasped and smiled at the familiar faces, save Kaiba who was only shocked by his brother's appearance.

"Mokuba!" exclaimed the KaibaCorp CEO.

"Chazz! Hassleberry!" Jaden yelled.

"Sorry we were late, sarge. We were held up in a corner by one of them electrifyin' security drones," Hassleberry said.

"You can call it lucky that this kid came along and took down those three drones," Chazz said. "I was feeling a bit cramped being huddled together with a muscle head and a scrawny stickman."

Jaden's smile turned into a curious one. "Hey, speaking of which, where is Crowler, anyway?"

A scrawny arm reached up and pulled the thin body of Dr. Crowler, his entire body shaken from soreness and exhaustion. "That's it... that's the last time... I let someone ride on my shoulders... like some unwanted stepladder!" the bone-thin blonde complained as he slumped over the edge of the "Gate Blocker"and gasping for air.

"Mokuba! How did you find me!?" Kaiba asked his brother.

"I lost the tracking signal on your jet, Seto! When your signal blipped out over the sea and I heard the explosion outside, I was so worried about you that I was ready to assume the worst!" Mokuba explained. "But then the surveillance feed from the security cameras came up, and I was watching you Dueling that creep! When I saw how you were in trouble, I just had to rush all the way down here just to give you some support!"

Kaiba smiled, but a robotic laugh drew his glare at the Controller. "How touching... a bond between two brothers that is as adamant as a diamond..." the Controller said mockingly. "Perhaps your brother's presence... is all the motivation you need... to not lose, Mr. Kaiba..."

"Seto is not going to lose!" Mokuba snapped as the masked villain. "He's going to win this Duel! No matter how many times people have tried to one-up my brother, no matter how bleak his outcome looked, he always found a way to turn his Duels in his favor! So don't think you're going to win easily because you're so far ahead of Seto, because he's about to take you down, and take you down hard!"

"Is that so?" the Controller asked the younger Kaiba. "Pray tell... what makes you so certain... that your brother will win this uphill battle?"

"Because you said it yourself. You said that you knew my Deck in and out and you knew most of my strategies," Kaiba grumbled as a new, crazed look in his eye spread across his face. "But that's your problem. You were so confident about countering every one of my moves that you've missed one thing. Thanks to your generosity, by letting me draw my new hand, you happened to give me the exact cards I needed to win! And trust me, pal, these are the exact cards that are going to send you back to whatever pathetic rock you crawled out from!"

If anyone could catch the Controller's eyes behind the mask's eyepieces, they would've seen that they were squinting. "Well then... it sounds that I need to take the necessary precautions... before I make my next move..." the masked man said, holding two cards in his hand. "I place these two cards face-down... and end my turn. Now then, Mr. Kaiba... show me the cards that you believe... will obliterate the rest of my Life Points..."

Turn 9: Kaiba (700)

"It'll be my pleasure," Kaiba growled as he placed his fingers on the card underneath his face-up "Blue-Eyes White Dragon".

"And it will be my pleasure... to tap into the powers of my 'Pharaonic Highruler'..." the Controller interjected, motioning to the ten-foot tall Egyptian Pharaoh. "With his special ability... I am able to replicate the ability of my 'Pharaonic Foreseer'... to take a quick look at the top card of your Deck... and as you know... by the effect of my 'Pharaonic Soulgazer'... you cannot draw your 'Blue-Eyes White Dragon'..."

"I know how your 'Soulgazer' works already," Kaiba retorted, drawing the top card under his "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" and revealing it to be his "Ring of Destruction" Trap Card, "but don't think that means you can hide behind your Egyptian army any longer, Mr. Mystery, because I already have the cards that I need to finally crown my victory."

"That remains to be seen, Mr. Kaiba... because now you must return your 'Ring of Destruction' to the top of your Deck..." Kaiba complied with the Controller by placing his Trap Card under his "Blue-Eyes". "...and now, if you recall this next part of my 'Pharaonic' combination... I must now send my last 'S from my Deck to my Graveyard... so that I may assist in adding your 'Blue-Eyes White Dragon' from your Deck... to your hand..."

As the Controller sent his third copy of the "Spirit Dragon of White" from his Deck directly into his Graveyard, Kaiba took his third copy of the "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" and added it to his hand. "And if memory serves me right, now that I have added my 'Blue-Eyes White Dragon', your 'Soulgazer's' allows my Dragon to be placed on the top of my Deck, therefore forbidding me to even touch it for the rest of the Duel."

"Not exactly, Mr. Kaiba... for you see... since you have added a monster with the same name... as the face-up card on the top of your Deck... you are able to add those two to your hand..." the Controller explained as Kaiba added his face-up "Blue-Eyes" from the top of his Deck to his hand, "...but now your hand is beyond the exceeding limit of seven... which means the cards that you have drawn... are now sent to you your Graveyard..."

With his stoic, stone face, Kaiba sent his remaining two "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" cards to the Graveyard. "Now then, Mr. Kaiba... let's review your current circumstance..." the Controller said, pointing at Kaiba. "You have only one monster on the field... and that would be your second 'Peten the Dark Clown' with whom I have made useless... every one of your 'Blue-Eyes White Dragons' now reside in your Graveyard... and even if you could bring them back... you still need to pay 500 Life Points to release them from my 'Sanctuary's' power... but that still won't be enough to defeat me. Thanks to my 'Spiritual Battle' Trap Card... your monster will be forced to battle a monster with similar stats as your monster. You are outwitted... you are outclassed... and soon you will be outmatched..."

A smirk cracked on Kaiba's face. "That's what I wanted you to do, you fool," he said, catching the Controller's complete attention. "I knew you would try sending my two remaining 'Blue-Eyes' to the Graveyard. You thought that by banishing my favorited cards, I would be at a complete disadvantage. Well, you thought wrong! See, as a man of business in Dueling and in real life, I've learned to find any loopholes within a complex situation and take advantage of it... and I have it right here."

Kaiba took one of the cards from his hand and held it in front of him, the backing facing the Controller. "It's true that each of my 'Blue-Eyes White Dragons' alone can't beat you and overcome your complicated combination, but now that's all going to change thanks..." he swiveled the card around, revealing to be a Fusion Summoning Spell Card depicting a red dragon emerging from a gold-rimmed wall mirror. "...to this card."

The Controller drew back. "It cannot be!"

The Legendary Duelists, their friends, and Mokuba gasped when they saw the card in Kaiba's hand being put to good use by its owner. "I activate the Spell Card... 'Dragon's Mirror'!" he shouted, slapping his card into his Spell/Trap Zone. "Now I can call forth my most powerful Dragon monster from my Extra Deck, and all I need to do get rid of my three 'Blue-Eyes White Dragons' currently resting in my Graveyard!"

With a background of swirling colors, Kaiba's three "Blue-Eyes White Dragons" reappeared to the field, each one turning into a red, yellow, and blue blur that stretched into a swirl of lights. "I Summon my all-powerful beast!" Kaiba declared, his arm stretched up as far as it could stretch. "Now, my 'Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon'! Appear!"

From the lights came one of the most powerful amalgams in Duel Monsters: A single-bodied Dragon with three heads, a smooth white sheen that glimmered and glared in the light, and red symmetrical marks born onto each of the three-headed Dragon's forehead. The "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" emitted a a roar that had triple the decibels of the "Blue-Eyes White Dragon", creating a shockwave that rocked the foundations of the buildings around them, and the remaining glass to shatter from its mighty cry. (4500/3800)

Everyone watching from the sidelines gaped with wild wonder as the titanic, three-headed Dragon loomed over the entire field, standing taller than the walls of the Controller's "Spirit Tablet Sanctuary" and looming over the latter's two remaining monsters. The feet of the "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" touched down onto the ground, causing the foundations to quake underneath its soles as it bellowed out another roar, though it was not as powerful as its last roar.

"Aw yeah, baby! Now that's what I'm talkin' about!" Joey cheered, pumping his fist.

"He has done it," Astral said. "He has found a way around the Controller's combination!"

"The 'Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon'!" Jaden observed wondrously. "It looks even more powerful than the last time I went up against it!"

"The history books said Kaiba used that card several times in his Duels, but seeing it up close is a completely different story!" Yusei added.

"That's... incredible!" Yuma gawked at the magnificent beast.

"Well, Sam Hill! I never thought I'd see the day when Kaiba himself Summons his best monster!" Hassleberry commented on top of the "Gate Blocker".

"Yeah. I've seen that monster in action before," a surprised Chazz replied, "but seeing it used by Kaiba... that's a different thing entirely!"

Mokuba pumped a fist in the air. "Alright, Seto! Now show this creep what you've got!"

"Gladly," Kaiba simply growled as he grabbed another card from his hand. "Now I activate my 'Stamping Destruction' card! Now I can destroy one Spell Card you control, and you can probably guess which one I'm destroying."

The Controller looked at his Duel Disk. "My 'Spirit Tablet Sanctuary'!"

"Exactly," Kaiba said. The "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dagon's" three heads roared, lifted one of its legs and forcefully brought its foot down into the ground, sending a quake the crumbled the sandstone floor, collapsed the walls around them, and knocked the foundation of the obelisk over. The giant sandstone monument crashed down into the ground, creating a large sandy cloud that sprayed dust towards the Controller's general direction. When the sand finally settled, the Controller swayed his body back and forth, standing amidst a field of broken sandstone bricks and sand piles.

"And as an added bonus, since I destroyed your Field Spell, you'll also be taking 500 points of damage," Seto Kaiba said.

The dust enveloped the Controller, making him disappear into the sand cloud as a slightly pained grumbling was heard over the noise. (The Controller: 1900 = 1400)

"Plus, with that Field Spell gone, it's effect can no longer affect any Monster I can Summon, and the same goes for any monster I have on the field," said Kaiba. Suddenly, the stone tablet with the depiction of "Peten the Dark Clown" was webbed with glowing cracks, exploding as the jester trapped inside jumped out, did a front flip in mid-air, and landed on its pointed shoes. The "Dark Clown" proceeded to giggled as it made a corteous bow. (0/0 = 500/1200)

"Now I activate the Spell Card, 'Soul Release'!" Kaiba declared, playing another Spell Card from his hand. "Now I can remove 5 cards from any of our Graveyards from play, and I'm going to target those five monsters that make up your 'Pharaonic Highruler's' Attack power! I'm taking out your 'Pharaonic Balancekeeper', your 'Pharaonic Keykeeper', your 'Pharaonic Foreseer', your 'Pharaonic Soulgazer', and you 'Pharaonic Seeker'!"

The Controller gasped as his Graveyard glowed, sending out of his five aforementioned Spellcasters and out of the game. The shadowy silhouettes of the lingering "Pharaonic" spirits all disappeared as well, leaving their respective Millennium Items to glow before vanishing into thin air. "And since your 'Pharaonic Highruler' has lost every Spellcaster needed to increase its Attack Points, it's Attack Points goes back to its original value of 2500!"

The shadowy aura that surrounded the "Pharaonic Highruler" disappeared as well as its Attack Point boost. (3500 = 2500/2100)

"Next I activate my 'Book of Moon' Spell Card!" Kaiba shouted. "Now I can switch your 'Sorcerer' to face-down!"

Against his will, the "Pharaonic Sorcerer" was forced to the ground as the card flipped him over face-down in a sideways position.

"And last, but not least, I can play my 'White Dragon Ritual'!" Kaiba shouted. The skies above roared as artificial clouds covered the atmosphere, swirling over the plaza with the eye of the storm glowing white. "Now I can release my 'Vorse Raider' from my hand so that I can Ritual Summon my 'Paladin of White Dragon'!"

The ethereal image of an armored, axe-wielding ogre appeared for only a brief second until it was sucked up into the sky, smack-dab into the eye of the storm. The eye glowed, and descending from the skies was a a caped, white armored knight wielding a sword in one hand while riding a white infant Dragon with glowing yellow eyes. (1900/1200) Kaiba thrust his arm out to command his Ritual Monster towards the face-down card. "Now, 'Paladin of White Dragon'! Attack that face-down monster with Ionic Spear Burst!"

The "Paladin" threw his sword out as he gave his draconic steed his order to attack. The young dragon screeched out a stream of concentrated air that instantly obliterated the face-down "Pharaonic Sorcerer", an attack that would've destroyed the Spellcaster with or without its effect activated. As the Controller's defenses were being shattered right before his eyes, the people on the sidelines cheered, knowing that their mutual foe would be defeated by the hand of Seto Kaiba.

"Alright! Now that's what I call a comeback!" Jaden shouted out.

"Just one more attack from that 'Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon' and the Controller's threat will be over," Yusei stated.

"Yes," Yugi nodded, "and then our own timelines will return to their place within the Timestream, and Duel Monsters will once again be saved."

"This is so awesoooome~!" Yuma gawked while Astral sighed with a smile.

Kaiba pointed at the Controller with all the fires of hate burning in his eyes. "You've made a major mistake coming to my city and trying to dominate it using my holographic technology," he growled. "You may have found a lot of ways to one-up me in this Duels, and you may have found ways to twist my every move towards your favor, but this is the end. This is the part where you will receive no mercy from the likes of me!" Kaiba's eyes went wide with rage as Kaiba made his final order. "'Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon'! Attack that 'Pharaonic Highruler' and end this Duel!"

The "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon's" heads each made a lingering roar as their as glowing raw energy was building up inside of their mouths. A hum emanated through the air as the energy grew inside the Dragon's three mouths, completely filled with the devastating light waiting to be released towards the Controller and his de-powered Fusion Monster. Kaiba threw his hand down and pointed at his opponent with eyes matching the ferocity of his Dragon.

"Go, Neutron Blast!" Kaiba screamed from the top of his lungs.

Then, the three heads of the "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" breathed a devastating light stream, each one of them crossing over to form a more powerful beam as it was aimed towards the "Pharaonic Highruler". The light struck the Egyptian-themed Fusion Monster, engulfing the Controller in its deadly wake as his metallic screams were drowned out by the intensity of the attack. (The Controller: 1900 = 0) After the attack connected, where the Controller stood was a large explosion, shocking every spectator back from the potency while most of the people shielded their eyes with their arms. Only Kaiba stood by without using his arms as a protective vizor from the light, watching stoically as the dust clouds from his last attack took the place of the masked maniac that once stood there.

For a prolonged moment, everything went into dead silence. Then the silence was broken by the cheers and applaud from a few of the excited spectators.

"Alright, Seto!" Mokuba cheered the loudest.

"Oh-ho yeah! That was the sweetest comeback that I've ever seen!" Jaden chortled, slapping Yuma a high five.

"Me too! Just when everything seemed so hopeless, Kaiba managed to turn the tables on old metal breath and win that Duel!" Yuma commented.

"Kaiba canned that tin can~! Kaiba canned that tin can~!" Joey and Tristan sung in a mantra while they danced around in a circle, linking their elbows while kicking their legs up in joyous celebration.

Out of all the people not celebrating, there was three of the Legendary Duelists, Yugi, Yusei and Astral, Kaiba, and Tea Gardner, all of them standing by on their spot in suspicion and worry as the dust slowly settled down. There was something about the way the Controller so easily allowed Kaiba to attack his "Highruler" like he didn't have anything planned out for contingencies. It was a feeling of a dark omen brewing up, the feeling of their nerves feeling skittish and unsettling.

Their gut worries soon came to pass when the dust was settling at the speed of flowing thick maple syrup, and the faint shape of a shadow appeared in the middle of the dust.

"Wait, what's that?" Yugi asked, making Jaden and Yuma suddenly stop cheering.

Everything once against went into silence as the dust was blown away by the passing winds. A robotic breathing noise was heard beyond the earthbound cloud, followed by a chuckled that made everyone including Kaiba freeze up. From beyond the cloud came the rhythm of active hydraulics, whirring and clinking as a steady pace of booming footsteps drew closer. The foot, clad in a metal boot emerged from the dust, and from that dust came the rest of the body belonging to the Controller. His body was covered in bruises, smoke rising from his outfit, and his head drooped down and hidden underneath his hood. From under that hood came the Controller's chuckling, his shoulders shaking with each breath.

Kaiba was taken aback by how little the attack from his best monster failed to physically damage him. "What!?"

Literally everybody who stood by watching the Duel (not wearing a metal mask) felt themselves gasp or freeze in shock, all of their eyes widened to their fullest capacity and their irises and pupils becoming gradually smaller. The Controller threw his head back and his laughing grew increasingly louder, growing maniacal, confident, and admirable which unsettled the Legendary Duelists.

"Okay, can anyone explain why the Controller is laughing?" Yusei asked rhetorically.

"I've had some bad moments in my life when I lose some pretty big Duels, but I've never come out laughing like a crazed hyena," Jaden said.

Kaiba narrowed his eyes. "Alright, tin man, talk! What are you laughing about now!?"

The Controller's laughter gradually ceased, dropping his head down with his mask concealed under the hood. "You have finally done it, Mr. Kaiba... you have exceeded my wildest expectations..."

"What expectations?"

The Controller pointed his finger at Kaiba. "You relied on power to win your Duels... you always charged in with brutal strength and very little strategy to support that power... and it nearly cost you this Duel..." the masked man said. "I merely wanted to expose the downsides to using that strength in front of everyone... see the sort of man who would use his power... to win everything that he coveted. You would've been seen in front of the world to see... as the scared child who covers himself through his arrogance... his egotism... and his selfishness... by exhibiting his ruthlessness on any and all Duelists you challenged...

"But you... you proved me wrong, Mr. Kaiba..." he continued. "You've struggled through this Duel... you were subjected to my every move... and you were bringing yourself to the brink of disaster... but then... you managed to survive long enough.. to make the comeback you needed. You've destroyed my Field Spell... broken through my monsters... and managed to deplete the rest of my Life Points. I must offer you my sincerest congratulations, Mr. Kaiba... for you've proven to me that you are capable of becoming a key player... to my game..."

The Controller looked up, his mask broken off in a couple of placesaround his left eye and the top of his head. A strand of asparagus-colored hair hung from the top of his head, swaying next to his exposed left eye, the iris a salmon-colored tint surrounded by pale, wrinkly skin. "And like all other games... this game will end now..."

"With how, exactly!?" Kaiba argued. "You have no cards on the field, no monsters to protect you with, and you don't even have any Life Points to spare!"

"Which is precisely what I have calculated..." the Controller said.

"You what!?" Kaiba shouted, the answer shocking him and the witnesses.

"You see... you have played right in my hands this whole time, Mr. Kaiba..." the Controller explained. "I knew you would change your tactics into a winning strategy! I knew that you would Summon a monster powerful enough... to eliminate the rest of my Life Points! So I have set these Traps on my field for you to spring... should you ever have grown too reckless with your finishing move... and as it turns out... I was correct the whole time..."

Kaiba growled, not out of petulance, but out of fear. "Okay then, talk! What traps have I set off this time!?"

"Take a look at my field, Mr. Kaiba..." the Controller instructed. "I am sure you will recognize a card that I control..."

Kaiba looked closely at his opponent's field, more specifically to the Spell/Trap Zones where the Controller would spring his traps set especially for him. One of those traps, a Trap Card to be precise, glowed from the midst of the smoke while its image became clearer. Kaiba drew back and gasped; it was a Trap Card that depicted two hands, one hand offering a will-o'-the-wisp to another hand with a golden wrist bracelet.

"Oh no! That card is...!"

Yugi gasped, recognizing the card he once played against Dartz in his Deck. "It's... 'Relay Soul'!"

Yusei, Astral and Jaden gasped.

Yuma was the only person in the group who was unfazed by the Controller's shocking move.

"Hey guys, what's the big deal with 'Relay Soul'?" the teenager from Heartland asked.

"It is a very rare and very risky card to play, Yuma," Astral said. "If the player who owns that card has their Life Points dropped to 0, not only will they continue the Duel, but they can also Special Summon any monster from their hand."

"Okay... so if that Trap Card can keep its owner Dueling even though they don't have any Life Points, then what's so risky about it?"

"The risk of that Trap Card, Yuma," the King of Games explained from personal experience, "is that if that monster is ever removed from the field, then whoever owns that card will lose the Duel."

"Oh, I get it now. So, if Kaiba attacks the monster and that monster is destroyed, then he'll have the Duel in the bag?"

"That's right," Yugi answered with a nod, "but that all depends on the Controller's next strategy."

"You know of this card, don't you, Mr. Kaiba...?" the Controller asked. "Now that you have helped me play it... I have already Summoned a monster that will become the vanguard... of your downfall..."

"Enough already!" Kaiba hissed. "What monster did you bring out!?"

The Controller inhaled through his mask. "A monster that is reminiscent to your past life... Mr. Kaiba..." he said, showing his opponent a silhouette in the dust clouds. "Behold..."

From the smoke came the figure of a young woman, a maiden with long, silvery hair with closed eyes and arms spread out from her body. She wore a long tan dress with markings of a white beaked, blue-eyed creature, arm bracelets from her upper arms to her wrist, and a headband around her forehead to hold her long twin braids. Slowly, she opened her eyes to reveal the color of sky blue in her irises, the very sight of the eyes making Kaiba's head suddenly pound.

Kaiba staggered with pain and fell to one knee, holding both of his hands on his head as the painful rush of memories made his head swim around.

"Oh no! Seto!" Mokuba shouted.

"What's happening to him!?" Jaden wanted to know. "Is he having another headache!?"

"No, he's not. He must be remembering his past as a priest that was loyal to me over 5,000 years ago!" Yugi thought in his head, knowing fully well of the source of his rival's suffering. "Whatever memories that has stirred within Kaiba's mind, it must be because of that monster the Controller has Summoned! My only hopes now are that Kaiba does not falter with him in this Duel!"

Kaiba's mind began to drift from the Duel, his entire field of vision going white as he was subjected to visit the memories of his past life.

-VISION-

Kaiba opened his eyes with another grunt.

His eyes widened and gasped at the canyon he stood within, a spilt mass of geographically raised stone spanning through a part of the desert. The bright blue sky hung overhead the opening of the canyon, the bright sun shining down on Kaiba and the sparkling sand he stood on while the shadows jutted from the rocky sides against the light. Just outside the exit of the canyon and into the distance, there was a city in the background, mostly unseen by the walls surrounding it, but there was a palace in the far back that was barely easy to see.

Kaiba knew the setting of the so-called hallucination. He was in ancient Egypt.

"Oh, great. As if living through one holographic-induced hallucination in one Duel wasn't bad enough, now I've gotta live through two," the KaibaCorp CEO grumbled to himself. "If that masked maniac thinks he can convince me through some cards and a few choice monsters that I was some ancient Egyptian sorcerer who worked for the pharaoh in another life, then he's going to have to live through some major disappointment."

Something caught the corner of Kaiba's eye, prompting him to turn to the sight.

When he turned to see what his his undivided attention, he saw someone he thought was familiar, someone who looked like the "Pharaonic Sorcerer" that he destroyed last turn in his Duel... except this was the same someone that he witnessed in his last vision, kneeling down before a giant stone tablet embedded in the sand. Etched within that stone tablet was the etched image of a dragon with an uncanny resemblance to Kaiba's "Blue-Eyes White Dragon", a fact that couldn't faze Kaiba at the moment because he was more focused on what his Egyptian self was doing.

"Kisara... what have they done to you?"

By the voice that sounded so equal to Kaiba's in every way, the Egyptian High Priest also named Seto knelt down on the rocky knees, his mind filled with uneasy regret for the pain he caused that would plunge Egypt into an endless age of darkness. On his knees, he carried a body in his arms by the threshold, a delicate figure with white hair and nothing but rags she wore on her body. Kaiba's curiosity got the better of him as he walked next to the Egyptain Priest and inspected the person in his arms.

He gasped when he saw the limp body of the maiden.

"Hang on! She looks like the same monster that masked man Summoned!" Kaiba yelped. "How could he have known this!? Unless this is part of the hallucination he designed!"

As if on cue to the skepticism, the maiden suddenly opened her eyes, the visual muscles glowing blue as it covered the bewildered Kaiba in a blue light which soon became white.

-VISION-

Kaiba gasped like he was collecting air after being submerged underwater for so long. His breathing became deep while he continued to kneel in the same position, groaning when he tried to move his muscles and prop him back up on his feet. Even when he stood back up, he was still panting, trying to catch his breath as Mokuba ran up to the side. "Seto! Are you okay!?" Mokuba asked before he turned his hardened gaze towards the Controller. "Hey, pal! What did you do to my big brother!?"

"I have done nothing of the sort, little Mokuba..." the Controller answered. "I merely Summoned this monster from my hand as it was the only one I had. It was Kaiba's suppressed memories of his past that took hold of him..."

"Oh yeah!? And what sort of monster is that!?" Mokuba snapped. "It doesn't look a real card to me, and I should know because I've memorized every card in the Duel Monsters databank!"

"Ah, but it is a real card..." the Controller said, motioning to his female monster. "This is a monster that was pivotal in your brother's past life, little Mokuba... this is the 'Maiden with Eyes of Blue'..."

Mokuba felt himself freeze. "'Eyes of Blue'?"

"You don't suppose that means...?" Joey began to ask.

"Yes... this is a monster that can Summon a 'Blue-Eyes White Dragon'... whenever she is attacked or targeted by a card effect..." the Controller explained. "...but unfortunately... since I only have monsters that act as a dedication of the 'Blue-Eyes White Dragon'... this card cannot apply such an effect. Still... that doesn't mean that it won't serve as a key to my ultimate victory..."

All of a sudden, Kaiba's agonizing groans of pain ceased to be. In its place came a little chuckle, an evil little chortle that lasted for a few seconds. "I hate to break it to you, freak, but your 'ultimate victory' is about to fall through," he said, looking at the Controller with a smug grin. "Your monster has no Attack Points or Defense Points. It couldn't even hold a candle to any of my monsters, let alone against the last monster I have yet to let off his leash."

"His last monster?" Jaden parroted until Yugi gasped with a realization.

"Of course! Kaiba has 'Peten the Dark Clown' on the field!" the King of Games declared. "Once he attacks that 'Maiden', then Kaiba will win this Duel!"

With a few playful flicks of the wrists, "Peten the Dark Clown" made two littles dagger appear from his sleeves and into his hands, holding one of each while standing in a goofy, casual stance. "Now, my 'Dark Clown!'" Kaiba ordered his jester. "Get your last laugh and end this Duel!"

The happy mask on the clown twisted into a sinister grin as it rushed over to cut down on the defenseless "Maiden".

"Wrong, Mr. Kaiba! I shall be the one who gets the last laugh!" the Controller barked. "I activate the Trap Card, 'Counterfeit De-Fusion!'"

A Trap Card flipped face-up, depicting the front view of the "Black Skull Dragon" facing off against the rear views of the "Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragon" and the "Skull Archfiend of Lightning". "This card immediately ends your turn!" the Controller said as a stream of wind and light blew from the artwork, catching the jovial Spellcaster in the act by flinging him back to Kaiba's field much to the latter's surprise. "Also... since I have taken a direct attack from your 'Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon'... I can Summon any number of monsters from the Graveyard with the same stats as the monsters you used to Summon it!"

Kaiba drew back. "Oh no!"

"Oh yes..." said the masked indiviual as he raised his armored gauntlet up in the air. "Rise my 'Dragon Spirits of White!'"

Three purple circular portals with two layers of mystic runes surrounding the center circle appeared in the ground. The portals grew to a large size, big enough for the three glowing counterparts of the "Blue-Eyes White Dragons" as they rose from the dark of the Graveyard and onto the field. (2500/2000) Each of the Dragons gave a mighty roar that was similar to the "Blue-Eyes White Dragon's", except it seemed more powerful, more ancient than it already sounded.

Kaiba stood his ground as he faced off against the three Dragons with a sneer. "Okay. Now I'm in trouble."

"And your troubles are only just beginning..." the Controller said. "All that you can do now is end your turn... for you have no other cards left to protect you, Mr. Kaiba..."

Kaiba growled as he assessed his current. "He's right. I used every last card in my hand trying to take away every last one of his Life Points, and he once again got the upper hand in this Duel! I can't switch my 'Peten the Dark Clown' to Defense Mode because it already attacked, and with its weak Attack Power, I can't even defend myself! With his 'Dragon Spirits of White' ready to attack, there's nothing I can do now!"

"Fine," Kaiba huffed, accepting his inevitable defeat. "Just make your final move so that this Duel can end."

Everyone in the plaza gasped.

"Seto!" Mokuba called out in shock.

"No way! Is Kaiba actually gonna lose this high stakes Duel!?" Jaden shouted.

"It looks like Kaiba doesn't have any choice in the matter," Yugi said. "The Controller has won. He has proven that he can outplay every move that Kaiba tried to make, and now Kaiba is paying the price for challenging him to this Duel."

"So then... we're all doomed then...?" Yuma asked at the verge of a nervous breakdown.

"I'm afraid so, unless some miracle happens and his pet project can be stopped," Yusei said, arms crossed at his chest.

"Then let's hope that miracle can happen soon, for all of our sakes," the King of Games said.

Turn 10: The Controller (0)

"It is my turn, Mr. Kaiba..." the Controller said, eying his drawn card. "And it is also the last one... for I activate 'Special Treaure'!"

A Spell Card was played, depicting "XYZ-Dragon Cannon", "Rare Metal Dragon", "Sorcerer of Dark Magic", a shining white Dragon-Type monster, and a couple of hands holding out to collect four cards, once for each of the depicted monsters. "Since I have less than 1000 Life Points left... I am able to draw one card for each Special Summoned monster on the field..." the Controller explained. "Since I have four and you only have three... I can a total of seven cards..."

The Controller drew until he had eight cards in his hand. He looked at his hand for a moment and threw his hand out to his three glowing Dragons. "Now I activate the special ability of my three 'Dragon Spirits of White'! Now I can Tribute this card so that I can make way for a more powerful monster... a monster that has the power to defeat you, Mr. Kaiba!"

"Like what!?" Kaiba shouted, shocked at the announcement. Yugi and his friends, Jaden and his classmates from Duel Academy, Mokuba, and Tori all watched with shock and horror as the three "Dragon Spirits of White" suddenly disappeared in a flash of light. From the brightness of the light was the silhouette of another Dragon, a ferocious monster that would have Kaiba and Yugi two of the most horrified of all people shaking in their boots.

"Appear! 'Blue-Eyes White Dragon!'"

The Controller slapped the three copies of the legendary rare card onto his Duel Disk, the arc-shaped device crackling with static electricity as the three Dragons appeared where the "Dragon Spirits of White" stood preciously. Each of the "Blue-Eyes White Dragons" bellowed their signature roar as they stared down at their former master, driving Kaiba into complete horror as he stood against three copies of his best card. (3000/2500)

"What!? That can't be!" Yugi protested. "Only Kaiba can wield the three 'Blue-Eyes White Dragon' cards!"

"Yeah, I've gone up against them before, and I know those three aren't the real deal!" Jaden yelled.

"No, Jaden. They are real," the ethereal image of Yubel said as she appeared next to Jaden. "I can sense those Dragons' emotions. I can feel them being sad, angry, and relieved at the same time, like they were longing to meet their master again."

Yuma turned to his Spirit Partner. "Astral, what do you think?"

"Those 'Blue-Eyes White Dragons' are emanating chronological energies that are far beyond our time, Yuma," Astral said. "If those Dragons really are feeling lonely as the spirit said and they are part of a lost future, then that means they are as real as the cards we carry in our Decks."

Yusei turned to the Duel with a fearful look on his face. "Then that means that the Controller can bring back cards used in the past from his own timeline," the Shooting Star of Satellite said.

"It could be," Astral said, "but I fear this is only a fraction of the Controller's powers."

"You cheater! There's no way you can have that card!" Kaiba protested as angrily as he could. "There are only three 'Blue-Eyes White Dragons' left in existence and I own all of them! So tell me, are those Dragons real, or are they just as fake as your getup!?"

"I assure you, Mr. Kaiba... these 'Blue-Eyes White Dragons' are as real as your three 'Blue-Eyes White Dragons' you have banished earlier..." the Controller said. "These Dragons are the first of many anachronisms... that I intend to use in our Ultimate Shadow Game... and you will be the first of many players feel their power firsthand... as I wipe away the last of your Life Points... with this next move!"

The Controller raised his arm up in the air. "I send two of my 'Blue-Eyes White Dragons' to the Graveyard... so that I can Summon a Fusion Monster!"

"You're... what!?" Kaiba shouted.

The two "Blue-Eyes White Dragons" roared as each of them were glowing into a red or a blue light. The two draconian creatures hovered in the air until they were as high as the buildings and were pulled into a central swirl. "Without the use of any mere 'Polymerization' card... I am able to call upon a creature of equal power... but with twice the menacing power..." the Controller declared. "I Fusion Summon... my 'Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon'!"

Two glimmering white wings etched with a blue light in between the wing joints unfurled, and from behind those wings came a twin-headed version of Kaiba's "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" with its two heads roaring like it was a stereo. (3000/2500)

Jaden gasped. "Look at that! That's like a powerful variation of my Contact Fusion!"

"No way! I've never heard of any other 'Blue-Eyes' Fusion Monster, and I should know because I only own the only one in existence!" Kaiba yelled.

"Then you should embed these next cards into your knowledge as much as you can, Mr. Kaiba... because these anachronisms are only just beginning..." the Controller said as he slapped another Monster Card onto his Duel Disk. "Next, I Summon the Tuner monster known as the 'Priestess with Eyes of Blue'..."

A beautiful woman, an older version of the Controller's "Maiden" appeared, wearing an attire that was quite similar to the female Obelisk Blue uniforms, but with a longer, sash-wrapped skirt, veils on her arms, and carrying the handle and strap to a figurine of a small, metallic "Blue-Eyes White Dragon". (0/0)

Yusei drew back with shock. "A Tuner monster!?"

"Does that mean what I think it means!?" Jaden asked.

"I'm afraid so," Yugi confirmed.

The Controller shot his arms out towards the Tuner and the remaining "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" on his field. "Now I tune my Level 1 'Priestess'... with my Level 8 'Blue-Eyes White Dragon'!"

The "Priestess with Eyes of Blue" closed her eyes and hummed in a low female tone, her body suddenly glowing and turning into a little orb of light. The orb burst into a futuristic version of the Synchro Summoning rings as that ring was used to surround the third "Blue-Eyes White Dragon". Suddenly, the body of the "Blue-Eyes" became nothing but a translucent shape of a dragon with an orange glowing outline, with eight orbs glowing in its body.

"With the combined spirits of the White Dragon and its faithful servant... I will now call upon a great beast... whose power is anything but limitless!" The Controller chanted as the eight orbs realigned themselves in a perfect, straight line as a pillar of flowing light passed through the ring and covered the entire area with its shine. "I Synchro Summon... the 'Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon'!"

Emerging from the light came a pure white Dragon with a stronger appearance of the "Blue-Eyes White Dragon", adorning gold on the scales on its belly and head, on the tips of the claws and spikes on its body, and on the trailing fibers flowing from its white, rough tail. The Synchro Summoned "Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon" gave a primal, majestic roar as it looked down on its opponent with fierceness within its glowing blue eyes. (3000/2500)

Kaiba drew back from the appearance of the "Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon", eyes wide with shock. "What is that!?" he shouted, demanding to know. "I've never heard of a Synchro Summon or a Synchro Monster in my life! This must be some form of cheating!"

Yusei grit his teeth with a shocked look on his face. "So the Controller knows how to use Synchro Monsters as well!"

Yugi and Jaden's breaths became shaky with fear as Yuma turned to his otherworldly partner. "Astral, what's Synchro Summoning?"

"To Summon a Synchro Monster, one must send the required number of monster including a Tuner monster to the Graveyard in order to call out a Synchro Monster whose Level equal the combined Levels of the sent monsters," Astral said as he observed the Dragon Synchro Monster. "All that the Controller had to do was send the Level 1 'Priestess' Tuner monster and the Level 8 'Blue-Eyes White Dragon' in order to Synchro Summon that Level 9 'Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon'."

"Oh? Is that all there is to it?"

"Indeed," Astral said, closing his eyes. "It is basic mathematics, Yuma, something that you seem to fail every time in school."

Yuma fell down to the ground from that statement, then snapped back onto his feet while facing his translucent friend. "Now's not a really good time for that, Astral!"

"Before I can finish this Duel... there is just one more card that I have to play..." the Controller said as he slapped down a Spell Card. "I activate... 'Dimension Xyz'!"

A Spell Card materialized, depicting a wormhole with three Overlay Units encircling around the phenomenon, each one colored red, blue, and green. "Since I have less than 1000 Life Points left... I can Summon an Xyz Monster using three copies of the same monster in my Graveyard!"

"He can what!?" Yuma shrieked.

Astral and Tori gasped, the latter covering her mouth in shock as the Graveyard revealed the Controller's three copies of the "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" cards residing in the darkness. "From my Graveyard... I overlay my three Level 8 'Blue-Eyes White Dragons'!"

The three cards upon command turned into yellow light energy, and from the Graveyard portal appearing in the ground, they flew up into the air in a swirl, making Kaiba gasp with horrification. The Graveyard portal disappeared, but in its place was a galaxy-like portal with a big black hole in the center of the portal opening up for the Overlay Units to fly into.

"With these three monsters... I can build the Overlay Network!" the Controller yelled as the Units flew into the darkness of the portal, causing it to collapse and explode. "I Xyz Summon... the Rank 8 'Legendary Dragon of White'!"

From out of the explosion came a brilliant white Dragon that bore some resemblance to the "Blue-Eyes WHite Dragon" with smooth, ivory scales, and gold in its eyes, on the tips of the spikes and claws, in the joints connecting its limbs, and in the hair flowing behind the majestic beast's head. The Xyz Summoned Dragon gave a roar that sounded like wind chimes mixed with a lion's roar as three yellow lights orbited the "Legendary Dragon's" gleaming body. (3000/2500)

Yuma gaped at the sight of the Dragon and how it was Summoned. "No way... he can learn Xyz Summoning as well!?"

"We keep underestimating the power of the Controller, Yuma..." the emissary of Astral World said, eyes widened with fear. "Not only can he use Fusion Summoning and Synchro Summoning, but he can use Xyz Summoning as well! Now it is confirmed that he is from a far distant future after all!"

Jaden turned to Yuma and Astral. "Okay, I know we just met and all, but would you guys mind filling me in here on what this Xyz Summoning is?"

"It's a form of Summoning we have in our timeline," Yuma explained. "It's where you take the number of monster with the same Level, lay them over each other, and then Summon an Xyz Monster in their place with a Rank equal to their Levels!"

"If that is so, then what are those lights going around that monster's body?" Yugi said, referring to the "Legendary Dragon of White".

"Those are called Overlay Units, the source of an Xyz Monster's power," Astral explained. "Instead of being sent to the Graveyard immediately after you Summon an Xyz Monster, they are kept on the field until they must be used to activate their effects."

"But that means if the Controller has the power to Summon different monsters from different timelines..." Yugi deducted.

"Then there's no way that Kaiba's going to win this Duel!" Yusei finished.

"This is bad! Way bad!" Yuma said.

"I'm afraid I must agree, Yuma," Astral said. "Once Kaiba loses this Duel to the Controller, then our timelines... our homes... will be lost to the Void."

Mokuba cried out his brother's first name as Kaiba couldn't help but take a few shaky steps back from the three titanic Dragons looming over him. He could feel the same sensation that he felt when he faced off his own "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" during the testing of his KaibaCorp Duel Disk, or like Yugi when he faced off against said Dragon during Duelist Kingdom. "This can't be real! None of those monsters are reals! KaibaCorp's Duel Disks is built with an information chip inside that contains every card known in the Duel Monsters database, and its information updates constantly with every new card released from Industrial Illusions!"

Kaiba looked down at his Duel Disk. "Not only are that freak's monsters not part of the Duel Monsters database, but the anti-cheating defense program I've installed with the information chip can also detect when a player is using a forgery or an illegal card during a Duel and it can automatically end the match in the other player's victory. So why hasn't the anti-cheating defenses kicked in!? Those Dragons are nowhere to be found in the database, unless he's found a way to hack around the system!"

"Are you thinking that I have hacked your systems, Mr. Kaiba...?" the Controller asked.

"Yeah. And what of it?" Kaiba sneered.

"I assure you, I have not disabled your anti-cheating defenses... even that is beneath the likes of me..." the Controller said, placing his hand on his chest graciously. "However, if you can take a look inside your database... you'll find that I made a significant number of additions to it... without triggering your defenses..."

"You did what!?" Kaiba snapped.

"Ah! Seto!" Kaiba turned to the voice of his brother, holding his open cellphone in his hand. "Roland just reported a massive input of data in the card database! There are thousands of cards that have suddenly been added to the database, and some of those cards are the ones that haven't been released yet!"

Kaiba's eyes went wide. "What!?"

Wanting to confirm Mokuba's report, Kaiba took out his cellphone and typed the code to access the Duel Monsters database. He gasped as he scrolled through the massive amounts of cards on his phone, hundreds if not thousands of different Monsters, Spells, and Traps that he had never seen before in his life littering the entire database like a swarm of ants. "No, it can't be for real," Kaiba said to himself. "If the anti-cheating defense systems haven't been activated already, then that means..."

"That means that the monsters you face are real... and you are about to feel how real their powers are!" The Controller thrust his arm out as he issued his attack command to his Fusion Monster. "'Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon'! Attack that 'Paladin of White Dragon' with Twin Burst Vector!"

The "Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon" gathered a ball of light within the Dragon's twin mouths and breathed out a high intensity beam at Kaiba's only Ritual Monster. The "Paladin of White Dragon" was hit with the blast and enveloped the monster, incinerating it in the light as Kaiba was flung back to the ground by the force of the attack. (Kaiba: 700 = 0) Everyone in the proximity of the plaza, mostly Yugi, his friends, and Mokuba gasped as they saw Kaiba fall in defeat to the Controller's attack.

"Seto!" Mokuba shouted from the sidelines as Kaiba struggled to sit up from his spot.

Using his strength and high stamina, Kaiba stood up on his two feet, breathing heavily as he glared at his masked opponent. "I'm afraid that's only the beginning of your worries..." the COntroller said, shocking the KaibaCorp CEO. "My 'Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon' can attack twice during each Battle Phase..."

"What!?" Kaiba shouted. "You can't do that! I've only just lost this Duel!"

"This Duel will not cease... until you finally feel the power I wield from the future I lost..." the Controller said. "'Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon'! Attack Kaiba's 'Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon' with Twin Burst Vector!"

Once more, the twin-headed "Blue-Eyes" Dragon gathered the lights up in its mouth and released the intense twin beams towards the three-headed "Blue-Eyes" Dragon. In response, the "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" gathered the lights inside each of its three mouths and shot them towards the oncoming beams, connecting them in a battle between two lights with one pushing against the other. In the end, the "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" proved too powerful for the inferior "Twin Burst Dragon", and the beam from the "Ultimate Dragon" destroyed the twin-headed Dragon in one fell blast.

"What was the point of that attack!?" Kaiba inquired. "All it did was destroy your own monster!"

"That may be true... but when my 'Twin Burst Dragon' attacks your monster and failed to destroy it... your monster is automatically banished!"

"No!" Kaiba replied as he looked up to his prized "Ultimate Dragon". He gasped when his most powerful Fusion Monster roared in pain as its body slowly dissolved into dust, its cry echoing into silence as the last portion of its body to disappear was its head. Kaiba's irises and pupils shivered upon seeing his most powerful monster effortlessly vanish into thin air.

"I am not done yet, Mr. Kaiba..." the Controller said. "'Blue-Eyes White Dragon'! Attack his 'Dark Clown' with Spirit Lightning!"

The "Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon" roared as it gathered a pure white light in its maw and released it towards the comical Spellcaster. As soon as the light hit the "Dark Clown", the jester was flung back into the air and let out a pained guffaw before it disappeared. The force of the attack threw Kaiba back in the air once again, this time making him grunt with pain as he landed on the ground with a rolling tumble. This sort of action made everyone witnessing the Duel gasp or cover their mouths in shock.

"Kaiba!" Yugi screamed.

"Seto!" Mokuba screamed helplessly as tears began to form at the corners of his eyes.

"That's not cool! The Controller's kicking Kaiba even when he's down!" Jaden yelled.

"We've gotta do something!" Yuma shrieked.

"We can't!" Yusei yelled. "If we try and save him, then who knows what the Controller could do to us!?"

The last blow delivered from the "Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon" all but knocked some of Kaiba's strength from his body. His clothes and a couple parts of his face were spotted with bruises, his movements were trembling like his bones were brittle, and the only thing he could sound out was the hoarse grunting from his aching lungs. "I warned you before, Mr. Kaiba... your pride is your greatest weakness... and now this city is paying the ultimate price..." the Controller said. "Your tactics are predictable... your anger and egotism has blinded you... and you have doomed every timeline... and everyone in it... into oblivion..."

The Controller pointed his gauntlet at Kaiba. "'Legendary Dragon of White'... put him in his place..."

The "Legendary Dragon of White" roared its majestic roar as it gathered its attacking light inside of its mouth.

"Seto!" Mokuba shrieked as he jumped off the "Gate Blocker", only to be held by at the arm by Chazz.

"Wait a minute!" the pale-skinned Duelist urged.

With its final roar, the Dragon-Type Xyz Monster released a silvery-white vector of light directly towards Kaiba.

Kaiba couldn't do anything more than watch as the light rapidly approached him and hit him like a speeding vehicle.

The force of the blast caused the area around Kaiba to explode, making him fly through the air as everything went into slow motion, just slow enough to make the noises sound like an echo.

"SETO!" Mokuba's voice echoed in a pained scream, tears sprinkling from his eyes as he flailed around in Chazz's tight grip.

Kaiba's limp body crashed onto the ground, bounced a couple of times onto the hard cobblestones, and rolled on the ground like a rag doll until he stopped, lying down on his right side. Like a leopard skin, Kaiba's body was spotted with bruises with a few thin trails of smoke appearing from different places.

For a momentary pause, the only sound that resonated through the plaza was the sound of wind. The Four Legendary Duelists and Astral watched with a horrified expression, their mouths agape with shock. Joey's teeth were gritted, Tristan's mouth hung open like an open trap door from above, and Tea's expression was a look of trauma as she kept her hands over her mouth. Syrus's face was one that spelled fear, and Alexis was the only shocked female in the plaza tough enough to not clamp her hands over her mouth. Tori tightened her hands over her mouth while scared little gasps were muffled behind her palms. Hassleberry, Crowler, and Chazz saw with widened eyes, gasping from the back of their throats as Mokuba looked on in complete terror.

"SETO!" Mokuba broke the silence with his loudest scream yet, jumping off the "Gate Blocker" and sprinting to the fallen form of his brother.

"KAIBA!" Yugi shouted as he, Joey, Tristan, and Tea ran up to check his rival's wellbeing.

Mokuba came up to Kaiba with tears streaming from his eyes, turning his body over so he was lying face-up on the ground. The boy gasped when he saw his brother's bruised face and desperately shook his shoulders to wake him up from his unconscious state. "Seto! Seto! You've gotta wake up! Seto!" Mokuba begged his brother, no response from Kaiba which added to his horror. "Seto! Please don't do this to me! You can't be lying down like this! You need to get up and fight this! Seto! Please answer me!"

Tea watched with the same look she had when Joey went into unconsciousness during the Battle City Finals. Tristan and Joey had the same shock on their faces when they remembered seeing a slimy Trap Monster take the form of "Obelisk the Tormentor", but their looks were ten times twisted to their feelings. Mokuba squeezed his eyes shut, forcing the tears to leak from his eyelids while little devastated sibs emitted from his shaking lungs.

Yugi felt his teeth grit and his fist clench in rage. He stood up and turned to face the Controller, pointing his index finger at him. "Controller! You have gone too far!" the King of Games bellowed, clenching his fist again. "You've pulled each of our own timelines into this realm, you've threatened to destroy us in order to prevent your future from being destroyed, and now you've seriously hurt Kaiba! Your twisted crusade ends here, now!"

"Do not be so hasty, Yugi... I would never allow a key player in my game... to go down that easy..." the Controller explained. "After all... it is critical for the timeline that Mr. Kaiba can stay alive... so that I may recruit more players for the Ultimate Shadow Game..." To that end, the Controller said as he slapped down the Spell Card, "Raigeki". As the Spell Card materialized, lightning shot out of the card, and everyone surrounding Kaiba jumped out of the way as the flash struck the limp body. The high voltage current restarted Kaiba's heart as he woke up with a gasp, taking deep breaths as he regained his senses.

Mokuba gave a relieved, pig-like whine when he saw his brother become resuscitated. "Seto!" the boy cried as he ran to Kaiba and hugged him tight in his arms. "Seto, you're okay! I thought I lost you for a moment!"

"Mokuba..." Kaiba wheezed. "I'm sorry... I lost..."

"There is nothing else to be sorry about... other than the fact that you allowed your city... and every other world to be doomed in three days..." the Controller's deep metallic voice rang out as he approached the gathered crowd, his boot whirring like it was run on hydraulics and booming with each footfall on the ground. "You have tried many times to defeat me with your power... and despite how many times I froze your stratagems... you found a new way to overwhelm me and deplete my Life Points completely... but in the end... the best efforts you put in this Duel was futile..."

Kaiba glared up at the Controller, but doubled over and clutched his aching torso before he could move his muscles. Mokuba called his brother's name as he gently propped his brother up in an inclining position, watching as his victorious opponent walked to an open part of the plaza. "So I suppose you brought me back to life just to gloat in my face?" Kaiba sneered, his voice wheezing over his arduous sensation.

"No, Mr. Kaiba... I am about to show you the consequences... for ungraciously losing the Duel..." the Controller corrected as he lifted his left gauntlet and typed in a command on the glowing forearm jewel. "As you accepted the wagers these four placed before your untimely interference... my end of the bet still stands... which means that my work can continue. In seventy-two hours precisely to this moment... my E.N.D. Cannon will reach its full capacity... and restart the universe... and exclude any mentions of Duel Monsters... and the cards that came years later..."

The faces every person in the plaza all changed with mixed expressions of fear, shock, or maddening as the Controller turned to face the four Legendary Duelists. "...so I would cherish your final three days, Legendary Duelists... because after those three days have passed... the universe as you know it... will become no more..."

With an uplifted arm, the Controller's raised gauntlet glowed and flashed a light. In response to the signal encoded within the light, the lines in the E.N.D. Cannon glowed from the rim of the dome down into the interior of the opening, around the actual cannon. Suddenly, the top border of the glass dome hissed with steam as the top jutted upwards and parts the sides jutted outwards in prismatic shapes. The sides of the dome extended outwards glowed light blue from the sides, and from the appearance of the underside, each part housed what looked like engine exhausts with little needles sticking out of the hollow, glowing light blue at the tips.

The sides loomed over the silos, and the tips of the needles glowed brighter as the light streaming from the tips touched at the base of the Aura from each era. The force of the lights pushed on the Auroras, causing the familiar massive vibrations in the molecules from the air that gave off the same loud bass hum like it did before the Controller revealed himself. The same bass hum and the vibrations that stuck knives in the brain of every person in their own worlds earlier forced them down on their knees. They clamped their heads tight, held their ears shut, and used every ounce of their strength to overcome the nerve-shattering pain the vibrations caused them.

"Ahhhh! What's happening now!?" Yuma screamed over the noise.

"It's the Controller! He must be doing something to the spacial field in this timeline!" Yusei guessed.

"And I'm guessing that he's doing the same thing to our timelines as well!" Jaden concluded.

Yugi forced his head up against the force of the molecular quaking, his teeth grit over the soreness coursing through his veins. When he looked, he gasped when he saw the E.N.D. Cannon move farther away, when in fact the beams of light pushing Domino City further away from the planet-sized weapon. In addition, the blue lights pushed Duel Academy, New Domino City, and Heartland away from each other with a distance of the bridges as far as the traveling distance between the Earth and the moon. If there was a bridge from each timeline that led to the cannon in the center, then the distance between them would be as far as Jupiter from Earth.

"You're right! Look" Yugi said, grabbing the Legendary Duelists' attention. Their faces fell when they saw their homes becoming gradually smaller until they became a speck in the emptiness of the Void. "The Controller is using his cannon to move our eras apart from each other! With those bridges being too far from your homes, if anyone tries to try and cross them, then you'll be lost to the Void!"

"You're kidding!?" Jaden turned to Yusei. "Then that means that if we try to cross those bridges, then we'll never get back to our own timelines!"

"Then it looks like we're all going to be stuck here until the Controller finishes his job!" Yusei finished.

Eventually, the vibrations in the air ceased, as did the bass noise and pain it wrought to everyone in the plaza. When the Duelists aside from the Controller uncovered their ears, they all looked around their surroundings to see if the vibrations did anything to change it, but they were fortunate that nothing was altered. The Controller typed in another command on the jewel in his left gauntlet, and after the jewel blinked red and blipped in response, the blue beams were switched off. In their place, a bright, yellow light beam from each of the needles touched down into the Auroras, and like ink in a printer, the rest of the planet Earth began to form, leaving behind golden dust that dissipated as they entered into the Void. Domino City was not the only timeline to suffer this act, as the other three timelines were started to expand from a simple speck, growing into the planetary sphere they belonged to.

It was then Yusei realized it. "So that's how he did it!"

"He did what?" Jaden asked the Turbo Duelist.

"While we were Dueling our friends, the Controller used those lights to tether our own times like a tow rope and drag them into the Void!" Yusei explained. "Since the Controller won his Duel, he's pulling each of our own variations of Earth into the Void so he could wipe us all out with one strike with his cannon! My time, your times, everyone and everything inside of those worlds are being pulled in here to be wiped away into nonexistence! If I'm wrong, then the Controller could also be using them as separate battlegrounds for the Ultimate Shadow Game!"

"Huh!? But that means...!" Yuma gasped.

"That means that everyone and everything that we hold dear is in grave danger!" Yugi interjected. "Soon, everything we love in our own time will be gone... just like the Controller said."

-ELSEWHERE-

The Signers stuck in New Domino City watched with horror as the red sun-turned-space cannon expanded its features and shot those beams of light directly at the area of the Auroras. By moving the beams from side to side, the space cannon allowed the Aurora to expand outwards into distances far off from across the ocean and the lands surrounding the great metropolis and island. The surfaces from the Aurora, the chronological interdimensional barrier between the Synchro Summoning timeline and the Void steadily traced over every wave of the ocean and over every mound and tree of the lands like a perfect scanning system, bringing anything and everything from that Earth to the realm of nothingness.

"Guys, what's happening!?" Luna asked, her hands fearfully clamped together at her chest.

"The entire world must be getting pulled into this dimension!" Leo answered.

"Guess we're not the only ones getting sucked in here as well!" Crow said, pointing at the skyless sky. "Look!"

The Signers looked where Crow pointed, and their faces fell from shock as they bore witness to the formation of three planets, all of them bearing a strong resemblance to the planet Earth. Minute by minute, the alternate Earths were being pulled steadily into the realm of nothingness by the luminescent tethers tugging at the Auroras. Little particles of light scattered like stardust in its wake, spraying from the path of the Auroras like mist before it all disappeared into the Void.

"Okay, I know this observation should be perfectly obvious and straight to the point," Jack said to his colleagues, "but something tells me we are in very deep trouble here."

"I couldn't agree with you more, Jack," Crow reluctantly concurred. "Looks like whoever's behind this whole mess is making his move now."

"But what about Yusei?" Akiza asked the two. "He is stranded somewhere one one of those planets fighting the good fight while we're all stuck here, unable to help him in any way possible."

"That's something that Yusei has to answer for himself," Jack answered, narrowing his eyes at the space cannon. "I'm sure whichever planet he's on, he's got the front row seats to the main event. All we have to do now is hope for the better."

"I hope you're right," Luna said.

Duel Academy had seen better days when they were stuck in the Desert Dimension of the Duel Monsters Spirit World, a sandy expense filled with dangerous EARTH monsters and "Harpie Ladies" that preyed on the students of the prestigious Duel school. This day, however, took the take for Duel Academy as they never encountered such a phenomenon on a worldwide scale before. Most of the school's students and the staff came around when they saw the beams of light connect with the Aurora out to sea, expanding the lights all across the oceans around them. Sheppard was but one of Duel Academy's staff members who could not contain his complete shock and terror while he saw the lights take in more of the world around him and three other Earths start to form in the Void.

"Oh my word! How can this be possible!?" Sheppard asked himself as he among others witnessed the formation of the three copies of the planet form in the Void, courtesy of the Aurora lights. "How can someone so easily create three copies of our world into this dimension!?" Then a startling realization hit him. "Unless those are not the same planet Earth we live in! They must be a different planet Earth from another time! But what does this mean!?"

-ELSEWHERE-

Feeling the familiar quakes that neutralized him and his robotic assistant earlier, Kite and Orbital 7 sprinted out of his laboratory as fast as he ran earlier. The automatic doors opened to give way to the brilliant blonde-haired Duelist as he ran outside and skid to a halt. While Kite watched from the entrance and Orbital 7 gasped, his eyes were widened to complete terror, the same kind of terror he felt in the midst of that Duel against his father with Yuma and Shark long ago. He witnessed the Auroras separating Heartland from the nothingness, expanding beyond the borders of the land, beyond the borders of the sea and further into the world they were isolated from.

Kite looked up with the same terror he felt as he saw three planets with a similar design to the planet Earth. They too were subjected to the tethers dragging them inside the emptiness while the Auroras slowly and steadily expanded to form the planetary spherical shape.

Orbital 7 did a scan on the tethers moving the Auroras, his little eye blinking as he did a full analysis until he suddenly gasped. "M-M-Master Kite! I'm p-p-picking up strange readings from-om-om those tethers!" the robotic assistant panicked. "Th-Th-They contain the s-s-same signatures a-a-as the light that pull-ulled us into the Void!"

"Now we know how we were brought into the Void," Kite acknowledged his assistant. "Orbital, run a scan on those copies of Earth! I need to know why they're being brought here along with our world!"

"Y-Y-You got it, B-Boss!" Orbital 7 saluted, performing a thorough scan on each of the Earths as his little eye blinked. After a passing moment, Orbital's scanning was complete as his little blinking eye produced a circular holographic map of the other Earths and what the scans found. "Scans c-c-complete, Master Kite! According t-t-to my analysis, each of those Ea-Ea-Earths appear to produce a d-d-different chronological energy, e-e-each one dimmer than the next, suggesting that th-th-they come from the pa-ast!"

"Then my suspicions were right on the mark," Kite said to himself. "Pull up the dates of those Earths. Find a connection between our world and the other three."

"Y-Y-Yessir!" Orbital 7 pulled up the dates from the three worlds he scanned on the holographic map. "As you c-can see, the dates of all the Earths st-t-tem back as far a-a-as fifty years ago-o-o!"

"Is that all?" Kite asked as he looked at the dates from each of the Earths.

One planet with a certain date in particular caught the boy's eye as it widened with shock.

"No... it can't be...!" Kite started. "How is that even possible!?"

"M-M-Master Kite?" the robot questioned the shocked reaction.

"Orbital, do a full scan on that world with this date. I need to see what kind of Earth that took place in this time."

"You-You got it, B-Boss!" Orbital 7 saluted.

The holographic screen zoomed in on that particular Earth, and then, a vertical green line moved from side to side over the Earth. Once the scanning was done, the scans zoomed in on that Earth as multiple pop-ups appear on the screen. Kite took one look at the pop-ups and felt his body go into shock as he recognized the names of the locations on that alternate planet. "No way! There must be a mistake! It says that the city survived but that date says it's been a year after the disaster! There must be more to this than meets the eye! There has to be!"

Somewhere in the deep, mostly unvisited parts of New Domino City, in a location that only some people knew, there was an accident that took place there. The scene of the accident involved skid marks that swerved to the right, one tread line crossing over the other. A dumpster was damaged, dented and bent on an impact brought by a one-wheeled motorcycle whose designs were beyond that of a Duel Runner. Smoke rose from the skid trails and the motorcycle as its driver and passenger laid unconscious near the damaged vehicle.

The driver, one Reginald Kastle, began to stir from his miniature coma as his consciousness allowed him to open his eyes. He grunted as he felt the feeling in his arms return push him up from the ground, allowing him to catch his breath. "Perfect. Did someone catch the number of the dumpster that hit us?" he said as a response and looked back to the scene of the crash. His motorcycle remained in one piece, but the damage to the dumpster and the deep skid marks were quite extensive.

Shark looked around and his eyes laid on the unconscious body of his passenger, sprawled on the ground with (thankfully) her helmet to protect her head from the fall. The WATER Duelist gasped and rushed over to his passenger, turning his sister over so she was lying on her back and her sleeping face facing the black void of space above. "Rio! Rio, can you hear me!?" Shark called to his sister, gently shaking her. "Oh, come on! How many times do you have to lose consciousness while something bad is happening!?"

A bright light caught Shark's peripheral vision as he turned around to see the source of the brightness. His face quickly contorted into surprise when he saw three similar-looking duplicates of the planet Earth form far off into the Void, the trail of rising golden dust trailed by the movement of the Auroras, tugged by the tethers of light. He also watched in complete horror when his home planet, the planet Earth containing his hometown of Heartland, was slowly forming its spherical shape in a distance that was too far from where he and Rio were now.

"Oh man. Make that catastrophic!" Shark replied to the sight. "Yuma, you'd better think of something and quick because from where I'm standing, it's not looking too good."

-ELSEWHERE-

It took each of the four Earths around a full minute to finally form the entire spherical shape.

When the Auroras of each Earth converged into a single point in the South Pole, the curtains of lights disappeared as did the beams of light guiding them. When they did, the Controller typed in another command in his gauntlet and raised it towards the E.N.D. Cannon. "And now that I have gathered the four major timelines of Duel Monsters history... it is time to introduce the other dimensions that will participate in this game..."

From the underside of cannon, emerging from around the devastating firepower came a series of exhausts with needles that glowed light blue at the tips. The exhausts each lifted up into every direction like anyone would find in a compass, and the needles shot their lights deep down into the Void. Like a tow rope, the beams steadily pulled up to everyone's shock, seven more celestial spheres, each one housing a galaxy-like formation, having their own particular size or illuminating their own colorful glow. In a perfect circular formation, the seven additional were lifted up to the level of the four Earths, automatically connected to the nearest world or dimensions by the "bridges." Soon, the four Earths surrounded the seven other worlds like they were part of an elaborate circular diagram, with the seven being an inner circle.

Astral's eyes widened, as did Yubel's. "No, it cannot be!" the shocked feminine spirit said.

"But it is!" Astral said, joining in the surprise. "It's the Twelve Dimensions!"

The Legendary Duelists gasped. "Hold up! Those are the Twelve Dimensions!?" Yuma shrieked.

"Correct," the envoy of Astral World answered. "They are the dimensions that keep the universe in perfect balance."

"Uh, guys? You said that the Twelve Dimensions have twelve dimensions in total, right?" Jaden asked, directing the spirits' attention towards him. "Because from where I'm standing, I can only count eleven, so we're one dimension short."

"Jaden's right," Yusei said. "Without that twelfth dimension, the Controller can't possibly wipe us all out with his cannon."

"No, that's where you are wrong, Yusei," Astral said ruefully. "There is a twelfth dimension. I have created it for the sole purpose to hide the greatest secret in the universe, and the Controller knows where it's hidden."

The Controller typed yet another command, and four more exhausts descended from the other exhausts, pointing straight down around the cannon's firepower. The needles inside those exhausts each shot a golden beam of light straight down somewhere into the Void, piercing the dimensional walls between the universe and the Void. Slowly and steadily, the beams formed yet another celestial spherical shape, this time being as large as the Deimos, the moon of Mars, smaller than all the other worlds combined. In a short time, the golden beams completed their program, pulling the twelfth dimension into the Void like there was no problem.

Again, the golden beams ceased, but the bright azure beams took their place, each beam attaching to the twelfth member of the Twelve Dimensions before they began to tow it up to the level of the eleven dimensions. As the twelfth dimension rose, so did a blinding light with the intensity of being close to the sun, but not potent enough to completely blind everyone in each of the dimensions.

"Whoa, that's so bright!" Mokuba said, shielding his eyes from the brightness.

"Yeah, and that's probably not good, either," Joey remarked.

"Just what is the Controller up to now!?" Tea wondered.

Finally, when the twelfth dimension emerged, Yuma and Astral gasped at the sight they were forced to behold.

"No way! Is that what I think it is!?" Yuma shrieked.

Inside that bright sphere, now placed in the center by the "bridges", there was an object that consistently deconstructed itself into bits and reconstructed itself from those bits like pieces to a puzzle. It consisted of a large rectangle, and in front of it was a very skinny rectangle at the top, a wide rectangle at the bottom with a perfect square in the middle. Streams of light orbited around the object like the electrons around an atom, the object which was made up of primordial cosmic energies and contained said energy.

"It's the Numeron Code," Astral gasped. "The card that has the power to control of time, space, and reality!"

"The Numeron Code!?" Jaden gasped. "Isn't that the same card you said that had created the universe!?"

"Yes. That card was the first card created in the universe, and it is now within the Controller's arm's reach!" Astral said, his voice quivering with fear. "The Numeron Code has enough power to control all of time, space, matter, and reality! If the Controller gets ahold of the Numeron Code, then there's no stopping him! He's going to use his cannon to rewrite the universe and exclude everyone and everything here from the history written within!"

Yusei jerked his head towards the last human in the universe. "We've gotta stop him! We can't let him destroy everything and everyone just so he can save the universe!"

"But how!?" Yugi asked the Turbo Duelist. "We've seen what the Controller can do, and that was only a fraction of his strength! Who knows what he might do to us if we even try and stop him!"

The Controller stretched his gauntlet out in wonder, reaching his hand out like he would grab it from a distance like Astral said. "Finally... after spending many countless years in isolation... trapped withing a capsule floating in the endless Void... I have searched endlessly within the lost data of the universe... trying to find the hidden location of the Numeron Code... but now that I have found it... I could just touch it..."

The Controller took his outstretched hand, turned his palm upwards, and tightly clenched his fingers into a shaking fist. "But now that I have summoned it here with these eleven worlds... I will use your power to erase the Duel Monsters history from your text... and prevent the premature end of the universe... that which I have lost too long ago!"

Once more, the Controller typed in another command in his gauntlet, and thrust his arm our towards the primordial card. "Now, Numeron Code! You and your powers... will belong to me!"

With a slow hum of the mechanics of the tractor beams, the E.N.D. Cannon reeled up the dimension containing the Numeron Code like how a boat reeled in a full, heavy fishing net, pulling it in close range to the crystal at the end of the cannon's firepower. Suddenly, the pull of the tractor beams stopped as the edge of the Numeron Code's pocket dimension crackled with grinding lightning against the edge of the protective barrier of the E.N.D. Cannon, causing the omnipotent card to glow.

The Controller took notice to the unprecedented happenstance. "What's this?"

Everyone else in the plaza watched as the floating pieces of the Numeron Code combine to form the perfect shape of a card, followed with a glow and a pulse that rang like a single gentle chime. The chime had a sharp, desperate ring, spanning out through the radius of the expanded circle of the Twelve Dimensions in the form of a pulse. When the pulse passed through the Golden Key hanging from Yuma's nape, it began to glow, wriggling by itself as a reaction.

"Hey! What's happening to my key!?" Yuma demanded to know before it suddenly floated in mid-air, making him yelp. "Uwaah!"

The green gem at the top of the Golden Key gleamed, and suddenly, to everyone's surprise, a barrage of glowing white cards shot from the gem and quickly surrounded the Numeron Code. The cards, ninety-nine by specific count, formed a protective sphere around the Numeron Code, all of which glowed a warning light against the person who dared force the divine card to merge with the solar-sized space cannon. "The Number cards! They're trying to keep the Controller from misusing its power!" Yuma shouted.

"That's not all! Look!" Jaden pointed at the sphere.

All of a sudden, a serpentine body glowing with golden light appeared from the horizon of Domino City, twisting and coiling its body around the sphere and spreading its majestic, jeweled wings outward. The golden winged serpent had the head of an Oriental dragon, antlers for horns, and short, three-clawed arms attached to a couple of plates. On the left shoulder plate, there was the insignia of a yellow number "100". The golden dragon of light opened its mouth, and gave out a roar that was heard from every dimension trapped in the Void.

"What kind of dragon is that!?" Yugi asked. "I've never seen anything like that before!"

"It's the Numeron Dragon!" Astral said with shock. "In the beginning, when everything was only pure darkness, the Numeron Dragon used its power to create the universe! The use of its power weakened him, so he used the remaining power it had to create the Numeron Code and put itself in eternal slumber!"

"Looks like the commotion has finally woke that dragon up!" Yusei commented.

"The Numeron Dragon. You are much glorious to behold in person..." the Controller said to the golden serpentine, "but even with your power... it won't be enough to stop the likes of me!"

In response, the Numeron Dragon opened its maw and blasted a stream of golden light to the cloaked villain. The said villain in return shot his arm out and with his gauntlets, created a forcefield that deflected the attack around him, damaging the buildings and created shockwaves and dust clouds that made everyone in the plaza cover themselves from the battle. The ring of glimmering golden orbs around the Numeron Dragon's neck glowed brighter as it charged up another attack in its mouth and released it towards the Controller, who strengthened his forcefield to match with the dragon's power. The attack connected with the shield, the deflection became stronger and brighter, and everyone in the plaza took cover.

"You will not stand in my way... between me and my goals!" the Controller declared, a hint of aggravation in his voice. "If you are so willing to delay me with your primordial power... then I will have to take it for myself!"

The Controller waved his arm, dissipating his forcefield and the attack that tried in vain to penetrate it. With that same arm, the Controller jutted his gauntlets out towards the Numeron Dragon to the beat of an energy beam shot at the magnificent dragon. The beam struck one of the orbs around the dragon's neck, the orb's exterior shattered like glass, and the fine gold dust within was being sucked towards the gauntlet like a vacuum. The Numeron Dragon roared with pain from the attack and the sensation of its body disintegrating into gold dust, forced into the hand of the Controller with its modules glowing from the absorption of power.

Yuma gasped. "Oh no! It's just like from my dream!" he said, remembering the gigantic form of the Controller taking both the Numeron Code and the Numeron Dragon into his gigantic hand, the lights glowing inside of his gauntlet. "Everything that the Numeron Code warned me about is coming true! We're all doomed!"

"I don't know about that," Yugi said, "because that dragon looks like it's trying to call for help!"

The King of Games was right. The Numeron Dragon, with its last breath, roared out a distressed roar that was loud enough to wake up every unconscious citizen in each of the worlds that was recently brought into the Void. With that roar, the Numeron Dragon's head completely dissipated into gold dust and was absorbed into the Controller's gauntlet, the modules glowing brighter than ever. The Dragon's roar, however, was not in vain as it sent out a pulse that passed through the four timelines that was home to each of the Legendary Duelists, affecting certain people, places, or objects that was housed within each era.

The pulse passed through Yugi's Deck Box, which began to rattle erratically as it glowed fiery auras of red, blue, and yellow.

"My Deck! Something's happening to it!" Yugi grunted.

The pulse passed through Jaden's body, which writhed in a pain similar to shocks as he held his head, bringing him down to his knees as his irises glowed red and green respectively.

"Aah! Something's happening to me, too!" he said past his agony.

The Mark of the Dragon's Head glowed crimson as it reacted to the passing pulse, which Yusei gripped tightly as he grit his teeth with soreness.

"And me as well!" Yusei replied. "It feels like the Crimson Dragon is responding to that call!"

The Golden Key hanging down from Yuma's nape glowed the instance the pulse passed through him as well, wriggling from its lowest point even when its owner held it in his hand.

"So is my key!" Yuma said as the Golden Key suddenly glowed and floated in mid-air, gleaming at the green gem once more.

In that one moment, everything went into utter chaos.

The red, blue, and yellow fires surrounding Yugi's Deck Box suddenly shot open, releasing three streams of those respective colors into the air. A bright light flashed in the skyless sky, revealing the shapes of three of the most powerful Duel Monsters cards in history.

The first Duel Monster was a spiky winged colossus, a giant blue hulking humanoid figure with a toothed mouth on a head full of spiked horns on both sides of its head.

The second Duel Monster was a large red, serpentine dragon with a black underbelly, sporting a small pair of wings, razor-sharp claws, and a face with two fanged mouths with a power hidden inside each closed mouth.

The third Duel Monster was that of an enormous yellow eagle, its body, wings, and ring reminiscent to that of a mechanical exterior shell, sporting a quarter mile-long dragon's tail and spearheaded fangs in its beak.

"It's... the Egyptian God Cards!" Yugi yelled in fear.

"Unreal," Kaiba grumbled as his shocked brother looked at the three monsters.

"But how did they get here!?" Mokuba screamed.

"I don't know, but something tells me that this is just the beginning," Kaiba stated.

The pulse that was emitted from the Numeron Dragon's maw passed through Duel Academy. Every student and faculty jumped when they felt the ground quake beneath their feet, but it was Chancellor Sheppard who knew those quakes well. "Oh no! It can't be! The seal holding the Sacred Beasts has been broken!"

The slightly pudgy headmaster of Duel Academy ran towards the easter part of Duel Academy where he saw seven stone obelisks appear from the depths of the forest. There, three lights, one of blue, one of red, and one of yellow shot from the center of those pillars and took off towards the skyless sky. Within their respective colored lights, three shapes began to take form: The creature in the red light resembled a skeletal version of the red Egyptian God Card, with no extra fanged mouth but with a decorated head plate; the monster in the yellow light bore a slight similarity to the yellow Egyptian God Cardwith a more fiendish, skeletal form; and the demon in the blue light resembled that blue Egyptian God card without the exterior shell but more fiendish in appearance.

Then, those three lights began to swirl around each other as they twisted against each other, molding into a new fused form that traveled through a swirling stream of pure darkness, at the speed of its light counterpart. "The Sacred Beasts must be headed for the Domino City in the past!" Sheppard deduced to himself. "Could that dragon's roar we've just heard have something to do with it!?"

The new form of the Sacred Beasts flew through the edges of its era, glided over the tethering "bridges" that connected the Duel Academy Era with the Domino City Era and shot through the atmospheric barrier like a blast from a ray gun. With its power to traverse dimensions, the Fusion Monster effortlessly made it through the Void with barely any trouble, and broke through the edge separating the Domino City Era from the realm of nothingness. The swirling stream of darkness twisted itself through the sky, twisting its gigantic, half-humanoid and half-serpentine body around and above the Domino City Plaza, and finally revealed itself to the Controller and everyone within the vicinity.

The monster had the slithering red body of the red Sacred Beast with yellow rings on his dark underbelly, the colorful hulking torso, right arm, and head of the blue Sacred Beast with an emotionless mask at the center of its forehead, the clawed wings from the yellow Sacred Beast. The head of the draconic Sacred Beast took up the left arm of the high-powered Fiend, the skeletal ribs were as yellow as the gargoyle-like Sacred Beast, and the fierceness of the humanoid Sacred Beast was as fearful as ever.

"Oh, dear me! What is that thing!?" Crowler screamed to the hideous monster looming over the city, glaring at the Controller.

"It's the Sacred Beasts!" Jaden answered. "More specifically, it's the Sacred Beasts in their fused form!"

"But that's impossible!" Chazz said, his eyes widened with surprise. "The Sacred Beasts were supposed to be locked away for good!"

"Then that means that golden dragon must've broke 'em loose!" Hassleberry deduced.

"Then that also means that the spirits of every Duel Monsters card in the world will be drained and absorbed into that thing!" Syrus yelped.

"It won't just absorb the spirits of all the cards in the world," Alexis stammered with her words, her eyes glimmering with pure fear, "but all the cards from every era too."

When the pulse affected, Yusei, his Mark of the Dragon's Head glowed crimson, sending a sort of signal with the pulse to the other Signers... his friends... who were witnessing the happenings in New Domino City at the time. Each of the Signers' arms burned when their respective marks glowed, an instinctual message that called the five New Domino City natives for help. Jack's arm glowed with the Mark of the Dragon's Wings. Crow's arm glowed with the Mark of the Dragon Tail. Akiza's arm glowed with the Mark of the Dragon's Foot. Leo's arm glowed with the Mark of the Dragon's Heart. Luna's arm glowed with the Mark of the Dragon's Hand.

"What's happening with our Marks!?" Crow asked.

"Something's calling out to the Crimson Dragon!" Jack answered, "and it feels like the Crimson Dragon is going to answer that call!"

From behind the five Signers, a flash of crimson light glowed brightly. The five chosen individuals turned and saw their guardian deity, a draconic spirit of sacred red fire called the Crimson Dragon, appear from the depths of time and space, its maw wide open and big enough to fit many people inside it. The Signers yelped when the Crimson Dragon snapped its fiery jaws shut, safely trapping them in its mouth as it glided over the ground, ascending high into the air and disappearing in a flash of crimson.

High above the buildings surrounding the Domino City Plaza, everyone took notice of another phenomenon occurring in the form of a crimson flash. Everyone except the distracted Controller turned to see a fiery red dragon fly over the rooftops in a 180 degree turn as a gigantic translucent protective sphere descended onto the cold cobblestones of the old Domino City ground. When the edge of the sphere touched onto the ground beneath the Signers' feet, it disappeared, leaving the five Signers to fall a few mere inches onto the ground. Jack, Crow, Akiza, Leo, and Luna all looked at the new scenery with newfound perplexity and surprise.

"Where are we?" Luna asked.

"Hey, who are those guys?" Jaden asked.

"The welcoming committee?" Yuma guessed.

"No, they are the Signers. Like Yusei, they have been chosen by the Crimson Dragon to fight off the evil forces that threatened their world," Astral explained.

Yusei saw the group of five people and gasped. "Guys!"

Jack, Crow, Akiza, Leo, and Luna all turned to the voice of their sixth member and gasped.

"Yusei!? What in the world is going on here!?" Jack asked.

"A high stakes battle between the Controller and monsters from every era!" Yusei answered. "That dragon up there called out for help, and my Mark started going crazy!"

"Ours too!" Jack replied, looking at his Mark. "Does this mean that the Crimson Dragon is going to fight!?"

To answer the question, each of the Signers' Deck Box glowed a bright light. The cover to their boxes opened up, and suddenly, six streams of light flew up to the Crimson Dragon and took their own shapes. The first of those shapes took the form of Yusei's "Stardust Dragon" which growled profusely as it spread its majestic wings.

"My 'Stardust Dragon'!" Yusei yelled.

The second shape took the form of Jack's "Red Dragon Archfiend", which also growled while spreading its powerful wings.

"'Red Dragon Archfiend'!" Jack exclaimed.

The third shape took the form of a combination between a Dragon and a Winged-Beast, a black-maned drake with no limbs, a pair of wings with two sets of white-and-black feathers on each wing, giant pincers protruding from its belly, and many dull gray tail feathers waving from the backside of a smaller plumage of black feathers. The bird-like Dragon opened its beak and released a raspy growl as its black-and-white feathers transitioned into colors of black and red, signifying its growing anger.

"No way! It's my 'Black-Winged Dragon'!" Crow gasped.

The fourth Dragon had the body and wings of blood rose petals, and its scaly neck and head made like a black rose. A mane of blood rose petals with three long strands of said rose petals flowed behind its head while its tail waved behind like the thorny vines protruding from the Dragon's body. The rose-themed Dragon roared a screeching howl that had the distinct sound of its feminine gender hidden within.

"And my 'Black Rose Dragon' as well!" Akiza stammered.

The fifth Dragon was a beautiful serpentine, having a blue body that split off with two turquoise feathers, the same color as her long, flowing mane. Golden armor was plated on her head, torso and slender hands, encrusted with smooth round rubies. Butterfly wings spread from its body as her beautiful eyes took one look at the Controller and emitted a feminine roar of her own. If one who could hear spirits listened well, they would hear a woman growl in the mix.

"That's... my 'Ancient Fairy Dragon'!" Luna screamed.

Finally, the sixth Dragon was not exactly a Dragon-Type, but rather a Machine-Type draconic monster encasing the real, organic Dragon-Type inside. Its steel armor covered the Dragon's head, chest, legs, and wings, encasing the titanium alloy body. On its right arm was a blue excavator shovel, on its left arm a green screwdriver, and on the end of its tail, a shovel head. Its red eyes gleaming, the Machine-Type draconic monster emitted a metallic roar as lights shot from between the joints of its body.

The Dragon's left arm shattered into fragments, revealing a fleshy, organic brown and golden sand-colored arm with a nail-like weapon where the screwdriver was. The right arm shattered, revealing only a red-tipped clawed hand without any weapons attached. The wings shattered to reveal actual organic Dragon wings, the armored chest and legs shattered into dirty blonde dragon armor as the titanium alloy broke away to reveal the slim, brown body of the Dragon from its tail to its neck. Finally, the armored head broke away to show the head of the Dragon creature cased inside its industrialized body, lavender eyes on both sides of its head.

"And that's my 'Life Stream Dragon' as well!" Leo yelped.

The "Life Stream Dragon" emitted a roar as it joined its fellow Signer Dragons in the sky, servants to the almighty Crimson Dragon readying themselves for another battle against the dark forces of the Controller threatening all of time and space in every world.

"It looks like the entire Dragon band is back together again!" Crow noted.

"Yeah," Yusei agreed, "and all of them are just waiting to wage their battles against the Controller."

Finally, when the green gem in Yuma's Golden Key was at its pinnacle of its gleaming, six glowing cards shot into the air and surrounded the protected Numeron Code. Each of the six cards shattered, revealing the familiar figure of "Number 39: Utopia", standing with four of its upgraded counterparts and one downgraded counterpart.

The downgraded counterpart had the similar appearance to "Utopia", except it had a glowing blue body and lesser armor.

The first upgraded version of "Utopia" was bigger, bulkier, had the color scheme of mostly dark grey, black, and yellow, and was armed with two swords on its side in addition to a bigger sword on its back between its giant, glider-like wings.

The second upgraded form was of a more futuristic design, colored in a dark shade of red, white, and blue with red energies seen on the exposed areas under the armor on its shins and under its shoulders.

The third upgraded form was much bigger, better, and more armed to the teeth than the first upgraded form, colored red, yellow, and white with a few blue spots on its armor.

Finally, the fourth upgraded form was one that was as big as the third upgraded form with white armor covering its pitch-black body, an arc-like circle on its back, split into four perfect arcs with golden wings handing from the bottom of the arc

The six members of the "Utopia" archetype formed in a perfect line of defense with the original "Number 39" in the middle, their poses consisting of their forearms raised at their waists with fists clenched tightly. The only people in the plaza who was more astounded with the strange summoning of the six Warriors, were Tori, Astral, and Yuma, the latter two being the owners of the five Warriors.

"Astral, did you just see that!?" Yuma yelled.

"Yes! All six forms of 'Utopia' are answering to the Numeron Dragon's call!" Astral said with surprise, "But even with their combined power, it won't be enough to stop the Controller!"

Everyone in the plaza all looked up at the monsters in the skyless sky, staring down at the Controller with a series of glares and/or growls as his absorption of the Numeron Dragon was near completion. Legendary divine creatures from the Era of the King of Games, standing alongside with the fiendish Fusion Monster from the Era of Duel Academy, forcefully partnered up with the Crimson Dragon and its servants from the Era of the Signers, and teamed up with the Warriors that supposedly help weather down the Era of the Interdimensional War.

"Oh man! Just look at all of those monsters!" Jaden gasped. "This is gonna turn into a super-sized monster smackdown!"

"And something tells me that we need to take cover and quick," Yusei suggested.

"So... the Numeron Dragon decided to call for help... from its guardians and some of the first Duel Monsters of creation..." the Controller said as he held up his gauntlet and activated his gear-like Duel Disk, holding up four glowing cards, each one glowing red, violet, black, and white. "Very well... since you are all eager to protect the Numeron Code from my reach... then I guess I have no other choice... but to force my hand... and take the Numeron Code by force!"

The Controller smacked the four cards, and with a flash, four different draconic-like silhouettes appeared around where the Controller stood, each the same color as their carded forms. The first silhouette was one completely shadowed in a black glow (the color of Xyz Monsters) with piercing yellow eyes, magenta orbs on its wings, and a fierce, piercing roar.

The second silhouette was completely covered in a bright, white light (the color of Synchro Monsters) with piercing red eyes, having only a pair of armed claws and now hindlegs to its serpent-like tail, but flew with six lime green wings as it let out a different draconic roar.

The third silhouette was colored violet (the color of Fusion Monsters) with a vast array of glowing red and yellow orbs, its lime green eyes gleaming as it roared with a soul-piercing shriek.

The fourth silhouette was a red, wingless Dragon with heterochromic red and green eyes, orbs on its back horns the same color. The Controller stood on the back of the red Dragon as the other Dragons flew up to face the legendary Duel Monsters in the sky.

The Crimson Dragon roared, signaling the Signer Dragons to attack the Synchro Dragon as it flew headfirst into the fray. The "Black Rose Dragon", "Black-Winged Dragon", and "Red Dragon Archfiend" each attacked with Black Rose Flare, Shadow Squall Blast, and Scorching Crimson Flare, but the Synchro Dragon barrel rolled its way around the streams easily like a fighter jet in combat. The "Ancient Fairy Dragon's" wings glowed brilliantly to destroy the Synchro Dragon with Eternal Sunshine, but the circuit-like patterns inside that shining Dragon's lime green wings glowed, creating a projection that was more than a match for the sunlight used to defeat it.

Had "Stardust Dragon" not driven the Synchro Dragon away with Cosmic Flare, "Ancient Fairy Dragon" would have been destroyed. The glowing drake roared as it flew away into the skyless sky, the other Signer Dragons and the Crimson Dragon attacking their foe while tailing behind it in hot pursuit. The pursuit was cut off, however, when the purple figure of the Fusion Dragon appeared from nowhere, its "wings" separated and gathering violet energy to power itself up. Then for its attack, the Fusion Dragon spread sickly, tentacle-like energies to restrain the legs of the Signer Dragons and opened its maw to release energy until the gigantic form of "Armityle the Chaos Phantom" appeared from behind it and shot a stream of fire from its draconic hand.

The Fusion Dragon quickly released its grip on the Signer Dragons and flew away to dodge the fire, and so did the Signer Dragons by a few feet. Using its tentacly energies again, the purple Dragon restrained "Armityle's" arms as it shot an energy of purple raw power towards the Fiend-Type Fusion's face, hitting it square in the demonic face and effectively knocking it down into the sea. A deep rumble, a seven-point quake and a gigantic splash was heard a mile away from the plaza. With the fused Sacred Beasts out of commission, the Fusion Dragon went back to stalk its next prey: The Egyptian God Cards, specifically the red Sky Dragon that seemed weak in comparison to the other two Gods.

The Sky Dragon's fanged mouth opened, gathered all the pure lightning from the sky into its maw, and released it towards the attacking Dragon. The Fusion Dragon suddenly dodged the Thunder Force Attack as it hit the sea, creating a deep trench in its wake at the bottom. With its opening presented to the sinister violet drake, it opened its mouth again and shot it at the Sky Dragon's body. The impact made the Sky Dragon roar with pain, but did not completely faze it. In fact, all it did was make its first mouth close and open its second mouth to release the weakening effects of its Lightning Blast. The Fusion Dragon swerved around a few strikes of the lightning, but feel prey to one of the bolts, weakening it as it hovered limply in the air. The colorfully armed "Utopia" appeared between the violet and serpentine Dragons, growing another pair of arms to wield the four swords concealed on its back. Each of the four hands gripped the scabbard of its swords, held them out, and charged at the Fusion Dragon with Rising Sun Victory Slash.

Unfortunately, that slash feel short when the black Xyz Dragon swooped up and scraped the colorful "Utopia's" armor significantly, chips of its armor flying away as it was flung away from battle. The Fusion Dragon flew away to battle another opposing monster as the Xyz Dragon was left to face the flying blue giant who curled its spiky fist and proceeded to destroy it with it's mighty Fist of Fate. The glowing black Dragon predicted this, as the wings under the purple orbs came apart and fired violet static electricity towards the original "Utopia" monster and restraining it momentarily. The Xyz Dragon became stronger by gaining half the power of the blue God Card's and weakening it by the same amount.

The Xyz Dragon swooped towards giant Tormentor to shred its hard body with its mandibles, but the path was blocked by none other than the downgraded "Utopia". The wings on the downgraded "Utopia's" back expanded, folded over, and created a barrier that stopped the attacking Dragon's mandibles from slicing them to shreds. In addition, the downgraded "Utopia" got stronger with the difference between its power and the Xyz Dragon's power in more ways than one, and lunged forwards to strike it with Rising Sun Roots Slash.

A crimson-and-black helix stream of power stopped the downgraded "Utopia's" attack short, throwing the Warrior back. That helix stream came from the glowing red Dragon, ground support for the other three Dragons fighting in the skyless skies as the Controller watched the battle unfold from its back. Everyone watching the battles taking place over the plaza couldn't help it if they wanted to stay and see the legendary Duel Monsters wage their wars against the Controller and his five unidentifiable Dragons. Not that anyone could blame them; the greatest monsters from different time periods, all fighting together to fight one common enemy. The motions of Dragons, Fiends, and Warriors fighting in the skies, the lights of the Dragons' breaths shooting at each other, the swords' slashes leaving a glowing motion. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that no one could walk away from.

"Wow! Look at all of those monsters! They're really duking it out up there!" Yuma commented.

"Yeah, that's what concerns me," Yusei said, catching the attention of his comrades.

"What do you mean by that, Yusei?" Jaden inquired.

"The Controller just Summoned four different Dragons to battle those monsters knowing that they'll be outnumbered, but they're powerful enough to outmatch most of those monsters," Yusei explained, "and yet, despite how powerful those Dragons seem, they're not completely destroying those other monsters."

"Huh. I see your point," Jaden said. "So are you saying that the Controller is holding them back intentionally?"

"That's exactly what I'm saying. So the question is: why is the Controller not using his monsters' full strength?"

Yugi observed the Controller, standing on the crimson-colored silhouette and directing his Dragons' attack. When he looked, he saw the modules on the Controller's free gauntlet-clad arm glow the same light he used to hold Kaiba before he was attacked. Yugi's eyes widened; he knew what he had planned.

"Oh no! It's a trick!" he shouted. "He's trying to keep the other monsters distracted so he could get ahold of that card!"

The other three Legendary Duelists looked and they gasped when they saw what Yugi saw.

"He's right! With all of the monsters too busy to stop him, then the Controller can take that card no problem!" Jaden said.

"What are we gonna do!?" Yuma panicked. "If the Controller takes the Numeron Code, we're all done for!"

"No we're not! Not yet anyway..." Yugi said as he took out a card and prepared to throw it to his comrade. "Jaden, you know what to do!"

Yugi tossed the card, and Jaden caught it effortlessly. The former Slifer Red took one look at it, looked back at the King of Games, and grew a determined smile. "You bet I do," he said, his eyes glowing red and green.

Up in the skyless sky, the Synchro Dragon did a barrel roll as it avoided the fires of the Winged Dragon's Blaze Cannon attack, retaliating by releasing a stream of white-and-green-glow energy towards it. The wings of the gigantic dragon/eagle mix monster shielded it from being destroyed, then unfurled them to snuff out the energy and bellowed a mighty roar. The Winged Dragon prepared for another, building up an orb of fire, as hot as the sun, within the arch on its back. As the streams of the fire trailed from the orb and into the back of the toothed beak of the Winged Dragon, the helix fire from the crimson Dragon shape struck its chin, causing the beak to suddenly snap shut. In short, the streams of fire were snuffed, and the charging attack imploded at the back of the Divine-Beast's throat, causing it to roar a croaked scream of pain as smoke rose from its mouth.

The Controller looked in mild amusement as his Dragons battled the monsters protecting his object of interest, knowing there was no way that they could win even if they could combine their powers to stop him. "Even with all of these powerful creatures trying so hard to defend the Numeron Code... this seems almost too easy..." the Controller mused to himself. "However... all good things must come to an end... and so will this universe... once I acquire the power of the Numeron Code... and change the course of history for the better..."

The Controller took his free gauntlet, raised it towards the Numeron Code, and opened his palm. The gauntlet and its modules glowed brighter as the outline of the all-powerful card was surrounded in an aura of the same color, and immediately afterwards, the card was pulled away from the center of the circle to the Domino City Era.

Every legendary Duel Monster from the different time periods of the game's history, ranging from as early as the ancient Egyptian God Cards to as recent as the five forms of "Number 39: Utopia" all took notice of the Numeron Code's abnormal movement towards the era of the past. They went out of their mid-battles with the silhouetted Dragons and flew over towards that era to stop the Controller from obtaining the card's omnipotent power. The Controller's looked to the four Dragons in his possession, and like telepathy, he urged his Dragons to stop the interference of the monsters, and they complied without any objection. The Dragons swooped, swerved, and sped around the oncoming crowd of the Duel Monsters, and formed a line in the sky that stopped the march of the monsters momentarily.

Resistance or not, by the time that any of the legendary Duel Monsters would reach their destination, the Numeron Code had already slipped past the barriers between the pocket dimension containing it, and the Domino City Era. Most of the people in the plaza shielded their eyes from the blindness of the Code's brightness, but the Controller did no such thing; victory was just a mere arm's reach away.

"Yes... just a few more seconds... and the universe shall be reborn..."

All of a sudden, the Controller felt something was wrong. He quickly perked his head to his right just as a combination of light and dark energies impact where he and his Dragon stood, causing smoke to blow up in his masked face. The smoke quickly dissipated from where the attacks landed, the Controller emerging on his Dragon unharmed as he took in the sights of his attackers.

Flying in the air were the combined forces of the "Dark Magician" and "Elemental HERO Neos", the Spellcaster twirling his staff and shooting a ball of dark energy while the Warrior from outer space shot a beam of yellow light from its forehead jewel, all aimed at the Controller. With a grunt, the Controller raised his gauntlets towards the two humanoid monsters, and the Dragon he stood on fired another stream of spiral fire, intercepting the attacks and causing them to explode in a cloud of dark smoke. While the smoke lingered, "Dark Magician" and "Neos" quickly flew through the smoke and made an attempt to strike the Controller physically, to which he intercepted by raising his harder-than-diamond holographic Duel Disk.

The "Dark Magician" swung his staff down as hard as he could, hitting the blades of the Duel Disk. "Neos" took his fist and gave a thrust at the Duel Disk, forcing his closed fist against the base of the Disk as far as he could. The Controller stood steadfast on the perch of his Dragon, knees starting to buckle under the combined weight of the two monsters, but only remaining in his spot because of the weight in his boots.

Jaden's chuckle caught the Controller's attention. He looked over and saw the former Slifer Red standing out amongst his comrades, with his Duel Disk fully operational and his eyes burning with confidence, satisfaction, and an otherworldly glow. On his Duel Disk was both his "Elemental HERO Neos" and Yugi's "Dark Magician", placed in two of his Monster Card Zones and solidified by the power of Yubel within him.

"Sorry, Controller, but since you've brought your own monsters to a fight, then we're bringing our own monsters in the fight as well," Jaden said, clenching his fist.

"And now we've got this battle turned in our favor now," Yusei said confidently.

"Wrong!" the Controller yelled. "As long as the Numeron Code is within my reach... this battle will belong to me!"

"Not if we can help it!" Yusei yelled, looking up to his favorite monster. "'Stardust Dragon'! Help them out!"

"You too, 'Utopia'!" Yuma shouted.

The single Signer Dragon and the heroic Number card complied as they flew down to aid the other two monsters fighting their common foe. The three silhouetted Dragons in the air flew after them to intercept them, only for the breaths from the Signer Dragons and a fiery, twirling blade from one of the "Utopia" monster to stop them in their tracks. When the three Dragons turned to see the allies of their intended targets, they immediately roared before they trekked off to once again face those monsters in battle.

The Controller grunted when three of his strongest monsters suddenly turned tail to battle the monsters they previously fought, leaving him wide open for an attack from both "Stardust Dragon" and "Number 39: Utopia". With a growl, the Controller pushed the "Dark Magician" and "Elemental HERO Neos" away from him and beckoned his heterochromic-eyed Dragon to attack the four monsters that dared oppose him. The Dragon roared in compliance as it charged up another Spiral Flame Attack and shot it at the monsters, only to miss when they dodged it in time. "Dark Magician" and "Stardust Dragon" fired their respective energies towards the Controller and his Dragon, but the Dragon sidestepped the attacks as the two energies created two different craters in the ground, leaving them to raise smoke from their wake.

"Number 39" swooped down with its wings and swung its sword down multiple times, creating glowing rapid fire slashes that was hurled towards the Controller's direction; however, the Controller's Dragon was quick enough to jump back away from the slashes before it could hit them, then dodged once more when "Elemental HERO Neos" attempted to slam them with its mighty fist. The Dragon skidded backwards from the dodge to a stop, but that was more than the Controller could take.

"I've had enough of this!" the Controller bellowed, anger in his voice. "It is time I end this pointless battle... once and for all!"

The Controller plucked out one more card from his Deck Box that shone two different colors, one emanating a black aura, the other obscured by his metallic fingers. Just as he was about to slap that card down, he heard the familiar cries of the four monsters that he battled, every one of them taking advantage of the split second the Controller had to drop his guard and lunged for him. "Dark Magician" swung his staff down, "Neos" once again thrusted his mighty punch, "Stardust Dragon" breathed its signature Cosmic Flare attack, and "Utopia" took its two swords and slashed. The Controller quickly raised his Duel Disk up as a shield again to deflect the attacks and was met with a powerful, simultaneous attack that drove him down to his knee.

In fact, the combined attacks were so power, the solidified holograms of his Duel Disk cracked, weaved around, and shattered like exploding glass. The Controller was flung back as he and his Dragon were successfully hit with the attacks. One of "Utopia's" slashes penetrated the Controller's left gauntlet, down to its first layer of circuitry visibly seen past the metal.

The Controller bounced off the ground and rolled on the cobblestone, landing a ways away from the Legendary Duelists and the group. His four Dragons screamed and dissipated into dust upon the destruction of his Duel Disk, leaving only the legendary Duel Monsters from every era victorious. Everyone who witnessed the spectacle stood agape in amazement, trying to digest the spectacle for a pregnant moment.

"Hey... did we just win?" Jaden asked.

"Yeah. I think we just did," Yusei said.

Then, in one moment, the whole plaza erupted in a cacophony of cheers and celebrations, everyone from their respective eras celebrating this victory in their own way.

"We did it!" Yuma cheered. "Our monsters managed to defeat that masked maniac for good!"

"And it's all because they managed to work together as a team!" Jaden agreed, locking his fist with Yuma's with enthusiasm.

"Way to play, Jay!" Syrus cheered as Alexis applauded.

"Now that's what I call teamwork, ain't that right, boys!?" Hassleberry said, grabbing the back of Chazz and Crowlers' necks and bringing them close, hunching them over.

"Oh, my back!" Crowler cried.

"Oh yeah, dat's right! Dat's how ya take down a bad guy with style!" Joey said, locking elbows with Tristan's.

"I think this calls for a little Victory Dance!" Tristan suggested.

The two boys stood side-by-side, kicked their legs up, and sang a tune similar to the "Can-Can" song in unison. "Can-Can, kick a little can-can, show them who's the man-man, Yugi is the man-man, his monsters just kicked, the Controller's shiny little can-can..."

Tea grew a dismayed look on her face, obviously embarrassed by her two foolish friends' folly as they repeated the verse they parodied together. "This is why I need more female friends," she grumbled, eyes closed and one eyebrow twitching.

"Well, how do you like that? Yusei's 'Stardust Dragon' helped take down that shiny metal freak," Crow said.

"Looks like our work is done," Jack assumed.

Luna enjoyed the victory for a short time before the ethereal spirit of "Kuribon" suddenly appeared next to her, a fearful look in the Fairy's eyes. "Kuribon, what's wrong?"

Through "Kuribon's" unintelligible speech, Luna understood what she heard and gasped. "Uh-oh. Kuribon says this is far from over."

The other Signers minus Yusei looked down at Luna when they heard her gasp. "What do you mean?" Akiza asked.

The only people who did not share in the celebration were Kaiba, Yugi, Yusei, and Astral. Their gazing eyes watched the damaged form of the Controller as he laid on the cobblestone ground, clearly injured from the combined attack from the four monsters and unmoving. Suddenly, the Controller let out a pained inhalation, surprising the four, and all others that followed when they saw the Controller slowly sit up on his ground. His hood obscured his drooping head from everyone's sight, but underneath they saw bits of metal fall from under the hood. The Controller lifted his damaged gauntlet up to his face, inspected the damage and growled.

"You fools... you have not comprehended what you have done..."

"Uh, no. What?" Yuma blinked.

Suddenly, a strong wind started to pick up like an unprecedented hurricane had arrived to bring its terrible power all over the world. Everyone in the plaza stood steady against the wind, but they all looked up to see the eye of the storm surround the E.N.D. Cannon, causing it to malfunction with major electrical power surges running through its circuitry and metallic covering. The colorful bridges holding the globe-like dimensions flickered before they vanished into gold dust, allowing the dimensions to sway off-course from the circumference to the motion of the wind.

"Your attack has damaged the space-time tether controls in my gauntlet! Now all Twelve Dimensions will be thrown off balance... and the damages done to all of time and space in each era... will become immense! The repercussions are already beyond any sort of repair..." the Controller quickly typed in a program on his other gauntlet. He lifted his head up to reveal his face behind the nearly-disintegrated mask before he pointed his accusatory finger at the Four Legendary Duelists. "...and this time... it was made possible... by your direct interference...!"

Like a hologram, the Controller's body disappeared entire as he was teleported back to the interior of the E.N.D. Cannon.

"Wait! Hold on!" Yusei shouted as the Four Legendary Duelists ran to stop the villain from escaping, but too late to stop him.

The wind suddenly became stronger than every, sweeping the four off their feet and unwillingly soaring through the air. The allies of the four were soon subjugated to this phenomenon as they too were flying through the air, whipped around like they were being pulled like a vacuum-like tornado with no end in sight. While they were being flung around in the winds, each of the people from the plaza tried to reach for their friends, but this only proved fruitless. Each member of a different era in time were pulled away and sent zipping around the winds, never stopping until they landed somewhere that was stuck in the space of the Void.

"Yuma!" Tori reached her arm out for the aid from her friend.

"Tori!" Yuma yelled as he reached his arm out as well. "Hold on, I'm coming!"

Yuma and Tori were within each other's reach of their fingers, but a sudden gust of wind knocked him away, leaving him to scream as he was unknowingly joined by Astral and Chazz.

"YUMA!" As she screamed, Tori felt herself being carried away to parts unknown.

Leo and Luna tried holding on to each other as tight as they could, but even the two strong sibling bonds could not hold the fraternal twins as Luna was swept by the winds.

"LUNA!" the twin brother screamed for his twin sister as she flew around the winds.

Suddenly, Luna felt a strong arm wrap around her torso and held her close. "Gotcha!"

Luna looked up to her savior. "Yusei!"

"Hold on tight," Yusei said, "and whatever you do, don't let go!"

Just as Yusei instructed the girl, the two inhabitants of New Domino City were knocked away by another powerful gust. Yusei and Luna would have flown away further had the arm of the third Signer reached out and grabbed for Yusei's ankle.

"Gotcha!" Jack said as he held onto Yusei's boot.

"Thanks for the save, Jack!" Yusei called out to his rival.

"Don't thank me yet, Yusei! We're not out of the woods just yet!" Jack called back.

A shrill middle-aged screaming brought the three Signers's attention to a slender projectile coming his way. "Look out!"

The warning came to late as Crowler collided with Jack, sending both flying towards where the zephyr took them.

"JACK!"

Another gust took Yusei and Luna, and they flew around the winds until they would reach their destination.

As for Akiza, she and Crow joined hands to keep each other from being pulled apart and lost somewhere in the Void forever.

"Hold on, Crow!" Akiza instructed the orange-haired Duelist.

"What do you think I'm trying to do!?" Crow argued back. Before long, Crow's hand slipped away from Akiza's grasp and he was sent away with the strong blusters to wherever he would find himself.

"CROW!" Akiza's yells became echos as she too disappeared in the winds.

Yugi, Joey, Tristan, and Tea all tumbled through the strong gusts and screamed from the dangerous rush they were experiencing firsthand. Before Tea could pass Joey, the blonde suddenly reached out and grabbed the back of her shirt and pulled her close. After Joey got a good hold of Tea, he reached out for Tristan, but as soon as Tristan himself turned to reach out, another powerful gust carried him away, presumably never to be seen again.

"Tristan!" Yugi screamed for her friend.

"Oh no!" Tea yelled, watching as Tristan flew away, screaming his lungs out.

"Joey!" Yugi called out, catching the blonde's attention. "Quick! Take my hand!"

Joey reached out to take Yugi's hand, but the strong hurricane winds was too much for the effort.

"I can't! The wind is too strong!" Joey screamed.

"Keep trying! We can't get separated like this!"

Gritting his teeth, Joey pushed his arm through the strong winds, which trembled and vibrated as he was inches away from gripping Yugi's hands. Once more, another gust carried both Tea and Joey away, while Yugi could only watched in shock.

"YUGI!" Joey and Tea screamed in unison.

"NO!" The King of Games shouted as he allowed himself to be swept away as well.

Jaden, meanwhile, flew around the hurricanes, spinning like clothes in a dishwasher before his back collided with someone else. He spun around furiously, but a strong hand grabbed the back of his red jacket and prevented him from straying away further into the storm.

"Hang on, sarge! I'm not letting you go!" Hassleberry shouted with Syrus's arms wrapped around his chest while he piggybacked him to keep him from flying away.

"Thanks, guys!" Jaden shouted. "For a moment, I thought I was gonna get lost!"

"Don't mention it, sarge!" Hassleberry screamed. "It's what good friends are for!"

"Jaden, we can't keep this up much longer!" Syrus screamed. "We'll all bite the dust if we can't do something soon!"

"I know, but there's nothing we can do!" Jaden yelled before he caught the sight of Yugi flying towards him. Then an idea came to him. "Well, I guess there's one thing left to do!"

Jaden quickly peeled the "Dark Magician" from his Duel Disk and held it up to throw the cad at him. "Yugi! Catch!"

Yugi heard his name called by Jaden, and noticed that the former Slifer Red threw his best card towards him. The wind carried the card away in its wrath, but with two quick fingers, Yugi caught the "Dark Magician" and gasped. He understood what Jaden was trying to tell him then; at least he understood it for a quick second before his mind was quickly overtaken by the sensation of fear as he was carried away by the zephyr.

"Is that it!?" Syrus yelled, witnessing Jaden's actions. "You couldn't have made the 'Dark Magician' come to life and save us!?"

"That's all I can do, Sy!" Jaden yelled. "Even if I could make the biggest Duel Monsters come to life, they can't do anything to save us!"

"Then we're all doomed, then!" Syrus cried. "Doomed!"

"Get ahold of yourself, soldier!" Hassleberry barked. "We're not doomed until we all say we're doomed!"

"Tell that to the other people getting swept up in this hurricane!" Syrus screamed when his grip on Hassleberry weakened and he found himself flying through the air.

"Syrus!" Jaden called as his friend was pulled away.

With lightning fast reflexes, Hassleberry reached out and grabbed Syrus by the collar of his jacket. "I gotcha, soldier!"

Now three of Duel Academy's graduates were stuck with two of the trio being held by the back of their jackets by the third. Hassleberry already had trouble trying to get a good grip Jaden, now he had the scrawny shrimp Truesdale to deal with. He grunted as the winds pulled against Syrus's body, steadily losing his grip on his fingers that threatened to let him go and allow the hurrican to take him away. When at last the muscles in his fingers could no longer hold the strain, Hassleberry's grip broke, and Syrus was blown away screaming.

"SYRUS!" Jaden yelled as he and Hassleberry were blown away as well and separated.

Down on the ground of Domino City, the two Kaiba brothers struggled against the winds that threatened to throw them out of Domino City and into parts relatively unknown. Kaiba kept a firm hold on a chimney just above one of the rooftops and another hold on his shrieking brother's hand, but even he struggled to hold himself against the hurricane over the city. His grip on the chimney grew sorer and weaker with each second passing, and his body was weakened from losing his Duel with the Controller in disgrace.

"SETO!" Mokuba screamed, bringing his big brother's attention to him.

After seeing his little brother in distress, it was then Kaiba realized what he needed to do.

Using what little strength he had left, Kaiba took his hand and forcefully pulled Mokuba up and around him until the latter had a good grip on the chimney. Mokuba wrapped his arms around the chimney as tight as he could and turned his head to see his brother. Instead, what he saw was the battered form of his brother, his eyes still stoic and slightly narrowed but with gritting teeth cracked on his face.

"Seto! What are you doing!?" Mokuba shouted at him.

"What does it look like, Mokuba!? I'm looking out for the only brother I have!" Kaiba shouted back. "I'm not letting you get carried away in this weather!"

"I'm not letting you get carried away either!" Mokuba protested. He reached his hand out for his brother's free hand while the one he used was losing its grip. "Seto! Grab my hand! We can get through this storm together!"

Kaiba's pained face twisted and molded into one of a humbled, defeated brother. "I can't, Mokuba. If you grab my hand, we'll both be swept away to wherever this storm will take us. Your place is here, Mokuba. My company's reputation will finally be destroyed, and all of Domino City will fall into chaos. You're the only one who can keep everything under control in my absence, Mokuba. That's why you have to stay here."

Mokuba gasped; he knew what his brother was implying. "Seto, don't say that! This isn't like you to give up now! You can't give up!"

With a smile, Kaiba said, "Goodbye, Mokuba."

The grip finally broke from the chimney. Without any resistance, Kaiba was carried off into the winds like a debris in a hurricane, leaving Mokuba to watch helplessly with tears in his eyes. As he watched his brother disappear, Mokuba squeezed his eyes shut and cried out as loud as he could. "SETO!"

Even the Duel Monsters in the sky, no matter how powerful they were, were no match for the otherworldly zephyr as they all roared before they were engulfed in a light and reverted into their original card forms. "Armitlye" split itself into its three base monster forms and sealed back into their cards, three cards among others that returned to their respective owner or era. Eventually, the raw energy gathering within the crystal became so overwhelming that it exploded, shattering into millions of pieces and sending a shockwave powerful enough to scatter the protective Sphere Field over the Numeron Code, scattering all of the "Number" cards all over the space. The light that was produced by the explosion blinded everyone and everything inside the Void, and in a momentous flash, everything went wrong.

Inside the E.N.D. Cannon - Control Center

The Controller safely teleported back into his control center, the monitors dark, but his throne glowing the same colors of neon red, yellow, green, and blue. Using his other gauntlet, the Controller produced another mask over his exposed face in a wave of solidified holographic-like data. When the mask finally covered his face, the Controller breathed freely again and grunted as he walked over to his throne, each step with his specialized boots like taking a giant step up a steep staircase. He set himself down on his seat, took a few deep breaths of relief, and rubbed his finger on the blue jewel on the throne's armrests.

"Computer... damage assessment..."

Every monitor in the room came alive, producing a giant picture that depicted the damage done to both the E.N.D. Cannon and the Twelve Dimensions. First, the schematics of the E.N.D. Cannon appeared on the screen, every level of the planet-sized cannon blinking yellow. The data that popped up next to the schematics (connected by white lines) revealed the extent of the cannon's damage, which made the Controller growl lowly. There was an alert that popped up on the bottom right of the screen advising him to enable his reserved power.

"Hmm... it seems that these damages are not too serious..." the Controller said to himself, "...but according to the data, these repairs will take approximately three days of self-repair. It looks like I will need an alternate form of energy to power my ship..."

The monitors switched to the next picture, depicting twelve-and-a-half globes within the space within the Void, each one a different color. Seven of the globes, each one colored red, yellow, light green, pale green, blue, neon blue, and dark violet were merged like a tight circle with the bottom of a dark glowing globe overlapping that top of the neon blue globe. A lone globe that glowed white drifted aimlessly in the space like the dwarf planet Pluto. Two of the globes that originally glowed orange and violet overlapped each other to form an orb that glowed a dirty burnt sienna color.

"It looks like the Twelve Dimensions must have broken from their alignments... but that is only a short obstacle that I may be able to rectify... after the three days have passed. The new addition to my circle, however..." The Controller's eyes catching the globe that was ripped out of the distant past of the universe and pulled halfway into the voice. The computer revealed the data regarding the half-globe and the Controller read the data over. "Interesting... according to the data... one of the malfunctioning tethers must have caught that era by accident. That is quite unfortunate... for those who lived to see such a time... but not one without consequence..."

The monitors switched to the many cameras hidden in the metal of the cannon's exterior. The Controller perked his head up and gasped when he noticed something was wrong. "What...!? What happened to the Numeron Code!?" he screamed as he saw not one glowing card in front of the damaged firepower.

The Controller quickly typed in a new command in the red jewel, reverting it back to the map of the scattered Twelve Dimensions. With another command, the Controller switched to a sort of viewing mode on the monitor that enabled him to detect the presence of the Numeron Code and its guardian "Number" cards. A surprised gasp escaped the masked felon's breathing mask as he saw one-hundred little different lights scattered all over the Twelve Dimensions, most of them in the globe glowing black, some scattered in six of the seven orbs in that tight circle, a few in the glowing white globe, and two inside the half-globe.

What caught the Controller's attention more was that there were four different lights that glowed brighter than the one-hundred lights. Each of those four lights were hidden somewhere in the eight merging globes, the two globes that perfectly overlapped, the glowing white globe, and the half-globe. "Interesting... the explosion must have split the Numeron Code into four pieces... and each of those pieces are hidden somewhere in those dimensions and eras..."

Suddenly, the Controller found the strength he had to stand up from his throne and walk towards the door. "How fortuitous. Perhaps this may be the incentive I need... to initiate my Ultimate Shadow Game..." the Controller mused himself as he walked through the door.

A short time later, the Controller descended down the interior of his cannon and found himself in a chamber filled with hundreds of hundreds of glowing green tubes, five of them containing silhouettes of human-like shapes inside. Their mouths were clamped over with breathing masks, and each breath they took produced bubbles that rose to the surface of the glowing green liquid. The Controller switched each of the tubes off, and the liquid drained away from the bottom.

"Now then... I have kept the five of you safe from the darkness of the Void... and now it is time that you paid the debt that you have all promised me..." the Controller said to the quintuplet of dark beings. "...so wake up, my minions... your time for your revenge... has come..."

When the last of the liquid drained away, the eyes of the silhouettes opened, each one glowing a sinister light.
