Background: Young Warren Currian was born on the Planet Santulla, under the rule of a Kalleran King named Paleuro Matlan. Santulla was a small planet, inhabited by hot springs, homes built in-mountain, and fair labor for its people. At first glance any pilot, trader, or smuggler would consider a neutral system to be a cakewalk when conducting their respective professions. However, hundreds of years prior to Kalleran rule, Santulla was once a breeding ground for Rancor beasts. Their titan sized forms dominated every corner of the planet until a resistance cell of Weequay species went take control of Santulla on the eve of a Black Sun invasion.
A planetary bombardment sent almost every Rancor exposed into a bloody grave. In the present day, even during the early rising of the Trade Federation, neither Rancor nor Weequay soldier upset the balance of Santulla. Stories spoke of the Kalleran King facing down the two surviving Rancors hidden deep within the planet, and built an entirely new society for lifeforms to live in peace.
At the age of 8, Warren was chosen to be the King's cup bearer during the brutal season of summer beginnings. He learned Santulla was on the cusp of being transformed into a city-wide society, having the resources to sell hyperspace equipment to traders and pilots on the cheap scale. At the same time however, there were moments Warren wished he could drink until he forgot the day before. One evening, three of King Matlan's guards pulled Warren out of bed and was brought over to his underground interrogation wing. What lied before the both of them was a member of the Banking Clan named Challis Tamoor, his wife Guanicca, and his six daughters. Chaliss was charged for selling hyperdrive blueprints to the Separatists. Considering it a betrayal, Matlan only saw fit to execute him.
During the early stages of the Clone Wars, Paleuro grew paranoid over both his wealth and his keen eye for administrative pupils, knowing one day either the Republic or the CIS would arrive to take it all away from him. He tasked Warren to pick any of the six daughters of his choosing; a token for his service. Warren hesitated, and his young mind weighed down even more when given an electrostaff hard won from a Magna Guard.
"We do not have all day, young Currian. Your family highly expects you to further your lineage, and this is my way of accelerating the process. Think about what will happen to Santulla if the sentence is not passed. Do you want Battle Droids to destroy your home, their capitol ships in our skies? Decide quickly so we can prepare ourselves for the inevitability."
Looking upon a downtrodden Chaliss, Warren did not envy the life of a Muun. The Intergalactic Banking Clan, though never claimed to be neutral, did business on both sides of any conflict surging in the galaxy. Up until this point, Warren had training with blasters but preferred to pouring drinks for his grace rather than cleave off traitors. For the first time in his servitude, he defied Matlan's orders by tossing the Separatist weapon to the side.
Droids were one thing, but for the rest of his life Warren would always be conflicted with what lies behind a person's eyes. Livid and humiliated, he stripped him of his "elevated" status and kept him prisoner. No one knew what became of Chaliss and his family. Warren nearly retched at the thought, but isolation strayed him out of thought and time.
The cell he was thrown in was silent, primitive with only liquefied food to prevent from being malnourished. There were no prisoners screaming or indication what happened above the surface; psychologically taxing for someone who was highly sociable. It wasn't until the age of sixteen the Empire decided to pay a little visit to Santulla when rumors spoke of an uprising against the waning King.
Droids couldn't shake his conviction, the few Jedi who visited before couldn't influence him for his wares. It all came down to brute force. For the first time in the eight years of his captivity, the cell doors finally opened, revealing six Stormtroopers and a towering presence covered in black...
"The Silent Cisterns are no place for a loyal servant of Santulla." Darth Vader spoke. "Warren Currian... rise."
It was this simple command that compelled him to break the bonds of Santullan servitude, and embrace the future that was the Empire. Coming into his 20s, his Imperial career varied from hunting down Clone remnants still in hiding, or preparing space sieges against the Rebellion. As Lord Vader hunted down any lost Jedi left in the galaxy, Warren snuffed out forsaken lightsabers to be taken back to the Emperor.
Serving under several officers from Star Destroyers Bastellan, Harbinger, and the Palladin, Warren's quick decision making came in handy fighting against the Rebellion. His reputation in the Imperial Navy was a mixed bag, mostly admired by Stormtroopers. Too few Imperial officers made the bold move joining the firefight, but during an evacuation on the Planet Tancreddi, Warren took it upon himself to lead a garrison of Stormtroopers to stop a traitor to the Empire. Wearing the armor of a Shadow Trooper was invigorating to say the least.
When the Death Star plans were stolen and the full might of the battle station was yet to be determined, Warren had completed over 400 combat missions, collecting lost Jedi artifacts and took the leap into the fires of war when called for for it. His initiative took him places, one standing before the Imperial Admiralty Board on the Death Star itself. Governor Tarkin led the proceedings, spoke highly of Warren's devotion to the Empire and knew when to get his hands dirty. As a reward, the Regional Governors unanimously agreed to promote Warren to "Admiral." The honor came at a steep price, though.
The Emperor had foreseen a planet unmarked on any star chart: Kairotetch. The force had a strong presence there, but it was neither linked to the Jedi or Sith, but in-between the two. The Grey Path. Warren knew almost nothing of the Jedi prior to their downfall during Order 66. In either case, Tarkin ordered him to go into unknown space to find Kairotetch, and establish a blockade for Lord Vader to arrive.
(Side Facts)
-When promoted to "Admiral", Warren was presented an Imperial Cruiser of his choosing. The Shadow Anchor was half the size of the Executor; Lord Vader's ship. On the Emperor's word, the Empire spared no expense building the cruiser for a politically sensitive incursion that was Kairotetch.
-During the waning days of his rule, King Matlan wasn't going to willingly give up Santulla without a fight. He proved his worth against one of Lord Vader's Stormtroopers wielding a green lightsaber. Vader grew impatient of the King's persistent insolence so he force choked him until his head exploded before the people.
-Long before the Empire showed up to Santulla, the Emperor had a vision of a rare Kyber crystal that could decimate the most skilled swordsman; Ghostfire. The vision showed a three tiered temple that mirrored the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, but for Grey Jedi Knights.
-Warren never returned to Santulla, never saw the reason why. As to what came of the Tamoor daughters, he came upon one of them in a medical facility in the Fendril System. Sarley Tamoor was her name. The rest of her family was said to be "consumed" by a sleeping giant back on Santulla.
-The Shadow Anchor was pulled by Kairotetch's gravitational field, sending Warren and his crew into a devastating free fall. Only he and one other officer survived.
-Mandalorian Argus Raish is the first person to meet Warren. Both have a shootout during a sandstorm.
