Two Months Later…
Today was Gillian's first time back at work in months. Well back at the actual Lightman Group since they found out about the placenta previa. Thankfully she had not had any more complications since the initial scare, probably because the only way she was allowed to work was in her house if not in her bed. so Cal had insisted she do the payroll from home and as much as Gillian hated payroll, if it meant Sophie was safe and sound she would do anything for her little girl.
Gillian looked at herself in the mirror one final time. She had actually managed to find a black dress that fit over her thirty-seven week bump and paired it with a black hat and a broom for a witch costume. She saw Cal come up behind her from her view in the mirror, "Well if it isn't my beautiful witch."
Gillian turned around to look at him in his normal apparel, "And what are you supposed to be? A skeptical emotionally distant scientist that obsesses over facial twitches?"
"Right you are love. You know I've never been into the whole Halloween thing," said Cal taking her hand, "I decided to go as myself. Mainly I'm going because I own the place hosting the party."
Gillian chuckled, "Well I think you make a cute Cal Lightman."
"Loker said he's been planning his costume for weeks. I'm afraid to know what he's come up with this year," chuckled Cal lightly. Loker was known for having crazy Halloween costumes in the past including the Mad Hatter, Shrek, and Sully from Monsters, Inc. When the couple arrived at the Lightman Group, everyone was more than happy to see Gillian.
Ria came over all dressed up in her flapper costume, "Gill it's so great to see you! How have you been feeling?"
"Pretty good. Thankfully nothing has happened since the initial scare," said Gillian.
"Hello Dr. Lightman, it's nice to see you back Dr. Lightman," said Loker coming over in a Santa suit with bunny ears.
"Loker what the?" asked Cal confusedly.
"He's the Easter Claus," said Ria clarifying for the bewildered couple.
"That's honestly the most…creative costume you've ever come up with," said Gillian when she found the right word, "So what did everyone do for Halloween before the party."
"Took my nieces and nephews out trick or treating," said Loker.
"Oh wow you actually went out in public like that?" asked Cal.
"This was my first plan of the night," said Ria just as the DJ put some music on.
"What do you say Torres, you want to see if you can bust a move like they did in the twenties?" asked Loker already dancing to the music.
"I don't see why not," she chuckled following Loker out onto the dance floor. Cal and Gillian hung back and watched their employees dance the night way until the DJ put a slow song.
Cal held out his hand, "You want to my lovely witch?"
Gillian smiled and took his hand, following him out onto the dance floor. They both wrapped their arms loosely around each other and swayed with the music. When the song was over, Cal and Gillian took hands to make their way back to their original place when Gillian stopped suddenly.
"You alright love?" asked Cal.
Loker and Ria came over to the couple where Loker slipped and fell on the wet floor. He tried to observe what he just slipped on and asked, "Why's the floor wet?"
"Did someone spill punch or something?" asked Ria helping Loker up.
Gillian shook her head no, "It's me," she said softly.
"What?" asked Cal looking like he was about ready to have a heart attack.
"It's me. My water broke," said Gillian, "Sophie's ready to come."
