A/N- I just want to thank you all for your reviews. They mean a lot, and I've tried to incorporate what some people have said. Love you all!
Sabrina wordlessly left her room to the squealing Daphne and the still-gaping fairy-boy. She slipped out the hall window and climbed out onto the roof. She couldn't be Puck's true love, couldn't deal with this right now. She needed to be focused on her parents, they needed to wake up. As the days she was here grew in number, she realized that even though the mystery shrouding her parent's whereabouts was gone, they were still not with her. And there was no way in hell she could handle meeting Puck's parents right now while her own were still comatose.
Daphne, still super excited about the fact that her sister had found true love, looked over at Puck, expecting him to be as happy as she was. To her delight, the boy was red in the face and speechless! She knew they were meant to be. Her sister was tempermental with everyone, true, but Daphne had never seen anyone who could get her so tongue-tied and riled up like Puck could. She quietly slipped out the door to tell her parents about what had happened. They were really good listeners, and by telling them what was going on, the little brunette hoped that they would be all caught up so when they woke up everything would be as if they had never been gone.
Puck, who was indeed red in the face and speechless, thought he was having what Granny Relda called a "panic attack." His heart was racing, and he was freaking out. He had forgotten to breathe for a while, so now he was gasping for air. He had to get out of the house for a bit. Seeing the window, he jumped out into the night sky, wings popping out at the last possible second to stop his fall.
All Sabrina saw from her curled up hiding place in the shadows next to the very same window was Puck jumping out at full speed. She stood up in a rush, thinking it was a suicide attempt. Fear squeezed her heart. She didn't want Puck to die! And was she that bad that he had to kill himself to get away from her? God, he lived four-thousand years and now he decides to kill himself. To her surprise, his wings popped out at the last second to catch his hurtling body, and he swooped up high into the stars, a breathtaking sight.
Sabrina wanted to slap him for scaring her like that. No way she was in love!
She took this moment to study her supposed true love. His wings were pink, yes, something Sabrina always made fun of him for. But they were also beautiful, glittering sparkles and translucent veins intricately swirled in complicated designs. The moon's light caused an eerie blue glow to shine through the film parts of his wings, making his shadow look otherworldly and enigmatic, pulling her towards him. Sabrina couldn't deny that there was something purely magical about Puck. He made her wish for her childhood with her parents, one where magic and enchanted forests were entirely possible.
Puck turned at that moment, catching Sabrina studying him with an expression that was clearly one of attraction. For some reason, that made him proud.
"Wow, look who's already in love. It actually works out, cuz now I have all the time in the world, so don't expect me to be all nice to you all of a sudden cuz we're gonna make babies someday, hopefully in at least another couple thousand years. I like pranking you."
Sabrina narrowed her eyes. "I do NOT want to make babies with you, you toad! But you can't wait forever, you know. I'm growing up. Sooner or later you're going to be eating your words and proposing, so ha!" Sabrina shot back, not really making sense, but entirely too angry to care.
"Actually, we do have forever. I'm not growing up unless you want to, and you're not growing up unless I want to, so you're gonna have to wait a while until we are both ready. Which will be never, since I NEVER will give up being fifteen." Puck looked at her smugly, landing softly beside her on the roof.
Sabrina's mouth dropped open. "I CAN'T GROW UP UNLESS YOU WANT TO? WHAT BULLCRAP!"
Puck blinked in shock. Sabrina never swore, not once since she had come to live with them. Yes, that wasn't a horrible one, but it was still much worse than she had ever designed to use.
"Well, that's what happens when you break the standing contract. Now you're my new contract, but I'm pretty sure the only way to break it is death since there already is supposed…" Puck shuddered, "true love." Canis explained it to me."
Sabrina sputtered for a second, then sat slowly back down. Puck settles next to her, his legs lazily dangling off the roof.
"Puck, I don't want to be fifteen for another couple thousand years. I want to be human, I want to experience life as a mortal. As much as I really do love magic being real, knowing that there are things we can't explain, that there is more… I don't want it to affect how I live my life. And marrying you… that would mean magic is definitely affecting my life."
Puck gazed out into the sky, watching the stars so intently Sabrina wondered if he had even heard her. She was about to ask when he spoke.
"Look, Brina, all I had ever known is this life of royalty my parents had made for me. I felt trapped. I was the son they were never proud of, the one always screwing up. They had told me from a young age that I was gonna be king, rule everything. I didn't want that responsibility, so I acted out, staying a child for as long as I wanted. That was part of the reason Mom made the contract, so she wouldn't have a little seven year old on her hands forever. The contract forced me to meet with Moth every so often, with my father there of course." Puck paused there, looking over at Sabrina to gauge her expression.
Sabrina cleared her throat. "My childhood may not have been filled with magic, but I had two loving parents, an amazing little sister I love, and New York City, my favorite place in the world."
Puck smiled a little. "I know. The kingdom of Fey is reached through Central Park. There is a tree, and Fey, or people who know about Fey and wish to visit, not to harm, can slip between the branches and find themselves in my kingdom. I used to sneak out all the time and fly through the city, between buildings with night making me almost invisible. No one in that city looks up, you know. Anyway… I saw you one time, with Daphne. You were in a small room in a huge building."
Sabrina sucked in a breath. "Our apartment. I didn't see you, though."
"Yeah, I was careful. I watched you guys talking and brushing each other's hair a little while. I was thirteen at the time, and you were younger than me. I knew it was you two when you walked in, but if I had said anything and it got back to Titania, she might've fired Blue, the security guard who lets me out."
Sabrina's eyes widened in shock, her head reeling from the fact that her life had been touched by magic, she just didn't know it. "So why are you telling me now, before we go see Titania, the person you didn't want to know?"
Puck smiled mischievously. "I know you won't tell."
Sabrina shoved him. "You don't know anything, Pea-Brain."
Puck's eyes lit up. He was comfortable with this. He knew how to tease and prank. It was the mushy talk that had him second-guessing himself. "Oh yeah, Dog-Breath? Try this out for size." With that, he grabbed Sabrina ankle and shot up high into the sky.
"IF YOU DROP ME, IT'S THE LAST THING YOU'LL DO!" Sabrina yelled up at him.
"Oops." Puck lets go of her ankle. Sabrina rushed towards the ground, screaming and trying to kick Puck. Puck rushed underneath her, laughing maniacally.
He caught her in his arms, and Sabrina gasped for air as she felt his warm, hard chest against her body, feeling safe and hating Puck at the same time.
As soon as Puck put her back down on the roof, she wheeled on him with fire and ice in her blue eyes. "I told you it'd be the last thing you do, you frog-legged moron!"
Puck threw back his head and let out a laugh, glad he could still make her eyes light up like that. He couldn't lose his touch because of a little mushy talk! He was the Trickster King! "Oh, you are funny, Sabrina Grimm. But wrong. I think you might want to pack first, you are visiting royalty in…" He looked at the clock visible through the window in the hallway. Seeing it said nine, he did some math on his fingers. "Twelve hours." His eyes lit up mischievously. "Wear super casual clothes. Fairies hate snobbery. Jeans and a t-shirt should do." With that, the fairy-boy catapulted back into the sky, whooping as he flew over the small town, filled with more magic and possibility than Sabrina had ever imagined possible.
A/N- So… any guesses on Puck's little prank? Haha, it's pretty obvious. Love you all, remember to review follow, etc. Feel free to PM me as well! 3
