Author's note: Here it is, the next chapter! Things are heating up!

It had been a week since he'd last seen Aria, it had been a week since he'd last touched her. Oh, how he longed to touch her again, but he knew he couldn't.

Ezra snapped out of it as his lawyer asked, "Mr. Fitz, are you even listening?"

Ezra sighed and replied, "No, I am not, Mr. Martin. Maybe when you actually have something new to report to me, then i'll start listening."

Now it was Mr. Martin's turn to sigh as he explained, "Look, Mr. Fitz, I really think you need to reconsider all of this. You've told me everything, there is only so much I can do for you if you won't actually let me help you. I think it might be best if you reconsider getting out on bail."

Ezra shook his head and said, "I've already told you no like a hundred times, I won't do it. It's a waste of time anyways, you really think they'll let a billionaire out on bail, knowing I can just fly off to some faraway country in my private jet? The way I see it, the sooner you do your job, the sooner i'll be out of here. Did you do what I asked you to do?"

Mr. Martin nodded and replied, "I did. I checked up on it and they said they were very close. I'm waiting to hear back from them friday the latest."

Ezra got up and said, "Well, then let's hope they actually come through." He then proceeded to walk to the door, but then turned around and asked, "How is she?"

Mr. Martin seemed to weigh his words and then replied, "Apparently she hasn't left the apartment since she got back from the police station. According to your housekeeper, she hasn't even left the bed. Your housekeeper leaves trays of food by the bed, but they remain untouched. So it's fair to say she's not doing so well, so maybe you should do everything you can to make sure you get back to her, no?"

Ezra looked worried after hearing all that and said, "Could you get a message to her? Tell her i'm sorry. Tell her I miss her and that I love her. That I am doing everything I am able to do to make sure I get back to her as soon as possible."

As Ezra walked through the door, accompanied by a prison guard, he added, "Pink peonies, send her pink peonies, they're her favorite."

Aria opened her eyes and yawned, the more she slept, the more tired she felt. She looked at her phone, it was 8 PM, she had slept through another day again. And yet again, another message from Ryan checking up on her, she let out a sigh of exasperation as she tossed her phone to the other side of the bed.

She tried sitting up, but fell down again onto the pillow because she felt dizzy. Her head was spinning, she felt awful. She tried getting up again and swung her legs off the side of the bed. Leaning forward, resting her head in her hands, she said to herself, "Well, I guess that's what you get for surviving on nothing but yoghurt and sleeping pills for a week."

Aria groaned as the sound of the doorbell made her head throb even more. She didn't feel like getting up, but after the doorbell had rung 5 times in a row, she felt like choking the person on the other end of the door.

Unsteady on her feet, she made her way over to the front door. She opened the door and was eye to eye with a delivery guy holding pink peonies. She noticed the man looking her up and down, after which she realized she was wearing nothing but one of Ezra's shirts. She also realized she probably looked horrible, not having showered in a week.

The delivery guy looked her in the eyes and asked, "Aria Montgomery? These are for you", handed her the flowers and left.

Aria quickly closed the door and turned away from it, as she noticed there was a note attached to the flowers. She opened up the note and read it.

She squished the flowers against her chest as she burst into tears. She wished he was there right now, she just wanted him to hold her in his arms and make all this pain go away.

She felt like the whole weight of the world was on top of her, so she made her way back to the bedroom.

As she was walking past Ezra's study, she heard the phone starting to ring. Her heart beating wildly into her chest as she desperately whispered Ezra's name and rushed over to the phone, dropping the flowers on the floor.

She picked up the phone and carefully asked, "Hello?"

Aria was disappointed to hear that the voice on the other side of the phone wasn't Ezra's. She sighed as she heard a man say, "Hello? Miss Montgomery? This is Mr. Martin, Mr. Fitz's lawyer. I just wanted to ask if you've received Ezra's message?"

Aria nodded, even though she knew Mr. Martin couldn't see her through the phone, and replied, "The flowers with the note? Yes, I just got them." Then without giving him any time to say anything else, she boldly asked, "When can I see him?"

It got really quiet on the other side of the phone for a minute, until Mr. Martin broke the silence by saying, "You can't."

Aria shouted out in a burst of frustration, "What do you mean, I can't?

Mr. Martin felt uncomfortable as he explained, "Mr. Fitz is only able to speak to me."

Aria felt confused as she asked, "What? That can't be legal! They can't do that."

Mr. Martin scraped his throat and replied, "It is legal, because it's what Mr. Fitz wants. He has a list of people who are allowed to see or speak to him. Currently, I am the only one on that list. He does not wish to add anyone else to it.

Aria felt rage boiling up inside of her, she screamed, "That son of a bitch!", and hung up the phone.

She starting pacing around his office, yelling out loud, "I miss you!? I love you!? I'm doing everything I can to make sure I get back to you!? Argh! You fucking asshole!"

She walked over to the drink cart in Ezra's office, poured herself a glass of bourbon and tossed it back. Her hands were shaking, she couldn't manage to calm herself down. She needed to get out of this place. But she couldn't leave looking like this, she looked horrible. She walked out of his office, stepping on the flowers and crushing them.

She walked over to the bathroom and took a long shower, after which she did her hair, making them fall in long cascading curls. She went all out with her make-up and to make sure her eyes popped, she did a smokey eyes effect and added some fake eyelashes.

After that she walked over to the closet and decided on what to wear. She put on a short black body hugging dress that had a low cut back with criss-cross straps. The dress also tied around the neck and was cut pretty deep in front, so it gave her a lot of cleavage. She was looking for some jewelry when she came across the heart necklace Ezra had given her. She hadn't worn it since her arrest, when they had forced her to remove all jewelry. She didn't know what to do with it now. She decided to leave the necklace for now and just wore some diamond teardrop earrings. Last but not least she put on some black stiletto heels.

She put her things in a silver clutch and made her way downstairs to take a cab. When she got in the cab, the driver asked her, "Where to?"

Her mind blanked, where did she want to go to? She thought of Ezra, she wanted to go to him, see him. Then her anger from before resurfaced as she realized Ezra didn't want to see her, so she said the one place her mind went to, "Nine Circles of Hell, please."

When Aria arrived at the club, she noticed a very long line, one she really didn't want to stand in. She arched her back and sexily walked over to the entrance, hoping she'd just walk right in, but the bouncer stopped her and asked, "Are you on the guest list?"

Aria confidently replied, "I don't need to be, I'm Aria, I'm Ezra Fitz's girlfriend." She was taken aback as the bouncer laughed out loud and replied, "Yeah right, back of the line please."

All of a sudden she heard a voice behind her saying, "It's alright, Bruce, Aria's with me."

The bouncer nodded, said, "Okay, Mr. Kingston", and opened the door for them. As Aria passed the bouncer she gave him a in-your-face look. When they were inside, she turned to Wren and said, "Thanks for that", then turned away from him and headed straight for the bar.

Suddenly she felt somebody yank her arm, so she halted to a stop and turned, "Ouch dude! What do you think you're doing?"

Wren shook his head and replied, "Me? What am I doing? What are YOU doing?"

Aria scoffed whilst gesturing her hands, "Well, obviously I was going to go get a drink."

Wren looked her up and down and said, "Judging on your current behavior and your inappropriate choice of wardrobe, i'm assuming you've already had enough to drink."

Aria rolled her eyes and replied, "What are you, my dad? What's it to you anyways? We don't even know each other."

Wren explained, "No, not really, but we both have a mutual acquaintance. I believe you just called him your boyfriend, which is somewhat shocking to me, but judging from what he just did for you, I'm assuming it's legit. And you know, I don't know... It's just that, If I were to ever go to jail because i was stupid enough to confess to a murder I didn't commit to protect my girlfriend, I'd hope she wouldn't be getting drunk at bars, trying to hook up with other men."

Aria felt herself getting angrier by the second as she yelled, "Fuck you! You don't know anything about me! I don't betray the people I love, that is all him."

Before Wren could say anything else, Aria turned away from him and walked over to the bar. She ordered 2 shots of tequila and rolled her eyes as she was joined again by Wren.

Wren stood next to Aria, gave her a sideways glance and asked, "Are you sure you want to do that? Before you know it, you'll end up waking up in some stranger's bed."

Aria sardonically replied, "Well, it worked out so perfectly for me last time, so why not?" After which she downed one of the shots.

Wren turned to Aria and asked curiously, "How did he betray you?"

Aria replied matter-of-factly, "He doesn't want to be with me."

Wren looked confused as he asked, "Where did you get that information, did he tell you that? I mean, the guy just basically traded places with you so you wouldn't have to go to jail. Doesn't seem like the thing to do if you want to end things."

Aria looked sad as she said, "He doesn't want to see me or talk to me. Why would he do that if he actually wanted to be with me? Why would he refuse to get out on bail?"

Wren raised an eyebrow and asked, "You really think they would let him out on bail?"

Aria shrugged and replied, "Why not? He's innocent."

Wren shook his head and said, "But he confessed."

Aria got a bit upset and raised her voice a bit as she half-yelled, "But he didn't do it!"

Wren leaned a bit closer as he explained, "But as far as the judge knows, Ezra is saying that he did it. So they're not going to let him out on bail, because he's a billionaire and therefore a flight risk. The only way for him to get out right now, is for him to recant his confession. You know what that means? It means they will turn their attention to the person they have the most proof against."

Aria looked lost in thought as she quietly whispered, "...me..."

Wren nodded and put his hand on Aria's shoulder as he said, "Exactly. He is not doing this to hurt you, Aria. He is doing this to protect you."

Aria shook her head and asked, "Then why doesn't he just tell me that? Why doesn't he put me on his stupid list of visitors so we can see each other? Why doesn't he just call me?"

Wren shrugged and replied, "That I can't answer... Maybe he's afraid he'll waver once he sees you? Maybe it's just easier on him this way?"

Aria rubbed one of her temples as she felt a headache coming on. She scoffed, "This is so fucked up", and then tossed back the other shot of tequila.

Wren frowned and said, "You know, you really shouldn't drink on an empty stomach".

Aria raised an eyebrow and asked, "And what makes you say that?"

Now it was Wren's turn to raise an eyebrow and he replied, "Well, you appear thinner than last time i saw you, you're much paler and you've got dark rings under your eyes."

Aria was taken aback by his response and said, "Wow! You must be a real hit with the ladies!" Then she turned towards the bartender to order more drinks.

Wren signaled the bartender to not take Aria's order, so the bartender turned back around.

Aria was pissed off as she asked, "What the fuck is it with you rich men and your innate need to keep me from drinking!? You know what, this isn't the only bar, so if you'll excuse me, I'll go drink somewhere else". And before Wren could say anything else, she walked out of there.

When Aria got outside, she started walking, until she was right in front of the bar where she had met Matt. She looked back at Nine Circles of Hell and because she noticed Wren leaving the club, she hurried inside the bar.

It still looked as outdated as before and she didn't exactly have nice memories here, but it was the only way she could try and avoid Wren.

She took a seat at the bar and ordered a dirty Martini. When she got her drink, she took a sip and heard a familiar voice speak.

She casually peeked over her shoulder as she noticed a booth in the back, in it a bunch of men, of which two she recognized. They were the shady guys that had approached her about Matt.

Aria focused all her energy on eavesdropping and managed to hear the older man say, "You should pay a visit to Dave later tonight, he's late on his payment."

The younger man nodded and replied, "No problem, boss. Just don't pair me up with Kevin again, I do not want a repeat of last time."

A middle-aged man, whom she assumed was Kevin, defended himself by saying, "Hey, that was not my fault. If the guy hadn't started running like that, he wouldn't have run into my fist that hard and he wouldn't have broken his neck. Besides, I took care of it, didn't I?"

The older man sounded upset as he asked, "You think you took care of it? They found the body and as far as I know the girl who can connect us to Matt is still alive."

Aria felt light-headed all of a sudden as she realised they were talking about her. She needed to get out of here.

She put money on the bar to pay for her drink and then got up to walk outside. When she was almost at the door, it swung open and Wren looked straight at her.

Wren said, too loud for Aria's taste, "There you are! I've been looking for you. Seriously, A-".

Before Wren could finish his sentence, Aria's lips were on his, shutting him up before he could say her name. Wren pulled back, confused, but before he could say anything else, Aria leaned in to whisper in his ear, "I need you to not speak and just listen. Look like i'm whispering something really dirty in your ear. Don't look at them, but the men in the booth in the back are really dangerous and they know who I am. I need to get out of here without them realizing I am here."

Aria was taken aback as Wren aggressively pulled her waist against his body. He bent down and started kissing her neck as he whispered between kisses, "Okay, in a minute I will stop this and then you will put your arms around my neck, put your legs around my waist as I lift you and start kissing me. Make sure your hair falls to the front so it'll cover your face."

The second Wren stopped kissing Aria's neck, she did what she was told. Looking like a couple in a heated make-out session, Wren walked out the bar backwards, fumbling a bit to open the door. Once they were a safe distance from the bar, Wren stopped the kissing and put Aria down.

Wren could tell Aria was still shaken up, so he tried to lighten the mood and joked, "Wow, you really weren't holding back, I didn't realize you wanted to kiss me so badly."

Aria raised an eyebrow and replied sarcastically, "Yup, all part of my master plan. You have no idea how many billionaires I've kissed with my "these men are going to murder me" routine."

Wren had a troubled look on his face as he asked, "Wait, what? What do you mean they want to murder you?"

Aria sighed and replied, "It's a really long story."

Wren put his hand on the small of her back as he urged her to walk with him, towards his car, as he said, "Come on, let's get out of here. Let me drive you home, you can tell me all about it."

When Aria and Wren arrived at Ezra's apartment, Aria had just finished her explanation.

Wren parked the car, turned to Aria and said, "Wow, that is pretty intense. I'm so sorry."

Aria shrugged and replied, "It's not your fault, so..."

Before Wren could say anything else, Aria asked, "Do you want to come up? Have a drink?"

Wren was a bit taken aback by Aria's question and replied, "Uhm, sure? Only on one condition though... You eat something first."

Aria giggled and said, "Fine, but you're cooking."

When Aria and Wren walked into the apartment, Aria took Wren to the kitchen and walked over to the fridge. She opened it and said, "Score! I can make us margaritas."

Wren raised an eyebrow and Aria added, "I know, after I've eaten. But I make a mean margarita."

Wren stood in front of the fridge and admitted, "So... I don't actually know how to cook. I have people for that."

Aria laughed and replied, "It's fine. There's some frozen pizzas in the freezer, we can just put those in the oven."

After their pizzas were ready and after Aria had made the margaritas, they sat on the couch in the living room to eat and drink, while watching tv.

Wren shook his head at Aria, who took a bite of her pizza slice, and said, "Honestly, you are a monster."

Aria rolled her eyes and replied, failing to keep herself from laughing, "Oh em gee, get over it, it's just pinneapple."

Wren laughed and said, "Fine. As long as I don't have to eat it, I guess I'll just shut up about it."

Aria lightly sighed and admitted, "This is nice. Just eating, drinking, talking... not having to... you know... thank you."

Wren smiled and replied, "Anytime."

They sat there, talking, drinking and watching tv, until they eventually fell asleep on the couch.

Aria's mouth felt as dry as sandpaper and her head was throbbing as she woke up. She smiled as she saw a glass of water on the table in front of her, with 2 aspirins next to it. She sat upright, took the 2 aspirins and downed the entire glass of water.

She looked up as she heard Wren say, "Good morning. You really do make a mean margarita, my head is killing me. I went for a swim, always helps, I hope you don't mind."

Aria looked up at Wren, who was standing there in nothing but a towel. Water droplets from his hair falling down his bare chest. She noticed she was staring, so she snapped herself out of it, looked down and replied, "Nope, it's fine. Fine, fine, fine."

Wren walked over to Aria and sat down next to her and asked, "Can we talk?"

Aria swallowed and replied, "Uh, sure."

Wren sighed and said, "I want to apologize."

Aria looked confused, "Apologize, for what?"

Wren admitted, "For how I treated you last night, at Nine Circles. I was pretty hard on you. I misjudged you. Even before last night I didn't really think that much of you after I found out about Ezra pleading guilty so they'd let you go. I thought you had somehow tricked or manipulated him into doing it. Now I realize that it wasn't your fault, it was completely his choice. I actually get why he did it..."

Aria felt an intense energy coming from Wren, thinking he was going to kiss her, so she quickly tried to distract him, "How did you know Ezra was in jail because he took my place? His arrest hasn't been on the news, nothing about this murder actually, which is strange to say the least. So how did you find out?"

Wren's look changed from intense to uncomfortable as he admitted, "Same way I know almost everything about Ezra's life and the same way he knows almost everything about mine... We're business rivals... We both have private investigators tailing each other."

Aria felt herself getting sick. She swallowed hard as she asked Wren, dreading the answer, "So if my boyfriend's private investigator has you followed almost 24/7, does that mean he was following you last night? As in, my boyfriend's private investigator saw you making out with me in public, then saw you take me to my boyfriend's apartment and hasn't seen you leave yet?"

The look on Wren's face was all the confirmation she needed.

On a scale of 1-10, how badly do you want the next chapter? What do you think about this whole Wren thing? Can he be trusted? Let me know, review! ;)
