Author's note: Except for one person, nobody likes Wren... but come on everyone, what's a story without a little drama? ;-) For those who haven't seen it yet, I posted a picture spoiler for this chapter on my Twitter EnchantingFitz, so check it out ;) Also, a big thanks for the Twitter love, it means a lot!

Aria could feel the electricity between them as Wren stared into her eyes. She swallowed hard and then asked, "What are you doing?"

Wren smirked as he shrugged and replied, "Nothing. Why do you ask?"

Aria raised an eyebrow and said, "Really? Because it kind of feels like you're about to kiss me... Are you?"

Wren inched closer and answered, "No, i'm not going to kiss you... unless you ask me to."

Aria leaned into Wren, until her lips were mere millimeters from his. She looked Wren deep into his eyes, smirked and then asked, "Now why would I do that?"

Then Aria moved herself backwards into the water, stood up and got out of the jacuzzi. She shivered as the cold air hit her heated body, but her annoyance with Wren was enough to keep her going as she made her way to the terrace doors.

When she got to the terrace, Aria heard Wren shout, "Aria, please stop!"

Aria turned around to see Wren running after her. He sighed and explained, "I'm sorry, okay? I shouldn't have done or said that, it's just... I wish you had met me first... I feel like we have a connection and I can't do anything about it, because you're Ezra's. If I would have been in the club the night you met, at least I could have tried winning you over."

Aria slapped Wren's cheek with the palm of her hand and angrily said, "THAT is for thinking I am some PRIZE you and Ezra get to compete over. And by the way, I am a person, not somebody's property, i'm not Ezra's and definitely not yours."

Wren winced as he touched his now smarting cheek and admitted, "For a girl you can sure pack a punch."

Aria exclaimed, "I'm leaving", turned around and walked inside the house, towards the stairs. Just as she put one foot on the first step, she was pulled back by Wren.

He hugged her tight as he said apologeticially, "I'm sorry, about everything, please don't leave."

Aria wriggled out of his hold, pushed him back and asked in exasperation, "Dude, what the hell is your problem? Have you no boundaries whatsoever?"

Wren sighed and replied, "Like I said, I'm sorry, okay? You're completely right, I shouldn't have implied you're anyone's property. I apologize if I made you feel uncomfortable, that was never my intention... It's just that I like you and I think you're beautiful. But you can't deny that there's something here... it's not all just in my head, is it?"

Aria put her hand on Wren's cheek and said, "I can't allow myself to even think about that. I'm in love with Ezra and even being here with you right now, feels like a giant betrayal. He's in jail because of me... for me... I don't know what he's thinking or feeling right now. Maybe he understands what happened and we'll come out of this stronger. Maybe he'll never forgive me and we'll be over. But until I know that, nothing between you and I could ever happen, whether or not there might be something here."

Wren nodded and replied, "I understand... I will back off. Just please, don't feel like you need to leave, you're much safer here, especially with those guys still out there, okay?"

Aria was about to object, but she realized Wren was right, so she just smiled and said, "Okay, thank you. If you don't mind, i'm just going to go upstairs and lay down for a bit."

Then Aria walked up the stairs and went to her room. As soon as she closed the door, she leaned back into it, letting out a giant sigh.

Ezra was pacing inside his cell, his mind going places he didn't want to go, driving himself crazy. He decided he couldn't take it anymore, so he called out to a guard, who came over to his cell.

Ezra seemed determined as he asked, "I need to call my lawyer, it's pretty urgent, can you make that happen, please?"

The guard nodded, replied, "I'll see what I can do", then walked away.

After what seemed like 5 hours, but what were mere 15 minutes, the guard returned, opened the door to Ezra's cell and escorted him to a private room with a phone on the table.

Ezra thanked the man and thought to himself that he was very fortunate he was so rich, he knew that it was the only reason he was getting such preferential treatment.

He sat at the table, picked up the handset and dialed the number of Mr. Martin.

After a few seconds, Mr. Martin's assistent picked up and transfered the call.

He heard a bit of a bitter undertone in Mr. Martin's voice as he opened with, "Mr. Fitz. What can I do for you?"

Ezra tried to hide the desperation in his voice, but failed miserably as he said, "It's driving me a bit crazy... has he left the apartment yet?"

Mr. Martin voiced his concern as he asked, "Do you really want to know?"

Ezra shook his head, even though he was aware Mr. Martin couldn't actually see him. Ezra sighed and admitted, "No... but I NEED to."

Mr. Martin divulged, "He was seen leaving the apartment this morning and then returned in the early afternoon... only to leave again shortly after... with Aria and a luggage bag in hand. She is currently at his house. Based on the luggage she brought, I'm assuming it's for an extended stay."

Ezra felt his heart shatter into a million pieces as he heard the news. What was going on out there? It was driving him crazy.

Suddenly Mr. Martin asked, "Mr. Fitz? Are you still there?"

Ezra cleared his throat and replied, "Yes, I'm still here... Mr. Martin, I am giving you the go-ahead to get me out on bail, but first I need you to do something for me..."

Ezra could hear the excitement in Mr. Martin's voice as he said, "Of course, Mr. Fitz, anything you say."

Aria had changed into some shorts and a top and had laid down on the bed, looking up at the ceiling, worrying about everything that had happened these last weeks.

Suddenly she was interrupted by a knock on the door, so she got off the bed to open the door. As she was walking over to the door, she looked over to the window and noticed the sky outside had turned dark already. Had she really been laying there worrying for hours?

As she opened the door, she noticed Wren standing there, with a worried look on his face.

Aria frowned at his expression and asked, "Wren? What's wrong?"

Wren weighed his words and then asked cautiously, "Have you checked your cellphone yet?"

Aria shook her head, getting worried, so she walked over to her purse and got out her cellphone. She noticed she had about a hundred missed calls, all from unknown numbers.

She turned to Wren and asked, "What's going on? I don't understand."

Wren sighed and explained, "Ezra's arrest is all over the news. Somehow it got leaked. They're calling it a crime of passion... There's a bunch of pictures of you and Ezra online, I guess they must have figured out who you were somehow, I'm so sorry."

Aria felt like her legs were about to give out, so she went to sit on the bed and looked up Ezra online. Immediately pictures of her and Ezra came across her screen, they looked like paparazzi pictures. News articles ranging from Ezra being a cold-blooded killer to articles saying he was innocent. She and Matt were mentioned in almost all of them. Aria's head started to spin and she threw her phone to the other side of the bed.

Wren crouched in front of Aria, took her hands in his and assured her, "It's going to be okay. We both know he didn't do it, this will pass when everything is cleared up."

Aria nodded and replied, "I really hope you're right..."

Just as Aria wanted to say something else, there was a knock on the door and one of Wren's maids walked in holding an envelope.

The maid looked apologetic as she exclaimed, "I'm sorry for the intrusion, but someone just delivered this note for Miss Montgomery", and she handed the envelope to Aria.

Aria thanked the maid, who then left the room, and looked at the handwriting on the envelope. Her eyes widened as she realized it was Ezra's.

Aria swallowed hard and told Wren, "It's a note from Ezra... this is his handwriting..."

Wren urged Aria with his eyes to open it, which she did.

Aria felt nervous as she pulled out the note card and started reading what it said. She felt her stomach drop and tears started slowly streaming down her face.

Wren frowned worriedly as he went to sit next to Aria on the bed and asked, "Aria, what's wrong?"

Aria was sniffing, trying to hold back more tears as she handed the note to Wren.

Wren took the note carefully and saw what was on it, "I sincerely hope you like your new accommodations. Don't ever come back. You are NOT welcome here anymore."

Wren put his arm around Aria to try and comfort her, "I'm so sorry, Aria. I'm sure he doesn't mean that. Once you explain everything to him, he'll come around."

Aria shook her head and replied, whilst sobbing, "He thinks I betrayed him, just like his first girlfriend... He'll never forgive me. I doubt he'll even give me a chance to explain... If you don't mind, I'd like to be alone right now."

Wren got off the bed as he said, "Of course, I understand completely. If you need anything, just ask."

Aria nodded and watched Wren leave the room, before throwing herself on the bed and started crying from a broken heart.

Wren was walking towards his study as the same maid, who had handed Aria the note from Ezra, came up to him and handed him another envelope with the words, "There was an envelope for you too. I thought it might be best to hand it over when you were alone."

Wren accepted the envelope whilst saying, "Thanks, good thinking", and then walked into his study and closed the door behind him. He opened up the envelope and pulled out the note to read what it said.

Wren scoffed as he read Ezra's words, then tore up the note and threw the pieces in the paper bin next to his desk.

It was a bit after midnight when Aria finally made her way downstairs and headed towards the kitchen. Physically, she was hungry. Mentally, she had no idea whether or not she could keep anything down right now.

As she walked into the kitchen, she saw Wren sitting on a bar stool at the kitchen island, presumably doing some paperwork.

Wren looked up from his papers as he heard someone approaching and smiled as he realized it was Aria. He sounded worried as he asked, "Hey you... How are you feeling?"

Aria shrugged, replied, "I don't know what to feel. One minute I feel everything all at once and I break down, the next I just feel numb", then went to sit on the bar stool next to Wren.

Wren got off his bar stool, hugged Aria firmly while she was sitting on her's and asked, "Do you want me to get you something to drink, to eat, ... ?"

Aria shook her head, and put her arms around Wren, tightening the hug even more. Every time she inhaled, she got more and more intoxicated by his scent, until something took over in her.

She lifted her head of his chest and started unbuttoning his shirt. When his shirt was completely unbuttoned, she ran her hands from his abs up to his chest and then pushed the shirt off his shoulders so that it fell to the ground.

Aria put one of her hands on the back of Wren's neck and pulled his head down so their lips could meet.

Wren looked warily into Aria's eyes as he asked, "Are you sure you want to do this?"

He could see the fire in her eyes as she commanded, "Kiss me."

Wren eagerly obliged and leaned down to kiss her. Aria put her arms around Wren's neck to deepen the kiss.

As their kisses grew more heated, Wren lifted Aria off the bar stool and placed her on the island counter.

Wren pulled down Aria's top to reveal her breasts and started sucking on her nipples. Aria threw back her head with a soft moan and she wrapped her legs around his waist. As Aria pulled him closer, she could feel his protruding erection through the fabrics of their clothing, against her pussy.

Aria slid her hand down, cupped Wren's cock through his pants and gave it a playful squeeze, to let him know what she wanted. Wren groaned at this touch and accidentally bit Aria's nipple a little too hard, which caused her to let out a squeal of surprise.

Aria fell back onto the island counter laughing, but winced as her shoulder his something hard. When she got back up to see what it was, she was startled as the tv in the kitchen turned on.

She reached for the remote control she had landed on and just as she was about to turn the tv back off, she saw a picture of her and Ezra on tv. Then a picture of her and Wren kissing, with the headline "Billionaire Gold Digger".

Wren took the remote control from Aria's hand, turned off the tv and said, "Don't listen to that. Those gossip channels are only looking to create some kind of scandal."

Aria pulled her top back up to cover her breasts, put her hands on Wren's chest to create a bit of distance and admitted, "I can't do this, I'm sorry."

Wren nodded and helped Aria off the island counter. He looked at Aria with a concerned look in his eyes as he asked, "Is there anything I can do?"

Aria shrugged, replied, "Not unless you can turn back time", and then walked back to her room.

The next morning Aria felt hungover as she woke up, though she hadn't had a drop of alcohol last night. She walked over to the curtains and as she opened them, she squinted as the bright sunlight hit her eyes. As her eyes adjusted to the light, they fell onto the person doing laps in the pool outside.

Her stomach fell as it hit her what had actually happened between her and Wren last night. She tried to comfort herself with the thought that she and Ezra were broken up, so it's not like she cheated on him. Then again, her heart still belonged to him, so wasn't it cheating though?

She needed to clear this up, so she made her way downstairs and went out on the terrace. She watched as Wren swam from one side to the other, until he noticed her and made his way over to her.

As Wren walked over to her, she swallowed hard as the sunlight made the water droplets on his shapely body glimmer, which made him look like a swimsuit model.

When Wren reached Aria, he bent down to kiss her on the cheek and then said, "Good morning. How are you feeling today?"

It took a few seconds before Aria's ability to speak came back, but then she replied with, "Good morning... Okay, I think."

Wren smiled and asked, "Do you need anything? I can have my kitchen staff prepare you something to eat, if you're up to it?"

Aria bit her bottom lip as the mention of the word kitchen yet again brought up memories of last night. Then she felt a pang of pain because it also brought up memories of the time she and Ezra had some heated moments in Ezra's kitchen.

Aria pulled herself together and explained, "Maybe later, first I need to talk to you about last night... What happened last night... I never meant for that to happen. I guess I was feeling hurt and alone, so I made an error in judgment. I apologize if I have hurt you in the process. I know how you feel about me and I never meant to lead you on or give you false hope."

Wren put a reassuring hand on Aria's shoulder and admitted, "Aria, when I said yesterday I'd back off, I meant it. The only reason why I went along last night, is because you instigated it. Nothing really happened anyways, so let's just forget it and move on, okay?"

Aria didn't really expect this reaction, so she just nodded. Before she could say anything else, Wren continued, "Anyways, I need to go take a shower, I have a meeting in an hour. If you need anything, just ask the staff. I'll see you later." Then he kissed Aria on the cheek again and made his way inside.

It was late afternoon when Wren came back home from the office. He walked around a bit, until he found Aria sitting on one of the patio lounge chairs outside, reading a book.

He covered Aria's eyes from behind with one hand as he taunted, "I have a surprise for you", and placed a long flat gift box on her lap with his other hand.

Aria grinned as she touched the box and jokingly said, "Definitely a pony."

Wren laughed, removed his hand from Aria's eyes and urged, "Come on, open it."

Aria curiously opened the box for it to reveal a dress. She got up to pull the dress out of the box and gasped as she held it out before her. It was an off-white knee length dress that had a golden shimmer to it and was decorated with golden leaves.

Aria looked at Wren, mouth open and uttered the words, "Wren, this is just... Wow!"

Wren grinned and urged her again, "Check the box again, there's more."

Aria frowned teasingly and then looked in the box again to see the matching shoes and then a small earring box. She turned to Wren and uncomfortably admitted, "This is too much, I can't except this."

Wren smirked and replied in a jokingly sheepish tone, "Yeah, well... I kind of need a favor from you... And I need you to wear that."

Aria raised an eyebrow and teasingly asked, "And what exactly is this favor you're refering to?"

Wren smiled and explained, "Well, I have a business cocktail party at my company tonight and my date cancelled on me, so I was wondering if maybe you would like to accompany me?"

Aria jokingly mocked Wren by saying, "Whaaat!? Wren Kingston, handsome billionaire, got cancelled on by a woman!? How ever could this be!?"

Wren pretended to be hurt by that comment and replied, "Well, it doesn't help if they see you kissing another woman on national television."

Aria smiled awkwardly and caved, "Fine, I'll do it. If only to make up for the fact that all woman have officially given up on you because they're clearly intimidated by me."

Wren smirked and replied, "Clearly... By the way, I was pretty much banking on you saying yes, so there's someone up in your room to do your hair and make-up."

Aria rolled her eyes in fake admonishment at that, but then said, "Tch, okay, fine", and then made her way up to her room.

When they arrived at the business cocktail party and walked in, Aria could feel people's eyes on them. Of course, they were front page news. She tried to shake it off, but the looks she got from most of the women were unfriendly to say the least.

She decided they were not going to get to her, so she stood up straighter and linked her arm through Wren's.

Wren smiled as she did this and they walked around the room, stopping every now and then so Wren could talk to several business men.

Aria's neck was starting to hurt from all the nodding and her mouth was cramping up from all the fake smiling, she needed a break.

Aria leaned into Wren and spoke softly as she said, "I'm going to go get us some drinks, okay?"

Wren nodded and then continued speaking to the men in front of him.

Aria walked over to the bar and had just ordered their drinks as she heard a familiar voice put in her drink order.

She turned towards the person and was now face to face with Spencer. Aria wanted to smile and say hello, but felt some hostility emanating from Spencer, so she refrained from it.

When the bartender put Aria's drinks in front of her and was about to pick them up to return to Wren, Spencer finally spoke with a bitter undertone, "So I guess it's true then... about you and Wren. I guess ruining one billionaire isn't enough."

Aria turned to Spencer and said disbelievingly, "Excuse me!?"

Spencer turned to face Aria and asked arrogantly, "Oh I'm sorry, did you not hear me?"

Aria got in Spencer's face and replied, "Oh no, I heard you just fine, I just don't like what you're implying. I did not ruin anyone."

Spencer raised an eyebrow and stated, "Really? So the fact that Fitz Publishing's stocks have gone down due to him being accused of murdering your ex, doesn't count as ruining someone's career?"

Aria was surprised to hear this news, but bit back, "He is the one who decided to turn himself in, that was never something I wanted. I would never willingly hurt Ezra, I love him."

Spencer scoffed and asked, "Really? Then why are you here with Wren instead of at home with Ezra?"

Aria stated matter-of-factly, "I'm here with Wren as a favor. If I could be at home with Ezra, I would be, but I can't because he's in jail."

Spencer frowned and shook her head as she said, "No he's not."

Aria looked confused as she asked, "What do you mean, he's not? Yes, he is, I talked to his lawyer yesterday."

Spencer explained, "Ezra was released on bail this morning."

Aria was taken aback and her mind drifted as she softly questioned, "Wait, what?"

Spencer was a bit thrown as she asked, "You didn't know?"

Aria had a look of determination in her eyes as she said, "If you see Wren, tell him i'm sorry. I have to go." Then she hurried towards the door and exited the building.

Once Aria was out on the street, she tried to hail a cab, but all of them were occupied. Ezra's apartment was about fifteen minutes away by foot, maybe ten if she ran. So she started running, even though she knew she'd later regret running in heels.

Wren walked over to the bar, but noticed Aria wasn't there anymore. He stretched his neck a bit to scan the room, but didn't manage to see her anywhere.

He turned to the bar again to ask one of the bartenders, but they were busy. Then he noticed Spencer and walked over to her.

He gave her a wink and playfully said, "Here's my favorite intern. Did you by any chance see my date? She's a petite brunette wearing a dress with golden leaves, I seem to have misplaced her."

Spencer replied in a cool manner, "You mean Aria? She told me to tell you she was sorry, but that she had to go."

Wren panicked and it could be heard in his voice when he urgently asked, "What!? When was that? Do you know where she went?"

Spencer frowned as she didn't realize what the big deal was and shrugged as she responded, "About five minutes ago, give or take. I'm assuming she went to go see Ezra, because when I told her he was out on bail she had no idea."

Wren's eyes widened at that, angrily yelled, "Dammit Spencer!" and he rushed out the building.

Once outside he called his driver to come get him and he made his way over to Ezra's apartment.

When Aria arrived at Ezra's apartment, she was out of breath and her feet were killing her from all the running.

She pushed the elevator button and when she got in, she leaned against the elevator wall to catch her breath.

When the elevator reached Ezra's floor, she stepped out into the hallway and noticed Ezra's front door was ajar. She got slightly worried that something was wrong, so she pushed the door open and walked into Ezra's apartment.

She looked around and saw or heard nothing, so she quietly called out Ezra's name. But there was no response.

She took a few steps into the living room and called out again, a little louder now.

All of a sudden, Ezra walked into the living room, baffled to see Aria standing there.

Aria felt relieved and hurried over to Ezra whilst saying, "Ezra! It's true, you're back home."

Ezra motioned Aria to keep her distance and he asked, seeming a bit on edge, "Aria? What are you doing here?"

Aria tried to ignore Ezra's weird behavior and explained, "I would have been here sooner, but I only just found out like twenty minutes ago that you were out on bail."

Ezra tried to guide Aria to the front door as he stated, "You can't be here, you need to leave."

Aria disregarded Ezra's attempt to make her leave or keep her distance. She walked over to him, took both his hands in hers and pleaded, "Please, Ezra, just let me explain. It's not what you think."

Ezra pushed Aria's hands away, shook his head and practically yelled, "I DON'T CARE! GO!"

Aria started welling up, desperation heard in her voice as she questioned disbelievingly, "Seriously? Are you really going to end this over something that meant nothing?"

Ezra swallowed hard, the inner struggle with what he was about to say visibly clear on his face, "No, Aria, YOU ended this over nothing. I am just refusing to get sucked back into this again. You have completely destroyed me! I will never be able to love again, my family has shunned me because I went to prison for you and now I might lose my own company because of it. I wish I had never met you, you have ruined my life. But hey, at least you got someone new out of it. By the looks of you I can see his more ostentatious way of life is more your style... it suits you. I guess you're not so opposed to decadence anymore."

Before Aria could say anything else, Wren came bursting through the door. Ezra gave Wren a destroying look and scoffed, "Speak of the devil. Wren, could you do me a favor and see yourselves out? I'm done here."

Wren was perplexed by Ezra's reaction, but then looked over at a distraught Aria and redirected his attention to her. He put his hand on the small of her back, guiding her to follow him as he gently said, "Come on Aria, let's go."

Aria was looking at the ground as she and Wren walked over to the elevator. Wren pushed the elevator button and it was mere seconds before the door opened.

Before stepping into the elevator, Aria looked back over her shoulder one last time. Ezra wasn't there to stop her... All she heard was Ezra's cellphone ringing as she got into the elevator with Wren.

Wren put his arm around Aria and she leaned into him for comfort, burying her head in his shoulder, her eyes wet with tears. Before the elevator doors closed, Wren could see Ezra running towards the elevator, despair in his eyes.

As the elevator doors opened on the ground floor, Aria looked up and saw a familiar man in front of her. It took her a few seconds to remember where from, but then her eyes widened in panick as she realized it was Matt's killer.

The man recognized Aria immediately and reached for his gun in the back of his pants. As he aimed the gun at her, she heard him say, "It's my lucky day, two for the price of one."

Just as Matt's killer was about to pull the trigger, he looked back over his shoulder as they all heard a man yell, "Nooooooo!"

When Matt's killer was distracted, Wren pushed the elevator button to go back to the top floor.

Aria recognized Ezra's voice and then saw him running towards Matt's killer to try and stop him.

As Aria noticed the elevator doors starting to close again, she tried to run out to stop Ezra from getting hurt. As Wren pulled her back, she saw Ezra tackling Matt's killer, which caused the gun to go off. The last thing she could see before the elevator doors closed was Ezra and Matt's killer fighting each other. After the doors closed, she panicked as she heard another gunshot.

Aria started freaking out and yelled at Wren, "Why did you do that!? We need to help him!"

Wren was firm when he stated, "My job is to keep YOU safe."

Aria couldn't live with that answer, so she pushed every button in the elevator, to try and make it stop. When the elevator stopped a few floors up, the doors opened and she struggled with Wren as he tried to stop her from getting out.

Aria apologetically said, "I'm sorry for doing this", before digging her heel into Wren's foot, which made him lose his grip on her. She ran out of the elevator and headed for the stairwell as fast as she could.

When Aria reached the ground floor, she pushed open the door and saw Ezra lying there on the floor. She noticed the police were arresting Matt's killer, but nobody was paying attention to Ezra.

Aria was besides herself as she screamed, "Ezra! Ezra! Somebody do something! Call an ambulance! Why aren't you doing anything!?"

When she got to Ezra, she crouched next to him and started sobbing. Suddenly she felt Ezra grab her hand with his and she looked up at his face as he softly spoke, "I'm fine, don't worry. I'm wearing a bulletproof vest. I just didn't think the impact would knock me down that hard."

Aria started crying ever harder as she chastised him, "You idiot! What were you thinking? Why did you do that?"

Ezra squeezed Aria's hand and explained, "Because it was the only way for us to be together again. I love you Aria, I don't want to lose you."

Aria was confused as she replied, "But... you said... "

Ezra shook his head as he confessed, "I didn't mean all that. I needed to get you out of the apartment because we had set up everything to try and catch this guy. If I had known he was waiting downstairs, I would have never made you leave, i'm sorry. I just hope we have enough proof now to put all of them away for a long time."

Aria bent down to kiss Ezra, putting so much feeling into it, she felt actual pain going through her body. When she pulled away, she swooned and almost fell over.

With some effort, Ezra pushed himself up to sit and asked in concern, "Are you okay?"

Aria nodded and replied, "I'm fine, just a little dizzy, a bit too much excitement I guess."

When Aria felt light-headed again, she reached for her forehead and felt a pang of pain to her side.

Instinctively she grabbed at her side which caused her to let out a yelp of pain. Her hand felt wet and ssticky, so she pulled it away from her side to reveal it was covered in blood. Her hand started shaking and she was feeling short of breath because of the shock, which only made her more dizzy.

She looked up at Ezra, who had a horified look on his face. Ezra caught Aria as she fell back, yelling that Aria was shot to the police and that they needed an ambulance immediately.

The last thing Aria heard was Ezra telling her to stay with him, but there was too much darkness pulling her down, so she just gave into it.
