Move Along
Chapter 018
"Ootori, approached you again I see," Sesshomaru commented as he and Kagura led the two to a quiet table in the back.
Five hundred years and Sesshomaru had not changed much. Power, prestige, and pedigree he was as powerful as he was then if not more so. The only significant change in him had been his mating to Kagura, though three kids did manage to soften him up a bit. Not much, but enough for her to see the difference.
Kagome rolled her eyes and mumbled, "Hello to you too."
Kagura smirked dangerously at her, "Don't feel so left out, Kagome-chan. We want to hear all about Ouran and that new club you joined."
Kagome tripped in shock. "How did you know about that? Does Shippo know?"
"Like you could really hide that from us, but no. We haven't told the fox yet," Kagura said with a chuckle.
Curing under her breath, Kagome reluctantly took the seat across the wind demon. She should've just gone to school.
"He is persistent," Jinenji replied to Sesshomaru's earlier statement. "I think it's time I've taken on an intern."
Sesshomaru arched an eyebrow, the only sign that he was curious as he flatly asked, "Who did you have in mind?"
"Kagome. She already knows the herb lore, and it was her idea that led to our latest breakthrough," Jinenji spoke.
"What!" Kagome turned from sulking in her seat to gawking at the two demons.
"That is acceptable," Sesshomaru replied, completely ignoring the miko. "After today's budget meeting, we'll draw up a schedule for her to come by."
"Don't I have any say in this," Kagome yelled, glaring at the dog demon.
"No. You have wasted enough time moping around, miko. This is an opportunity many people would kill for," Sesshomaru coldly replied, meeting her heated gaze.
Jinenji placed a hand on her shoulder, hoping to calm her down. "Please, Kagome. You are the only one I trust in the greenhouse."
Damn it. How could she say no to that? "Fine," she grumbled.
Kagura clapped her hands, recapturing Kagome's attention as the two males went back to their conversation. "Great, now that, that is settled, tell me more about this host club."
Kagome slapped a hand on her forehead, feeling the oncoming signs of a headache. "Fine, just promise me you won't tell Shippo."
Kagura huffed and said, "If you insist."
"I do and I'm not even a host yet. I start on Monday."
"Aww, how cute, though that will make your bet with Shippo….much more challenging," Kagura carefully spoke, studying the younger girl intently. They all knew how much the bet meant to her. She disagreed with Shippo's methods, and for his sake and his relationship with Kagome, he had better win.
The former time traveler stared down at her hands, nervous and said, "I'm…doing to help a friend."
Kagura laughed heartily, glad to see parts of the old Kagome again. "I've missed you, Kagome-chan. We should raid Ryusuke's closet while he's gone. You're going to need more boy clothes besides that school uniform then if you plan to keep the charade up."
