Move Along
Chapter 030
Kagome stared incredulously at the horde of girls who surrounded her. They were gushing over her fight scene with Mori. It wasn't that big of a deal. And she couldn't have been more grateful to Ootori when he finally ended club hours after Renge had basically kidnapped Haruhi.
Guess she'd give the girl a ride another day.
But before she could make the quick exit she wanted, Honey latched himself to her arm. "Hey, Kago-chan, you were really cool in that video."
The taller boy besides them stared coolly at her and surprised her by speaking. "You're very good."
Kagome blushed at their compliment as the trio made their way out of the school. It sounded more sincere than the praise she had gotten earlier. "Thanks. But I hear you're pretty impressive yourself, Honey-senpai."
"We should spar sometime," he happily exclaimed. Kagome found herself smiling and nodding her head in agreement. It was hard saying no to that face. "Sure."
The two cousins gave their goodbyes and veered off in a different direction once they had reached the front gate.
Walking to her bike, she was surprised to see someone already there, effectively ruining her short-lived good mood. Groaning, she reluctantly greeted the red haired wolf demon. "Ayame, what are you doing here?"
Rolling her eyes, Ayame replied, "Now that's no way to greet a friend, is it?"
"Good thing we're not friends then," she snapped back.
"Semantics," Ayame nonchalantly replied. "And if you must know, Kouga sent me. He was worried about you."
"Well he shouldn't, I'm doing just fine," Kagome coldly replied as she strapped on her helmet and moved to straddle her bike.
"You've never been a good liar," she said, moving to stand in front of the bike so that Kagome would be unable to zip off like she no doubt planned. The two girls stared one another down before they were interrupted by a small cough.
Looking up, Kagome saw that Ootori was standing before her.
"I hope I'm not interrupting anything," he calmly stated, a curious glint in his voice.
Ayame straightened up and sent the younger boy a bright smile. "Nope, I was just leaving. And one more thing, Kagome, get your head out of your ass. Do you really think they'd be happy?"
Kagome childishly stuck her tongue out at the red head's retreating form.
"What was that about," Kyoya asked. Kagome ignored his question and instead asked her own. "Did you need something?"
"Your contact information for the club," he replied, handing over his clipboard so that she could feel out the information. Snatching it up, she hastily scribbled down what he wanted. "Is that it?"
He nodded his head, and Kagome hastily took off. Honestly, he had expected more of a fight. But maybe he had caught the other boy at just the right time, though now he only had more questions about him.
He recognized the woman who had confronted him; Okami Ayame was a reputable figure. But what was that exchange all about.
Next chapter will go back to the club's usual silliness.
