Move Along
Chapter 035
"I can't believe I actually fell for that," Haruhi groaned as she and Kagome ambled out of the school. Kagome snorted and said, "I can't believe you fell for it either."
Haruhi rolled her eyes and followed the older student to his bike. Though Kagome had been giving her rides for a while now, the motorcycle still made her anxious. But Higurashi always drove carefully and slowly with her (she had seen him peel out before at an alarming speed).
"Hey, do you mind if we make a quick stop," Kagome asked before climbing on the bike.
Haruhi blinked and muttered an unsure, "Okay."
Kagome smirked in response and attempted to ease her nerves, "It's nothing major. I just need to drop off some paperwork."
Haruhi nodded her head. It made sense to her. Most of the students at Ouran were preparing to take over their family's business, made sense that he was too.
She held on tight as Kagome expertly weaved through traffic, before coming to a stop outside a large gated facility. Haruhi was a little surprised at all the security as Kagome had to enter a password and then show some identification to a security guard.
And Haruhi wasn't sure if she should say something when they were parked on the sidewalk, right in front of the building. She was positive that wasn't a real parking space.
Kagome must have read the expression on her face as he shrugged and smirked mischievously. He grabbed her hand and led her through the building, ignoring others as they went. "C'mon, I want you to meet somebody."
They barged into one of the restricted labs and Kagome instantly deflated. Standing over one of the workstations, stood one of the most imposing figures Haruhi had ever seen. He easily surpassed Mori's height.
"Eh, Sesshomaru, what are you doing here? And where's Jinenji," Kagome rudely demanded.
"I do own this building," he smartly replied before settling his cool amber eyes on Haruhi. She instantly froze under the intense gaze. She had never felt so judged in her life. Whoever he was, he reminded her of Kyoya. And she had a feeling the Shadow King was nowhere in this guy's league. "And he's busy preparing for the seminar next weekend like you should be."
Haruhi watched on as Kagome rolled his eyes and began to rummage through his bag. "Whatever, I just came to drop off some paperwork."
Sesshomaru took it without another word before letting his gaze slide back over to the first year student. "You must be Fujioka Haruhi. Ouran's scholarship student."
Haruhi tensed up at that. Did every rich person have to know about that?
"Knock it off. Haruhi, this is Taisho Sesshomaru. And not the person I wanted you to meet," Kagome introduced with a frown.
"I see you manners still need some work," Sesshomaru shot back. "Though with the company you kept, I'm not surprised."
"He'll always be better company than you," Kagome snapped, as she grabbed Haruhi's arm. "Let's go."
The whole ride back to her place, Haruhi could feel the tenseness radiating off of Kagome. And as he dropped her off, she attempted to keep him at her place. He definitely should not be driving in such an agitated state.
"Would you like to come in, Kaogme-kun?"
Kagome shook her head. She had somewhere to be. "I should get going."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah. And sorry about earlier. I didn't expect him to be there," Kagome apologized, strapping on the helmet she had leant Haruhi. Before Haruhi could reply, she zoomed off.
