Move Along
Chapter 036
Kagome watched the little league soccer game with little interest. Though her eyes stayed trained on number thirty-two, she just couldn't focus on the game.
Stupid Sesshomaru. Why did he have to be there?
Sighing, she watched on as number thirty-two scored the winning goal. Forcing herself to smile, she stood up with the other parents and clapped in congratulations.
And it wasn't long before number thirty-two came bounding up to her and wrapped his sweaty arms around her. She hugged him back, her smile becoming less forced.
"Nee-san, you made it," Souta cried, looking up at his older sister.
"Of course I did squirt," Kagome replied, fondly ruffling his hair. "You invited me after all."
Souta beamed happily at his sister. He was glad to see her; it had been a while since she visited. "Now since you won, how about I treat you to some ice cream."
"Awesome, can we ride your bike afterwards," he excitedly asked. Their mom hated it and he hadn't been allowed on it since she got it.
"Yeah, I'll give you a ride home as long as it stays between us," Kagome answered, sharing a conspiratory wink.
"Of course," he replied, eagerly nodding his head as they walked through the park.
"So how's class going, still number one?"
"Y-yeah," he embarrassingly replied, as he scratched his red face. "How about you? Are you liking Ouran?"
Kagome shrugged her shoulders and noncommittally replied, "It's not so bad."
"Better than Lobelia," he asked with a taunting smirk. Kagome glared at him, and pulled him to her and gave the younger boy a nuggie. "Brat, never mention that place again."
"Okay, okay. I get the message," he said, pulling himself free. Kagome nodded her head, satisfied.
After a moment of silence, Souta hesitantly spoke, "So, Yokomizo-san offered to sponsor me if I wanted to go to Ouran."
That was the first she was hearing of this. She stopped walking to look down at her brother and raised an eyebrow. "You sure? I mean, you'll get no better education but they're all crazy there."
"I'm sure. I miss you nee-san and it would let me be closer to you," He honestly replied with a shy smile.
Kagome grinned happily and said, "I miss you too. But you should only go if you want to."
"I want to go," Souta answered.
