Move Along

Chapter 042

"You go on ahead Jinenji, I just need to ask Ootori about something," Kagome said before they could enter the small restaurant Shippo had chosen. It was definitely a place Kyoya wouldn't have expected someone of their social status to frequent.

Kyoya looked irritated as he asked, "What is it?"

Once Kagome was sure the half-demon was out of earshot, she grumpily spoke in a hushed tone, "Okay listen up, the idiot in there cannot find out I'm in a Host Club."

Kyoya arched an eyebrow, curious. "And why should I help you?"

"You keep your mouth shut, and I'll answer one of your questions," Kagome snapped. She knew the Shadow King wouldn't just do anything for nothing. K

yoya mulled over her suggestion before he countered offered, "Ten questions."

She scowled at his response. She should have known this wasn't going to be easy. "No way, two."

"Five."

"Three, take it or leave it," Came her final offer.

"Fine."

"Great," Kagome said with a false smile as she turned her back to the boy and began to lead him through the restaurant. She didn't care to see if he was following or not.

The two demons were setting at a table in the corner, the only spot big enough to hold the half-demon. Shippo's teal eyes immediately landed on her. He grinned widely as he sprang out of his chair and smothered her with a hug. "Kagome! I've missed you."

She rolled her eyes and pried him off of her. "You saw me this morning."

He ignored her snarky reply and managed to keep an arm wrapped around her shoulders. "Who's your friend?"

"This is Ootori Kyoya," she stiffly answered. Kyoya bowed politely as he greeted the fox demon. The three took their seats at the table. Kagome and Kyoya sitting besides each other as he took the seat across from Shippo, hoping to get some answers.

"So, how are you related," Kyoya asked after they had ordered. He could practically feel Kagome's glare on him, but he kept his cool gaze focused on the person in front of him.

Shippo laughed heartily as he answered, "We're not. But our families go way back. We might as well be related."

Kyoya nodded his head. Though he kept a polite smile on his face, he was disappointed by the answer. He was hoping for more information.

"Are you two in the same class," Shippo asked as he fiddled with his chopsticks before he used one to point in Kagome's face. "That one there doesn't tell me anything about school."

Kagome ignored his baiting and Kyoya answered, "We are in the same grade, but different classes. We met through club activities."

"Oh, that academic club, right?"

Kagome sent the other boy a pointed look, hoping that he would keep to his word.
