Move Along
Chapter 043
"That is correct," Kyoya replied, his fake smile still in place.
Shippo beamed at him, ignoring the miko's foul mood. "So, how is Kagome doing at Ouran? Has his grades gone up? Is he making friends?"
"I'm right here. If you have a question, just ask me," Kagome grumbled, not that Shippo spared her a glance. Kyoya however sent her a taunting smirk as he answered, "He's very well liked by his peers. And he seems to get along rather well with our scholarship student, Fujioka Haruhi."
"Oh, I've met her. I'm glad he's making friends."
"I hate you," she mumbled under her breath though everyone at the table still heard her nonetheless. Shipo pouted as he childishly said, "Aww, don't be like that Kagome. You know you love me."
Jinenji smiled fondly at their antics as he took a drink of his tea. Kagome rolled her eyes and decided to change the subject. "How was the pool yesterday?"
"Eventful," was all Kyoya replied with, annoying Kagome even further.
The smug jerk.
Shippo looked confused as he asked, "Eh, pool? Why didn't you go, Kagome?"
Kagome stared at him like he was the biggest idiot and the planet and answered, "Because I was helping Jineji."
"I'm sure he would have let you go," Shippo said as he nudged the half-demon with his elbow.
"But Sesshomaru wouldn't have," she replied. The dog demon had specifically ordered that she be there.
"Keh, that old dog is nothing but a pushover," the fox demon flippantly replied. Kagome flicked a napkin at Shippo. "He'd skin you alive if he heard you say that."
"How is it that you know Taisho-sama," Kyoya asked, attempting to once again try to gain some information.
Kagome glared at Shippo as if daring him to answer. He did so anyway, but chose his words carefully. Kouga and Sesshomaru had kept him updated over her mood swings at the mention of InuYasha and he didn't want to upset her. She just wasn't ready to talk about him yet.
"She used to babysit for him."
It wasn't a total lie, but one look at Kyoya and Kagome knew he didn't buy it.
