AN: Last chapter was a typo, but I decided to roll with it. It'll make things more interesting for the next couple of chapters.

Move Along

Chapter 044

She wasn't sure why, but she and Kyoya had stuck together after lunch. Neither felt like going home, so they took a walk around the area. And Kagome could easily read the Shadow King. He was curious about something.

"That was an interesting lunch," he finally said, breaking the silence. Kagome rolled her eyes. She preferred guys who were more upfront with what they wanted. But she decided to play along. "For you maybe."

"Yokomizo-san reminds me a great deal of Tamaki. No wonder you were able to be so cold to him when you first met," Kyoya said, smiling politely. She hated that smile.

"That guy has a way of getting to you," Kagome replied with a shrug. "Is that how you two became friends?"

"More or less," he said before commenting on just what had been bothering him. "I noticed that Yokomizo referred you to as she."

Kagome tensed up for a moment as she cursed her luck. She hadn't caught Shippo's little slip and of course Kyoya had. She attempted to play it cool though. She would kill the fox demon later. "Shippo's an idiot. He's always thought I've been a little girly looking."

Kyoya paused to really look at her. He had noticed the delicate features, but never thought much of it before. Kagome probably could pass for a girl rather easily now that he thought about it.

"I can tell you're dying to ask me something," Kagome suddenly blurted out, hoping to change the subject.

"Alright," he slowly replied, taking the bait. He was much more interested in her history than her looks. "How is it that you really came to know Taisho Sesshomaru?"

Kagome took a deep breath. She should have expected that one. Looking anywhere but at the other host member, she answered truthfully. "I was really good friends with his half-brother."

Kyoya wasn't sure what he had been expecting, but it hadn't been that. "I wasn't aware Taisho had any brothers."

"Yeah, well they weren't really on the best of terms," Kagome replied, still refusing to look at him. "He wasn't recognized by the family."

Kyoya nodded his head; made sense they would cover up his place in the family. But something about the way Kagome spoke of him, made him think there was more going on.

"Tell me about him."

Kagome smiled sadly as she finally looked up at him. She hadn't talked about InuYasha in a long time and she surprised herself by speaking. "He was my best friend. He was always so angry but determined to show up those who looked down at him for what he was. He was always proving Sesshomaru wrong about his worth."
