Move Along
Chapter 049
Kagome glanced at the group she had brought into the greenhouse. Though she usually tended the garden alongside Jenenji, it was all hers. It had been a gift from the gentle half-demon from when she had first moved in with him and Shippo. There were plants that didn't even exist anymore there.
"Wow, senpai these are amazing," Haruhi spoke in awe as she took in some of the more brightly colored flowers with Honey. Kagome smiled fondly at the younger girl. She would've thought Haruhi would be more impressed with the vegetables she grew. But even the tomboy had a feminine side it seemed.
Hikaru snorted but reluctantly admitted, "Guess you're more than a dumb jock."
Kaoru snickered while Haruhi elbowed the rude twin for his comment. Kagome rolled her eyes, but otherwise ignored him. She instead approached their oddly quiet club president who was gently touching a few stylized lilies.
"So, what do you think?"
"I think, these are pretty amazing," he honestly and calmly answered before switching back to his regular, energized self. He swiftly threw his arms around her and exclaimed, "A true rebel with a heart of gold."
Kagome huffed and roughly freed herself from the blond. "What's with all this rebel stuff?"
"You don't see yourself as a rebel, Kago-chan," Honey asked, looking up at the taller host.
"Not really," she admitted with a shrug.
"But you drive a vehicle to school," Haruhi pointed out.
Hikaru and Kaoru nodded their heads and added, "You've also gotten kicked out of your last couple of schools."
"You skip class," Mori stated.
While the others argued whether the term fit or not, Souta looked up at his sister, studying her. While rebel wasn't a term that automatically came to mind when he considered her, especially before she fell into the well, it fit even back then. She was always standing up for others or in her beliefs, even if it often got her in trouble. (And from what Shippo had told him, that had often been the case.)
Chuckling, he said, "Sorry si-bro, but you're totally the rebel type."
"Not you too," Kagome groaned.
